nothing extremely important mainly ringtone files / themes etc.
by default i try and install all extra programs to my storage card...
EDIT: i did find out that if you didnt install the files that came with the touch... there is one file ... to do with the bioscreen driver software... allows the bioscreen to work properly..

couple of questions...
1) if i delete the files in ext2_rom, and hard reset in the future, will I need the files to restore my device?
2) what is the "bioscreen" driver?

yes you will...
and the bioscreen driver is for the touch functinoality to work properly
what i noticed when i didnt install those files is that
when i pressed with my finger i had to be precise... i couldnt just guesstimate the area of touch and work successfully
for example the scrolling ... i couldnt scroll properly unless i just touched the scroll bar...
hence the bioscreen driver

thank you.

no it just stops the "modification process"
that you see when you first boot up your device

by 'modification process' do you mean the process that makes it a 'touch' rather than just a wm6 device?

boinger...i can only see 5 files in the ext rom, occupying ONLY 197K wth 9.74mb free...so my question is:
1. seeing that the small space those 5 files are using, is it necessary to delete them ?
2. where are the ringtones you mentioned ?
3. by "increasing the page pool", do you mean i can move the page pool to ext rom ? and how do i go about doing that ?
4. i think you`re brillant

boinger....and i don`t have dopodppc-athena.cab that you said you noticed in ext rom in an earlier post....
also....haven`t tried this yet..but...if i were to install programs to ext rom....would that be alright?.....and..one last question...why so much free space in ext rom...is it intentional ? surely there must be a reason...thank you

hmm in my ext_rom i have about 1 meg worth of files...
if your ext rom is occupying only 197k than i suggest leaving it
increasing or decreasing pagepool can effectively allow you to have more or less storage... there is a guide in the elf upgrading forums.. the general consensus so far is the htc touch functions best with a 4mb page pool
the ringtones i believe can be found in the ringtone.cab...
and thank you
and in response to pentagons post
it does have some other letters in front that is the end name... if you dont have it it must not be that important... i see the cabs are varying from unit to unit which is a bit odd... it could be possible that the network providers have changed the ext rom which is normal...
teh ext rom is used for storage... you dont install directly to the ext rom... but when you click device it is in essence going to the rom...
and yes the modifcation process is what makes it a touch device instead of a regular wm6

boinger,
I've successfully been able to view the ext_rom on the HTC Touch and could probably delete the cab files from there because they're showing as not in ROM but they're only taking up about 200K in space so I'm going to leave them.
I can't however, write anything to the ext_rom area because it keeps saying it's write protected. I've followed all the items in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=297085 for being able to write to ext_rom but nothing seems to work. Installing to "Device" still installs to internal memory and any attempt to write to ext_rom (via copying or installing) still results in the write protected error.
Any ideas on how to set the ext_rom so it can be written to?
Thx,
ppc4

thats for a different pda... so i wouldnt use those files unless you KNOW they would work... and i dont know if those will work...
now i dont know if its a good idea to write to extended rom because of hard resets ... in terms of installing programs there... iw ouldnt do it

Guy,
I'm able to unhide the ext rom but I am unable to write to it.
Anyone having this same problem?

yes this allows you to view your extended rom... not write to it
and on mine iwas able to successfully delet files

I cant find my "Running Programs"

