HTC Home Voicemail?? - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

I have looked around on the site but haven't found any info on changing the missed call indicator to show the number of new voicemails. Has anyone ever looked into doing this?
I am not afraid of a little coding but, I am no code monkey lol.
Thanks for the input guys.

I also have a question about modifying the links on the HTC Home plugin. Both the messaging and the voice mail link are linked to text messages. The voice mail also displays the number of new text messages instead the number of new voice mails, and the message link displays nothing at all. Any way to modify this?

i think you may be misunderstanding what you display is showing. there is no VM count on the HTC Home. only a missed call display. try calling you phone and hang up...see if the one that you think is Text is really missed calls.
trust me i know what i am talking about.

stupid question -setup text messaging T-Mobile USA

I did try to search for the info on this, but no luck.
How do I setup text messaging on my jasjar? I have a plan with text messaging, but I don't know what to do to send and receive with jasjar. I know I have been sent messages, but I get no notification. Help will be appreciated.
ok now
Called T-Mobile tech support. In messaging you have to
Menu - find text message voice dial option then Get Settings to let it find it from the network.
But then it seems there is something they have to do on their end, because it didn't work until the tech support fellow changed something on his end.
anyhow, working now

Visual Voicemail App

Looking for suggestions on how to build a visual voicemail app, for instance at the moment I have mvisualvoicemail installed,it captures the information from my inbox and displays the number that called, the time and length of the voicemail and lets you play it (you have to set activesync to download the entire message). What it doesn't display is the transcripted text and that is what I'd like to have or create.
Here is what I know:
My provider sends my voicemail to spinvox, spinvox transcribes and sends me a wav attatchment and in the body there is a transcription of the voicemail.
It Looks like this:
FROM: <10digit Phone Numer>[[email protected]]
TO: [myemailadress]
Subject: "Voicemail for" [myphonenumber]
Attatchment: 001voicemail.wav
Body:
You have a new voice mail from ########## sent on YYY/mm/dd-hh:mm:ss.
The converted text is:
"converted text here"
To hear the message, dial in and press ##17.
The voicemail is attached. Spoken through SpinVox
there are other visual voicemail out there did you want to stick wit spinvox or would be willing to try something different i know youmail.com and callwave transcribe and can send the emails to you if you don't mind switching you might want to check those out i don't think callwave is free but if you want to try it out let me know i'll see if i can still do the free account thing
I am already a subscriber to spinvox which is through my carrier (Telus Canada), I get it for 7.50 unlimited so I am really looking for a solution to that service. Like I said in my previous post mvisualvoicemail works great for this it actually identifies which of my email are voicemail and only displays those however I would like an app that pulls in the transcripted version too, so I can be selective in which ones I want to listen to. I figured if a program like throttle launcher can pull in the header information and display it, it wouldn't be too hard to make an app that pulls the information from an emailed voicemail and displays it nicely for review. Maybe I'll post over in the throttlelauncher thread as a request for a plugin actually.
Spinvox apparently has an app for windows mobile in a private beta test but they will not allow subscribers who subscribe through their carrier partners to use it yet.
oh okay yea the plug in for throttle launcher sounds like it might be a good idea i wish some of the us carriers would pick up visual voicemail for there service too i'd like to switch to sprint so i could use sero but they don't have call forwarding so that takes out the use of callwave or youmail aww well hope the throttle launcher plugin helps
now that i'm thinkin about it the emails that you get do they have a certain wording in the subject line of the email because i know in pocket outlook if you start typing what your lookin for it will sort if you could get it to where it's kinda predefined to type a certain word could probably run a script that outputs the info
but then again after reading all i just right might not be what your lookin for it to do
sorry just tossing ideas out

Is it possible to trigger based on incoming caller ID

I am looking for an app that lets me do stuff when certain incoming numbers (either a simple editable list or a selection of contacts) call..... essentially I want the phone to answer and then hang up immediately so the numbers don't get my voicemail, they just get rejected.
At the moment I have the contacts set with a silent ringtone so I don't get disturbed, but sometimes I get voicemails from them and I want to prevent these.
I have had a look at Mortscript and can find how to handle incoming calls, just not how to handle incoming calls from specific contacts in specific ways.
Any help appreciated
go to www.youmail.com
i like this free service and it handles caller id calls more efficiantly than any software you can purchase.
Thanks for the link, unfortunately it's US only and I'm in the UK.
CallFirewall does exactly that what you need.
Try this:
http://www.mobiion.com/magicall.html
It does everything you asked, and a whole lot more.
+1 for magicall... it rocks
Thanks for the links guys, downloading them both now
Call Firewall didn't quite do the trick as I could only get it to go to voicemail, but Magicall does 100% what I want, plus more, so I promptly coughed up the cash for it
Somewhere else on the forum there's a program what lets you make your own interface in html with js/flash. you can use that and make javascript countdown for x seconds and than let it pick up and hang up... or whatever you want not the best solution but it still is a solution

