as wrote in my post, I've already done that... but that means only to not show the message directy, when it arives. I've already unlick that checkbox, but there is still an notification on the screen when i get a mail, which says "you have x unread messages"... from there you can "dismiss" or "show"...

Wow, i had that question in my mind, answer came before the question. Thanks rudegar.

Call your service provider (AT&T, etc.) and tell them about the notification problem. Provide info...they can fix for you from their end. I had the notification problem when after listening to voicemail, the word and icon remained on my device.

I don't think, that my provider can help, because I use Direct Push, which communicates directly with our own Exchange-Server... my provider provides only the possibility to connect to the internet. It must be a hidden setting in WM-registry or something like that

OK, sorry 'bout that. I have direct push mail available, but don't use it because of what you're experiencing right now. I just go on the internet to check and read my mail. I'm not all that familiar with direct push; don't really know how it works.

For those still looking for the answer for this; the only way to turn this off when using Push mail is by setting the following registry value:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D65A-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}
set value "Options" to 20000000 (hexadecimal) or 536870912 (decimal)
Note that this disables email notifications completely, so if you want just a sound or a vibe, you'll have to use some other tool (e.g. MortScript) to achieve that.

i found this on another site.It may help you..
1. Install a registry editor like Resco File Explorer’s add-on registry editor or PHM registry editor.
2. Open HKEY_CURRENT_USER
3. Tap control panel>notifications
4. Tap default
5. Tap options
6. Choose what value will be applicable to you and replace the default number with it (for XDA Atom, the number was 13, I replaced it with 8 to suit my preference):
0 show icon
1 show icon and play notification sound
2 show icon and vibration
3 show icon and vibration and play notification sound
4 same as 0
5 same as 1
6 same as 3
7 same as 3
8 show icon and notification bubble
9 show icon and play notification sound and show notification bubble
10 show icon and notification bubble and vibration
7. If you want to configure how long the notification bubble will stay on the screen, tap on duration instead of options. Change the number there into the number of seconds you want the notification bubble to stay up.

I've created a CAB that does the following changes, however SMS notification is still working (which is ok for me).
Code:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D65A-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}
set value "Options" to 20000000 (hexadecimal) or 536870912 (decimal)

OK, guys, I managed to switch off the annoying visual notifications for missed calls and SMS by setting the 536870912 value for "Options". But there's a problem - I cannot get any sound notification for new SMS Is there anyway to get sound/vibration with all other visual notifications turned off? Please tell me "yes"

Has anyone found a solution in the meantime? I'm still searching for a way to disable the "visual notification" without loosing the new-email-sound.

JR...AWESOME JOB ! Thank you so so so so much for sharing this cab file....I am so happy I didn't have to go into the registry to make the change !!!!

So I kinda had the same question. I'm using s2u2 but I don't like the notification popping up when its activated. The whole screen turns black except for the notification bubble, which kinda defeats the purpose of using s2u2. I have disabled all but the downloaded mms notification cuz is greyed out on my device? Is this normal on everyones device? I don't wanna lose sounds, I just want the bubble gone

Would be great to have this, especially with S2U2 and PocketCM.. Is there still no way?

tried that still got the bubble.. does that work for the xdaII?
Do you guys means this:
Go to Start/Setting/Sound and Notifications/Notifications
Select SMS:New SMS Message (point 1)
Uncheck Display Message on Screen
Why on earth do you want to disable the notification bubble? I reckon it a highly appreciated icon

That's for incoming SMS. The one I posted deals with the SMS notification bubble that appears after a message has been sent.

Yes, it's specifically for the XDAII cos there's no notification bubble for the XDAI. You probably entered it wrongly.

i appreciate the notification too. But preferences are individual, I know there would be some out there who'd prefer not to see the bubble after sending an SMS.
it is importent issue, yes I do not want my I-Mate to power on when I receive a SMS. How can I do that. why because I got a lot and want to save power and the most importent is when the I-Mate in pocket and off than it is powered on by SMS some time I-Mate calls others while it is in my pocket.

I remember that someone once posted a message in this forum asking how to disable the SMS Sent notification. His problem was that he was sending an SMS message to a very large number of recipients and the continuous stream of SMS Sent notifications was very annoying. I also experienced the same problem when I changed my phone number and notified via SMS everyone in my contacts list. The barrage of beeps and SMS Sent notifications that followed was really annoying. It would have been good to disable the notification at least temporarily.
NOTE TO EVERYONE: We're talking about the SMS Sent notification, not the SMS Received notification.
Why I can't see any Settings in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings]?
Try to create that "Settings" key ... then create the SMSNoSentMsg string...
I just tried this and it DOES work...
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings]
The only thing to maybe note is SMSNoSentMsg is a numeric value, not a string value like the above says.

