I'm looking a miniSD card adapter - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Accessories

Hi all,
I'm looking for one, but I don't want to buy a less than 6GB microSD in order to get the miniSD adapter. I've checked the Sandisk 6GB package, but I couldn't find it. Am I missing something?
BTW, if you have an adapter for sales, pls PM or email me at tqsn1 at yahoo.com. I'll paypal you. I prefer the one is living in USA b/c I can't afford out-of-country shipping cost.

Oh NO, I should have read a little closer. Thanks!

Verizon has a 1Gb micro w/ mini and standard adapters for $29.00. Just don't show off your phone it depresses them.

if you want a good quality one go for the one made by nokia.
kms

if your trying to save money you don't have to buy an adapter if you use activesync. Just put your sd card in your phone and connect your device to the pc (active sync will open), hit the explore button on activesync, go to my windows based mobile device, then storage card and drag and drop the files you want on the card.

I bought this one and I really like it. The card is only 4GB, but works for me. It may be a little pricey but I needed the card and wanted the adaptor. I love it!

Max memory card size for the XDA Mini S / Wizard?

I've ordered an O2 XDA Mini S, due tomorrow, & was wondering if there was a limit on the size of mini-SD cards it can use?
Cheers
Don't know of an official maximum, but I have a 2GB miniSD in my TMobile USA MDA with no problems.
Cheers.
So you can use at least as high as 2GB...A lot higher than the 128MB limit my old SE P900 has on card size!
I use a 2gb, without problems. When they are released a 4GB card should work, as there are many reports of successful usage in prophets and magicians
Cool. Ordered a 2GB card, should be here in a couple of days
Where did you order your 2gig from, MyMemory.co.uk have decent prices on SanDisk 2gigs.
i also have a 2gig card, bought for around 60 euro and working fine!
Are there already bigger cards than 2gb Mini-SD?

2 Gig storage card not recognized by my Wizard
Hi,
I'm using MDA Vario. I bought 2 Gig storage card. At the first time, my MDA was able to recognize my 2 Gig mini SD. Then I put the card on the card reader on my Laptop in order to copy some file. There was a comment on the dialog box in my laptop that my 2 Gig mini SD has not been formated and the dialog box offered me to format it. Then I clicked yes to proceed the formatting process.
Unfortunatelly, after I format my 2 Gig mini SD using my laptop; My 2 Gig mini SD could not be recognized by my MDA, but my laptop is still able to recognize my 2 Gig mini SD card.
Up to the present I have not been able to use my 2 Gig mini SD on my Wizard since I format it using my Laptop.
I also has formated my 128MB and 256MB mini SD cards using the same laptop and it works on my MDA.
Could you please help me to fix the problem?
regards,
Stones

Thank you very much for your advice. I've tried using pocket mechanic to format my mini SD, as recommended in the forum you gave to me; but, I still have not been able to use it. Pocket mechanic didn't recognise my mini SD.

2.0 Gig Micro SD card problem with Wing

Hi Guys
I don't post much here and I tried doing a search on this before so if I missed it, PLEASE BE GENTLE WITH ME
My question/problem is that I bought a SanDisk 2.0 gig Micro SD card for the Wing. I started to add stuff to it via the ActiveSync program for the Wing. After awhile though, I received a "not enough memory" type of error message, saying that the "disk is full" and to remove programs before I can add anymore. I checked the storage on the card and I didn't even use a quarter of the storage on the card. I remember that this happened to me with the MDA when I bought a 2gig card and T-mobile told me that they really didn't support 2gig at the time. So I bought a 1gig and the same thing happened.
I figured it was a problem with the MDA. But it's happening on the Wing as well.
I go Tools> Explore Pocket PC> Mobile Windows Device. From there, I click on the Storage Card folder.
I'm only trying to add stuff to the storage card, not run any programs. I am storing themes and 30 second mp3 clips to use as Ring tones and pictures.
When I try copying one of those files from my computer to the Storage Card folder, I receive the following error message:
"Cannot copy xxxxx: There is not enough free disk space.
Delete one or more files to free disk space and then try again".
I called T-Mobile and they could not figure out what was wrong.
Then they said that it could be because I am using a SanDisk card.
Can someone tell me if this is true? Also, how are you guys doing it?
Any info would be greatly appreciated
Any suggestions? Hints?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Robert
I have a 2 gig micro sd on my wing as well (though it is a Transcend brand) and it has been working fine for me all the time.
Try the card on a card-reader and make sure the card is fine.
Try to use a Card reader! i do not have any solutions if you wish to leave the card in your herald though..
Had the same problems with my 2GB SanDisk, suddenly the free space kept on shrinking.
I deceided to backup my XDA and did a hardreset.
So far I have no problems anymore , but I still can't read the SanDisk with all my cardreaders in the PC on Windows.
Out of 6 (including the built-in in my Notebook) only one can read that card. With Linux I had no problems at all.
Where did you buy Sandisk Memory from is the real question. If you got it from Ebay then chances are you've been had.
No, I bought it from Best Buy. Stupid thing cost me $75.00
I'm going to try that Linux reader and see if that does the trick. If not, what about reformatting the card?
That was another thing. T-Mobile tried walking me through that, but when I tried to reformat it via ActiveSync, I did not have that option when I right-clicked on the Storage Card folder.

