i don't care much about general audio fidelity, but i do care about having a little bump in my music.
do you guys have any a2dp headphone recommendations that have a built in mic, but that don't skimp on bass?
I can recommend the Gear4 Bluphones, as long as you use the correct size ear inserts it's a snug fit and bass seems good to me. Never as good as proper headphones, but everything is a compromise eh....
I love my Motorola S9's, but I agree with the previous post -- make sure you use the right size ear inserts...it makes a big difference concerning bass reproduction!

I owned the Motorola HT820 and the Plantronics 590, which are both stereo A2DP heaphones and i think that the Plantronics has very good sound quality.
1 vote for the Jabra BT620s headphones.

Anycom BS-100 not good for VARIO III

my anycom doesn't seem to work fine with Vario III: stuttering play (same with MDA PRO under AKU 1 and AKU 2, but it worked fine under AKU 3).
so maybe you want to wait for a further AKU aupdate until you gibe the anycom a try.

edit: transmission to the Anycom BSH-100 is MUCH better after install of BatteryWatch. if i start the BT transmission by clicking the A2DP option of the task bar icon, it is still sometimes dropping a beat from time to time but ...

I too have an Anycom BSH-100 and experience the stuttering play with the Tytn II. I can live with it for the moment since it only does it occasionally.

Another vote for the S9's but as previously stated changing the ear plugs from the orginal ones that came on it, to the largest spare ones made all the difference.
I listen to a lot of techno-type of music...and after a lot of different A2DP headsets (Ericsson, HP, Logitech, Motorola 820, Plantronics 590A...) I finally found a pair of headphones that are really bass-heavy, the iTech BluePRO (http://www.itechdynamic.com/en/products_spec.asp?cid=3&pid=03020)...I mean...REALLY heavy...they are actually better than my Koss headphones when it comes to bass atleast!
But these headphones are fairly big...so if you don't like to look like you're a constructor worker, they won't be your thing. But if bass is your thing...these sure delivers!
The batterylife is also extremly good with them (I use reachargable 2500MHa batteries, the headphones use one AAA battery, which gives about the same times as regular non-rechargable batteries)...about 20 hours of music listening/talktime, and 5-600 hours of standby...which I do not believe any other A2DP music headphones are able to compete with!
Of the headphones I have tried, the Plantronics 590A was second best when it came to "my kind of music" (bass heavy), the bass is not quite as full as on the iTechs, but I was quite happy with them...until I got my hands on the iTechs that is.
The only thing that anoys me a little with all these headsets...why not have a small battery-indicating LCD or something (without backlighting of course, so it does not reduce the batterytime)!? Doesn't help much with 20+ hours of playtime...if the battery goes dead at the start of a 2 hour bussride! :-(
SE's HBH-DS970 gives good bass, especially with a music player like PocketPlayer. (And I'm so happy that the Kaiser doesn't have the skipping-problem from the Hermes.)
Let try this one, perfect bass I've seen better than Gear4 or any the others. One more good point, the battery last for more than 4 hours. That's really a good one.

I use a no brand Stereo BT headset on the Atom and found the quality is unacceptable poor. I just want to confirm if it's just me or it's a common problem for Atom.
I found the BT stereo quality very poor too. Tried
1. i-Tech S35
2. Gobalsat BT-830 (apart from stop/pause, AVRCP works fine with WM 10)
3. Nokia HS-12W (apart from stop/pause, AVRCP works fine with WM 10)
quality is way worser compared with the original headphone that came with Atom. I read somewhere this was due to the poor audio chipset used in Atom. Any way to fix that?
BTW, all the above 3 Bluetooth stereo headsets have excellent audio output when listening music from PC (using Widcomm 4.0.1.2800).

When pairing both of them with Atom, the sound quality is not that good (always got hissing sound). The same applies when I use the i-Tech headset with my 818pro.
On the other hand, when I use the Nokia headset with 818pro (A2DP enabled), the quality becomes quite good (no significant difference from wired headsets). BTW, I think the Moto BT headset supports V2.0 too, and seems ppl around got some good experience with it and 818pro.
As I mainly use my Atom nowadays (my 818pro got the screen misalignment problem unfortunately), I already forgot about BT headsets.
From all you guys comments, I am not alone in having poor A2DP quality. It's a shame for giving out A2DP but unacceptable quality. :evil:

Thanks so much for that information. I was really tempted to "upgrade" to an Atom from my Mini because the former had the built in bluetooth so it's a good thing to know I shouldn't upgrade because I was really after the A2DP functionality (since I thought the full release a2dp would be much better than the mini's "hacked" a2dp).
Maybe the stack used on the Atom is not that good. Have you tried upgrading the ROM?