Well, in that case there' a way to control this "inconvenience" by a registry trick..
\HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\
Give a value of "35" to the DWORD string "WakeupPowerOff".
This controls the # of seconds following a non-user input event wakeup such as an alarm, the # of seconds without user input activity before the system suspends. But mind you to keep it close to 30 secs because of Alarm settings otherwise you screw up the alarm power on and off which is not appropriate 8)

After when you have edited the registry. You can modify the display, sound and duration of red LED from the Sound & Notifications thru the Control Panel..
Any luck... :?:
I think it works! Although its stupid to post yourself, i tried - and there you go! If you get an sms, the notification Is still there, but the bubble only pops up, if you tick the notification icon. That's just what i wanted.

on my imate JAM you can have (talking about SMS IN) this even without the registry edit. it is in settings sounds & notifications just untick display on screen message and you will only get the envelope when an sms comes in.... tapping the envelope will show you the message. As for the SMS SENT reg edit I will be trying it now... I'll report how it works out too.
Ok I tried this out (SMSNoSentMsg) and it works for me

SMS Notification Problems

Hi guys.
I seem to be having SMS notification problems. Upon receiving a SMS I get the notification fine, but when I dismiss it it does not go away unless I dismiss it a second time.
This is very annoying and hopefully not a "feature" of WM5 notifications.
Furthermore it does not seem possible to dismiss the voicemail notification AT ALL...
Reg fix anyone?
Thanks for any help!

I can't say you are the only one, but for certain, I do not have that problem. As for voicemail, once it is listened to, the vmail indicator/notification should go away.
Damn so then its a problem with :
a) Software I have installed
b) extended rom cab i have not installed
c) the planet alignment...
As for the voicemail yeah listening to it makes the notification go away, but surely "dismiss" should make it dismiss without needing to actually hear the voicemail ?
Anyone have any ideas ? I can post exactly what roms/software I have installed if it helps...
Cheers!
The "sms" that you have received is not a normal sms notifcation from the voicemail.
I think your voicemail has an extra option for notification, it's called "icon notification" in a normal phone you will see an enveloppe which tells you there are new voicemail messages. this enveloppe can only be deleted by listening to all new messages, after you've done that the voicemail will send a notification to your phone to turn the icon off.
BUT windows mobile 5 cannot handle the icon notification which means the icon will not be removed if you listen to your voicemail messages. while you're listening to your new voicemail messages you will notice that you will receive an empty sms (this is the notification for the phone to turn the icon off) unfortunately the phone does not understand the notification to turn the notification off, so as far as I know there's no way to get rid of the message.
I solved it by turning off the icon notification option in the voicemail, then did a hardreset and but my backup back.
I hope you understand what the option icon notification, otherwise just ask!

SMS Notification Window

Does anyone know how to turn off the notification window so that when I receive a text message it doesn't give me a pop up windows showing it?
Thanks

This is well documented in the tweaks section of the Hermes wiki:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Hermes
Unfortunately, there is no such a tweak.
OH! I thought he was talking about the "Message Sent" notification. MY FAULT! Sorry guys! I should read these things more carefully.

Try this.
Start>Settings>Personal>Sounds & Notifications>Notifications
Select "Messaging: New Text Message" from the Event List
Make sure the "Display message on screen" tick box is unticked
Press OK to save settings.

Probably enough for mdavenport, but not for me because it still changes a softkey to Notification and popups that window once I press it. For me an icon in the titlebar would be just enough. Do you know how to fully disable the notification?
Location Based Informatio - Cell Lookup
I have a hermes and wasnt to use PhoneAlarm to switch profiles depending on the cell that I am in.
I have got the app working but no cell information is coming up.
I did read somewhere that you have to change a couple of registry values to "de-restrict" the phone to allow this information to work.
Any ideas anyone?
Please let me know of anything else I can try to get this working....
Thanks

