Hermes Mini USB - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Accessories

Can anyone confirm that the alignment of the mini usb on the bottom of the Kaiser is identical to the Hermes?
I see some online accessory shops are adverstising car cradles and desktop cradles from the Hermes for the Kaiser.
It'll be great if I don't have to upgrade all this fruit for once.
With regards

I'd like to have that confirmed too.. I already have a desktop cradle but I don't know if the Kaiser fits in there too... (then I can sell the hermes without the cradle)

Its the same orientation
Yup its the same orientation

Its something like that

Kaiser fits my Hermes Cradle. The mini-USB connector AND it's spacing is the same as Hermes so it fits the cradle, the back is thinner so there is not the same support as an exact fitting version but it will work until I can find a Kaiser version that charges a spare battery like this one.

Can confirm it fits the TyTN cradle - but as said before it is a little loose. I used to stab at the TyTN with a pen in its cradle just fine but need to hold the Kaiser as it rocks back a bit when you press the screen.

Right, since the back is thinner, the majority of support is comming from the USB connector. I'm being super careful with mine until a new cradle comes out, would hate to hurt that connector.

Tape or glue some folded-up paper or cardboard onto the cradle to act as a shim -- that should keep the Kaiser from rocking.

Shocking touch

I'm sitting here at work, with my exec on its mains charger. I happened to to touch the top (metal O2 Gray trim) whilst picking it up and felt a small shock???!! :?:
If I run my finger gently accross the top of the trim I can feel a small shock. When unpplugged from the mains, it doesn't happen.
I know, - don't run your finger over top you say
But all joking aside, any one else getting this??????

It's the same at my private laptop at home, but not on my laptop in the office and not on my home pc.
At my private laptop this happens with my Universal and also with my Magican.

Remember reading another thread a while back about the metal trim and charging.
I only recently noticed it - its like the device is vibrating a little as you run your fingers over it!! Just another celebrated feature of our toy!!

The Uni uses its bulk for grounding, hence the small shock. But theorically, such places as the entire top of the screen should be insulated... There probably is an insulation problem around a tiny screw or something...
There shouldn't be any hazard, though, if you're worried about that... Still... I wouldn't touch it anyway myself, lol.
Mine only does with with a cheap mains charger that I got off eBay, the standard one is fine.

Any one tryed this accessories ?

i found this site with all TyTn II accessories ?
any one tryed them B4 ?

Nice to see some accys come out, the link looks to be soliciting wholesalers, I didn't see a buy button. The battery sample video shows a battery that does not have the metal shield that the stock battery has.
The cases don't do much for me, I'm hoping that PocketSolutions creates one.
Well, the upper left USB cradle definitely has not been thought through. If you look closely you see the TyTN II slides in from the left, keeping the USB connector exposed. The cradle nevetheless has a USB cable, so I am wondering where it connects to the TyTN II

I know that Piel Frama is working on one -- I wrote them a couple weeks back asking for info. They promised to send me an e-mail when they have sample cases ready.

Good eye, that "landscape" cradle is backwards!

does this cradle exist?

I am looking for a desktop cradle that will hold the Tilt upright that charges and has 3.5mm out on it.
google and you'll find
Hi :
how about this cradle
http://www.boxwave.com/products/desktopcradle/htc-kaiser-desktop-cradle_2642.htm
2 out of 3 is good, but no dice. There is no 3.5mm out.
just buy a 3 in 1 to plug into the back of that charger and job done
Well, you could always use a standard Arkon windshield mount except mount it on your desktop. Then run the multiplug out of the bottom.
I would also think about two other options....
One, contact boxwave... they are pretty good about stuff like this...
Two, spend your money instead on a pair of Motorola S9 bluetooth headphones and listen to your Tilt via bluetooth... with the added benny of being able to answer your phone when it rings.
If you can get the site to work, Seidio online has one that I think will fit your need. Sync/charging plug and a 3.5 mm audio plug. I think it's US$29.95.

