Mogul users, Beware of UltimateSearch... - Mogul, XV6800 General

While this is a terrific 'loolking' plugin for your today screen it is useless on the Mogul when the Mogul unless you slide open your keyboard! Most all plugins/programs will give you the keyboard icon at the bottom of your screen when you access a program utilizing a 'text' field... UltimateSearch does not...

I emailed the company 2 days ago about this issue and they swear up and down they are working on a way to get the SIP (soft input panel) to pop. In the meantime, you can map a softkey to bring up the SIP to use with it. It seems to work fine this way, but one little catch. The SIP doesn't always close when you hit the button again. To solve, you can click where the input icon "should" be on the bottom bar and the SIP will disappear.

Designer desperately seeking developer to create TF3D RSS Reeder

As a frequent RSS user I still didn't find an RSS Reader which uses the snappy interface and touch friendly buttons of TF3D. So I created some screens hoping an enthusiastic developer feels challenged to create an ultimate RSS reader for TF3D.
Some requirements should be:
Import feeds from OPML file and/or sync with Google Reader
Update All, Update Channel or update Feed seperately (conveniant when using roaming abroad)
Auto update (every .. minutes/hours/days) and notify when new items arrive
... And more
A great wish would be to add the program in the tab structure in TouchFlo.
So the big question is: Which developer feels the urge to create this baby????
If someone feels this urge, I will make more screens, but I first want to know if there's somebody out there who wants to help me...
Hmm that's a good idea, especially love the "sync with google reader" part, browsing google reader on opera mobile is just plain madness.!
Love to see this becoming a real program! Hope someone will help you out nielsepiels!
yeah ! good idea !
Hi,

Got my vote too - I could offer my services beta testing on my AT&T Fuze - I would definitely donate for this - Heck, I'll give someone a few bucks as soon as i see a beta!
same.. i would def donate some money for this, was thinking of something like this the other night.
anythings better than RSS Hub - buggy as hell with its constant freezes
maybe this is the right place to post it.......i would love to develop such an application (and other tf3d plugins) but i didnt find any documentation on tf3d development so far......the only thread where someone asked for a documentation is only available in google-cache with no answer posted....
maybe you guys or someone who reads this thread do know where to find tf3d-dev-docs...
thx!

TF3D is developed in Lua. D-MAN666 is one of the few guys who knows how to edit TF3D and develop TF3D applications, like his calendar application.
@ Nielsepiels & Mandragore: THX!!
wow, this looks cool. would be awesome if you could code this app. and props to the thread starter, nice screens!
I think we need more threads like this. that way we get more finger friendly and nice looking apps!
Hi guys , i'm sure it's a very useful idea.
I'm thinking about coding this (i'am learning on mobile coding) , waiting for any suggestion , so let's go for making this cool stuff.
ps: sorry for my bad english ;-)
Came across this thread and thought it was worth reviving
There was a thread about this a long long time ago, but I think people just forgot about it. Its such a good idea - and yet HTC havent even mentioned any RSS enhancements for the new version of TF3D on Diamond2, etc :s. I hope someone can make this - they would definately get a donation from me for it
Upping this to see if there are any developments.
I wonder if the email tab on TF3D can be "tweaked" to receive RSS headlines instead of sending and receiving from an email account?
I'm going to try and found out how that tabs is put together it might offer some ideas.
I'd love to be able to flick through the headlines/stories from my favourite feeds like you do with text messages or even better have a "ticker" running across the screen with the latest news..... that would be cool

[dev] "fake call" freeware [coding]

