WM6 image - Sable

Where to get a WM6 CEOS.nbf file ?
since the Updater has 4.nbf files :
CEBL.nbf
CEOS.nbf
RadioFS.nbf
RadioOS.nbf
i guess the CEOS.nbf is the OS, if replacing it with WM6 nbf and trying if it works would harm the pda ?

which flash utility will you be using. If the rom is for the ipaq 6900 and formatted properly then it will not harm the pda. (but this rom does not exist) at lease we dont have it. So if you do this you can damage your pda. Which rom and utility are you planning on using?

*should* be doable
unless you replace nbf BL file (for bootloader) you should
always be able to enter BL mode even after catastrophic
flash failure. NOTE THOUGH: This is just pure speculation.

Yea but if i change the CEOS file with a standard, not modified for any phone WM6 image, should this work ??
afbcamaro : have a friend at HP who can make me and update with any CEOS file...
P

If you replace any stock WM6 ROM file with the hp one, you should theoretically not harm the pda as long as the BL.nbf and radio nbf files are not used. but when using another rom and you find out it fails it wont do any good that the device is not harmed since it cant be brought back to stock because we have no stock rom CEOS.nbf and EXTRom.NBFs...... So until we have the stock firmware then yes it will make your device useless, but if we did; no it should not hurt it....

The Begining! The search for a real sable flash utility.

We have heard that there might be such a thing as a sable_ruu.exe flash utility for the sable if anybody finds any such utility for the 69XX phones. Please inform or post such a beast. (This is unconfirmed until utility is found and tested as well as any accompanying rom that will flash with it)
see : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=313403&page=3
Jussi77 has uploaded the utility
Just for reference here is the link to this update utility. I will see what can be done by looking at the known 65XX utility. This seems what hp would use themselves for flashing without the guider file from the 65XX. Then it would just be a matter of trapping some code to remove device authentication and we have ourselves a utility. (I havent done this in a long time)
Here it is for your studying purposes!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=43063&d=1183675670
And thank you Jussi77
Does anybody know first hand the real differences of the 65XX and 69XX... I mean detailed hardware differences. I wish to see how compatible a possible rom might be from each other. (just os)
Where could I find original English ROM in the .nbf format for hw6915?
Ive checked it and it is the full fledge flash utility for the HTC Sable. Funny I'm trying to look at this and don't even have a 69XX device yet!! Should be in the mail LOL
On the other hand if somebody has a stock NBF OS and EXTROM NBF that is known working with the 69XX, factory English is fine; then please inform us of this. (This can expedite work incredibly.) Or if not and you do know how to DUMP your rom please inform us as well.
IF SOMEBODY ALREADY HAS THESE (STOCK OS,EXT ROM NBFS) PLEASE INFORM US OF THIS
process
i could be like this
1) dump the current rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-306293.html
2) process dump.bin to nbf files
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-306293.html
3) verify the flasher by flashing above mentioned files back to hw69xx
4) if that worked ok, i would try to modify/replace nbf files with "some other" files , patch the flasher (checksum checking) and flash again
I have a supposed dump from a 6915, however it is a straight dump and I have not found how to convert it yet. The task is further complicated since these HP people haven't ever released ANY kind of update... so nothing to compare it to. If we had just one CEOS.NBF file to work from for this device we could conceivably start a wm6 version utilizing the current OEM drivers from WM5.
hmm
i do have ceos.nbf for hw69xx... i'll check with hp (since im under nda) if i can make it public...

probably cant since its windows licence which is going to be vailated...
maybe...
maybe hp could post initial firmware (which contains all the nbf files)
HP has release a so called driver update for the HW6910 vodafone on the website, sadly it is just a cab install, which may means that HP does not want to release update in the ROM NBF format so to prevent users from play with the ROM switching. Let's wait and see.
Remember guys this is a HTC device so I am willing to bet that somebody at HTC might have some information on what we need.