Sorry didnt mean to post this here, have started a new topic....
Just to carry on this thread, I have a O2 P.A.Y.G sim in my Vario II
When I send a text I get a notification of how much left (I can live with this and in fact like it) but I also get a notification tone/jingle a default Tmobile one, I have gone to the extent of muting the handset and disableing all notifications in the settings menu, but still I get a tone/jingle.
Is there anyway of turning this sound off
Forgot to sayI looked into the registry and the lines in WiKi are not there on my machine
SMS Notification Always On
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings]
"SMSDeliveryNotify"=dword:00000001 ->0 to disable, 1 to enable.
Disable SMS Sent Notification
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings]
"SMSNoSentMsg"=dword:00000001 ->0 to enable, 1 to disable.
I have no SMSDeliveryNotify
or
SMSNosentMsg
OK I added Settings to the inbox etc.. and yes I have lost the message sent....
BUT! I still get a sound notification (notify) with my remaining balance .. Is this an O2 thing in a kinda speech bubble.
Now I'm losing what little hair i have

Even if there was a setting to just get rid of the noise that would be fine, but no matter what volume you have set it's the same annoying thing
OK

SMS Sent Notification

I've got an annoying problem that I can't seem to fix....there is no option in Notifications to change how sent sms notifications arrive - so it vibrates and chimes every time. I need to keep the notifications themselves on, just without the audible notification!
Also, there is an option to set this for MMS messages which seems odd...
Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.
Dude- Im sure you have checked the settings in START>Settings>Sounds&Notifications right
Yeah. There is no option to change the notification for sms delivery reports though.
That's strange. it should be on the Notifications Tab in Sounds and Notifications. On the drop down list it should say "Messaging: New text message" you don't have that?
It's 'Messaging: New SMS Report' that I need and seems to be missing.
I have the same problem. I receive a LOT of SMS messages daily (100 and counting just today) and its horrible to get the same sound every 5 minutes!
I seem to have found the solution right here
http://www.saman-cz.com/ppc/index.html?drfovrw.html
Haven't installed it yet
Musicman - that settings is for incoming texts, on which you can set all the various options. 'Messaging: New text message'
Ubermark means that every time he sents a txt, you recieve a 'message sent' notification with sound.
What we are missing is a like for like setting for texts on 'Messaging: Sending MMS' - this would allow us to remove sound and/or notifications for text's sent.
Anyone any ideas?
Reg Edit to fix:

- create a new key "Settings"
- create a new string value "SMSNoSentMsg" and set the value to 1
do a search fro schap's tools and you can disable it from there

How to: Add alarm and Open New SMS

Hello,
Q1) There are only 3 alarms available in Windows Mobile 6.5. Does anyone knows how to add more?
Q2) Also, I remember when i was using HTC Touch, when new SMS comes in, it appears on the screen and i was able to either 'hide' or 'open' the SMS. On HD2, when I set it to show new SMS, I can only hide it but I can't open it to read. Instead, I have to go through 'HTC Messages'. Does anyone knows how to have both options 'hide' (on the left) and 'open' (on the right) available when new SMS shows up?
Please see attached screenshots if I did not manage to explain well.
Appreciate all kind advice.
Many thanks in advance!
I've tries to add more entries in the registry to add more alarms, but apparently it doesn't work.
and I've no clue for the sms issue either.
does anyone have the same issues as me? any clues?
thanks.
galarm
i guess
indeed, I've read about all e good comments about it. in fact, I installed it 2 months ago, but I encountered problems like battery drains n missed alarms. I've since uninstalled. maybe this problem is not too common with other users, but it was a problem for me..
thanks for your suggestion though.
pTravel alarm?
Works well for me and no battery drain... also if you are on the lock screen you can tap the open widget then swipe the sms widget and it opens sms screen or if you tap on the task bar it will give you the list of things to look at and one of them is the messages screen...
For the SMS, why not just turn off on-screen notification. When you get an SMS you'll get the usual audio/vibrate alert, and an icon in the taskbar. You can then just click on the SMS tab icon at the bottom and you're looking at the SMS. 1 click and you're there.
For the alarm question... there's a registry setting for this, but I don't know what it is. If you use BsB Tweaks you can enable "Windows Notifications" mode which "Enables dismiss X time in notification". This is a crap description and I used to just ignore this option as it sounded completely uninteresting. Then I found out what it is.
With this enabled, you get the option to select a sleep time for an alarm when it's going off (see the attachment). I doubt my boss would be impressed if I chose the last option though
It will at least free up your second alarm as you could just snooze the first one for 10 minutes.
I am also interested in the being able to open an sms from the notification dialog...
On Q1: I've been using SPB Time since quite long time. The new edition 2.1.2 is really awesome. And it answers to your question
On Q2: When I receive sms I have sound + icon above on the taskbar. So if I click on the icon - "notification" window opens and after another click on new sms icon you see your sms. Just you pay one click more.

indeed, i remember this option to open sms on notification used to be available in older wm versions. and we could also dismiss instead of hide the sms.