Attention:
The Release is Here
I do alot of skinning but finally decided to jump in and try and actually create my own program, and i need a little help
Some of you may be familiar with trinket softwares "fake call." If not you can do a quick read up with this link.....
http://www.trinketsoftware.com/FakeCall/
I am in the middle of developing something similar but a freeware version (if you didn't know the software isn't freeware any longer) I had put a very basic but working program together in basic4ppc, i then found out i had to buy the software to compile the program. Since i already own visual studio 2008 i decided i would go ahead and try to rewrite my program in vs.
I have completed my design, but i need help with the code....
i need a help with-
"sound" - i obviously need to be able to play sound, i have looked in ms help in vs and they provide some keywords but i am getting errors when i debug.....
-how to load images from an xml file- (in need code for the call)
These will all get me rolling and allow me to release a beta......
I'm getting closer and closer
Because everyone has a different dialer or "incoming call screen," i have decided the best way to go about your fake call is to allow people to select a screen shot and a sound of their choice, creating a very customized realistic experience for every phone (as it would look just like the dialer on your phone) without having to input an obsessive amount of information. (caller name, picture, ect..)
thanks for your help in advanced
THANKS TO-
MRABIE
Attention:
The Release is Here
Wow, this is great. Ya, since fake call is no longer free this is a very amazing idea. I know a lot of people here will help you. We just have to wait. =)
Great idea, I downloaded that app a while ago when it was posted and was rather disappointed to find out it was fake freeware. A couple of suggestions, the aforementioned app would use the default ringer. The suggestion seems pretty simple from a logistics point of view but may be more difficult to program than I would imagine, when selecting a person with a ringer other than default associated use that one. Maybe have a call timer that will stay up and count until the end button is tapped. Hope this helps.
I didn't realize that the other software had gone commercial. Thanks for stepping up!!
bump............
What programming language are you using, considering Visual Studio supports several.
In vb.net your Wait method could be replaced by Sleep(milliseconds). Documentation. I am not sure, however, it this method is included in the compact framework, assuming that's the one you are using. Hope this helps somehow.
Full .Net documentation can be found here.
I am using .net but may consider rewriting again later after getting a release to rid the program of dependacy on the .net framework.
I Have updated the list, as i have gotten some stuff already figured out thanks to different people on the forums, THANK YOU
If you guys can help me out with this other stuff it would be greatly appreciated

TouchHDTweak - Any interest?

Hi, I'm a proud owner of a Sony Ericsson X1, and the developer of XperiaTweak (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=440035).
You can see the features of this application if you go to my website:
http://www.cliffords.nu
I've recieved some E-mails from people who are trying to use this application on a TouchHD, but that will currently fail (since it's developed for the X1), so I'm just wondering if there's any interest here for a special TouchHDTweak - version of my application? I don't have a TouchHD myself, but if there's enough interest I can try and develop a version for TouchHD and maybe get some help here when it comes to beta-testing it.
I think you would be a star in all our eyes for developing a version for HD. Please do go ahead. I know I will speak for all owners.
I would be very interested.
Would be very interested here too I'm sure there are a whole host of things to unlock about the HD architecture
I would love a TouchHD tweak! Right now I'd using Schap's Advanced Configuration tool 3.3 and the Diamondtweak program.
I really wish the ROM guys would get cooking too.
+1 please
HD tweak would be great!
Not to decry this generous offer from someone who has already been instrumental in what appears to be a successful porting of Panels from the Xperia, but i think before putting nelshh to a shed-load of extra work we should check to make sure the functionality he is proposing isn't already available in exisiting apps.
I haven't done anything more than a cursory assessment, but it looks like a number of the features of the Xperia Tweak are already available through existing TF3D and Diamond Configurators that mostly work fine on the HD. For example, some of what I spotted on the Xperia Tweak site is in Advanced Configurator. Other elements may not be appropriate to the HD.
So personally, i would suggest caution and that someone with a little more time than I have right now looks to compare the Xperia Tweak tool with exisiting tools.
Nelshh, do you have a complete feature list for your Tweak?
iain.fraser: you're absolutely right, There's some different apps that already does what my application is doing and more, but the idea behind my application is basically simplicity, such as a small number of the most asked for tweaks, and in addition device specific tweaks (such as the LED and Panel-tweaks for X1). And I'd be more than happy to write something for the TouchHD! If there's interest and if it finds it's own place amongst the other tools.
Really Interested too and I can help you (as soon as I've got the device) with the testing!
+1, It would be nice to have this at HD.
Tweak Away!

