Cant register phone (e-club) - Wing, P4350 General

Hey guys, newb here...Ive tried to register my phone bought from expansys.ca on the e-club site. it wont work though, says its not a HTC product or something along those lines.
Can anyone help?
thanks in advance,
Tom

Did you select the right product? And was your IMEI numbers correct? Sometimes it reads 17 digits when you press *#06# and the first 15digits is only your IMEI!
Still, HTC e-club has lot of bugs where it wont send activation mails to many..

I was copying the exact number beside "S/N" on the batterie.

Dial *#06# does it give the same number? STill, dont worry dude, any specific reason for HTC e-club when xda and other sites are better

No it doesnt give the same number, actually its completely different...Why would that be?

It is correct that it is a completely different number. E-club asks for your serial and the #*06* gives you the IMEI-code these are supposed to be different. S/N can only be handled by the manufactorer, IMEI is completely unique for every device.
I tried the same today, and after leaving out the character that comes after the S/N it stated that my device is branded, so not a typical HTC device. Mine is Vodafone, your's might be modified by your provider.
I have a question myself though... How can I update to WM6, since I don't have access to e-club updates, because my device is branded?

Unlock from imei unlock and flash any ROM, or you can wait until Vodafone releases an update. Btw the e-club only benefits (actually not really sure what you benefit from this site) users with P4350's branded by HTC, and regarding the posted WM6 rom on their site there are much faster mirrors posted around the web.

I guess the main question to ask is : what is your phone?
If you are trying to register a phone that isn't an actual HTC BRAND phone like a T-mobile Wing or whatever ... then it won't let you. If I try to register my TMO wing on there, it will say the same thing that it's not an HTC product.

to all XDA developers (is their a change IMEI software USB)?

to all XDA developers (is their a change IMEI software USB) if yes where can i find it & if no is it going to be developed any soon? when?
I doubt the developers will be writing software for that particular use on the xda1, if you have a serial cable it will work on the xda as long as the radio stack is the early versions, it wont work on radio stack 4.21 for instance.
so where can i get the early(<4.20) Radio version coz i wanna use the
manipulator programme with my XDA2 device ?
????????????????
Chanaging IMEI is a way to get RID of those SPIES who pry into our personal info. Violations of our right to privicy....
Emil, can you expand on that statement please, the imei is the phones identity tag, if you have a prepay sim card your identity is unknown, if you have a post pay contract sim then your details are known and your phone is trackable by the sim details regardless of the imei/phone used.
i want to reset the timer to know how much i talked ,so where can i found that radio version
As far as I know, xda manipulator is for xda1 only.
IMEI-change and call-timer reset
No software exists to change IMEI or reset timers on Himalaya/XDA-II. Also no software does it to the Wallaby/XDA over USB, and The Manipulator, the program that does it to the Wallaby via the serial port only works with certain Radio Stack versions.
We have no legal or moral problems with IMEI-changing or timer reset, but it's a lot of hard work to write something which overwrites parts of people's radio software reliably. The last thing we want is 300 people wrecking their phones and blaming us. This issue has sort of scared us away from this type of modification.
(Unlocking is different since it only reads the ROM and then uses the 'official' mechanism of AT-commands in the phone for unlocking.)
No idea whether this topic will be revisited at some point, but don't hold your breath...
I can help you to change IMEI for XDA I or XDA II

Will you tell how it all works, and maybe even create a wiki page on it? We have itsme's and W4XY's works, bu we need many more people to publish the results their trips into the phone ROM and bootloader...
Peter,
Can you tell me how to read or find my IMEI number. I have a phone that was a display model and the lable on the back was removed so I can't get it there and the system identity shows a generic IMEI number (as I've found with all the updated 2003 ones).
Thanks,
David

Try dialing *#06# on the phone. This works on all GSM phones (since it is in the GSM specification to be approved as one).
That still gives the generic IMEI number with an extra "01" at the end. It seems to be a glitch in the 2003 software because the IMEI numbers are available before you upgrade but not after. I thought I was missing something but the other units with the upgrade are giving the same generic number (350314010000009). Does anyone else come up with that IMEI #.(May be T-Mobile only!)
David
nope
I upgraded my rom lots of time and never lost my original IMEI number (which is written inside the case, under the battery)
It must be in the "T-Mobile" upgrade that changes the number in the system settings.
no solution till now????!!!!!

Anyone been able to sign up for e-Club?

Tried to use my serial to register the phone and it's saying that it's not an HTC branded phone. It's a HTC Touch (CDMA) on Bell network here in Canada. Isn't that still considered HTC branded?
Its only HTC branded if it doesn't say Bell anywhere on the phone....my guess is yours says Bell somewhere. Also, its determined by the first 3 characters of your serial number (can't remember what it has to start with, sorry).
I got mine Registered after a few tries. I don't remember how i did it though. I'll research and give some more info and post it here.
Edited: Oh...you talking about registering the Touc? , i can't either. ehehh I thought you was talking about registering for e-club. My bad

Please do because my boss has the Sprint Touch and can't sign up. I couldn't sign up for my Tilt and I couldn't for my 8525 or my 8125 either. Their rules are it has to be carrier unbranded so I assumed that we were just going to have to leave it alone.
So I guess if it's locked to a carrier at all no dice? That sucks, I don't think my carrier offers software upgrades

Where is my device from?

