About : system tray - XV6700, PPC-6700 General

Is there a program out that lets you see your programs that're minimized or open but in the system tray, like they had in wm5? I have aim, and spb plus and it minimizes it but its a pain to click, hold, wait for menu to show up, then click on aim to show up, i'd rather just see it on the bottom of the screen and click it.
thanks in advance

closing programs.

When closing programs why do they still run i n the background. any way to properly close them ...
Whenever possible I try to "exit" through its menu (usuallybottom left in most programs). When you close just by hitting the X in the top right corner thats when it stays running in the background
I'm only a newbie mind you and there might be other solutions out there

Most programs made for pocket pc do not close by pushing any of the top buttons (ie ok & X). Instead they just move behind other window so you cant see them. This is supposed to be the ppc equivelant of minimizing. The idea is strongly pushed by microsoft, and has some merit. Personally I like to have at least an option to "really" exit a program, but in most cases the only way to truly exit is via the memory manager in the settings or some third party task manager.
To really CLOSE a program install SPB Pocket Plus or Wisbar Advance. More people like SPB Pocket Plus.
Those programs add an option then really close a program when you hit ok and/or close button

All of the tools in previous post are ok. Though I use ae button plus to remap tge hardware buttons, it allows separate commands for double- & triple click as well. & for really closing apps I use VJOkButt assigned to one of the double clicks. Works like a treat. Btw VJ has lots more tiny very usefull magician extensions. Just visit www.vijay555.com
Cheers, M
Btw the OS is designed to send apps to the background instead of closing them. That way the reopen much quicker, counterpart is that a magician has limited ram & it's souped up rapidly.
thanks guys, will look into all that was suggested.

Try tapping and holding the X or OK button. Not sure if its a feature of Battery Pack but if I tap, it minimises and when I tap and hold it closes the program. Cheers Paul

That's a Battery Pack feature.

makeing the Ok button actually close an app, not just (mini)

I have searced but to no avile.
I do use magic button, but I want to be able to close an app without taping the top right corner of the screen, with the ok button.
am I doing something wrong?
also is the best way to null the active sync from auto starting still making a fake server exchange?
Keep stylus on the ok button for a couple of secs, then an icon like a house should appear on your taskbar. Press this for a short while and a menu sholuld appear where you can change the settings to close programs instead of minimize.
or can use smclose which is simpler - just place in windows startup folder voila!

Question for HTC homescreen users

Has anybody found a way to remove the top and bottom bars from the screen or theme them away? I map my mail button to open the start menu and the internet button to close apps. my left softkey brings up Newmenu and the right one brings up contacts. I have no use for either onscreen bar. Killing them off would provide 10-15% more homescreen space.
Thanks for reading and any help/guidance you may be able to provide.
Vijay has written an app, but I don't think its still on his site. Its called VJToggle or something. You can remove the bottom bar, or both bars. I found it on MoDaCo via Google.
Thanks. I'll give it a try.

There is also Wisbar Advance Desktop. It is shareware and you have to pay for registration code but it allows 100% complete customization of your home screen including full screen without top and bottom bars.

Make PointUI default everythign

is there a way to make point UI like the default of everything. When i press the red button on my touch, it goes backto WM desktop. IF i want to use this as a normal "skin" then it needs to go back to the homescreen when presing the red button, and only going back to normal WM desktop when i manually do it???... Also how do you stop programs w/in pointui home. it just says currently running, and how do you stop those progs?
Perhaps you should ask this on the PointUI forums?

Use third party X-Button,Task Manager or Resco to close program when you back to WM desktop. You can close programs with 1.01b but still quite a bit steps. It does not fall back to Home screen is still no get around yet. Same if you lock the device but if you press the power button, it will unlock. This UI has not worked all bugs out yet.

Tap on the arrow on the lower screen of PointUI Home
-> Currently Running
-> Select your desired application
-> The program opens with the PointUI titlebar
-> Tap on the name of the application
-> Force Close
Then youre on your Desktop again. Tap on the title "Desktop" and select "Home" again.
Yes, quite a lot steps, but I'm already used to it
Greetings and have a nice day

Searching for a TaskManager

Hello,
I'm searching for a taskmanager or a prog assign to a HW button, with following features:
1. If I press the 'OK' button on my Polaris and a 'x' is visible in the upper right corner, the apllication/task in the foreground must be close.
I try the HTC taskmanager but with the option <OK/Close> on the OK button (button4), some apps don't close. Messenger, or contacts for example.
2. I need an exception list for task (like tomtom) which should be place in the background (like the messenger with HTC X-Button). Maybe a white list (for programs to cancel) is also acceptable.
I also tried 'ZapIt' and 'H-Button' and the taskmanager WkTask.
try pBar Its not really touch friendly...but works.
I use quickmenu. It allows me to close any forground app with the "OK" button and list the running apps in the start menu. It also allows me to hide any running apps (usually activesync).
However the menu is the same size as the original start menu so not finger friendly. I got used to it (even with fat fingers but using WM I have to). However you can also use D-Pad 'cause the running apps are on the top of the list.
why WkTask is not gd for u?

Now I've try pBar and quickmenu, too.
All this tools are good as taskmanager, but I need a little prog
which send an 'OK' if an 'OK' is visible. If a 'X' is shown in the top-right
corner, the program has to look in an exception list. If the task is mentioned in this list, the prog has to minimize it. Otherwise the prog must close the task.

It show like no other (very good) all tasks in the taskbar, but my problem could not be solved.

I never had a problem with wktask. The ok functions works fine for me

you're right, but only when I touch the 'x' the contact app is closed, if I press the HK, wkTask send it to background. Why?
All this applications work fine if I touch the 'x' on the display, but not if i assign them to a hardkey!
My requirements for the app I wand to assign to my 'OK' button (hardkey)
1. If a 'x' is shown, and I press the HK, the app should closed.
2. .. but it should not close if the app is in the exceptionlist. Then the app should minimized.
3. If an 'ok' is shown, and I press the HK, an ok should send.
