This application even works on my metro PCS WM phone - Networking

my friend told me that there is this new cell phone player which has the capability to stream videos from
you tube, google, dailymotion and myspace when you search for one video but at first I thought he was kidding but later I found out that there is an cell phone application
can do this amazing stuff. This mobile application is called Avotmv and you can download this aaplication at http://www.avotmv.com it plays videos from you tube, google, dailymotion and myspace
the best news is that it's free and it will play on any phone windows mobile phone. My favorite part of about this application is that you don't have to have a specifc cell phone carrier.

Holy cow!!! this is the best thing that has happen to me after a long time. I love this application this is best video search application I have ever seen so far.
it works great on my windows WM phone. It plays videos without getting stuck and it's full screen what more can you ask for?

i'm connected via wifi. clicked on a video/thumbnail, but am stuck at the buffering page ..
how long does it take to stream a video?
i installed the app on storage card, could that be the reason?
thnx! looks like a wonderful app / service (if it works, that is..)

I can't get the video to play, i can that it gets loaded 100% then i see that the play button is activated but when i click on it nothing, the video doesn't start playing but the icon next to the last gets highlighted and i can click again and see the pause button but that's it.
Tried with different stories but same result, what am i doing wrong?
i love the program! ive been using it for a couple of months now and no problems. well...nini1...maybe you should go into the programs settings and see what you have checked. i put highest quality under media type and best for audio as well.(under tools and then options).
try that and see what happens.

Online Movie Streaming.

Ive used search and aint find anything that had to do with this topic. If this topic has been created already please guide me to the right place. Im fully aware that flash player beta is coming out next month. And im also aware that there's an app called LukLuk in the market that does this. Now here is my question. LukLuk dont seem to work for me it keeps force closing everytime i try and load up the movie list. Im wondering if there are any sites out there to where you can stream movies from? Converting movies into mp4 format and then loading it up to our SD card takes to long. And even when we do get flash player, what sites will we be using to stream movies from? so what sites do you guys use? i have a rooted phone and also aware that the HERO ROM already comes with a flash player, but im not using hero because its very laggy. so brings me back to the same question... what sites can i go to, to stream movies from online? Thank you to anyone who will help me.

I dont know of any movie sites that'll work on the g1...believe me, i've searched...but there is an app called jetflicks that streams tv shows...only it's kinda expensive and it'll be a subscription service by October...there's also a program called doubletwist that'll easily convert any movies you might have on your pc to a format that's viewable on the g1...the good thing about this program other than it's free, is that it automatically detects whatever mobile device you have, no messing around with settings or whatever...hope i helped a little bit...but hey, if you do find a movie website compatible with the g1, hook me up, will you?
I dont think their are any that are worthwhile now.

I'm pleased to announce that this newer build is much, much better than the old beta I had made before (and that had been understandably ignored by pretty much everyone) here's what works:
-Flash Player. Yay!!!!. A build under 87 MB (original build, 89 MB with rev1) with full flash support, both in the browser and as streaming video. It's a resoruce hog, though, so use with care (you can disable plugins in the browser settings to deal with this)

Good luck finding a site, as soon as one gets popular it's host will shut it down or they'll recieve a C&D. If you do find one don't expect it to stick around for longer than a month. Just use Handbrake or Media Coder to convert your videos.

I wouldn't get cocky if you don't know what you're talking about ;-) ...I've seen videos of Hero's playing youtube videos, and surely Hero's would use the same version of flash as those in our builds...

I Will be sure to hook you up when i come across one. I Downloaded JetFlicks, Its a pretty cool app. 14 bucks aint really that expensive. But its pretty cool a good time killer while im at work. i remember when i had the T-Mobile Dash, there was so many sites that streamed movies. now i own a G1 and there's no sites at all. lol im really thinking about buying the Touch Pro 2. its a beautiful phone. I tested it out for a full 24hr's and returned it the next day because i realized how much i hated WinMO lol. but im really thinking about going back to it. lol

Just like others said don't get to cocky. Not all videos are in flash 10.
I know back before we even had cupcake I was able to go to nbc.com and watch tv shows.
some people have had success with orb but most can't get it to stream over 3g/edge.
I'm going to try tonight to see what I can get. If I can get it streaming video I'm buying a tv turner for the computer. It would be nice if I could just stream the videos I already have on my pc though.