I just hard reset my magician. Since i'm using big storage (my friend did it), only some of the cab files from extended_rom are installed. Now i just found out that my smart dialing, MMS, O2 plus are not included. It was easy to recover those programs since i know the cab files.
However, i cant find the right cab for "Running Programs". Does anyone know which one? Thx.
Sorry for the bad language
Running programs - do you mean in Settings > system > memory > running programs?
If you need a task killer I can send you one or there's many around.
V
That's the one. Thx . So actually it's not a stand-alone program. Yes i found the running programs.
So, the question is changed now. I need the shortcut to that program. Usually magician has the blue box icon with a picture of someone running. Do you know the shortcut?
Thx.
Just tried to restore that icon from my old backup before it crashed. I thought it was just only a link to some program. But it is not! It is an exe file and after i restored it, click the Running Programs, it says "Error opening the shortcut or locating the target filename".
Any clues?
My Running Programs app is in the "default_103133" CAB file from my Mini. I run this file after hard reset.
What does that file do? Just open up the running programs control panel?
If you need it back, just type the following into a text file on your PPC
Code:
22#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,4,2
and save it as Memory.lnk
Then double click on that file.
Tell me if it works ok.
V
@vijay
i just wanna return my magician to the default system . that's why i'm so curious to get back that program.
@ampda
i'll try that file. thx for the info.
I can post my CAB file but it will also add the O2 xda defaults that can with the Aussie unit

Thats right....just install that cab file "default_103133.cab" and you will have your Running Programs app back....that is, if you saved your Ext ROM files before doing the Big Storage patch, or someone can attach that cab file here.
Now my problem is (sorry this might be Off-topic) , how can I have back the AUTOCONFIG for different Telcos, (especially Asian) ? Its also gone after the Big Storage patch. I dont know which of the cab files I need to have it back
anyone have idea or is there a forum for this in Magician?
thanks...
THANK YOU!!! finally i can access my running programs.
anyway, ive another question . let's say i want that program to be installed automatically after I hard reset. how can you do that? so i do not have to restore them manually from my sd card. thx.

To get the menu and icon run O2Auto.sa.CAB, then install the telco(s) you want to be in the autoconfiq menu.
@nsriza, thanks!!! As simple as this, and I can have my Autoconfig back already?
I thought I need to manually edit the autoconfig.txt to change the paths of the cab files?
Btw, I have already installed the cab files for all the Telcos that I need....but not the O2Auto.sa.CAB yet. Is it okay if I install that O2Auto then install again the Telco cabs?
Thanks...
So has anyone knew how to setup auto installation for cab files (eg. MMS, SmartDialing etc) after hard reset? thx
another OOT question...what does autoconfig.txt and config.txt do? and how to use it?
thx
Im assuming your asking for auto installation for after a hard reset using big storage. if you search for "AutoRUn" on this forum you should find a link on how to create an autorun folder on your storage card. you need the autorun.exe (Found in the search for the link) and a folder called 2577 created in the root directory of your storage card. then all you need to do is add all the CABs that you want to auto install after a HR to a ZIP (not Rar) archive and call that archive extROM.zip. then put that in your 2577 directory and hardreset and it will install all the files in the zip. if you havent already installed the cabs you put in the zip it will actually start installing them as soon as you insert the SD card. have a search around you will find lots of info about this subject.

@Speedn
thx for the suggestion. it's very helpful.

hi i used big storage to convert my german rom (o2 xda mini) to wwe 1.12. now i lost some features like MMS,Smart dialling, Home zone control, O2plus. (as it was the case with you). It would be great if you could share here how did you get them back to work? i mean, i want the procedure to do so. i have a backup of my german rom.
one more question. i dont see the Phone pad option in my text input list after the bigstorage patch. how can i get it back. any suggestions would be so great..
thanx in advance

@visvaram
if you backup ur extended_ROM, u should able to find related cab files, such as MMS**.cab, SMARTDIALING**.cab. Just tap those files and it will be installed automatically. FYI, backup ur cab files first b4 installing.
Im not sure about O2plus and zone files. Anyone care to help?