Holy Crap! You paid alot for that! Newegg.com for like $25.00 and 3 day shipping sometimes it comes faster. I would order from Newegg and return that one.
I came across the same issue the other day, but unplugging and then plugging my Wing back in solve it.
In case you're interested Transcend is the memory I'm using and so far I'm happy with it. Just wish the Wing had more on-board memory. Program memory gets eaten up so fast.
Hi
I know. I have SUCKER written across my forehead. LOL!!
How did you get the files on the card? I know that might sound like a stupid question, but I am running out of ideas here. Im going to look into the card that you have.
Thanks
Robert
Try different card readers (ask your friends or maybe you neighbors). Those xx-in-1 readers should work well. Those USB-Stick like card readers didn't do the job for me as long as I use them under Windows.
try re-formatting the SD card ...then see if that works .. if not, return it ... go buy a Kingston 2gb MicroSD ...it works fine on my wing. .. i bought mine for $40 ... never had a problem with it.
Patriot 2gb card
I've been having the same problem with a Patriot Micro SD card. I've had to pull the battery or soft reset it and it works fine after that. This is also using Activesync through USB and Bluetooth.
I've never had this problem - and I spent $13 on my 2gb A-Data card (during a sale) Quick browse of NewEgg shows $20 now

Ordered this on Jan 4th for 16.99 shipped, it's a good card just got it today highly recommend it especially at that price.
I just bought one for 14.99 w/shipping from newegg.
Someone said that this card was not being read by the Proven 1.10 can anyone confirm this.
Also I am replacing my current Adata 8gig cl 6 for the mere reason that my device does not recognize it in bootloader mode. I hate to flash from activesync. You all can flash roms and radios through this sd card right? No problems?
Just got my in yesterday... so far so good...
Picked one of these up a week or so a go and it works great!
I did some searching is there any other way to format the memory card to FAT32 other than with a card reader? One more question is this memory card already formatted FAT32?
it doesn't matter. reformat the card. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS REFORMAT THE CARD.
Factory formatting is always screwy. And I'm pretty sure there is an app to format a memory card on winmo...but I'm not sure.
But yea this card is FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!

Anyone hear of any SDHC cards not working on the Raph? I have a camera that likes some SDHC but not others. It's not so much by brand as by model. Just curious if it was just me or are there others?
To format your card plug your device to your PC as a "Disk Drive" and format your card via My Computer.
Voila.
Just jumped on this deal. Thanks.
Got mine today. Making separate cards for my Android work for the Kaiser and Raphael, plus another with just media on it. They seem to transfer a lot faster than my class 2 cards.

Umm sorry but how do you plug you device so that the PC can read it as a "Disk Drive"?
When I plug my data cable in it automatically gives me the option to
Auto Sync
Disk Drive
Internet Sharing
choose Disk Drive if applicable, should allow you to see it in My Computer on your desktop now as a physical disk drive.

