Silencing long notifications? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Im trying to set a longer tone, basically a ringtone, to play when i get a new text message
and its like a 15-second portion of a song
but it plays out the entire thing every time i get a text
whereas with like say a flip phone, as soon as you upen it, the sound stops playing
is there any way to silence this tone, so i dont have to listen to the whole 15 seconds every time i get a text message?
End button doesnt work
Dismiss doesnt work
Reading the text doesnt work
Putting the phone into standby doesnt work - and when it does, it finishes it when i turn it back on
Scroll wheel doesnt work, like when your getting a phone call
thanks in advance

no one?
is this even possible?
id have thought someone would have found a workaround for thiss by now - considering its an issue in WM5 and WM6 for me?

try taking out the battery, i guess it will stop. Another option is to slam the unit against the wall. That would definitely stop it.
anyway, why put a 15 sec sound??

hahah
sometimes i dont hear my little 2 second "Alarm3" and would like to have a long tone, that would last, depending on how quickly i read the message lol

I am glad you did not get offended by my sick sense of humor here ;-)
anyway, I have no clue how to stop that other than picking a shorter one and repeating it several times?

Well, I'm not sure if you are willing for fork out some $$ to do the job... but PhoneAlarm does a SMS repeat thing, which if any new messages aren't read, it will give you a beep (configurable) in every 1 minute (configurable). I think it cost $15 and it will cost you some space on your Today screen, depending which skin you use.

Annoying Details: Message Notification Light and SMS

First of all, great job on the special edition ROM. Maybe I don't get why we in general would all want to calculate sun positions or use some of the other zillion apps, but hey... it's still more stable and largely better working than the OEM crap.
However... the blinking message light you can set for SMS, at least for me, doesn't act happy any longer. It certainly will turn on but not off after you read a message. Anybody else have this problem? It also sucks (casually unrelated) that there is no audible repeat notification that a call or SMS was missed. My cheapo $20 Motorola has that feature working great!
Also, my GPRS connection is dead. Don't know where to go on that, it worked after I set everything after the ROM update... for about two hours. Since then, no dice. It'll probably be difficult to get T-Mobile to troubleshoot it considering that it's not really their ROM anymore...
Thanks for any insights!

Indeed, some bugs exist. I also notice that SMS notified flash light can NOT turn off after I read a message. I try a dozen of times, still can't find a solution. So I just disable that function.
Another odd problem, I set the sound for missed call. The funny thing is, the "missed call" tone immediately comes after the "ring tone" if I don't pick up the call. Sadly, the "missed call" tone doesn't repeat any more. How do I really know I got a missed call? :x
try this
http://geocities.com/myppcpe2003/index.htm
try this one: MY|PHONE|PROFILES
it resolves some problems you listed[/url]
So NOBODY cares? No audible missed call notifications...
I have all the latest and greatest, thanks to you guys, mainly XDA-Developers and Jeff!!!
Still, no audible reminders of missed calls or unchecked SMS. Despite searching around all over, can't find any software to make up for this lacking feature.
What's up? No solution? Nobody cares/doesn't mind checking their phones for missed calls and such?

Does the phone still work I mean can you place a call?
Also where are you located?
Yea the phone works fine, it's just how all these are. I've tested four of them, they ALL do it. You miss a call, get voice mail, whatever. There is no provision to get repeated audible notifications like you can on any regular cell phone.
The best you can do is have the light continue blinking at increased intervals.
I've used 3.16, 4.00.5, 4.0016, and now 4.00.11. Same thing on all of them. Radio is now 6.24, was 6.18. Was same thing.
I don't think it's a bug, but a lacking feature.
I'm in the U.S.
Why, can you turn repeating audible notifications of a missed call on?
I agree that both 6.24 and 6.18 are lame and thats why I'm using AT&T's Radio Stack version A.20.10.
Sorry never heard of a repeating audible notification for missed calls though but you might want to take a look at the below programs:

picking up the phone takes time

I have the german T-Mobile MDA-Pro with D1. (whytf can't I specifly that in my profile ?) I experience some strange thing with it. When I pick up the phone when someone calls me (by pressing the green phone button) it takes a while until the other side can hear me.
So whenever I answer a call (by pressing that green phone button) I will have to wait 5-8 seconds after the buttonpress until I say something or else the other side wont hear what I say and still thinks I havent answered the phone yet.
Yes! indead...I've got the same problem. is it a software bug?
I too have the same problem, and sometimes it hangs up the call even when I press the green button.
I've posted before and everyone has said 'Use the search'...I have and can't find anything relevent (don't think the search facility of this is very good).
Can someone PLEASE point us.
I really do miss the speed and efficiency of my XDA2s!
I have had some experience of this, it does delay mine was worse before I got rid of all th O2 tat, it is now liveable with, however it is cutting off when I press the answer button !!! OR IS IT after conducting tests using another mobile I found out that
1) the phone does not take very long before O2 divert the call to Voicemail
2) the phone starts ringing long before you know anything about it (its worse if the phone is asleep) it can be a good few seconds before it makes any indication noises
3) it carries on playing the ringtone after the call has been diverted which gives the impression that pressing the answer button is futile.
I have talked to the technical suppport of t-mobile germany and they told me they era aware of this issue and they will be releasing an update in Q12006 that will resolve this issue.