I think its not that.. HP does not have any update to english OS so there is no need to post image files if all the english devices are at latest version... when / if they do an update, then you will have image on their site...
But WM6 guess wont happen...
I have checked the list of the bug fixes of the cab update, it includes a lot OS side fix, naturally this can be included in a full ROM update but as HP released it as CAB update, i really doubt if they will release a ROM update in any near future.
The OS side fixes seem to be related to how the unit interfaces with their particular network(vodafone). That's actually not bad news since this was probably a vodafone pushed update not an hp issue. We might get better response from the carriers than HP, they have more muscle than a bunch of online guys *****ing about no WM6.
Found some interesting news. The recent flash utility found was taken from a radio rom update found on HPs site..... HP is having problems with this radio rom update and has informed many customers that they are aware of the problem and if the update damages their device they will have to send it in for repairs. So this might point to problems with the flash utility itself (maybe just the radio rom), they have said that they will be updating the update soon....
Maybe this is why HP doesn't release a rom update, they might be getting sloppy and don't want to risk it.
I hope this little update bricks enough phones so that they will have to release a "restore" utility.. Sorry I don't wish anybodies phones to be bricked but if it happened already!
which driverbase to use
anyone got a clue which wm6 ceos.nbf would contain most probaple set of drivers compatible with hw69xx ?
proceed..?
i did some testing and while i threw in some xda wm6 ceos.nbf the obvious thing happened -> Unit just froze during flashing ceos.nbf and then it locked into BL mode. I'll try to push valid rom back and then we only need correct ceos.nbf
Yeah it wont work. The rom alone as WM6 put into an NBF format for that particular phone at the right offset with the right drivers will start. However the file names being the same extension (NBF) says nothing of the formatting let alone the drivers for the rom. Is like mixing a poddle with a shark, LOL...
What we still need is an original WM5 CEOS.NBF rom not a dump, and you know what we should all have this at least, dont you get a factory restore cd with any bought pc with an os. You have already paid for the rights to use the PC with the os and as well as a means to restore your investment in case of failure like ALL pcs out there.
I wont ask for HP to create WM6, thats their choice, but for the love of god release a freaking restore rom or update for WM5. Is something I already paid to use illegal for me to have a copy off? NO ITS NOT!

Functions of dutty´s NBH Tool and HTC Rom Tool of dark simpson

I tried to understand the functionality and possibilities of the ROM Tools dutty´s NBH 1.1 and HTC ROM Tool of dark simpson.
The work great and are really easy to use.
I extracted successfully some different ROM components with dutty´s tool and build it together in a new way with the HTC Tool. For example i extracted a radio rom, build it in a new nbH file with HTC and flashed it to my pda - it works fine.
Questions to the profs:
Is it possible to change only the ExRom in this way, so that i can set only one extracted Extended ROM in HTC Tool (nothing else), getting a flashible rom?
For what purpose do i need the GP3 and GP4 SPLs and the IPL? I lost them blank by building the radio rom and it works.
I agree they are good tools - i use them likewise. Yes you can just flash extended rom - nb to nbh then flash.
You do not need spl ipl when flashing - in fact best leave then out - it greatly reduces the chances of bricking your device.
Thx - Hmmm !!?
In which cases do i need to put this files (GP3 SPL GP4 SPL and IPL) into the HTC Rom Tool building a new rom?
What ist real purpose? Normally i do not have to change them, but when why?
Is this the base or a part of a new bootloader or new OS architecture?
Part of the bootloader - thats why you can brick your device (has to return to manufacturer - cannot fix on the forum) if it goes wrong. An upgrade in spl ipl will possibly give a slight increase in boot time but nil else. So my advice is leave well alone. Most cooks concentrate on the os with maimach tools etc.. the tendecy now is to do little or nothing with the extended rom - and most cooks stay clear of ipl/spl upgrades.