Transfering SDHC Content to Touch HD

Guys,
I'm soon going on a trip to the Lake District (UK National Park) and will be doing a lot of climbing/hiking/walking.
Whilst I am at the summits of certain 'Fells' I will be taking photo's with my Digital Camera.
At that point I want to transfer Photo's from the Camera to the Phone and send them directly from the Phone.
Problems I need to overcome:-
The Camera uses SDHC.
The Phone uses MicroSD.
Apart from the Phone there is no power source.
What do you think is the best way to transfer the Photo's to the Phone so that I can then send them over 3G?
Thanks in advance.
Why not use a Micro sd in a Micro SD to SD adaptor, that way you are storing the camera images direct to a micro SD card and can then just put that in your phone to send the images

The camera will not take an adapter.
Don't forget I won't have the option of using a computer.
Why will the camera not take an adaptor I have used these adaptors ina PC and they work just the same as if you had put an ordinary SD card in.

Can you show me which adapter will connect directly to a camera WITHOUT the need for a PC.
Surely you need the PC to transfer the data across?
You can get SD adaptors that are just the same size as an ordinary SD card with a slot in the end to fit a Micro Sd card. This means that they fit anywhere a SD card fits and appear like a SD card to the device they are fitted to. A search on google for "sd adaptor" will find one.

Yes but that would mean taking the photo's DIRECTLY onto the MicroSD Card.
I use high speed burst mode with my camera and that requires a fast SDHC Class 6 16GB Card.
You can not get a 16GB Class 6 MicroSD.
Although some will be released very soon the difference in price is quite high.
I'm trying to overcome having to chop and change cards between camera & Phone.
I am seeking a lead or something on this vein for transferring the data across.
Surely you're going to have to make some kind of sacrafice at some stage, either:
- Shoot on Class 2 MicroSD (via SD Adapter)
- Take laptop/netbook along
- Only other viable option is some kind of device that replicates SD to MicroSD without a PC - I don't think it exists.
You sound like your probably using a DSLR, have you thought about the time it will take to tranfer each photo over 3G, even assuming you can get 3G reception in the Lake District browsing the net on mine can be frustrating enough never mind uploading 4Mb photo's.
Oh and the power issue is pretty big! Have you got a windup/solar charger or a shed load of spare batteries?
Good luck though - it's a worthy cause

Thanks for the feedback.
Yes, I'm shooting with a couple of cameras (Big Nikon D2Xs & a small semi-pro Panasonic LX3).
The Nikon though uses CFII for storage and I aim to use this camera with it's heavy zoom lens at the foot of the fells.
The LX3 will be going up with me to the top this time as I've done the Nikon before (and what a weight it was).
The last time I had all my gear... Laptop, Mobile 3G, Solar Charger, etc. etc.
This time however I'm trying something different and want to go as light as possible.
I've got the new Proporta portable charger and this will give my Phone plenty of charge.
The LX3 has two spare batteries so that's not going to be an issue.
I did think about using a mobile hard drive like the Archos AV700 (which I have).
It requires no power source using cable alone and has USB Host.
However, it would mean more weight and cables etc.
I just wondered if there were another simple way I could achieve my aim.
I intend to transfer around 3 to 6 pics and appreciate what you say on the speed issue (agree fully) but I want to complete the task which will help in the review I end up writing.
Hi Beards,
I tried but don't have all the right cables to prove it.
I thought the USB on the HD would also behave as a master for storage - so I thought I could connect a USB to a SD converter and that would be the solution. BUT, I don't have a USB female-female connector. I do have a micro USB to USB cable and a USB SD convertor. My aim was to plug it all in and try - Sorry.
Maybe this will work for you with the SD card appearing (hopefully) as storagecard2 but I need the extra cable to prove it.
Only other issue I can think of is the pictures will be big so no MMS transfer will be possible. Only email attachments and then I think there might also be a limit.
Have a great trip !

Hi Dave,
Nice speaking with you again.
Thanks for the heads up, this sounds promising.
I've got a couple of weeks to try and sort it out so if you come across anything suitable do please let me know.
Been far too busy in theatre lately. This trip will make a perfect break.
Why not just use the camera's 50mb internal memory to copy from your cheap high speed SDHC card to the micro SD card in SD adaptor combination already suggested? Since you're only talking abut 3 or 4 photos it shouldn't be a great hardship, and you get to shoot the way you like.