Hi...
In the Magician, extended ROM customization is not as easy as other devices.
For himalaya devices,u can use ER2003edit to open ms_.nbf files, edit them by replacing the cabs,or u can unlock and unhide ur extended ROM using extrom unlocker, then u wille able to see extended ROM as a removable drive, and u can edit cabs within...(note that cabs are *.cab files,or cabinet files, those files are executable on ur PPC,almost every program or software is a cab file, even if it doesn't look like, cab file must be contained in,exept executable applications on PPC like .exe that runs directly by clicking on)
In BlueAngel,ER2003edit don't open it's ms_.nbf,but still u have an extrom unlocker for BAs....so u can also edit ext ROMs...
Now in Magician, and due to the difference in hardware architecture(Magician have one rom slot of 64mb),this device don't have (yet) an ext ROM unlocker, and ER2003edit do not open it's ms_.nbf files....(and the member (Anansky) who did the big storage and we all believe he can make or help in making extrom unlocker, seem to have vanished... :? ...)still,there's advanced methods to customize ur ext ROM,but take into consideration that they r not easy....
1-by dumping the ROM to storage card, then using ntrw and a hex editor to cut a partition of the decoded ROM(the ext ROM),mounting it as virtual drive using total commader plugin, editing it,and reflashing using SD method....ouff...read more about this method from here...
2-by freeing ur ext ROM memory using big storage, then making a folder called 2577 on ur storage card, put in autorun.exe and a .zip file containing ur cabs,so,once u do a hard reset, the cabs will be installed automatically from ur SD card....read about big storage from here and here...learn about 2577 folder from buzz's site... http://www.buzzdev.net/
note that this method does not make u an extended ROM like ms_.nbf,but will do the job as it will install ur favorite cabs directly after hard reset....
Good luck...

Just to share with everyone after few days trying, I have succesfully upgrade my dopod 828, the main problem is facing the Error 150, the Upgrade utility is not designed for this device
The procedure is more or less the same as pervious post in this forum, but just little bit different
1. Right click on the EXE-file and extract to a named folder (using Winzip or something similiar)
2. You should end up with about 6 - 8 individual files; ms.nb1, radio.nb1, nk.nb1 ruu.conf, ruu.dll, enterbl, getdevicedata and maupgradeut, the maupgradeut is the file that runs the upgrade
3. Download the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe
4. Once you have this file you will need to add this to the folder created above as this is the file needed to initiate the upgrade.
----- until step is exactly the same
Skip this step-> In ActiveSync, click on file and connection settings and untick the USB connection.
5. In ActiveSync, go to option -> Schedule, Set it to Manual, this is to make the PPC USB connection to ActiveSync active but don't do any Sync with your PC and PPC during the upgrade process.
6. Connect the phone to the USB, manually sync once. From now onwards, the step is the same.
-----
7. Now run the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe
8. The upgrade Wizard will start, go through a few checks then eventually come up with the country Id error.
9. Run the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe file again and this time it should allow you to run the Wizard.
10. The process should then go through 3 stages which should last about 10 - 15 minutes.
11. When finished you should get the upgrade successful notification and a prompt to reset the device
12. In ActiveSync, click on file and connection settings and tick the USB connection.
13. Enjoy your new ROM
I am trying to upgrade my Dopod 828, and I get a error no. 150 said the ROM is not designed for this device... oh.....