Google Voice usage

Picked up an IO phone, and since we cannot activate the Evo on our Sprint lines yet, I am starting to use my google number for my main number. Figure good time to switch.
Dialing in and out is fine so far. I like that I can control who rings through to what phone etc.
I am not sure I am a fan of how it handles text. Seems like all SMS go into gvoice, AND into handcent, but handcent comes from some 406 number.
Anyone find a way to work around this? Of a way to make texting work more like it does if they text your phone?
Disable Google Voice (on the website) from texting the #, and just use the Google Voice app for SMS w/ the GVoice #.
[off topic, but still maybe useful]
Just recently came up with a somewhat unexpected use for Google Voice: I programmed Google voice number into building's intercom system. Now when somebody tries to get into the building and dials my apartment, all my phones ring. Especially convenient, if you need to talk to UPS guy when you're at work.
Yeah, go to the website and disable SMS to your cell phone and just use the google voice application for texts.

Cool!
I do something similar at work.
I have my GV calls forwarded to my office desk number and my cell phone at the same time. This way I have the option to answer using my desk number or my cell phone.
Bah, this does not seem like a good solution.
Handcent, Chomp, etc, have a great popup that I really like. Going through google voice app all the time isn't as handy.
I was also a little surprised that I am not able to send or receive mms at all through google voice. So any pictures / links have to be sent directly to my phone.

I've been doing this for years. Never occurred to me to tell anyone else about it. Thanks.

Also very handy if you have roomates.
I use both Handcent and the Google Voice app. I add the 406 number to the contact then I know who I am messaging, and if I delete the message I can still message them from Handcent. I emailed the email for the Google Voice app to see if they would be able to add a quick reply somehow within the app. We shall see how that goes.....

This won't always work as the number changes depending on when the message is sent.
As for setting it up to not send SMS to my phone, I tried that and it didn't work. You have one of two options if you're in my situation. Tell the GV app to not notify you of anything, essentially making it useless. Or have Handcent block the number that GV sends you texts from. You have to block a new one whenever it shows a new number but it works decently that way. I'm just stuck with getting two messages until friday lol
I am with you. The whole txt message thing is why I'll probably never use google voice for much else besides maybe a call forward.

You either have to choose - use the GV app or use Handcent or whatever other SMS proggie you like. If you use the GV app, turn off SMS forwarding and all texts are handled within the GV app itself, no charges for texts with your carrier, and there is no need to deal with 406 numbers because the app is all integrated with your contacts.
If you need to use an SMS proggie, then of course you'll have to forward text to your GV account as SMS' and the benefit of GV is lowered.

Contacts/Phone app

Hi guys, I've just moved over from iphone so still finding my feet with android.
For the most part android is far superior but the contact side of things is still bugging me. This is what I want to be able to do:
1. Have my call log as calls only, not texts. I know you can change this to view calls received, dialled etc, but it soons defaults back and shows everything. I just want my log to have dialled and received and nothing else? I'm sure i've read somewhere on the net that this was possible on the SGS through a hack??
2. I want to set up a favourites list of say best mate, gf, work etc and just be able to press their name and it dials there number, not opens another window that shows history, text option, dial option video call option, i.e. just direct dial. I also would like this to be the first screen that opens when I press my phone icon on the dock??
I've set my gf up on my desktop as a direct dial shortcut, but I don't want to be doing that for everyone. I've got a load of contacts but maybe only dial 10 at most on a regular basis.
are there any hacks or thrid party dialers that do this??
Cheers

I can help you with #2. Just swipe right on your favorite and you call that favorite immediately. Swipe left to immediately send a message.

hmmm, can't say i can see a way around No.1, other than using a new dialer/contacts app such as Go Contacts or Dialer One etc..
must say, i actually quite like the comprehensive log, coming from Sense and Stock roms with calls only, i like having it all in one place...
Dialer One would be my choice, but only as i used it on CM7 on my Hero for its smart dial feature... can't comment on Go Contacts
hope this helps
Dickie
I use loads off texts a day so within 10 mins of dialling someone their details are long gone
I'll check out Go Contacts and Dialer One though, thanks for the recommendations
This is a Samsung thing, regular android does not put texts with the call log. I don't think I'd like them to be combined like that.
it is the right thing to do

I like them combined. There again, there could be an option to control it.
Go Contacts is just the ticket
Thanks guys, much better now