I too have this problem and for the moment while i await any future fixes from O2 or others, i am using the following short-term fix; Under phone settings I have changed the delay period before calls are forwarded to ansafone if unanswered (this works on O2 anywa). One problem with this is that callers may give up before they are diverted to ansafone if you set the delay too long
did this really resolve the issue I was talking about in my initial post ? (that when I pick up the phone by pressing the green button the caller can not hear me for the fist 10 seconds )
I have XDA Exec and kept getting confused why my GF always sounded confused and puzzled when I answered the phone, Id say "hello" and she would wait a while, then say "Hello? you there?"
I never realised it was MY phone that was cutting off my voice at the start of the call.
In regards to the delay ringing, and answering etc, I am giving all my friends instructions to bloody well keep ringing! I turn answerphone off normally as my phone is always on. If you want to speak to me, keep ringing till i answer, if I dont want to talk, ill reject the call.
Why ring twice and hang up? I could be doing anything that takes more than 2 seconds to get that damn phone out of my pocket, get it out the case, open it, see who is calling, press the button, damn, missed call.
Same problem here. I am seriously thinking about using this as just a PDA. I don't think it's practical to use a phone that only works some times. Somebody on HoFo said that the Universal isn't meant to be used as a phone, it can, but it isn't meant to be. I'm starting to agree.
I just like the idea of not having to carry around a phone AND a pda. I kind of hoped that's what the universal offers. But it kind of looks like it doesn't ...
Its a great phone when used as a hands free device, answers almost straight away, and has great volume unlike most hands free - my callers also comment that the line quality is excellent even if a few metres away from the phone.
I do always feel stupid though when using the phone as a standard phone, would feel more comfy putting a brick to my head.
I use the old phone ringer as my incomming call notifictaion and I hear my phone in plenty of time. The standard o2 incoming notification sound was useless. I don't know what T Mobile have but might be worth trying a different notification sound.
Cheers

Did anybody found a solution for this? this is very annoying.
Agreed, its just ridiculously slow - I worry whether or not I've hung up on people too, it takes a good few seconds before the line is actually dropped, let alone for the interface to update.
I've stopped using the "suspend" option and the phone seems to work like you'd expect (even on a cheap cell phone!). But the battery life is suffereing. Hopefully my new spare battery should be here soon.

You mean I should walk around with some spare batteries in my pockets.
I think my pockets are too small for so many things.
Does anybody knows if this problem is known to HTC? Is there going to be an update?
It isn't possible that a phone doesn't act like a phone in these features that are already working 100 years. I want to pick up my phone and talk immediatly
By the way how do I switch off the "suspend" mode?
What is the "suspend" mode and how do I switch it off?
Look at Settings>Systems Tab>Power>Advanced Tab
Uncheck to "Turn off device if not used.."
This will stop the "suspend" mode
eeek ! Now I know why I would need an extra battery ....

How to stop text message tone from ringing till the end?

The text message tone will keep ringing till the end.. how do i end it? In diamond, I can simply press the end button but now since the end button acts as the power button, i couldnt use the method anymore... Any idea anyone?
i have the same problem please help the ringing will drive me crazy!!!!
I also have the same problem.Any ideas for this??
Sr for my bad english.
Who said you to put a 5min mp3 as message tune or anything longer than 4 sec :S.
Go edit it first, then put it.
I am using Shine, so stop thinking that you wont know when you get a message because you'll, as i do easily. If you have plans to show your neighbors that you got a message then be my guest...

I think that counts as rude...
I believe that there are situations where by you leave your phone in the bag, or another room and won't get to hear the incoming message and it'd be nice to have the ringtone ring until you hear it.
Just that you don't want it to continue ringing when you pick it up and start reading the sms while listening to the ringtone...
Editing the ringtone to 3 to 4 seconds doesn't help... Gothik, I think u're being very narrow minded and stereotyping...
If you dont like something/doesn't please your 'mind', that doesn't mean i am being rude or whatever is that stereotyping thing.
and every sane one knows messages ring-tone should be short, not full songs.
Certainly i am no girl and have no experience with haivng a phone in the bag :S...
On other hand i tried it, works fine on my cell, so flaw in your ROM.

[Q] Custom Vibrate style registry hack? (short, long, fast etc)

Just checking to see if there is any development. There a thread asking about it once a year, with 2 or 3 people saying they'd like that too, so I thought I'd start this years.
So: Is there any kind of registry-hack that allows you to change the vibrate style, intensity, duration and so on?
What I am personally trying to achieve is this:
Instead of having the phone either Vibrate shortly and than ring without vibrating or ring while vibrating continuously at full throttle, I would like my phone to Ring while giving short vibrate bursts every 5 seconds or so. Preferably the intensity of the vibrate could be set for different loudness levels of the ringing.
But I am guessing there is still no way of influencing this, so thx for reading. See you next year ;-)
Try looking at this post.

Wow, that actually might work. I came across these codes before, but explained in much less detail and it sounded like you could only remove or add vibrate, LED flashing etc... not actually program durations and wait times.
I will give it a go. If I got all the options right, this is exactly what I needed.
Thank you very, very much!!!
PS: Damnit, now I see myself changing values, reseting, calling myself, reevaluating, changing values, reseting, calling myself etc etc all through the night lol
EDIT: Ok, falls a bit short of what I wanted to achieve, but still gives me alot more control than before. So still, huge thx.
Unfortunately there still seems no way to influence the intensity of the vibrate and unfortunately once you set the command to play the ringtone, the next command wont be executed until the ringtone finishes. So setting up soft Vibrate, start ringtone, hard vibrate every 5 seconds (as would be my prefered setting) wont work.

Nexus 6P Text Tone

Hello,
I've had my nexus 6P for a while now and have had this issue since day one but never really cared about it until recently. My issue is that every time i get a text , my phone gives me a double tone of what every i have set , i use just a simple tone since anything longer plays twice. Recently i have been in a few group texts and i have been getting so many in a row that its become bothersome, so i figured i would just mute the conversation so i can still be in it just not get a head ache. well that mutes one of the tones but not the second one so it seems i am getting a second notification from some thing other then the messenger app and for the life of me i cant figure it out. Does any one have any idea whats going on and how i can just get a single tone for a text
thanks
