Another type of audio adaptor, seen it? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Accessories

Hey everyone, I have been looking around to find an adapter that will allow you to charge the device, and has a plug(s) that allows for an external mic and ear phones. I have seen the ones that allow for just the 3.5 for music but don't have another plug for a mic input... Or they have a built in mic which will not work for me. The reason for this is so I can put it in my motorcycle helmet. I need to be able to attach a wind resistant mic. Also want to use my ear buds so I can actually hear people and music. Any ideas? Thanks!
John

Try www.Expansys.com they have some good accessories for the TyTN II

Already looked
I looked on expansys already. Did not find anything on their site. The closest thing I could find is this: http://www.semsons.com/2miusband3st.html
Any other ideas?

I don't think there is currently anything that will do what you want out of the box. You are probably going to have to get a soldering iron out and come up with a homebrew solution. You could wire up your wind resistant mic to replace the built in mic in either the standard headset or an adaptor. You are still going to need something like 11pin to 5&6pin or 3in1 adaptor to allow charging and audio/mic.

You can use the y-cable and stereo headphones w/ built in mic from the AT&T 8525 to do what you're asking.

mini plug on headphones

I'm hoping to get some headphones for listening to MP3s on the JAM. Rather than modify the original pair, I'd like to get some which retract into a reel. I know there are some available which have 2.5mm mini jacks on them, but I'm worried that they won't work with the JAM.
To test the water, I've tried a standard stereo 2.5mm -> 3.5mm adapter (from MAPLINS) and found that it doesn't work quite right. The left channel comes through fine, but the right channel seems to be a mix of both left and right. I figure this is because the normal stereo plug actually shorts out two of the connectors on the JAMs socket (which has an extra connector presumably for the MIC?)
Soes anyone here know how these 4-pole sockets work? Are they standard across phones? Is it possible to buy a 4-pole 2.5mm plug and then solder that onto a different pair of headphones? (I can't seem to find 4-pole 2.5mm plugs anywhere...)
If we can figure this out, I'm sure it'd be very useful info for all those JAM users out there...
Cheers!
Simon
I already replied in the compact Jam forum.

8125 Audio Output Jack Problems?

I recently have gone through two different Body Glove Sport Stereo headphones with some issues. I can't decide if I have another faulty headset or if the phone audio connector is the issue. The body glove headset is similar to the headset that comes with the 8125, but it looked more comfortable.
The problem I am having is this, the headphones only play in the right side. Messing with the plug on the headset results in some quick burst of audio on the left side and pulling it out a tad gives me some faint left audio and the right side audio goes out completely. It seems the plug and jack don't quite jive... anyone else experience this? It comes with an adapter for the "bigger jack" and upon trying one of my girls iPods, they work fine with the adapter in the mix.
My application is this... I listen to MP3's while riding my motorcycle and the earphones that came with the phone hurt my ears after a while. Plus they don't have the greatest audio quality. Looking for a comfy replacement, but the above issue has me scratcing my head.
Here is a link to the headphones: here
i think...
i think you have the wrong adapter. i tried using the slvrs adapter with my 8125 and it did not work same prob as you. i went to radioshack and got one from there and it did. im most absolutely sure is the inner wiring. what happens is that there's also a connection for a microphone on the 8125 so some adapters dont work.

ps my friend got a mono one at radio shack and it worked for him both sides. hes not a audiophile but you get the idea, it has to be the connection of your plug.
The headphones in addition to be being stereo, have the microphone too, I think the paragraph in the page you linked clears up a few questions for me:
Most manufacturers create their devices allowing audio compatibility with only their specific brand headset or headphones. We have designed and engineered several different types of audio adapters to accommodate a variety of devices. Our unique audio adapters give you the freedom to use any standard 2.5/3.5 mm. 3 conductor headset and/or your favorite set of headphones.

It would seem although the Body Glove headset uses the 2.5mm jack, the internals of the 8125 are off enough that a select few aftermarket stereo headsets with mics will work with the phone. Interesting.
Upon further examination of the jack, it is different than the one that came with the phone. In spite of the BodyGlove being a stereo headet with a mic... just like the one that comes with the phone, the connector is different enough to not with aftermarket stuff I guess. Those dirty rascals!!!
The connector on the left is the one that comes with the 8125, the one on the right is the BodyGlove.
Searched and found this old thread. I went to connect my 8125 Wizard to my cars 3.5 jack using a standard adapter and it only came left channel.
Is there a more cost effective proprietary four-conductor jack to a 3.5 mm converter than posted above at PPC Techs? I was hoping to spend a few dollars.
I'm actually using my old Ngages audio cable to get Stereo sound out of my car stereo. It works but sometimes I can't use the mic on the cell phone to talk.
When it works it's really cool, but otherwise I gotta unplug the cable and use it like a regular phone during phone calls.

Headphone adapter disables internal mic.

When I plug my heaphones in, it seems that the internal microphone on my Tilt gets disabled. That is with my headphones plugged in, no one can hear me on the phone.
Is it possible to talk on the phone without having to uplug the headphones?
Nope.... plugging in headphones assumes you have headphones with a built in hands free mic, like what are supplied with the phone - its possible to get an inline mic so that you can use your own phones though.
Thanks
Thanks, my phone did not come with such headphones. So I am using a headphone adapter and a pair of earbuds. Has anyone seen any headphone adapters with a mic built in?
I want to be able to plug it to my car's stereo's aux in, hear people through the speakers and talk at the same time Short of splicing the cable and soldering on a mic, can such adapters be purchased anywhere? Anyone seen one?
Wow Just saw one!
Just saw one on the top banner Exactly what I am looking for. Unfortunatley they are out of stock. Would also be cool if it had an extension for the charger....

Microphone Recording Tilt

Friends,
Could someone tell me if there is a way to capture audio from a microphone (handheld) and direct the signal into the Tilt using the usb connector?
Please advise if this is possible. I did some searching around town, didn't come up with much thats out there.
Tvos
Should be doable -- there is a mike input pin on the extUSB connector, for use with a wired headset (which comes standard with non-AT&T versions of the phone). Just find a compatible headset or a headset adapter with a built-in mike and use that -- or take the headset/adapter & replace the mike with a jack and plug in the mike of your choice. The xda-devs store would probably be a good place to start your search.

extUSB Adaptor...

Ok, so I've looked at all the threads regarding accessories and I guess I'm one of the few with this question. I'm looking for an adaptor that I use use my headset with. I have these and I'm wondering if those mini-usb to 3.5 mm adapters will work or what? Please someone help! I want to be able to use the built in mic for calls and the headphones for music. Thanks again!!
What's wrong with the adapter that came with your phone?
i have a feeling that the mic won't work. sounds like the adaptor only gets the sound out to headphone, but not input
The adaptor that came with my phone is a bit too bulky, I like to carry my phone in my pocket or in a very slim belt case and it's just too awkward and large...if you have any way for it to work in a more efficient way then please let me know. I've tried it and it's just a little too clunky.