Guide to Cooking Universal Extended Rom with FILES

Hello,
I have read that some people have been having a bit of trouble with customising their extended rom on the Universal. So here is my attempt at creating a guide, as a way of saying THANKS to all who helped me in these forums to create my own customised ROM's on the blue angel and my current EXEC.
First thanks mainly to Buzz for the Ext Rom Unlocker and also to BeyondTheTech for the Disable Security Cab.
Also thanks to all other members who contributed their trials and files in the thread.
IMPORTANT - DO A BACKUP BEFORE DOING THIS AS A HARD RESET IS REQUIRED!!!!
Here Goes:
This is how i did it:
1. I created a folder on the desktop called Exec, and inside i created 2 folders called Orig Rom and Cooked Rom
2. I then downloaded the following 3 files and placed them into the Exec folder.
3. i copied the unlock policies and the ext rom unlocker onto sd card and copied them to the phone.
4. i ran the unlock policies cab first then the ext rom unlocker cab
5. under programs i clicked on ext rom unlocker to execute the file
6. it then said succesful and reboot to finsh
7. once rebooted install total commander from below.
8. i then ran total commander and typed in /extended_rom (note underscore) and it displayed the contents of the exteneded rom that originally came with the phone.
9. selected it all and copied the contents to SD card.
10. if you connect your phone directly to pc then you can copy the contents directly to the 'orig rom' folder you created earlier, or use card reader to do same.
11. either way you have the contents of the ext rom on the pc. i then deleted the contents of the Extended_Rom on the phone.
12. the next steps are done on the pc.
13. copy the autorun.exe and the config.txt file from the 'orig rom' folder to the 'cooked rom' folder.
14. copy all the CAB files that you want to be installed upon hard reset into the cooked rom folder aswell.
15. copy the disable security.cab file into the 'cooked rom' folder aswell
16. you will need to rename the cab files that you want installing in the following format:
Default_Unsigned_xxxxxx.cab where xxxxxx is the name of the file
17. if the cab files have long names then just rename them!
18. if you wanted to keep some of the original cabs from your extended rom then copy these into the 'cooked' folder aswell but leave their naming system alone ie:
Signed_UNI_Remove_BatteryIcon.sa.CAB
19. once these have been named as above open the config.txt file
20. it needs to be prepared into the following format :
LOCK:Enabled
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Default_Signed_DisableSecurity.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Default_Unsigned_tcpmp.arm_ce3.cab
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Signed_SSD_BTUR_Patch_For_BT_Cannot_Initial.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Default_Unsigned_Porta-Pinball.CAB
RST: RESET
this is an extract from my config.txt file
21. i used the existing file and amended the entries, add/deleted some of the entries.
22. note the space between Cab: \ this is important.
23. also note that the first file that i wanted to install was the disablesecurity.cab file, without this the other 'personal' cabs will not install.
24. so once you have edited and saved your config.txt files making sure all spelling is correct (also an important thing otherwise the files dont install) and no warnings are issued either! you will have in your 'cooked rom' folder:
autorun.exe
config.txt
and several cab files
25. select all the files and then 'right click' on properties.
26. select the 'read-only' option and ok
27. i found that after the first install some of the cab files delete themselves! this prevents that from happening.
28. connect your phone to the pc
29. using active-sync Explore device and navigate to the Extended_Rom folder
30. copy all the contents of your 'cooked rom' folder into the Extended_Rom folder
31. once completed, disconnect the phone and perform a hard reset.
32. after you have aligned screen and done the start-up routine it will start installing your personallised cab files.!!
33. You should now have an Exec, customised with your own extended rom and as a bonus a complete back-up on your pc.
34. if ever you upgrade the phone rom/radio etc, all the software you need and the perosnlaised rom is ready to go.
if i have missed a step plz post back and i will edit my posts and put in there.
I cannot stress how important it is that you make a backup first before doing this as you will lose everything on the phone.
Bye for now!!!

hi there this is a perfect guide well done m8
only one question as i have the jasjar and i-mate rom on it
i do not have the config.txt file
how do i tell the device to install my personal/third party cab files
thanx in advance
mail attachments
Thanks for the guide, however when i use total commander, extended rom is shown with the same symbol as storage card and I cannot get the mail programme to save attachments to the real storage card as the universal thinks the extended rom is the storage card.
How can the properties of the extended rom be changed so it does not appear to be a storage card ?
Thanks
Steve

I just renamed the required cab file by adding "Default_" to it. That did it.
Thanks
But I have been through the thread numerous time.
The mail programme thinks the extended rom is the storage card.
The thread has a fix to hide the extended rom so the mail programme now saves attachements onto the real storage card.
It just seems a shame to have gone to all the trouble to unlock and make visisble the extended rom, just to hide it again so the mail programme can save onto the real storage card.
Am I missing something. Simple guidance PLEASE.