I'm not taking 3 to 4 shots shuflie.... I'll be 'transferring' 3 to 4 shots to the Phone.
I will be taking around three hundred odd shots in total. I've then got to pick which will then be transferred to the phone.
It's an interesting concept though....
The MicroSD to SD Adapter keeps cropping up in topic here. So on basis this needs to be investigated further.
Edit:
I have just checked the Manual on the LX3 and it would appear this procedure can be done.
According to the Manual I can copy data from an SDHC card to Internal Memory and vice-versa.
So.... all I would need to do is:-
1. Pick from which shots require transferring.
2. Transfer them into Internal Memory.
3. Take out the SDHC Card with all the photos on.
4. Insert the SD Adapter with MicroSD card.
5. Transfer the selected Internal Memory shots on to the MicroSD card.
6. Take out the Adapter and MicroSD card from the camera and remove the MicroSD from the SD Adapter.
7. Insert the MicroSD card into the Phone and temporarily place in internal memory.
8. Take out the MicroSD card and replace with the correct storage MicroSD card.
9. On the Phone, transfer the shots from Internal Memory to the Storage card.
10. Send the shots over 3G.
Phew........ but at least it should work.
DSLR image sending via Touch HD
Hi Beards
I am a news photographer and do exactly this all the time.
There are sacrifices that pretty much have to be made.. you can't do everything you want without power and a laptop / or loads of extra kit.
The sacrifice is basically you cant shoot on class 6 cards you are stuck with the speed of the microSD. However.. we shoot riots, news, entertainment, etc in RAW mode on a Canon DSLR and unless we hammer it and motordrive loads of shots we dont have any problem with the slow microSD cards from SanDisk. I'm not sure what you plan to burst shoot but i would suspect if it serves us ok doing breaking news it should serve you ok up in the countryside. (unless you are doing motorsports or something )
Our workflow is this..
We shoot RAW images on the Canon EOS1D mk II on a SanDiskc 8bg microSD card in a SanDisk SD card adaptor.
We put the microSD card into the touch HD and use an application called Phojo http://www.idruna.com to extract the jpeg image from the raw file and email or FTP the image from our phone. Phojo has a lot of pro features that you may or may not need.. although it is commercial software so may not be something you want to invest in.
Of course shooting JPEG should mean you can shoot even quicker as the files are less than half the size of the raw images and you dont need Phojo to do the extracting of files. You can of course use the touchHD's built in email software then to send them by email if you wish. We recomment Phojo however because it is specifically designed for this application.
There are obviously other solutions.. you can get battery powered tiny USB transfer devices (belkin used to make one) that will transfer the content of one usb device (card reader / card) to another. However we havent had much success with these and they are fiddly.
Your needs match very much what press photographers do every day. All the ones i know do it by using the microSD adaptor / Phojo method (altho most dont shoot RAW they shoot JPEG) The ones who dont use the microSD method are either using a wifi transmitter made by canon or nikon on their camera and Phojo or they are using a PDA/Phone that supports USB host or SD cards.
Hopefully this helps
kind regards
Edward

Newspics, that's really interesting. Great to see how the pro's do it.
I feel like there sould be camera's with built in capabilities to upload pics by now. Or at least Bluetooth 3.0 between the phone and the camera. Live Mesh does a pretty good job for me for syncing pics to my PC, if only it could sync between Camera, Phone and PC.
If you will have no access to a power supply how are you going to keep your phone charged?

S4 + Micro SD help

hey gang, was wondering about getting some advice on what to do about my sd card...
i bought a sandisk micro sd with its adapter and figured id stock it up for when my s4 shows up... the thing is, it wouldnt mount to my macbook pro, mounted just fine to the macbook air, so i stocked it via file sharing...
but down the road? not really the way i would like to do it, the sd reader works fine on the pro, works with other sd cards...
my question is... in the best opinions, do you all think i should run to best buy, try out a different brand like PNY micro sd and adapter? or another sandisk and see if maybe its just this particular adapter...??
if they dont work, i can atleast return it then just buy the external reader... etc etc
thanks

you're right, it could just as easily be the port on your mac too, so it would still be cheaper to initially try another adapter
Apple store put another sd card, worked just fine... Bought another sandisk and a pny micro. Will test it out later. Hopefully one works.
just plugged in the new Sandisk 32gb micro sd, same exact copy, just a new one... mounted perfectly! that was easy...