If in light of my earlier comments you are still up for tackling the project, put me down as a possible tester
how many +'s are we allowed to give I would give +100 if my vote counts that many times

if you can make the LEDs work like the way X1 worked, you will be my god!
Tweak! Twaek! Tweak!
Sure I would appreciate such a project!!

I have a question - request. Have it for years now....
I hate the power off button.
I want to power off the screen and use: or lock or a slide 2 unlock program.
To wake up the device i just want to touch the screen or double click or touch the home button and wake up the device but not the F**** power button. Can this be done? Please?????
I use gsen and i can poweroff the screen and etc.
I see absolutely no reason not to

Default WinMo keyboard gone on T-Mobile TouchPro2 with 6.5 download

I just installed Windows Mobile 6.5 onto my T-Mobile TouchPro2. Now, the old, default windows mobile on-screen keyboard is gone. I know I'm probably one of the last people in the world who still uses it, but I use it because it doesn't take up a lot of screen room and I use the stylus a lot anyway for a lot of my applications.
Does anyone know how to get this keyboard back? Is there a cab file somewhere of the default windows mobile 6.1 keyboard I can download? If it's not possible, does anyone know of another option for a keyboard that is meant to be used for the stylus and is relatively small?

google "tmobile touch pro 2 screen keyboard sip" search search search before u post
I did the search you suggested to dshersze --"tmobile touch pro 2 screen keyboard sip" and all that came up is this page. I can confirm that the standard windows mobile keyboard has been removed from T-Mobile's latest ROM, and I've done a good bit of searching online without finding a .CAB for that ol' standard keyboard, or a way to tweak T-Mobile's new WM 6.5 ROM to activate it. So dshersze's questions seems reasonable, and not deserving of a "search before u post" admonition. akademik_acheeba, if you know where there's a page that explains how to fix this issue, could you post a link to it?
Thanks, Alan

p.s. what ROM are you using? is it the official TMo that came out today(not the leaked) or are you using one of the xda chefs? if it is from xda then this question belongs in that ROMs thread.
I am not missing my onscreen keyboard in the 6.5 TMOUS ROM, it is there as it has always been, maybe you shoudl reflash
I can confirm that the default WM Keyboard(the one that looks like a full keyboard and is really only suitable for stylus input or for people with microscopic fingers) is absent from the new 6.5 update (both leaked and official). To check this, pull up your SIP and enter the input options menu.
Here is what I use along with my options...
Thanks for the screenshots- they show that you do not have the SIP in question either. My guess is that someone decided that it wasn't a popular input method, however, I can see where this might be a preferred keyboard for stylus intensive input or for access to keys not found in most SIPs.
The T-Mobile 6.1 *Official* ROM called this SIP "Keyboard", and on the 6.5 *Official* ROM it has been replaced by "Transcriber" which on 6.1 was found under "Other Input Methods".
I wish people wouldn't be so eager to attack a legitimate posting without a clear understanding of what is being addressed. I think that most of us make a genuine attempt at searching for answers prior to creating a thread, but it seems like there are some that are just waiting to pounce without hesitation to accuse someone of not following forum rules. Give me a break, I know that not everyone here is an adult, but attacking someone with the insinuation that they did not do a proper search seems to have become far too common and does nothing to help anyone. Why not assume that a thorough search has already been attempted and rather than providing an admonishment and a slew of links (that I doubt had anything to do with the issue at hand) provide a reasonable explanation or solution along with those links? In my opinion, this is what these forums are for: a valuable resource of information and advice.

Score one for civility. We must remember that not everyone speaks English as a first language. In addition you can't search for something if you don't know the key words to look for. Everyone describes his/her issue differently. Just look at how akademik changed the terms he suggested when he posted his links. It seems that it would have been easier and better for the forum, if someone had simply posted a link to the solution. On another note, it is a great idea to use tags when creating new threads.