How's it compared with the using the original headset came with your Atom? For me, bluetooth A2DP is way worse.
I used the same i-Tech clip S35 on XDA 2i, and the A2DP qualitiy is as good as the wired headset came with XDA 2i.

ok, with the regular wired stereo headset the sound is Ok, but not that good if i compare to my ipod video.
i highly prefer the a2dp system as it seems ur inside a nightclub while using it.
but if i have to choose between the wired headsets or the HT820, i would rather go with the BT headset.
the only thing, is that dangerous for life ? (like getting brain cancer etc... wish not..)
As I mentioned before, I have tested all the combinations for 818pro, Atom (both with latest rom) and two BT headsets i-Tech R35 and Nokia HS-12W, and only found that the BT 2.0 combination, ie, 818pro with HS-12W, produces good enough music quality. For all other combinations, there is always some pretty obvious hizzing sound around when playing a soung. That hizzing sound is not background sound, as it won't appear if I stop playing any song. It only appears when a certain part of a song is played.
It seems to me that the hizzing sound is caused by insufficient bandwidth or over-compression of the data transmission (or both?). This also matches with my test result.
If I am using the 818pro (it is pending for repair), I will surely bring the HS-12W around. Otherwise, I will just stick with my wired adapter + Sony headset.

AKU 2.0 comes with support for A2DP.
In the case for XDA Atom, A2DP was supported on the day O2 released Atom.
A2DP quality in Atom was poor regardless of the Rom version, I tried the following roms:
1. 20060123B1WWE
2. Xda-Atom-ENG-20060123_Feb2006_.exe
3. R060221N_MN1ARC_RS00045
4. DSUU_ARC_C060414WWE_R060327N_EX0016__test_only_not_for_sale

As described by buruburu, hizzing sound appears when a certain part of a song is played. Turning On/Off the equalizer doesn't seem to have any effect.
When listening the same song using wired headset, the quality was good, so can't be the problem of the song I am listening.
When listening the same Song using my PC (BT 1.2 with Widcomm 4.0.1.2800 stack), the quality was good as well.
So, no problem with the song I am listening, no problem with the BT Stereo headset I am using, no problem with the BT version (1.2 in Atom, 1.2 in PC; don't have BT 2.0, so can't tell) I am using, and my BT headset works fine making/receiving phone calls.
Conclusion:
1. the BT stack in Atom has a problem;
2. the audio chipset in Atom was a cheap and lousy one;
3. my Atom has a problem (I am in UK, don't have another Atom to test)
If it's (1), hope someone can fix it!!![/i]

Aha! Finally found this topic. I'm on O² Atom + Jabra BT620s. The headset sound quality is superb stable on pc (5mb limit Bluesoil). On Atom... WM10 sounds too low even volume maxed, the equalizer doesn't work on A2DP. The best is on TCPMP where I can blast the pre-amp to make it louder. The quality is "ok²", hisses are seldom but hiccups exists once or twice in wma/mp3 tracks and too bad headset playback function only work on WM10 not TCPMP. And to click my headset when answering calls, I've to set TCPMP not to play on background, after clicking, I've to increase the headset volume.
Does any of you guys who's using other than Atom experience hiccups on A2DP? And those with Atom other than goldsaint? I don't think it's Jabra's but Atom fault itself. I've only SmallMenuPlus and O²Plus running in background (all startup removed), no battery/space monitors on today and overclocked to constant stable 520Mhz with XCPUScalar on the latest firmware. Thank you...

I had the same complaint, but these registry edits cleared up my quality problems almost entirely.
Tweaked the bitpool settings to 53 but did not recognize any improvement. The other 2 tweaks is useless for me-- whenever i used my I-Tech Clip S BT headset/wireless stereo, can't hear the other callers voice. Streaming audio to my Clip-S is OK but no noticeable difference.

I've tried my two bluetooth stereo headset on HP-2210 , DOPOD 818Pro and O2 Atom,one thing is certain,the sound qulilaty in O2 Atom is worst and poor.I consider the problem is ROM Firmware.
Some of the tweaks cause more harm than good
I removed all traces of these tweaks by doing a hard-reset, and my bt stereo is just fine with the occassional break. 8)
IMHO we should not just apply every tweak just because someone posted :twisted: EG some one claims he installed Atom Exec ROM on regular Atom Now he has vamoosed when asked to share. Some one posted a 4-letter word due to the mess he had when he followed that line :twisted:
Not to go against the current trend, but I entered the following into the reg editor and it made a huge improved in the sound quality using the Samsung SBH-100 headphones.