i have a Touch Diamond 2 but i would like to know where the handset originates from so that i can update it with the relevant ROMS etc. The ROM is 1.39.488.1 but i have no idea where it is from. Is there a website or link that allows you to identify its origin?
Thanks Guys!
I know when I contacted HTC support I had to provide my phone's serial number (available on the box the phone came in or underneath the battery) and they told me which country corresponded to that serial number in their reply. I'm sure if you just went to the support from on htc.com and asked them if they could tell you where your phone is from so you could get the relevant upgrades etc they would. It shouldn't take long for someone to reply either, they got back to me about 15 minutes after I sent my query. Hope this helps.

yes, go to htc official page and enter S.N. for rom download and they will show the appropiate rom for your country , (where the phone was sold)

My IMEI is different from what it says on the sticker

The sticker and box say one thing, but the IMEI on the handset is different.
All I have ever done to the phone was soft/hard (I forget which) SPL so that I could flash WinMo 6.5 following the instructions on the wiki, and everything has been fine since I did this back in May/June time.
Now I have decided to unlock it as I am on O2 with an iPhone, and thought I would use my HD as a backup phone, so I bought a credit on HTCCode.com after seeing several success stories, and it failed on the login with the software. No big concerns just yet, I emailed him the details to sort it, however as I was typing out the IMEI from the box, I thought to double check on the handset, and discovered they are different.
Is this something likely to have been changed by the SPL thing when I flashed it?
I assume I can get it unlocked via the IMEI which is currently on the handset, but I am concerned that this is not the correct one.
Any help?
TIA
ive seen other threads for other devices where ppl have claimed flashing hardspl has changed there imei number ..... just use the one ur fone reports and nt the one on the box .... no big deal
Yeah I realise it works and it's not a problem, but it may look a little bit dodgy if I choose to sell it.
The unlock worked fine anyway, just seems a little odd that the IMEI is so easy to change on these handsets. I thought it was supposed to be almost impossible.
Oh well.
You've probably looked at your phone's system properties to see what it says the IMEI number is. You can also dial *#06# on your phone's key pad. When the final # is entered, a 15-digit number will appear. This is a free call regardless of whether you have a SIM card installed.
As long as you're not doing anything illegal, you should be okay. Within the past couple of days, I read something about crooks changing IMEI numbers mostly with stolen phones but also to evade the law.
I registered my new Blackstone Clone with T-Mobile today on their prepaid plan. I asked them what IMEI number they showed and the operator said she not disclose the number but could confirm it if I, the phone's owner, gave it to her. When I dialed in *#06# (I was on a land line) on the Clone, she confirmed the IMEI when I gave it to her.

I don't know how the goldcard method works, but I'm pretty sure that the serial number will have to be a HTC stock serial, not a network provider's serial. Just try it and find out. It won't bite!

haha damn... Do you know which version it is though? Have to wait till I get home to download it (strict network settings here i.e. no exe files.... which is annoying considering 20mbps download!)
I have a UK o2 HD2. When i enter my serial i get "Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device." Any ideas??
HTC are a joke!
On their web site for the ROM it clearly states this update is a generic update and you will lose any network provider supplied apps etc. That statement implies it can update any HD2. Well it won't becasue HTC know full well it won't update the phone if you purchased it through one of the 3 UK networks selling it! It doesn't work on O2, T-mobile or Vodafone and the phone is not available on Orange presently and probably never will be. Vodafone are dropping it but that is another story! Thus for virtually all UK customers this update is a "white elephant". Basically you get best from HTC only if you buy the phone SIM free offline from what I can see and 90% of UK customers do not. See the quote from HTC below. A more correct statement would be this will not work on 90% of HD2's in the UK!
Warning!
* This is a generic software update. Any additional software or settings provided by your mobile operator or company will be lost. If you require this customization, please contact your supplier first before upgrading

You can use the gold card method floating around on this site to upgrade. The automatic network set-up will detect your operator and set up your setting. It wont however install any specific apps provided by your operator ( if there are any worth having).
On another note I don't quite see the point of releasing 1.48 when 1.61 is out, bizarre.

1.61 got leaked rather than released didn't it?
Valid point
However, what is the point of HTC putting out an update that for 90% of UK custoners won't work!? The gold card method does strictlly speaking invalidate the warranty.
I have just spoken wth HTC and they say my phone is Vodafone branded despite the fact it actually asks what network it should connect to on initial setup and has no Vodafone screen on boot up. Vodaone are saying they do not brand their devices. Thus depending on who you sepak to you get different answers!
What concerns me now is that as Vodafone are dropping it in the UK can we reasonably expect any ROM updates from them now and if not will HTC just leave us high and dry? Quite frankly I think HTC will quite happily leave us out in the cold! If they do it will be the last HTC device I ever use. HTC only have themselves to blame for this mess as far I am concerned.
I agree with you about the 1.61 ROM upgrade.
I will try the Gold Card method again and hopefuly I won't just get a "Not Allow" message when trying to boot off the card to update it.
Or try the European version WWE leaked earlier on this site if you have probs with UK version they are basically identical ROMS with just extra language support.
I'm personally going to try 1.61 can't be bothered waiting for HTC to release officially. Regards
I've already tried that and got nowhere. I will try one more time before just regarding HTC as a total joke!
Surely We just need the serial for the download ? not the install
I am sticking with the leaked 1.48 rom for WWE until they release or the 1.61 WWE non turkish one gets leaked too.
Not sure I want to be flashing my phone every 5 minutes and 1.48 ain't too bad so far.
Surely if you just get a serial number, so you can download your ROM, it will just generate an Invalid Vendor ID message when you try and actually apply it? Unless you use the Goldcard method of course.
That is the question, someone must know

You have to use the goldcard method to flash a different rom as the cid is different and won't work.
Thanks. That's pretty much what I thought.
