Help with PTT problem - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I have the 8525 runing the official att wm6 and this is my second phone via replacement from cingular. I can make PTT calls but i cannot receive PTT calls, they come to my phone as a voice call and it displays the caller id phone number with 33 at the end. I've spent hours and hours on the phone with cingular cust service and they keep wanting to replace my phone. has anybody had this problem? can anybody help me fix it????? it seems to be rare i can't find any info about it anywere...
P.S. I've tried swaping sim card with my wife and it worked fine in her BB pearl.

at least now you are at the correct forum!!!!
The "official" unofficial ROM upgrade might not be tailored exactly for 8525 and would explain your problem.

Rom
it's not the rom, i had the official at&t wm5 update from htc's website before i discovered this place and it didn't work then either.

Then your only alternative would be to reflash the official AT&T WM5 ROM. Then you can ask AT&T customer service for a level two tech, or perhaps higher, who will help you with your PTT problem.
But, I am surprised that you have yet to recieve a response on this forum. The folks here are up to speed on most. if not all issues.
Perhaps you should do a search of the Wiki - if not results, at least satisfactory to you, then a request to the senior gurus here for some guidance. But be warned, you will not receive assistance if you have not done your homework.

ROFL............. Customer service... tech 2 ROFL.....
Nope tech 2 can't help. they told me it's a known issue, however i can't find anything about it anywhere on the internet. I've been searching for the last 4 days and can't find one mention of anything close to what i am having trouble with. I really hope somebody here can help cuz customer service is a lost cause. trust me. did i mention this is my second phone with the same exact problem that is sooo rare nobody has ever heard of it.

Have you had AT&T disconnect you from the network and then do the reconnect. It sounds more like an issue dealing with data then with the actual PPC. Nothing indicates a phone problem.
But, your best bet might be the reflash to WM5.

reflash
Yeah i can try reflashing to the wm5 off htc's website but i had that before and it didn't work. incoming ptt has never worked right no matter what rom. but i will try it when i get home. I don't think it will make a difference tho.
ps one more thing to add is. I've swapped sim cards so i put my wifes sim card into my phone and it still doesn't received ptt calls. so it can't be my phone number. however i find it hard to beleived that it's the device. i wonder if the ptt feature is connected to my imei or my cid. but 2 phones that do the same exact thing??????? I'm sooo flustered.

If this problem occured over hard resets and with multiple ROMS, then you are looking at two possibilities:
- A provisioning issue.
- The phone hardware.
I'm assuming that AT&T has tried reprovisioning your phone several times since you are stating that you have talked to them a few times about this.
You noted that they offered to replace your device. I'm curious as to why you are not following their advice? If they say it's a known issue, and they offered to replace your device, it sounds to me like they know they can't fix it by playing around with the phone settings.
The PTT button is AT&T-specific and really they are the only ones who are going to know anything about it. I suggest you just follow their advice.

Need advice: Can't receive calls until I make one myself

Hi
I've been following this forum for a while and you guys seem pretty competent. I believe you are my best shot at fixing my rather serious problem...
I have several simcards, and two of them are showing very weird behavior in my Qtek S100. I am running the latest official ROM for my specific Danish Magician, the MA_DANG_WWE_10600_115_10500_SHIP.exe, downloaded from this site.
When using one of these bad simcards, I can't receive calls until I have made one myself. All incoming call are sent directly to voice mail. Restart the phone and I have to make a call again! Seems to me like my Magician doesn't log fully on to the cellular network?
The rest of the simcards are working fine. The big problem is that one of the card making trouble is the one I am paying $50 on each month
I was under the impression that this problem could be related to some of my simcards being 16K only, so I had one of them replaced today, but still no go. Of course I could have received yet another 'old' card, but what are the odds?
I have done a number of soft/hard resets and ROM/radio up/downgrades, but it doesn't change a thing. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Alternative line service (ALS)