- Headset is bad
- 'Sound hardware' is bad
So, can anyone share his experience of listening to music on Wizard. Would buying a better headset (like KOSS or Sennheiser) with a jack adapter help? Or is it the phone sound hardware that sucks? What about A2DP?

And they are excellent! Very impressed and excellent price (£23 inc delivery). Smaller and lighter weight than other bluetooth headphones I've seen. Came with AC adapter for the built-in lithion-iron battery. Apparently runs for about 8hrs.
I've also got a set of AKG K26 wired headphones (however you'll need a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter)

It's the A2DP implementation in AKU2 that sucks. Once a decent AKU3 (conversion) is released with built-in REAL AKU3 (not that of AKU2), the problems will go away.
Please make sure you check out the General forum here; I've posted several articles in there on these matters. Certainly worth a thorough read.
I have recently bought a plantronics 590A stereo bluetooth headset and have been very happy with the sound. My only advice is do research on your headset before you make a purchase because although the quality is very good on the 590A, it has a blinking blue light that continuously goes on, which makes the headset look quite wierd. Anyway, in terms of quality, it has been surprisingly pretty good.
Even with the wired manufacturer headset I got with my 8125 the quality wasn't amazing, but was better that you described.
I also have bought an adapter and used my own headphones, and again, not great, but not that bad.
Something may be wrong with your hardware, or search the forum for various registry tweaks to improve sound quality. If you can, I would definetly see if you can get another phone (through warranty), because the sound should not be that horrible.
now if this only had a microphone too....

I think it actually has something to do with the fact that the sound hardware sucks... I feel that any amount of bass or treble over the norm (even as little as +2dB) causes the thing to distort badly...
My old HP h2210 had an excellent sound chip in it, and also, i'm used to the X-Fi in my PC, and some sennheiser HD595s, so of course, it will sound poo...

Try listening to any music that has *human singing* in it and compare it to the quality through wires (when you do the same by connecting the 590A to the Wizard with the wire that comes with the 590A)
Unfortunately, the 590A, being probably the best stereo headsphone, is *very* sensitive to this kind of distortion.

I've bought an AD-18 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter from Nokia to try my Wizard with different wired headphones around my office.
First observation - the sound is much better with 'normal' heaphones (Seinheiser). I would switch to better conventional headphones immediately, however, the volume is really low and I don's seem to figure out how to get it up. Does it have to do anything with resistance? Was it the case for anyone else? May be it is the Nokia adapter causing trouble?

Actually, the audio hardware in the Wizard just sucks big time. I have a pretty high end audio system in my car. It also has a line input on the front for connecting an mp3 player or whatever (even though it already plays mp3 files). Anyways, I can connect my Wizard to that line in using a cable and the sound is really poor quality. Dynamic range is not very good and the high end is seriously cut off. I have to boost the crap out of it in TCPMP but still can't get it to sound right. I can play the same MP3 off a CD and the quality is much better, CD quality (I typically use high quality vbr encoding). I can take a cheapo $15 MP3 player we got for the kids and it has much better sound quality using the same cable and input so I know it's not there. I've also tried multiple 2.5mm->3.5mm adapters with no change. Different ROMs also don't seem to make a difference in it. I can only conclude, then, that it has to be the audio hardware.
I would like to find a device that uses the A2DP profile to sync with my phone and has a phono (headphone) or RCA output plug or jack so that I could hook it into my car stereo. Any one know of such a beast?
This is bad news. I have been digging around trying to find an adapter that would allow me to use the phone as my mp3 player, whilst allowing me to plug in an external powered mic, so I can can cradle the phone in a mount and get decent talk volume to my caller. In fact, I just order a 4gb card to get more of my library on the go.
I'll have to give my daughters iPod a try and see if there is any difference. As much as I hate iTunes, maybe I'll have to spring for a new iPhone. I would upgrade to the 8525, if not for the micro SD, which is yet another rant for me. It irks me to no end that every device I have seems to use a different card format. I think HTC is not doing right by the customer to go to the micro SD format. As it stands, I could not use my SX66 cards in my Wizard. I have a hard time believing the micro to mini would drastically change the form factor.
If you mean the voice portion is totally muddled... you either have a defective headset or a defective jack. I suspect that there's a short from the sound to ground...

