I have just got an o2 mini s (HTC Wizard) from work. When trying to use my Orange sim card in it the phone will boot and I can make/receive normal calls.
When trying to send SMS or change the Phone settings I get the message: "Phone is not ready please wait 15 seconds" continually.
Does this indicate that the phone is locked to o2 or not and needs an unlock code - or anyone have any other ideas?
I have tried googling/searching for similar issues on Orange with the Wizard but there doesn't appear to be a clear answer.

No this does not indicate anything. I had this problem before.
Try this::
Go to comm manager and turn on flight mode and then turn it right back off. Wait untill your phone re-acquires a signal and then try sending a text again.

Hmmm. That worked for me. Try using lokiwiz ver.02b to sim unlock the device and then look for network wizard to configure the network settings to your new carrier.
orange SMS problem
did you ever get your problem sorted ??? I have exactly the same problem with my T Mobile Vario, unlocked and working fine for calls on Orange SIM, but same mesage as you are getting for texts. Geoff

all sorted just load a new radio rom the faria one from here ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Wizard/Radio_Roms/ wait about 10 to 15 minutes and the system will update its self and say that the settings are not correct for the service provider. Hit update settings and all working. Can now use waht ever rom i want as well.

Hi,
I bought a Qtek S100 from a friend a few days ago.
The problem is I can't recieve a network.
When i start the phone, I have to enter my pin code and I can see my contacts and everything works as normal. But when the phone searches for a network, after 5 seconds an exclamation mark appears next to the network-recieve-icon.
It says "no service".
So now I can't make a call of send a text message.
I tried soft and hard reset, trying all the settings, another sim card, but that all doesn't help.
What can I do about this?
Is my phone simlocked?

Are you using the same provider as your friend? Does your sim work ok with other phones? I guess that it's sim-locked. Try borrowing a sim from another friend whose provider is the same from whom you bought the unit.

This happens to me after switching the telefon mode from off to on. the phone itself needs some time until its "ready for use".
Another possible issue is one using a 3G sim card in a 2G phone. has happened to me with a prophet. Changed to an old sim card and it worked perfectly. Try changing the sim card to a known 2G and see what happens.
Just switched off the phone in the comm manager (it is an option available to facilitate the PDA usage during the flight journey).
Now my phone is fine and working.

Phone not ready
Hi all......
Im a first time poster.....
I have an Imate Jasjam.....
I recently upgraded the ROM and ever since, i keep getting the phone not ready and no matter what i have read in these posts i cant get it to work.....
I have even gone as far as starting over from the original ROM and now the original ROM shows the same problem.
Its really annoying not beingn able to reply to msgs im getting and even worse, not being able to modify the setting in my phone to disable call forwarding to my voicemail.
I have the FCW Home HD ROM installed and have tried upgrading the radio, but fail everytime.... im guessin im using th ewrong one so if anyone knows an up to date radio i can install it would be good....
Please help !
I think you are posting in the ROM forum. Are you sure you have a Charmer cause I don't know the ROM you tell us.

i have an orange contract and want to use the phone on orange
i can put the simcard in to the phone and it will take and recive phone calls fine
problem is
i cant recive or send text messages
i try to send a text message and it comes up with "your text message has not been sent as your sim is not valid"
this is driveing me potty!!!
i have tried flashing it cant upgrade to the crossbow rom it fails for some reason.
i tried the unlocking tool from loki and it seems not to be locked hence i can make and recive calls on it.
it also wont let me pick up the network settings ?? just comes up "the phone is not ready wait 15 sec and try again" waited a few hours and constantly tried it no diffrence
please anyone who can help i would be extreemly greatefull!!!

I too have the same problem, Mine used to be on 02 and my company changed there network to Orange, now my phone was locked to 02, so had to unlock it, since then i'm unable to get to any of the phone settings as in the above post, I'm sure there is a way round this but have been unable to find anything yet.
I also had another issue whereby it would not Sync with our exchange server over GPRS, this has now been resolved since updating the rom to WM6, but the phone settings issue remains.
I've tried a hard reset with no luck.
If anyone knows why this happends and can shed some light as to a solution, i'll come to your house and make you cups of tea fora while week !

I have seen others asking about this same problem, but have not seen any answers. I have an unlocked T Mobile Vario ( wizard ) fone. It works fine on the Orange sim for fonecalls, but will not send or receive texts. When I try to send it tells me "phone is not ready, wait 15 seconds and try again". Two months later Im still getting the same message. I have gone into settings and checked that the correct # for orange is there, as instructed by their customer service, and it is. I am unable to go into settings via the fone symbol in the settings page as I get exactly the same message. Can anyone help please, this is driving me nuts ? thanks, Geoff

Everything seemed fine once my orange sim was in until i noticed that i had not received any txt msg's. I tried to send a test sms to myself and i got this message: "The phone is not ready. Wait 15 seconds and try again." also i cannot access the sms settings menu or options menu when on the keypad screen.
I then decided to upgrade the rom to faria's thinking this could solve the problem but still the same.
Is this a radio rom problem occurring due to the different sim provider's and if so would upgrading the radio rom solve it?

Tried to update with newer radio roms but get the error 300 invalid update tool.

Hi there. There is no problems with the ROMs. I have got a XDA Mini S CID unlocked. Has been working fine with Orange Sim card for a year until I lost the Sim card in one of my tests, ordered a replacement one and from that point onwards, has been a nightmare. i can make and receive calls but cannot receive or send messages, a flash message comes up saying " your phone is not ready. Please wait 15 seconds and try again". I have been checking the forum and apparently is because the new sim cards are 3g and for it to work on the xdas it has to be a 2g technology. It´s weird, isn´t it? Check this out.
