Hi Robert,
Start here in the wiki. You'll find all the information you'll need to know to upgrade to WM6. There's a wealth of information there. So take your time and read through it.
Also, you can download the official WM5 from your carrier's website.
If you are unsure about something specific and it isn't answered in the wiki or forums, let us know and someone will be glad to help.
Good luck!

Hello,
thanks - i have found the wiki....
the problem, the original wm5 isn't on the carrier's website. There are no packages and no updates by t-mobile germany...
when i have the package, i would begin to update to wm6, but without the wm5 package there is no way back, i think....
Robert

I don't speak German, so you'll have to help me out on this one. But WM5 may be available here.

Hello,
i am also interested in upgrading my 64Mb XDA I to 2003 Version.
Nalye: How does the Upgrade worked? Do you have any problem in using or installing? Do you have any problems using the upgraded device with german O2? How about the Home-Zone Display and whole stability?
Thanks in advance!
Miwu
a cellphone company depend on the radiostack they dont know if you connect from a nokia phone or a xda with what ever rom
as long as you set it up right
@rudegar
Thanks for answering. German o2 uses a special application with the XDA, called "Home Zone Status", whats implemented in the original ROM provided by O2. With this application you get a special sign at the top of the screen if your device is in an defined area called HomeZone. The data used by this application must be provided by the gsm-part of the device, but i think, that the T-Mobile-Rom does not support the transfer of this informations because german T-Mobile does not provide this feature.
Does anyone experienced any solution for this problem?
homezone
i dn´t know ´bout a special program for displaying the hz-status, but i´m about to call o2 for an application to fix it.
the rom i cooked works well, but as you know every data got lost (about 350 sms or so) :x
try to cook it at www.yorch.net - coz stefan´s kitchen seems to be a lil´bit slow

Thanks to a friend!

I had some problems with my goold old XDA. A friend convinced me to uodate my XDA.
In the settings I read Microsoft Pocket PC Version 3.0.12039 (Build 11178)
and he upgraded it with XDA-developers software 1.2
The question is quiet simple: 'Is there a way to get back to my old XDA'
Can i format, or install old software?
Hope someone can help me
If you have a ROM backup of your old 'XDA' it's no problem.
Or you can install any ROM you want....
Stefan
Which ROM?
Can I just pick a rom from this site?
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=ROMVersions
My (former O2) XDA is now without simlock, do I put a simlock on it, if I pick one?
Thank you for your quick answer!
Yes, you can use one of those ROMs, or cook your own at http://www.romkitchen.de
The new ROM do not affect the Simlock of your device. So it will stay unlocked....

Dutch T-Mobile MDA Compact III to English!

I've been reading the forums, but I cannot find the solution to my problem. I just bought my T-Mobile MDA Compact II (HTC Artemis) in Dutch and I would like to change the language to English. I've read there's a T-Mobile ROM UK, but where can I download it? And how to install? If I connect to the FTP server the folders in Artemis are emtpy except for the EXT Rom folder. But the size of the rar's is a little low, not like I experienced with updating my rom on my Magician before. Those rar's were about 40-45MB. Anybody wants to help me please! If the thread is allready open somewheren, I apologise, please PM me then...
THANKS!!!

Edit: I read some more, got little more information, did some things. Yesterday I sim/CID unlocked my T-Mobile MDA Compact III trough imei-check.co.uk (respect for this guy!!), and now I can use it with my own carrier. Now that the simlock and CID lock is gone, I would like to change/update the rom to an English version. I don't mind the T-Mobile ROM, I only care about the English language. If it's possible to put an HTC ROM on my device, I would prefer that, but not completely necessary. What ROM should I use, because I heard that the Dutch version is the only one WITH an WiFi chip? Can someone point me in the right direction? In the FTP account I can only see the ext rom, I found this rom: HTC_1.12.405.01_026790_WWE_SHIP. Should this work with my current configuration?

English ROM for German Orbit 2?

