sync problems on Vista - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hi all!
Yesterday I bought an XDA Exec PDA mobile and I've got a little problem with it. I can't sync with Vista.
I found a notification which says:
Note: Microsoft ActiveSync works only with Windows XP SP2 or earlier. If you have Windows Vista, your synchronization settings will be managed through the Windows Mobile Device Center. Windows Mobile Device Center is available through the Windows Mobile Device Center page.
If I know well I need ActiveSync to...sync. I've visited the "Windows Mobile Device Center page", downloaded the software and installed but nothing happened. I've already tryed to refresh the driver named...some kind of Adapter #2 (...) No matter. Still doesn't work.
I managed to install Windows Mobile Center but ActiveSync still cannot be installed.
Help, please!
PS: From Hungary

ActiveSync 4.1 install on Windows Vista 5342 beta ?

Hello,
I am beta testing Windows Vista Build 5342.
Has anyone managed to sync their device with Vista yet ?
I tried launching the ActiveSync 4.1 setup but it doesnt run.
I have a Wizard.
Thank you
vista is integration with ActiveSync ready!
you can sync the windows mobile device without ActiveSync 4.1!
Oh yea I read something about taht...but it doesnt seem to work with that latest build tho.
Are you jsut saying that or have you actually tried and got it to work ?
Vista does not use ActiveSync but a new version called Microsoft Mobile Device Centre. Try seeing if you can find this program on your beta version of Vista and this may work, however, there is speculation at the moment that the current build does not support WM5.
magnus, where did you get your Vista copy?
Sorry Evera but I cannot say.
if legit, it would be from Microsofts developer network, technet, or beta subscriptions membership.
When I test it with my Ipaq, I could not find the supposed control panel item for MS mobile Device Center. It was no where to be seen, Active sync 4.1 would install, but then inform you that it is integrated withi the OS (although the last line of the message has a chopped font).
It did not appear, until after I connected my PDA, and it automatically installed the drivers and initialised Mobile Device Center.
I have yet to try it with my wizard..
I tried magician on vista, file transfer from pc2ppc is OK,but sync with outlook--no good.
Yea Paul please let me know how it goes.
I plug mine in and it installs the driver but doesn't open any piece of software.
Thanks
Sorry if I bump an old thread but what the hey:
Sync Center can be found under:
Control Panel > Network and Internet > Sync Center
Alternatively you can find the Windows Mobile Device Center under:
Control Panel > Additional Optons > Windows Mobile Device Center
The later allows quick transfers of files, images, video's and music. It also enables your device - if configured correctly to access the internet.
PLEASE NOTE THAT VISTA IS STILL IN BETA AND THAT ALL FEATURES, REQUIREMENTS ETC ARE UNDERGOING ONGOING CHANGES. THEREFORE WHAT MIGHT WORK IN ONE BUILD WON'T NECESSARILY WORK IN ANOTHER Glad we cleared that up
Finally, today an update came out to Mobile Device Center. We can finally sync our info to our devices on Windows Vista!

Atom & Microsoft Vista

Hi,
Is anybody having trouble syncing their Atom to Vista?
Im running Vista Ultimate and Windows Mobile 5.0.
I've connected it to the computer as usual with USB but instead of having active sync pop up, I only get a box that asks me if I want to sync music and photos.
The phone says connected but my calender does not update?
Any ideas?
u need to download microsoft mobile device center
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...EA-9DF9-4920-AF33-3A0E2E4E7BEB&displaylang=en

trying to get wizard (wm6) on Vista home?

hey im using the sync centre and when i connect my phone to the laptop nothing really happens? how can i flash my phone or at least start syncing my outlook etc?
Download WINDOWS MOBILE DEVICE CENTER from here
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/devicecenter.mspx
chosse what language you want it in from the Green text list and if it is a 32bit or a 64 bit Vista version
Install it and you will be able to sync your device
if that still doesnt let it sync start up WMDC Manually by clicking on start > all Programs > Windows mobile device center
WMDC sucks
That doesn't work. My device still isn't recognized by Vista
Change the USB port. Then look around for how to install Vista sp1
I just dealt with something similar. GOTO Start/programs/Accessories/USBSwitch and change serial to RNDIS
That should make vista see your device

if your PC using Win 7, of course you have to use WMDC to sync with your device..
and you can download it from here

Hi Hakim,
The link that you posted point to a page not found in Microsoft's website."Windows Mobile Device Center", or WMDC, is only available for Windows Vista.
Maybe Microsoft no longer supports WMDC beyond Vista. Thanks for the tips anyway.
Cheers