When the hard reset is done the whole point is for the Extended Rom to be hidden again. This ensures that at any point in the future if a hard-reset is required then the phone is setup agian as you want it.
At the moment the Extended_rom partitrion cannot be used as a storage space , and i believe Buzz is working on that.
So my guide illustrates deleting existing rom, and replacing with personalised rom and then hiding it agian.
Above this thread is a link to Buzz's small tutorial to alllow attachemnts to be saved back to storage card instead of the Extended Rom for those who want to leave it Un-Hid.
Regarding those without a config.txt file then renaming everything to Default_xxxxx.cab does the trick.
thanks
This is a GREAT thread. Hats off to you.
Personally, I think I'm going to add the T-Mobile USA Internet Settings cab to "cooked" stuff (I'm in the US).
Does anyone have a cab that will set up the gmail pop settings (w/ generic un/pass of course)? Lazy, yes, but I'm just trying to make any refresh that I would ever need to do that much simpler
i have another question as we have a lot of good registry tweaks....
is it really that hard to create cab files for those registry settings and just throw those in the extRom
regards
krassen

my problem is that in wm5.0 there is no config.txt file to tell the os what to install from the ext rom, i unlocked the ext rom and moved all contents to pc, i also deleted all the existing files from it, and i have all my cabs ready, but the problem is how to tell the installer to take these cabs instead of the origionals?
does it take it automatically, or should i do something to make it install my personalised ext rom?

If you dont have a config.txt file then you need to rename your cab files in the following format:
Default_xxxxxx.cab where xxxxx is the name of your file. this has been found to work in your phone.
thanks
many thanx to u.
this worked just fine.
cheers
disable security cab
Does anyone know where I can download the DisableSecurity.CAB as the links no longer work.
Thanks
Steve

CABS dissapear from my minisd why?

Hello everybody.
Whenever I install a .cab from my miniSD card it dissapears from the miniSD card. Why is this? Is there any solution?
Thanks in advance.
Thats what WM does. It will remove the original CAB files once you have installed it. To solve this, copy a backup of the CAB file before installing.
Ot make a CAB not delete after running it. copy the file to your SD via your PC and then right click on the file and make it Read only.
Once read only the file will not be delete after being run.

Or just set the file properties to read only using TotalCommander /GSFinder etc. That way you can keep them all on your SD card in case you need to reinstall away from your PC.
bryanz, click on cabinstl.exe. check the option <Do not delete cab file>. The default is unchecked (blank). This solves ur problem
Hi blogg buster, in what folder is that file?
Thanks for all your replies.

cabinstl is a freeware program for WM2003 which lets you to choose whether to install the application to main memory or SD card, (which WM5/AS4 now does itself), and the option to keep the cab, which you can do anyway by setting the RO attribute. So IMHO it's not really needed on the Wizard.
OK, thanks a lot Ineedtoys
Ineedtoys, I think bryanz may be right but from what I gather u are running smthing which looks like cabinstaller. Check from Start>program to see whether u have cab installer. if not, then discard my suggestion. Another way is to use the FIND option from ur file explorer to find "cabinstl.exe" .
Good luck
This little cab will stop all cabs installed after it from being deleted, although it will delete after you use it. It probably is the same as putting a check mark in the cabinstl.exe program.

The only file I can find on my WM5 and 2003SE machines is a cabinstl.dll in ROM, which cannot be run directly. So if you have a "cabinstl.exe", you must have installed the freeware add-on?
Which is largely redundant in WM5 anyway, apart from letting you see or extract the contents of the cab prior to installation.