Hi,
Does somebody have an idea if there is an existing patch for the telephony part of Hermes300 to support Alternative line service (ALS). This service is used by some providers to put trough two different numbers to ONE sim card. At Nokia mobilephones you can usually switch with the "#" key betweend 1st line and 2nd line. But on the Hermes I couldn't find anything like that?
I would be very gratefull for each comment on that!
Regards,
snyfer
I would really like to know about that too
Known as Line 2 on Orange UK. I'd be interested about this too...
I was told by a few HTC reps that they were aware of this issue and it should be fixed in the next ROM update. This was last year Septmember. I do not know if this has been fixed in the latest 2.0X ROM that have appeared in the last week or so. Anybody want to give it a try?... OK, I'll be first then.
Wam7 - can you tell us the HTC reps you've got this information about their awareness of this issue. - Can you give us a link to the ROM Update you were talking about?
I asked HTC support today and they told me:
"The HTC TyTN does not support Line 2, so you will be unable to make use of this function on the device."
and
"At present there are no plans to enable this in a ROM update.? This may be a future update but we cannot confirm that."
Does anybody else need this feature or does anybody have the slightest idea of how this can be implemented?
Pat
@snyfer
Sorry I did not take a name though they were definitely aware of the problem and said it was one of the two main problems they wanted fix on the phone - the other being bluetooth related. They even told me that using a 64k Sim that the phone would make calls from Line2 though in coming calls had to be on Line1. This is exactly the way it used to work in my phone.
The ROM I'm refering to is the Cingular 2.06 one, which at this moment as I type still available on via the WIKI. Have not had time to try it yet but I have my doubts it will work, but nothing beats knowing for sure.

TyTN is on but calls are not getting through

I have an HTC branded TyTN and even though the phone is on and the reception shows strong the calls are not getting through. Also when I try to make calls they are droped.
This does not happen all the time but very often. I miss about half of my calls.
Anybody has any ideas?
Need a little more info to help solve your problem.
1. Where are you located.
2. Who is your service Provider
3. Has the phone ever worked right with this provider
4, How long have you had the phone and was it new or used when you got it.
5. Does it still have the same Rom and Radio on it as when you got it.
6. What versions are those.
7. Have you tried a hard reset
Answer these for starters and let's see what we can do to help you out.
I am located in Cyprus and the service provider is cytamobile-vodafone. The phone was purchased from expansys.com.cy
It worked fine for more than a year. Although this particular problem occured very rarely during the first year.
I know of at least one more person who experienced this problem for a short period of time but it was sorted out on its own.
The only update I made to the phone was installing Windows mobile 6 from the official HTC website. The phone worked fine for a few months after the update.
No other update of any rom was made.
I tried a hard reset but it did not help.
OK, and thanks for the response. Based on what you have said, my only other suggestion would be to check your version of radio installed. If you are unfamiliar with how to do that, it appears on the screen at every reboot, or, you can go to settings, device info and it is listed there. I am unfamiliar with service Providers in Cyprus, so I would suggest doing a search of the forums to see if you can find another user with your service provider and a similar phone to see which radio works best for them. If I remember right, the WM6 update from the HTC site, does flash a new radio also, and that may be the problem. If you can't find anything, start a new thread with a title like best radio for cytamobile-vodafone in Cyprus, and hopefully you will only get relevant responses from fellow countrymen.
Does anyone else have any ideas to help this fellow XDAer out? Sorry I couldn't be more help.
thank a lot steve

HTC P3450 Network Connection Problem

I am having a problem with my HTC Touch P3450 phone for the past 2 weeks. Although the GSM signal looks good, I am not able to make/receive calls. I am on "Phone" mode (not Flight Mode or similar). Everything else (WiFi, programs etc.) works fine.
My operator is Turkcell and I live in Istanbul, Turkey. The phone was purchased from the United States.
I have done a ROM update to ROM version 1.17.707.2B WWE but the problem still exists.
Has anyone else experienced this kind of problem? I suspect that this issue has something to do with the 3G upgrading process going on in Turkey.
Can you try to use your friend's sim card and see whether it works.
Is it something like a dropped call?
I tried two different SIM cards, one with my operator and one with another operator. I am still having the same problem.
The problem is that I cannot make any calls at all, rather than dropped calls.
Also I cannot take any calls, when I call myself from another phone it goes to voice mail as if the phone is turned off.
I guess it is a hardware problem then.