I agree with Treo, points for civility. Especially because the other guy who attacked the OP didn't even post any links relevant to what the OP was looking for. All I saw in those links were Finger Keyboards, and HTC keyboards.
OP wants the default WINMO 6.0/6.1 keyboard, with the tiny keys that, while only good for use with a stylus, is excellent for odd symbols. Like | for messing with the Manilla Weather editors.
Unfortunately I don't have information for the OP, as it seems likely that as many people have not liked that keyboard, support for it is all but gone.
The new keyboard function "Swype" has a pretty good symbol list to choose from.
Here's the thread for the TP2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=597337
I guess I did have some info after all... I guess that's something.
as much as i help people on here via posts or pm's, no one knows how to use the search dropbox at the top or even google their issue to see if other wm sites have info on it. you heard about xda from tmo.com and now you come here for everyone to magically solve all your issues. all you people want is to point, click, download, install and be on your merry way...so stop being lazy, people here spend alot of time developing and perfecting things and if one lil issue goes wrong then yall complain. google what you want, and help others. as i see you guys posted here and not one of you have helped the issue but rather complained that i said search...oh well ill say it again...SEARCH
I like Swype, but anther decent SIP that I think is well worth trying is Finger Keyboard. One problem I have had is that some 3rd party SIPs will prevent my Rhodium from booting forcing hard-reset, but both Swype and Finger Keyboard work fine. One feature that I like in Finger Keyboard is the ability to assign text to a key such as an email address or password and it can switch between different languages without leaving the panel.
A way to bring back the default keyboard ...
Check this out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4843610. It requires a registry hack, but it does work.
I'm not sure why no one likes a stylus anymore, but I prefer the precision that it buys me as well as the ability to draw on the screen. The old keyboard also has a CTRL key which allows me to cut and pasted from any application (even those without a press-and-hold context menu). I don't understand the desire to emulate the iPhone with capacitive touch screens but poor precision. If I wanted an iPhone, I would have bought one.

LOL! Spot on!
This is brilliant. You don't want to know how long I've been looking for a way to get the old keyboard back! Everyone seems to want keyboards that are bigger and can be used without a stylus - but I hate having the keyboard take over more than half my screen. This is an elegant solution! Thank you for posting it!
Edit - Rats! It says it can't initialize SIP CLSIDs for stylus status. Does the TP2 not have any way of telling whether the stylus is in or not? Grrr. So close, but I guess I have to keep on searching...

Looking for small Stylus friendly Keyboard
have an HTC Touch Diamond 2 with WM6.5. Since I have it I am not happy with the big keybord. Using the stylus very often, even with the big keyboard. But this takes so much space, even on my old Touch Cruise with QVGA I have more space thanks to the small keyboard.
How and where can i get a working CAB with the small keyboard from WM6.1 ?
Think it must be that in this picture.

[Q] Polaris Office And Excel

Hey Guys, there are a few threads with Polaris but not that much information. I was hoping as more and more of you get the tablet maybe someone could answer this for me. My tablet is hopefully coming on the 12th from best buy but I wanted to find this out now if possible.
I am in sales and my order forms are in excel and all I need them to do is basically click the cell and have a 1 appear. That will order the item and this is handled on microsoft office with a macro. First question is does polaris work with macros?
Right now, I am doing this on an Ipad and its very frustrating to click the cell have the big keyboard pop up then have to type 1 and then move on to the next item, but with the keyboard taking up half the screen.
I hope this question is clear and thanks for your help...
any answer?
Hi, I'm too looking for an application that can use macro( like excel) on android
Before, I was under windows mobile and I used "spread". Does anyone know if something like that exist on android?
Thanks

Don't think macros will work
If you have the keyboard then it's easier, but I've personally found polaris version of excel really slow - tempted to try out a competitor....