I have posted on other forums the reverse issue for some people with other WM5 devices.
Kevin Tofel and James Kendrick of MobileTechRoundup have mentioned that on their WM5 phones - Verizon 6700 and Treo 700w, that any installation .cab files that they install are not deleted after the app is installed. I wonder if the above little cab (or something like it) has been installed on some OEM devices.
Any ideas how to reverse this and have the cab deleted for those that don't have the functionality.
There's actually a registry setting that controls this. Here's a quote from a registry tweak thread on Treo Central exlaining how:
Make WM5 keep CAB files around after installing (1)
If you wish to keep the original .CAB file around after installing the application, set:
HKLM\Software\apps\Microsoft Application Installer\nDynamicDelete = 0 (DWORD decimal)
Or to restore to the default:
HKLM\Software\apps\Microsoft Application Installer\nDynamicDelete = 2 (DWORD decimal)
Make WM5 keep CAB files around after installing (2)
An alternative method of making WM5 keep the original .CAB file around after installing the application is by adding the "/nodelete" option to the Windows CE loader:
HKCR\cabfile\Shell\open\command = 'wceload.exe "%1" /nodelete' (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
I trialed a 700w for a while and noticed that it would delete cabs installed from main memory but not from SD. I'm wondering if nDynamicDelete = 1 sets this behavior.

ROM Chefs: SDAutoRun gives customziation to everybody!

User Customization is a config.txt file that's located on an SD card which can install cab & xml files located there too! Think about it: this gives anyone who loads your rom the ability to automatically install their preferred apps/settings as part of customization. Here's how to make your next ROM UC capable:
Cook the attached SDAutoRun.exe into \windows
if AutoRun.exe isn't already in \windows then place a copy there too. Note: some devices don't have a compatible AutoRun.exe. If you have issues, try the attached version.
Replace the "RST: Reset" line in config.txt with "EXEC:\windows\SDAutoRun.exe"
That's it! SDAutoRun will do the final reset unless it encounters a file called SDConfig.txt in the root directory of the storage card. If it sees this file, it will restart autorun and install cabs/configure settings from SDConfig.txt which can point to files that are also located on the SD card.
What's important is this: If every chef uses this system then ROM junkies will be able to freely move between ROMs. If you decide to include this in your next cooked ROM, then make sure you indicate that it's UC capable. I'd really like to make this a standard because it will greatly ease the time consuming task of re-installing apps/settings.
UC v2.0 is now Live!
Changelog
Works with non-WWE ROMs & Internal Storage Roms. SDAutoRun uses the registry to determine the default name for the Storage Card now. For newer devices, this key might be missing altogether so just cook it in. The "Folder" value points to the actual location that contains sdconfig.txt. Here's the key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\SDMemory]
"Folder"="Storage Card"
Automatically corrects SDConfig.txt formatting errors. Extra/missing tabs, spaces, newline characters etc are corrected before passing to autorun.exe.
New string value "SDAutoRunVersion" created in HKLM\comm contains "2.0". This will help debug SDConfig.txt file issues in the user thread.
SDAutorun v2.0 is fully compatible with all SDConfig.txt files created to date. Additionally, there now shouldn't be a config file users can throw at it that it won't re-format to the following template:
Commands will be left justified into the first 5 characters and space filled
Parameters will be left justified to the 6th character and trailing whitespace will be removed
Lines that don't contain a command will not be passed to autorun. Note: To determine validity, I only check for a ":" in postion 4 or 5 here to allow for future command expansion.
if no valid commands are encountered, then a file containing only "RST: Reset" will be created
Assumptions
SDAutoRun is not signed so security must be relaxed in HKLM\Security\Policies\Polices by setting the value 0000101a to a 1.
SDConfig.txt cannot be Unicode.
Here's a link to the User's side of ROM customization:
ROM Flashing Junkies: User Customization is here!
If you build a UC capable ROM, be sure to link to the above thread. Also shoot me a PM and I'll add your ROM to the UC capable list.
The key here is that UC is an automated, unattended configuration. Setting it up is done out of the Hard Reset window and once its on your SD card, it works any time you hard reset. Automated is good because it allows mass customization from a business standpoint too. Any business using a UC capable ROM can set up a single "ROM customization" SD card then give it to their IT staff for the daily provisioning of company software/branding on new devices. Your UC capable ROMs have business appeal now!
We are also working on tools that will simplify the XML/SDConfig.txt file creation process. Several good ones have already surfaced in the Users thread.
Useful Stuff
OEM Package for Kaiser
I think this is/will be a great standard! Well done Sleuth for initiating this.
Genius idea.
Good news: doedoe is looking at building a provisioning tool! Now we have two developers working on this. We can sure use more help though. See the user thread for more info!
Good But What S About Cab Wich Prompt For Choosing Languages Or Some Parameters To Be Installed ?
UC
Very nice.
For flashing junkies it's necassary yes, after each flash all your favorit apps auto installed is awsom, nice one Sleuth
a request
can someone make it for all devices/ for example wizard? that will be awesome
Hehe many many thanks.
I tried to get this working with the standard AutoRun from SD but i couln't get it working.
Screw Extended Rom completly.
Great Work.