Bit of an old post, but if anyone's interested, Connects2 does an adapter that is just as you describe. It is a BTAV01 Bluetooth interface for A2DP. Connects to any aftermarket radio with RCA connectors

I have the Sony Ericsson HBH-DS980 and they work great. I am able to pair them with my laptop for stereo and also with the Kaiser for calls. Then when I leave the office I can pair exclusively to the Kaiser.
Work great and have suprizing battery life.

Plantronics Pulsar 260: These worked ok over all, but two negatives. Music quality was not up to par, and volume was just to low. They are worthless in a noisy environment.
Moto HT820: These work flawlessly. Functionality is perfect. Sound quality is awesome for bluetooth head phones. Only one negative. They are HUGE. I couldn't wear them in public without some embarrassment.
Moto SoundPilots s705: I like this type of ear phones overall. Music playback was a little bertter than ok, and it had a FM radio. I liked that! But I had to return them because everybody said I sounded muffled on them.
Moto s9: These are the ones I have settled down with. I was skeptical they could match the sound quality of the HT820s, but they do! I like the form because they don't stick out like bug ears. The one negative, phone calls only play in one ear. What's up with that? All the others play in both years.

when you install the Jetware software all the features of the DS980 work except for viewing phonebook and music track name.
You're able to see your call history etc, owner information and voice dialling over bluetooth with MS Voice command

it has in ear buds attached so you can't fit your own to the DS980, it's a sony walkman product anyway so you know they're going to be normal sony quality

Moto HT820 and DR-BT10CX and i just ordered the HBH-DS970. The first two works good on my Kaiser and Treo 680.
I find that the DR-BT10CX has a longer range compared to Moto's. And even though its a small headset, it seems to last longer than my moto's.

They are big, over-the-head headphones...but I listen a lot to music every day, and sometimes in noisy environments (in trafic walking to/from work, at the gym), AND most of my music is in the trance/techno/electronica/dance genres...so I prefer a headset that has lots and lots of bass...and these are the best wireless headphones I have heard in that department...actually...they are the best headphones I have had in that area, period!

The Motorola S9 are pretty cool and absolutely a must for working out. They are pretty thin and since they wrap around the back of the head, many people don't even notice you wearing them. One problem I had with them was that the volume buttons got stuck and could only adjust volume down. Soon enough I could not hear and had to exchange them. I figured it was due to heavy sweating while working out. This pair I wipe down after every workout and they've been fine.
I tried SONY CMT-HX5BT HiFi stereo without problem Also volume control works like a charm
I've been using the Nokia BH-501 and they seem to work great. Doesn't have as many controll function as of the the other ones but their pretty light and comfortable. They also fold and has 11hours play time in music mode. For $40 from buy.com its not a bad deal. Also found the Motorola HT820 for $29.99 from n1wireless.com. Best deal I've seen on those.
I would like to know what are the good headsets available for kaiser where the sound quality is great without any call drops and static and which is compatible with dutty's v3 .
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I currently use the Blue Ant Z9 with Dutty's v2 (Medium) ROM. Works great.
And I would like to know what this has to do with Kaiser upgrades. C'mon guys, is it that hard to use the appropriate forum?
I have tried several headsets (sony 980, Motorola 820, and Jabra 8010) and have settled on using the jabra set as my primary set because it is more comfortable then the 820, and does NOT have drop issues like the sony 980. the moto set works verY well but i found the wrap around uncomfortable. I'm using Dutty's v2 currently.

I started using Motorla S9 , its one of the best bluetooth headsphone / handsfree i have used. The stereo quality is gr8 !! and even the handsfree is good even with little bit of noise around you . i recommed the S9!.
HTC S100's with a decent pair of headphones for me. (Usually my little B&O earphones, occasionally my big old Sennheisers)

Another 8040 here. So far so good. Waiting for the Invisio Q7 to launch next month.
jabra bt 620s here . I love it , don't have any problems. Only when I go by bike and the wind is blowing in mic when calling but that is to be expected.
The Jawbone is the best headset on the market IMHO. Works phenominally with the TILT.
I have 3 headsets. 2 of them are incredibly quiet, even at full volume. The 3rd is a Jawbone. It is actually painfully loud, but sounds great, to me and to the other person on the phone. I would go for that.