bsnl sim not working
Hello there.....
I am from Bangalore,India. i was using BSNL SIM for 2years. suddenly one day the Sim was dead. i thought sim problem so replaced 2 times after that got AIRTEL Sim. now its working fine. the problem is with 2 or 3 carrier operators. STRANGE!!!!!!!!
i have this problem too nobody to help pelease
tanx
please some one help me.....
I have been investigating this issue on and off for a few months now on one of my elf’s. I originally bought this phone off eBay to test stuff, and found no signal was being received when I got it. The auction did say this so fine. Checkmend says it is not blocked in any country, and is not stolen etc. Therefore, it is definitely something on the phone opposed to networks.
The phone can pick up signal, it noes networks exists, and can identify them, however, when registered and "connected" it does not pick up messages, and when I try to make a phone call the signal completely drops.
I like others have tried many roms. I have even tried every signal radio. I have also tried 6 different working Sims across a number of operators.
Basically, I think this issue is hardware, I mean, there really isn't anything else that I can think off. I have done some reading, and I *think* it may be down to the PA chips. There are 2 off these in the phone, one for Radio signal, and the other for Bluetooth, and wifi. (I think that is it).
These are located just above the battery on the back of the circuit board from what I can see, protected by 2 parts. One removable (two top screws - also contains the speaker) and one fixed into the middle part of the body.
I've done some playing, and it seems may be easy to break, either by dropping the phone, or even possibly by something as little as keeping the phone in a pocket and sitting on it.
I am not sure where I can go from here. I may need to investigate this further, but it is looking like it is going to be a dead end, considering I am not able to BGA solder to replace it, and expect the cost in doing so outweighs buying a new phone. I'm going to look into signal amplifiers, and see if I can find one that’s not just a piece of tin foil, and actually works. It will be interesting to see if that will improve the signal far enough for the phone to be usable once again. I may even just try with some kitchen foil, or by plugging in an external aerial (which I do not have yet, and may be costly, and therefore no point). If the external aerial works, I guess the chip could only be damaged, and not able to get enough strength itself.
This is only a theory on what I think is wrong with my Phone, and may be different to what everyone else’s is. But i thought I should put it out, to see if anyone else is able to confirm/kill my idea. It is a theory after all, they are made to be proven!
If anyone else has any ideas, feel free to pitch them, I like hearing what others are thinking, and it may be possible, although I admit very unlikely, that we could find a resolution to this issue!
Stu
@ashkan62 , can you provide a detailed problem please, this may give me something more to look at that I have missed.
wow. that's really informative. I've done upgrading radio roms too and even the spl. but nothing happened. hope your investigation on this works. thanks for the info.

Omnia 7 Call Ended Error

I bought a used phone from internet website, its worked great and it was locked on T-mobile UK. I got it unlocked from fastgsm and used my tesco sim with the phone.
The phone worked great for couple of days and on the third day it worked upto 11am (that is when i made the last call on the phone) and after that i am getting 00:00 Ended every time i press call even to voice mail.
it does not call anyone no texts either and when someone calls me it says the phone is switched off.
Steps i have taken to fix the issue:
I have swapped different sim cards.
i reset my phone through settings and diagnosis code.
I have updated the firmware to the 7740
I have installed a new unbranded UK retail firmware. its still running this firmware.
I have checked if the imei is blocked or stolen or something on a few websites nothing came up.
I have searched XDA to see if someone else has this problem and there are quite a few people here with the same problem but no solution.
I need help i have no idea what to do next
everything else on the phone works great no problems wlan connection keeps it connected and all the other features are fine its just the phone calls and text msgs which i cannot send or receive.
i have tested my sim on other phone it seems to be fine.
Please help i am not sure what to do next.
thank you and regards
Call Samsung support.
I've got a very similar problem - I can access the internet with my SIM but I can't make a call or send a text.
Omnia 7 - originally on orange but unlocked.
Any help appreciated.
ok then xda cant help me with this problem lets see if samsung support can do something about it. i have called them and i am taking the phone to their service center.
wish me luck i will report back if there is any news for other people with similar problem.
I have the same problem. Ive done almost all the steps as you have. Im beginning to think that its a hardware related problem. Maybe the sim-reader.. Well, i bought another phone but I hope to fix it anyway. I'll be back to check your progress in the matter.. gl
I can also contribute that I did the unlock via fastgsm.. (without any errors) And that may be the cause. But 1 thing is different though, I could never make any calls at all. You said that u were making calls.. I had a very long email conversation with fastgsm that ended with him not responding to me at all. But that was some time ago and I deleted the emails.. Not that I think it would help. Now I use the phone as a surfing pad (wifi/data ok) its sad really... lol
That's a terrible problem, I feel for you guys.
Definitely get it contact with your provider or SAMSUNG to get a replacement.
I can't think of any settings which you could change other than the obvious ones.