Hi all,
I am SO eager to buy an O2 XDA Orbit 2 from Germany but I am kinda a bit too uneasy...
I will need to re-flash an English ROM to it. Either O2 UK's or HTC Touch Cruise's.
Does anyone know for sure that it can be done by simply re-flashing the ROM? No extra hacks needed?
And are these English ROMs available on the net yet?
Thanks a whole lot to all the gurus here in advance!
This is the info you need:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=368123&page=8
This is the file you need:
ftp://xda:[email protected]_radio_sign_25.65.30.04_1.58.21.23_Ship.exe
Thanks a lot!
Sorry, there is too much said in that thread, I don't think I'll find the answer to this one:
"Does anyone know for sure that it can be done by simply re-flashing the ROM? No extra hacks needed?"
I mean that I used to re-flash ROM upgrades to my Atom Life "just like that".
What if this ROM doesn't accept the Device ID of the German Orbit 2?
A number of users have flashed this rom on orbit II after hard spl and seems to be working fine. but i suggest you spend a couple of minutes going over the thread in any case. it's always useful.
do hardspl from olipro the geatest.
flash ROM
UR now fully WWE
PS: backup UR cab files from original rom first (operator settings....) they are in \windows\ - Polaris doesnt have extRom.
Apparently it seems that you will have to hard SPL to flash. But is is quite simple, so don't worry ;-)
(sorry, dupe of phsnake's post above. He beat me by 2 minutes ;-0 )

Don't worry, mate, I did just that two days ago. I had bought an XDA Orbit2 from O2 Germany and I hated the German ROM (actually I hate localized software even though English is not my mother tongue).
So what you do is really simple and there is no chance anything to go wrong:
1) Install HardSPL from olipro (you can find it in this forum somewhere)
2) Install the official (not the dumped one) WWE (World Wide English) ROM from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=368123
And that's it! Enjoy a "native" interface!
Later on you will be able to upgrade to any ROM by simply installing it over the previous one. The HardSPL step you do only once
O2 XDA Orbit II : cannot overwrite WWE on German, wrong vendor ID
Hi ingenious,
I need to use my XDA device in English as my German is too poor to be able to use German softwares.
I've tried steps you have described but still I am unable to write Polaris WWE on my O2 XDA Orbit II device. Can you help me?
Please give me your number at [email protected] so I could call you back for step by step guidance.
Where do you live in Saarbrücken? I've also studied in Uni SB 2002-2005 and now I live in Berlin.
I have all the files download from this forum, whoever has said something about download .
Also I have "Hard-SPL" , "Hard-SPL-V7" and "RUU_Polaris_HTC_WWE_1.25.405.1_radio_sign_25.65.30.04_1.58.21.23_Ship.exe".
What else do I need?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Here is what you need:

Thank you so much fktsndr:
I am successful in converting German O2 XDA Orbit 2 to English.
I used "Hard-SPL-V2.zip" from your given link and "RUU_Polaris_HTC_WWE_1.25.405.1_radio_sign_25.65.3 0.04_1.58.21.23_Ship.exe" as English rom.
Only TomTom was gone and is not working after new installation as advised in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1929057
but now my GPS device is not giving any signals.

How to upgrad MDA compact 3

Hi,
i just get a T-Mobile MDA compact 3 with T-Mobile-Software installed.
First i removed the sim-lock.
Now i want to get rid of the original T-Mobile-Software an install WM5 oder WM6.1.
I`m a real newbie in that, so please could someone give me a hint, where i can find WM6.1 and how to install it?
What else have i to do?
Greeting
Hagen
Sorry for my bad english.
The best hint: look in the artemis wiki and search the forum.
keywords: rom upgrade, uspl, cid unlock.
Most of this forum is about upgrading to WM6, so there must be a lot to find.

There is no ofificial WM6.1 for Artemis.
Last one is WM6.
A ROM is like a image from your device, that is dumped each time you make a hardreset (The operating system part). A Rom can also have or be a Radio ROM, that only updates your Radio.