Another vote for the Jawbone. Works great. Also can attest to the performance of the Sony Ericsson HBH DS980 stereo headset. Works great as well...but you need the bluetooth extensions from JetWare to get it to do almost everything....phone book transfer doesnt work but everything else is there.

I think the OP requested information on the 'best bluetooth *headphone*'. The Jabra 8040 seems to be a headset, and seems to only able to answer phone calls and not play music, as one ear is left uncovered and void of hearing any sound.

Plantronics Voyager 855.
Better than the S9's I've had. Better than the HS820 headphones.
Awesome as a regular BT headset. Semi-noise reduction and even EQ sound as a stereo A2DP headset.
What is the best BT headset with A2DP and a mute button if there are any?
At the very least I am looking for a good BT headset for the Raphael that has a mute button. I constantly need to mute unmute my calls and I can't believe the Raphael doesn't have more side buttons. I have a fuze and am trying to program the PTT to do this but so far no luck. thanks for any info.

It a great headset. Only issue is the boom on it feels kinda weak.
Sennheiser MM200
I got some with my sony wireless walkman, didn't realise they took calls too, freaked me out when my Boss' voice came through...
They have play, pause (as good as mute) functions and next / previous track, and volume control too.

I bought the Bluetrek Duo headset, it can be used both like a single or an A2DP headset. Works like a charm both ways with touch pro, music plays realy nice. It comes with 3.5mm jack so you can put whatever headset you wish.

how does your s9 work outside?
i have the hd and inside its great but outside its absoloutely awful
and if i put the phone close to to my head its bad but somehow if its in my pocket it works better
Any more reviews on Voyager 855? I just ordered one, it looks like it will solve all the problems that I have.

I thought the S9HD is a better one ... how is the 'talk' when you're outside say window down or in the bus/train?
I'm still waiting for it to be available in Australia.. sigh~
I used Voyager 855 and returned it as it got some cracking noise when put it in my pocket (pants)... music quality is good but not as loud enough. A few issue when trying to make it works for the first time....
Also thinking of getting the DRBT21GB as well.. to see how well it perform...

I like my s9-hd. Gets pretty good range. Sounds good in stereo. Good enough in calls. only issue I have is bike commuting. I have the phone in my saddle bag behind me and it seem to be about 60% successful. Sometimes it is perfect. other times it is so skippy that I just go without. If I put it in my camleback when I mountain Bike I have no issues at all. The only thing I can think off is that wither tha fabric of the bag is interfering or my body is interfering, or both.

I had S9, then Switched to HD version. Love it. I'm in construction, so noise is an issue, but with S9HD I enjoy music, bluetouth and perfect earplugs. Highly recommended. Just watch out for ebay fakes. I bought mine at Best Buy with $10 extra fro 2 year warranty, No regrets
I just got MotoROKR S605. IMHO, it's simply one of the best BT stereo headsets on the market. I had Jabra BT3030 before, but it wasn't loud enough; then i had Sony Ericsson DS980, but battery life sucked; Finally, i found S605 that has decent headsets that come with it, battery meter is a good option too. It has a built-in radio, all control buttons are so easy to access. The only con it has - micro usb charging port.

yes i have the hbh-is800 and its great. Sound is good and loud.
i also have the Plantonrics Voyager 855. I find the hbh-IS800 better because its small and pretty. The bluetooth is better by the hbh-is800.
I advise you to HBH-is800
FWIW - pretty happy with my Voyager 855. Performs well in mono and stereo. Way better than my old Motorola headset on all counts. My only gripe is that none of the included earbuds fits my ear quite well enough to go without the ear hook for any real length of time (and certainly not if I was being active).

I agree..i ordered my 855 from buy.com for around 50 bux but it wouldnt turn on..so i sent it back got another one and i fell in love right away..and yes none of the earbuds fit my ear either forcing me to use the hook and that still causes it to pull away from my head eventually causing the headset to hang and point down which looks retarded but whatever..(i wonder why more headset companies dont use flexible earhooks like my old jabra bt160 had..it also vibrated which was fun )..except when using the stereo adapter..that stays in about 80% of the time..and when JAMMED in the sound quality is quite good..enough to get some good bass..my only gripe is you cant change the volume unless the bt is active (in call while connected or with a2dp active) and ive been experiencing some weirdness lately..maybe its my rom but sometimes it will just disconnect from my device and force the call back to the handset and sometimes i cant get any audio when making a call forcingme to use the nadset until i turn off and on the 855..but other than that im glad i bought it
