Hi, my T-mobile MDA had the same main camear problem a few days ago. I could open the camera, but the screen is black. After several seconds, every function icon was shown. The low res camera works fine.
I firstly thought maybe the main camera is damaged because I had dropped the phone several times(Dropping made my phone white screen, but I fixed it myself). I bought a new camera module from Taobao(www.taobao.com, the biggest auction website in China) and replace, but the problem is still. Yesterday, I sent the phone to a repair store in Beijing. After half an hour, my camera is back again! The repairer told me that there is a small chip in the mainboard is damaged (maybe because of my careless dropping), so replacing the bad one with a new one, the camera is ok now for me.
From the Universal service manual, the main camera does not work because of camera defect or mainboard defect. I think not everybody has the same mainboard problem to me. If anyone want to buy new modules for your Universal, I would like to buy from Taobao for you.

hay i recently dismantled my HERM100 to figure out why my battery life went to hell, and where most of the heat in the front was being generated, as it turns out i have a short somewhere in my Front camera board, and need a replacement.
does anyone know (preferably in australia) where i can get the component, other than on ebay, or is anyone willing to sell a "bricked" hermies so i can just swap the mainboards round and go?
this also seems to be messing my camera functions, and front led's have gone dull, other than that its working fine.
but if anyone has known this to be a software issue in the past, this fault only became apprent after i updated the boot loader, and software for the wi-fi/GSM and OS, or it was just going to do it at that verry moment becuse murphy hates me!
on another note is there a copy of windows mobile 6 that will work with PDA's as reasion being i recently handed over my old HP-R17 somthing or rather, to a friend who needed one, as fortune follows he like my self hates the ok button that dosent close squat, but minimises things and i am feeling that the taskmanager designed for WM6 wont work on a pda with WM5 that too and he would prefer to update, just wondering if anyone has tried this before!?

i managed to fix it, it was a shorted capacitor on the camera board connected to U2, i think it was U2, but it only was connected to the LED's this cap is connected to the Ground and positive going rail and is mostly a filter cap, it was a little burnt and fell off easly after which all worked cool again and no problems with either the front camera or the main camera.
this thing was so small it was only visable as a faulty component under a high power magnification
hello, My HTC Trinity (p3600 in netherlands) was repaired a month ago.
One of the prblems was a vertical line trough the camera screen. In a phone store they told me it was the (camera) chip?
Anyway. It was one of the problems why it was going for repair.
According to the guy on the phone on the repair center they replaced teh motherboard.
RIght now I have WM 6 on it from ADW's-rom.
The camera was also fine, but now suddnely, since today, i got again a verrtical stripe trought the camera screen anda lsoa horizontal one, soort of an a-symetric cross!!
Enybody any experince with this recurring problem?
Anybody also know they way to fix this permanently without emhaving to send it back maybe.?

Hi, when i was got my new trinity i had the same problem with the vertical line on the display. i called to vodafone and they told me to sent it back to change the trinity. my new one dont have this vertical line. i think it was a problem with the camera chip.

I broken my Nexus4 screen (again), so I ordered a new one (it the frame) on ebay. Once received, I replace my broken and start using my phone again.
I was very surprise to see that the GPS could hardly fix, and when it does, it is more thant 100ft accuracy, really not enough for daily use.
The digitizer seems well isolated, but I see that the frame doesn't have the blue tape which must be placed where you put the main board ...
Can it be the cause of my GPS problem ?
So, something happened with my camera. It's not like my phone has never been droped but the last two days I have been fighting this problem. My phone seems to need more presure on camera contact to motherboard than it can achieve by just pushing the thing. Camera is working if I keep some pressure on the contact with the mobo, but as soon as I take the pressure off camera goes black. I'm thinking on attaching some bulky thing right on the contact to get enough pressure there... my phone is not under warranty anymore and I literally don't trust technicians around here.
So, have you ever had a similar problem? Do you know some way to help or get a camera replacement or a tip on how to repair this pinning problems? Anything?
I am facing the same problem for over 2 months. To today I haven't got any solution. According to local repair shops there's a problem with the motherboard and it needs replacement. I visited the Xiaomi official service center but the told me to submit the phone for two weeks. I asked other customers there and they told me that it takes about a month for Xiaomi to repair and return the phone, so I came back as it's the only phone I have?. I'm just helpless.

I did put a bulky object between the two plastic layers in the back of my phone and camera is working again. My warranty was already lost and made sure contact was loose on the mobo, but you may try this without opening your redmi, unless you know for a fact the problem is with the mobo.

doesnt help me in any way; always have to apply pressure at different spots on the backside of the phone. so i am pretty much helpless, beating the hell out of my phone when i need my camera to work. smh...
Hey i have the same issue for rear camera, though front camera is working. Took to service center, they said to change the mobo...wtf...Also tried to open the screw and pressed the camera socket in mobo, tried to press while camera is on, but nothing works. Searched in google, all are saying its a hardware issue and pressing back camera will work, but no luck for me. Don't want to loose this tiny magic phone with all android developments are happening. Recent 64 Bit rom by pirej is working smoothly. But will miss camera. Any other way to activate this....

:good:I used two pieces of matchsticks and it worked for me.Now there is a bulge on backcover.
I bought camera module from aliexpress and installed it, now my phone camera works fine without any issues.

Then, some components like camera or speakers did not work, so I tried to use the components that came with the H815 I bouth, instead of use the components I had in my old H815. By this way I achieved my phone to work fully.
Some months ago, my motheboard died, and I bought a new one(I think new) from Israel in Ebay.
I had the same problem, this time, only with camera. I tried both rear cameras I had. With one unit, the app show that this don´t work and with the other I only can see strange and purple lines. In both situations, the front camera works well.
Something that is difficult to understand to me, is that in some apps like whatsapp, one of the cameras works in some occasion ( I can see all well, but too vertical purple lines on white things in the image).
I tried apps like google camera or to installing the native lg app too, but I can´t do anything to solve the problem.
Anyone know how to know the compatibility between cameras and motherboards in H815 terminals? I tried to bouth a third camera but I had the same problem. I know the cameras are not damaged and work in other terminals.
Do you think if it is possible to solve this installing a different rom on my H815? I tried different rooms on my old first gen Motorola Moto g, but I have any experience with H815, can you guide me some, if you think that this is a possible solution?

I changed my m/b too on my G4 from a seller in taobao (815t->F500) It works great, camera were fine. So I think it might be you camera module or faulty m/b is at fault... cos changing m/b should not cause any problems.