Model number conflicts/ROM upgrade problem

I recently acquired an Artemis that was externally branded as a Dopod. Even though a new device, it contained an O2 ROM (1.25.207.1 GER) in German. I have been able to successfully change to WM5 (1.12.405.101) and WM6 (3.13.405.1), as well as WM6 O2 WM6 Premium Plus 1.0. Each time I used USPL before changing the ROM. These changes happened without a hitch.
However, when I attempt to change to a Dopod WM5 (1.25.707.2) or WM6 (3.7.707.1) ROM, I get an Invalid Model ID error message. I'm trying to understand the problem as well as any potential fix.
After a lot of time in the forums, I seem to be going in circles. I see multiple references to other unexplained Model ID problems, but no clear answer. Unfortunately, I did not check the model number while I still had the O2 ROM installed. I'm not sure if the number was ARTE200 or ARTE100, which it is right now with the HTC WM6 ROM installed.
One possible solution I found for a similar situation was a message by dtobin suggesting a re-install of the original O2 ROM and then changes to the Dopod ROMs. I'll try that tomorrow.
Can anyone suggest a different path or solution. I just have not made the connection as to why I can go back to the HTC ROMs, but not back to the Dopod.
thanks

Which activesync do you use?

seejsee:
uspl needs some patching. it will not allow any rom installation, but will allow most of them.
if you want to find out model id:
start-settings--system-device information-identity. there is ARTEXXX number.
you can also open back cover, remove a battery, there is a model on a sticker.
when you want to flash official shipped WM6 HTC ROM for the different country device (you want to change a ROM language on your device)
the solution for you is this:
0. get original shipped ROM for your device.
register your device on htc site (eClub or something..). this will alow to download rom relevant for your device (original, shipped rom). it is always a good idea to have it, in case if something will go wrong during upgrade. you will be able to go back, using original rom.
1. take a rom, which was flashed successfully on your device last time (or you can take original shipped htc rom, which you have downloaded)
2. extract files from this rom with winrar or other utility
3. locate RUU_signed.nbh file. open it in winhex editor or other hex editor tool. make a note of model id and country code.
model - offset 00000040 (example: ARTE1000), country - 000001E0 (example HTC__001). the example is for engl. rom.
4. take a rom you wish to flash (the one does not flash with uspl installed). extract this rom (same as in step 2)
you will need to make small "adjustments" in this rom.
correct country and model id to values corresponding to "last good flashed rom".
5. save changes in .nbh file.
6. flash this "corrected" rom as you normally do with ROMUpdateUtility.exe, from the directory where you have extracted files.
you can simplify process and use following values on all ROMs, when you modify your desired .NBH file:
- for the model ARTE1***
- for country code 11111111
this will work with USPL.
re: USPL must be installed prior to flashing or device must be CID unlocked.
after flashing ROM, install USPL again, because it will be overwritten by new ROM.

wm6 x htc p3300

this is true for any htc shipped official wm6 rom.

Success!
I took the advice of fdp24 and used a hexeditor to modify the model number and country code of the .nbh file in the desired ROM to match the data from a ROM that would install.
I will also try the 11111111 approach too.

cc
another succes here, changed the value's with winhex, now I have the official english htc rom wm6 on a dutch p3300, thanks!!

problems with 8525 Lost Radio & gms

first thing done to the phone was to use Hard-SPL-V7 then I used OS 5.2.20924 (Build 20924.1.5.0 PV DVH) Black(Full) BS V27.exe changed to Schaps_WM6Pro_WWE_3.57a_Full_28-07.exe
phone work great radio was fine for a week and lost it yesterday change back to Hard-SPL
I can't load any radio alone but loaded full roms tried RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_2_1_.15.502.3_6275_1.40.30.00_108_Ship loads all the way but no radio
Are you sure the stock rom had a radio rom in it? If you got from here and tried it may have been a stripped rom. Try running the Shipped ROM. It may recover or may not. Radio roms are the Achille's heel of the Hermes...