I tried the one from Seido and returned it. It is a generic base that is supposed to work for multiple phones and my Tilt did not sit in it well. The bottom left side of my phone did not touch the base when the phone was vertical in the charger so unless I put something under it to fill the gap the phone would Tilt to the left probably bending the USB connection.
That's good to know, I was contemplating one. I think now I will take my 3-in-one USB connector and some modeling compound and create my own.
Fund with arts and crafts. I'll let you know how it goes.
I am using the same 3 in 1 like this one >>>http://www.boxwave.com/products/desktopcradle/htc-kaiser-desktop-cradle_2642.htm
I found it on ebay with a battery for less $$ about 6 months ago.
I saw that too, the difficulty I run into is that I use a form fitting case with a belt clip stud on the back. That means that all of the "device only" cradles, like what was in the prior message, won't work. I was thinking about the Seidio because it allowed for a skin case. Now that I hear it isnt very useful, I must consider other alternatives. Has anyone had success with the Seidio cradle?
Like I mentioned, my other alternative is to make my own by form fitting some sort of modeling compound around my Kaiser with case, then embedding the 3-in-1 cable in the compound at the right angle to fit the connector, then forming it to the correct angle. Sounds like a weekend project, now I just need to find the right material to do so. Hmmmmm.

Adapting a Brodit Holder

Hi,
I just got a used Kaiser off ebay. It arrived today. It is a replacement for my Hermes.
My Kaiser came with a brodit passive car mount. It seems to hold the kaiser loosely and allows it to move back and forth a little - i can't see the product code as its attached to a brodit articulated arm thingy. My Hermes is a perfect fit in this holder.
I have a brodit active mount for my Hermes that the hermes fits perfectly but the kaiser also fits into it with exactly the same amount of play as in the kaiser holder that it came with. I have read other threads on here with people saying that the kaiser brodit mount leaves an amount of space behind the unit. Do i have two hermes mounts or are the units brodit sell exactly the same? My only issue with using the active mount for the kaiser is htat the plug does not line up correctly.
i was thinking about getting a Kaiser active mount but am now thinking i may as well adapt the hermes one i have instead of shelling out for the proper Kaiser one if it is going to be exactly the same holder.
anyone done this?
i simply want to re-align the miniUSB (which looks glued on) so that it lines up with the socket on the Kaiser. i was wondering if i can remove it without breaking it and what type of glue ot use to stick it back on?
i was also going to stick some felt or other soft material to the back of the holder to help steady the unit and take pressure of the plug/socket.
i hope i have explained all this clearly enough... seems to be an awful lot of "kaiser one", "hermes one".... let me know if i need to clarify anything.
any help appreciated.
i prised off the usb connector by using a pairing knife. apply enough pressure and rock the blade until the blade is around 1/3 of an inch in and then twist the blade to 'pop' the usb connector off.
I then seated the kaiser in the holder, inserted the usb connector, checked over th fit and then seperated it all again.
Leaving the PDA in the holder i applied superglue to both the usb connector and the area of the holder onto which the connect would sit.
Then inserting the connector into the PDA in-situ, applied pressure to the connector until the glue cured.
Hey presto.... £40 saved!
it can be a bit fiddly to get the Kaiser seated properly in the modified Hermes holder but i heard the official Kaiser one was no different!.
Hope this is a help to someone.

What are the 3 Pins at the back used for?

Hi,
I would love to make a photo, but just have the HD2 here as camera and cannot take a shot of its own back
Anyone has an idea what can be connected to the 3pin hole in the back? If you open the back cover you see this between the microsd card slot and the sim slot, a little bit left unter the battery.
Thanx!
Those contacts fit the HTC car kit.
Ah the expensive thingy - thanks for clearifying
A pinout would be interesting. Stripped down mini usb, 1-wire with +-3VDC supply?
I am interrested in too.
even more interesting is htc have abandoned their interesting car kit design for a boring standard one that just plugs in the usb. saw it on wmpoweruser. still however has a high price tag!!
Tath s why I need the pinout, I aim to make my own with modifying a back cover.