ROM chefs should be able to use UC on any ROM. Post a link on your favorite ROM Chef's thread if you want to see UC.

Those will need to be researched by the community. Post findings in the user thread (see page 1 for the link)
Awesome application.. so simple I'm amazed it took this long for someone to think of it!
I've cooked it into my ROM.. but I haven't released it so it cant really count as a UC compliant ROM..
It's definitely useful though and I'd love to see others using it. Thanks Sleuth
Already Found in Kin0kin ROMS
Great idea; however Kin0kin released a couple of roms some time ago that do this plus his final WM6 rom is also capable of auto install of applications off a storage card in this way.
WB
And why not change the reg
HKLM\Comm
\Extended_ROM\autorun.exe
and
\Extended_ROM\config.txt
into
\Storage Card\autorun.exe
and
\Storage Card\config.txt
Most ELF roms don't use Ext rom Auto installs any ways.
I still think this is a good cause because he's trying to get more people into doing this.
Instead of one or a few cooks integrating this.

Well it shouldn't be hard to patch cab files hardcoded to a path on SD Card. (once i have found all my software back) But not something for a regular user nope.
Sorry to hear that Limitation still exists, seeing your actually using the Original Autorun.
I was allready removing this from my Roms.

that's pretty much what SDAutoRun does. It reconfigures the reg settings as you indicate and re-runs autorun. First however, it changes SDconfig.txt referenced cabs to RO since on a kaiser at least, the reg settings to prevent post installation CAB removal are ignored by AutoRun. Also, if no SDConfig.txt exists or there is no SD card installed, then it generates a quick one line config.txt containg the RST: command then re-runs autorun. On a Kaiser at least, the RST: command also re-activates the radio first. Without it, the device comes up with the radio disabled. I figured this scheme would maintain compatibility across all devices.
The standard is the important thing though as you indicate. You don't need to incorporate SDAutoRun in the manner I suggest. Whatever scheme works best for you is fine as long as it meets the following specifications:
user config occurs after all other autorun config
if SDConfig.txt is found on the storage card, set up the registry and re-run autorun
if SDConfig.txt is missing or there is no storage card installed then perform the final RST:
don't remove CABS from the storage card after installation.
I just thought my little 31K pgm was the easiset way to accomplish this. On deck is a way to do this even if the user renames the storage card...
Well looks like you can ad me to the list after monday.
I'm going to strip The new 6. rom to the bone and make some custom cabs hardcoded to SD card installation for the stripped Apps that can work from SD.
Cool... shoot me the link to your support thread when you do & I'll put it up on pg 1 of the UC user thread.

Strange that it's contain hardcoded paths ...! The name of my Storage card is Speicherkarte and so it's useless for me!
Probably a dumb question but where would I put this file in the base kit I have. I have a base kit for wm6.1 on titan. Ide love to cook up a rom but I dont know where this file goes.