satriani22, right click on the .exe file . It should have the option to "extract here". This will give you all the file. I believe you will need to search through the folders to find the RUU_Wrapper.nbh file.
Copy to an sd card formated FAT32 (must be 2Gb or less) and rename to Hermimg.nbh. Put in Hermes & reset to bootloader. Follow the prompts.
YOU MUST HAVE HARD SPL INSTALLED TO DO THIS.
This is not a sure fire way to fix this problem, you may not be able to fix this...
Make sure you flash the SHIPPED STOCK ROM, not just a stock rom from anywhere.
Good Luck...
Any Idea or link where I can get the stock radio could use the help still a little lost ..
What carrier supplied the device? If it was AT&T, doo a search for the AT&T ROM. I don't know if they still have an upgrade on their site as most carriers don't support the Hermes anymore.
Radio
downloaded radio1.54.07.00 which is strip out of AT & T rom tried from computer to flash fail loaded the RUU_signed.nbh renamed it to hermimg.nbh copy to sd tried gets about a quater of the way and locks up any ideas ?
Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday mate, bit busy.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it may be that you have a permanent brick on your hands....
The radio rom is the number 1 cause of permanent bricks. If the memory area of the radio is corrupted then its impossible to fix. I have yet to see ANYONE say that they have permanently recovered the radio rom successfully.

Procedure for flashing (how i am flashing rom)
I have phone elfin 128mb ram. What you want softwares:
1) device info software for information regarding your device.
2) rom extractor... htc rom image editor version 0.4.0.51
AnDim
3) ROM builder. With this tool you can build a ROM (*.nbh)
from a rom parts (*.nb) in a comfortable interface.
by - Alexander "Dark Simpson" Simonov.
you can flash rom compatible with your CID (country/caller id) i.e. rom that you are going to flash must have cid of your phone.
steps:
Connect your Phone and establish Activesync Connection
find following for flashing:
Device ID : ELF0******
CID : ur cid. of phone.
GSM.nb radio file
IPL_H3.nb ipl h3 file
OS.nb os file extracted from built rom.
SPL.nb spl file
For deviceID you need to have software called deviceinfo.exe
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=418892&page=18
download link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=129675&d=1258726424
then download any rom say onyx 6release. latest.
http://www.mediafire.com/?vjey0kz5ng0
then you will get RUU_signed.nbh
extract OS.nh from RUU_signed.nbh
save to one folder.
then you will need.
GSM.nb radio file
IPL_H3.nb ipl h3 file
SPL.nb spl file
extract same from follwoing links:
radio: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=527048
choose as per yuor choice.
same extract
GSM.nb from *.nbh and save to folder.
similarly do for ipl/spl.
so you have following files needed for making your compatible rom:
IPL_H3.nb ipl h3 file
SPL.nb spl file
GSM.nb radio file
OS.nb os file extracted from built rom.
Step 2:
Now make rom for your elfin
you need to have software called
ROM builder. With this tool you can build a ROM (*.nbh)
from a rom parts (*.nb) in a comfortable interface.
Alexander "Dark Simpson" Simonov
link:http://www.real-radio.ru/htcrt/download/htcrt.zip
download the tool run in your pc, a pic that i have attached of that software.
then
run htcrt.exe
then start,
then ROM builder,
choose ur phone.
in that choose the relevant options for your phone/requirement
put Model ID:, Country ID:, Version: 3.14.706.02
language:WWE
firmware contents:
load all that you have stored in your folder the files you want.
IPL_H3.nb ipl h3 file
SPL.nb spl file
GSM.nb radio file
OS.nb os file extracted from built rom
then press
Build!
you will find that you have give name to your file named it
RUU_signed and it will make rom for your phone.
after it is completed it shows everythings seems to be ok
then close you have build your own rom compatible with your mobile.
RUU_signed.nbh
now flash it to your mobile.
how will you?????
steps:
have custome ruu files in one folder
following files must be there:
RUU_signed.nbh
EnterBootloader.exe
ErrorBattery.fig
ErrorUSB.fig

RUUGetInfo.exe
RUUResource.dll
Temp.bat
then run
ROMUpdateUtility.exe..
must connect your phone through usb.
start your phone pressing camera key you will see triple colour screen showing ipl/spl/
blue,green,red.
flash it from pc.
after every thing is over your will get message update complete.
your will get your rom flashed. but every data before flash must be back up.
this is bit lengthy but easy to use and flash....
if found probs reply me
well good one. tried it. works. but this is a lengthy process. rather dont you think cid unlocking it once will allow you to flash as many roms as you want. once you have unlocked it you just need to a custom ruu and a rom file. thats it. rest you know how to go about. i appreciate your method.
edit: wrong post - plz delete