I've also read that gmote could do it as well, I just wanted to try orb first because I already had it installed on my computer at home. I didn't have a lot of time to play with it so I had the same results as most people. Could stream via wifi with no issues, but wouldn't work over 3G. Hopefully this weekend I can play with forwarding some ports on my router or try gmote and get one of them to work.

I don't know about the OP, but i'm looking for an app that will allow me to stream video from my computer.
That being said I tried LukLuk out and it looks like it could be a great time waster but it keeps force closing on me as soon as I try to login. I can use Trial, but that only gets you trailers.
dont bother with orb you have to be in front of your computer to set up a stream and when it stops you have to start it from your pc again
Tried out gmote last night... and it can stream from your computer, but only jpeg, mp3, mp4, and some others... Can't do divx, or avi.. so not what I am looking for...

This was my experience as well - although Orb worked very well, it would occasionally stop on the PC end. I used LogMeIn to remote desktop into my pc from my HTC Mogul to restart it, but I got sick of doing this and decided not to use Orb when I switched to my HTC Touch Pro.

App for playing video over home network

Any one know of an App like air video for the iPhone it allows you to watch video files over your home network or 3g a bit lke using home group in windows.
Ive searched the market using all the terms i can think but nothing shows up, any help would be great.
I've seen ORB around on the market...that should do it?
ORB works a treat

HD2 Youtube app is crap!

On my laptop and desktop, I can find official music videos of songs quite easily, but on the youtube app on the HD2, it's very difficult, seems like the searches are filled more with chipmunk versions of the songs that I am searching for.
So what I'm testy about is that the youtube app on the hd2 seems to be filtered so that you can't easily find the good official music videos.
I'm sure it runs tip tops for most of the users and I'm sure this topic will get 100,000 views without a single reply, but I just felt like making it aware that the youtube app is crippled.
That is all.
Haven't used it much to look for music videos, so I'll take your word for it. But for what I've used it for, it's fine. I don't like that it doesn't open if someone sends a link to you on an email or text, wish they would fix that.

I feel you! That has happend to me a few times. If someone talks about a youtube video on twitter or something it is a pain in the ass to find unless I know the title literally word for word. Also..It does work really well if I am bored and just want to watch some videos. So It doesnt not suck that bad
It sucks for channels too. I have added several to mine, It does not sort channel videos by post date, I follow several that post a few a week and vlogs would prefer the most recent to be at the top, I cannot seem to figure out the sort pattern it is using, it just seems to randomly select videos from the channel.
When i got the HD2 i thought id shift alot of my youtube viewing to it and get away from the PC, however that youtube app makes for so much work to try and find a channel's most recent video posts that i almost never use the app.
Really all its good for is viewing the "most popular" or "newest" videos that come up on the very 1st screen of the app, or if you know of an EXACT title to search for
The youtube app in the marketplace seems to do a better job with sorting vids, but its a piece of crap to use on the HD2, video quality is horrible. I dont know why there are 2 different versions of the youtube app

Yeah, If you get a youtube url from an email or text, it should open up the youtube app, how hard can it be to set it up like that? It's the littlest things like this that add up.
Like for example, I just youtube'd on my laptop "Like a G6 Far East Movement" and got their official music video, I did the exact same thing right now on my HD2 using the youtube app and it said "No Videos Found".
Something is filtering the HD2's search queries.

Just answered my own question looking at the about info on the HD2 youtube app, its written by HTC, whereas the marketplace one i believe is written by youtube.
The HTC app is great for viewing if they could just get the searching and the sorting of channel videos straightened out
If I use Opera to search the phrases that find the videos on my laptop, it will find them just fine on youtube.com, but my Opera version has no flash and I don't like Internet Explorer on the HD2. Oh well, It works fine, just doesn't find the official music videos some times, does a damn good job at finding the chipmunk versions of the songs I search for.
I wonder if this is a youtube/copyright issue...Hmmmmm conspiracy!

