GPS Intermadiate Driver and Spinning wheel - Sable

Hello everyone,
I need some consultation about GPS Intermadiate Driver.
In fact I use .Net Framework to work with it and use methods:
GPSOpenDevice, GPSGetDeviceState, ...
Every time when I do next steps: GpsOpenDevice -> GpsGetPosition -> GpsCloseDevice. Everytime I see spinning wheel on GpsGetPosition if GPS doesn't detect any satellites.
Is't possible to turn off in some way this wheel?
I couldn't all time store not closed handle to GPS because in this case battery will run down very quickly.
Help me please.

GPS Control Panel

Not sure if this was addressed before (GPS is too short of a word for the search engine to return any results on).
Does the GPS Control Panel actually do anything on the Hermes? I read that it is supposed to allow more than one software to access the GPS at the same time. I've never actually been able to get it to do anything at all though.
I have a bluetooth GPS. I paired it, and opened an outgoing COM port (COM2). Telling GPS software to access that port directly works just fine. However, if I use the GPS control panel to use COM2 as my hardware port, COM9 as my "Program Port," and tell my programs to use COM9 instead, it just sits there, never even activating the GPS.
In summary:
BT-GPS -> BT on TYTN -> Outgoing COM2 -> GPS Control Panel -> COM9 software port -> GPS software
That above there is not working. Am I missing something?
(Secure connection is unchecked, and letting the software controll GPS automatically IS checked)
Same problem here. Tomorrow when I get some time I'm going to fiddle with the registry and see what's up. I'll post back with my results.
Ninja1
it allows you to run 2 gps application at the same time ie tomtom and memory map for example it usually hdden as unless you are running 2 gps apps its not needed
I would like to run 2 or more GPS apps at the same time. This thing just doesn't seem to actually do aything. GPS never turns on.

GPS Stopped working

Hi there,
My GPS suddenly stopped working. It used to work fine before, but now when I switch on the TomTom6 application, it says "No GPS Device". 30 seconds later it changes it to "Waiting for a Valid GPS signal".
Did I somehow disable the GPS? I am not that familiar with my P3600 and the TomTom Navigation. Please advice.
Thanks.

tomtom will always say "no gps device" when you first fire it up and it'll switch over to "no valid GPS signal," get into clear view of the sky and it'll find a signal.
Done that. Still not working. And it used to work fine a week ago.
Any other ideas?
me too
My GPS (tomtom trinity) is very quirky, too. I opened my GPS icon and set my gps program port to GPD1 and my hardware to COM 9. Worked immediately - then quit for a day - working again today. I don't understand what GPD1 is and I don't know what COM ports my other software and hardware uses - If I saw a listing, I might not understand but it would prob help. Can anyone either tell me appropriate settings if there are any OR tell me how to show what ports are already in use - perhaps I could open other programs then check port usage - anyway thanks for any help
My apologies if this specific question has already been answered - I try to read the whole board but it's hard to keep up.
How many GPS Application u use?
Do you use more than one GPS Application? Make sure there is only one running at a time. Remember: Most applications do not exit if close them. As far as I know if one application uses the GPS Chip of our beloved trinity any second application will wait forever...

My GPS worked fine for few weeks but it does not work any more.
Patience!!! I have had GPS fixes in 15 seconds with some ROMS. Currently it takes 15 seconds to move from "No GPS Device" to "Waiting for a Valid GPS signal". If you have this message WAIT - even for 5 minutes. IT WILL WORK.

Help, no GPS!

Having updated the ROM via HTC's website ( version 1.23.405.103 ) on my P3600 and installing Trinityhacks, I still cannot get the GPS icon to appear ( let alone the GPS itself) in the SETTINGS;SYSTEM menu, it only began to appear in the CONNECTIONS menu after i installed Trinityhacks.
I have 2 GPS programs (one of which is TOMTOM) which are installed and working perfectly, the only problem is that the GPS is not, and i can't figure out why! Please help,
Thanks
You don't need the GPS Setting CPL unless you want to change the default settings, which for most apps shouldn't be necessary.
Make sure in TomTom, you set the GPS prefs to Built-IN GPS Receiver (if you are on V6.03) or Other NMEA Receiver (NOT Other NMEA Bluetooth Receiver) if you use any earlier version.
COM port must be set to COM9 and Baud to 57600.
Once those are set, the GPS screen within TomTom should show a small revolving icon in the upper right part of the screen. Within about 30 seconds, the main screen should change from No GPS Device, to Waiting for a valid Signal. At that point you need to go outside with a clear view of the sky for a 1st fix.
If you continue to get the No GPS Device message, it suggests either the ROM didn't update properly, or there is a hardware fault.
Thank you for your help, It now all works after a hard reset, and have been playing with the GPS ever since. Great fun.
The icon is no problem and it not being there wont affect you much,
If you do want it, the easiest way to display it without modifying the resistry is to install an tweaking application like ' Trinity Hacks v2'. this is an excellant wee application that lets you easily make all kinds of settign adjustments without going into the registry.
If you do a search on the trinity forums its easy to find.
Good Luck!!