I forget the name of the addon, but there is one that uses the IE browser's flash plugin in opera and it works decently well with youtube. I tried it for awhile, but hated that whatever the addon does it must change the browsers user agent string because the "my account" features no longer work because it cant detect it as a mobile browser.
The addon here here on XDA, some searching aught to find it. I dont have a URL handy
Of course when you remove the addon it does not seem to reset the browsers useragent string to the opera default one. I ended up having to hardreset my phone to get everything working as it was prior.
Youtube and Youtube Mobile are two very different things. Youtube Mobile uses streaming .3gp media, while regular Youtube is flash based.
When a video is uploaded to Youtube, it has to be converted to .3gp format in order for most mobile phones to play it. Obviously when your talking millions and millions of uploads some videos get passed over. Go to www.m.youtube.com in your desktop browser and search for something, you'll see the same results you get on mobile.
Solution: download Skyfire and use real Youtube: problem solved.
Hope this helps.
~Jasecloud4
Judging by the video quality of the videos in the HTC youtube app, im pretty sure it is pulling the .mp4 video files from youtube. Youtube by default serves up the videos on their website in .flv and .mp4. If you use firefox install a plugin called "DownloadHelper" and you'll see the videos available. Each youtube video page has about 6-8 different .flv/.mp4 files linked to it of differing video qualities. When youtube is completely unstreamable in the evenings, ill use downloadhelper to queue up downloads of the .mp4 files of videos i want to watch, and then just sit and watch them all using media player classic from the klite mega codec pack once they all finish downloading. using the .mp4 files and media player classic also has the benefit of being less of a resource hog. flash video playback will peg my CPU at 100% the whole time. the .mp4/MPC combo usually stays under 50%
I think the official youtube app in the marketplace, and the youtube.com that pulls up in mobile browsers uses the .3gp format which looks like utter crap on our HD2s.
agree... it's slow sometimes...
It's been like this on just about every phone I've had. They should really look into making it better, it bothers me as well
App download
Try downloading the app called skyfire it is a browser that activates the adobe flash features & plays better movies

Yup thats it, like i said though it changes something, likely the browser's user agent string, so the t-mobile my account webpage will say that you need to use a mobile browser to access this site. basically i think they've changed the user agent string to emulate a desktop browser so sites like youtube will load the full real youtube site and not the mobile version by default.
I wish that addon would leave the user agent string alone, because its not much trouble to scroll down to the bottom of the youtube mobile site and choose to view the desktop version, which i believe it remembers until you clear your cookies anyways so you dont have to deal with it that often

Yeah it does change the user agent in the registry. I found a key in "HKLM/Opera/Prefs/User Prefs/Custom User-Agent" that contains the agent I picked in the fixOperaFlash app. I wonder if one could simply insert the original agent string back (or delete the custom key entirely) with the flash bits still working properly?
Edit: Confirmed, I nuked the above key entirely. Started opera and it had reverted to it's stock user agent. Went to youtube, scrolled to the bottom and clicked the desktop link, then plugged in a video that I know is not available on youtube mobile, worked great. Tmo MyAccount seems to work properly as well.
i just want it to run like it does on android, when i was using my g1 i would search for videos on the browser and all the videos would pop up just like on a computer that wouldnt pop up on the g1 youtube app, then i would click it and play it through the youtube app just fine and great quality. They should of made it like that and i remember someone on this forum told me there was a regedit that you could do to make it do that on this phone but i dont know if you have to flash a new rom or get it from this forum or not.

It's in general and neither in android nor windows phone 7, and he said IE. So I am going to assume it's windows mobile.
Well, I don't use winmo anymore (well, i don't think anybody does) so I really dont know how to fix that or what that crappy streaming app is. But I can suggest the removal of "thata crappy streaming media" app and trying again, supposing you don't use it.
