Hard reset: Programms needed or more space? - Wing, P4350 General

Hi,
I did a hard reset. I noticed, that after the basic configuration are several "programms" are installed. This installation is about 16mb
If I do a soft reset befor the installation, I can safe these 16mb.
Now the questions:
Which programms are installed? Do I "need" these programms?
Because if there are no important programms, I would prefer to safe this 16mb?
Is it recomment to install these programms?
Best regards,
Doktor

Uninstalling Extended ROM apps

How do I uninstall programs that have been installed from the extended ROM that do not have an entry in "Remove Programs"?
ya ... i also wanna know the same ...
alternatively what cab does what in the extended rom so that i can install them as i wish after a hard reset ...
any1? i know there are lotsa geniuses out there ...
After a hard reset, before it starts to install the programs do a soft reset... it stops all default apps from installing.
Other than that... im not sure...
Use a program like CAB manager to learn about the content of the cab-files. Or view them with winzip etc. The default ext-rom cabs have a 'no-uninstall' option, probably that's why you cannot see them in the uninstall screen. But use the previous tip: hard-reset and soft-reset before the customization starts, to end with a clean device. Then install from ext-rom what you think you need, maybe after hacking them, sonyou can uninstall them.

Customise Install (Customising In 3 Seconds)

Hi, is it possible to customise what is installed on a hard reset? As when the device says customizing in 3 seconds the cabs in the extended rom are installed.
I particularly noticed this on the Custom ROM designed by Button, he/she had total commander and a few other cabs installing at this point.
I would be grateful if any one knows how please?
Thanks.
do a soft reset when u see the 'customising in 3,2,1'
then install totalcommander and type \ExtendedROM into it and u see the ExtRom contents.
install at will from there.
do a search here on extrom install for more lengthy descriptions.

Stop Progs from EXtRom to install

Hi
I am a newbie to tweaking PDAs and I am expecting a new P3300 from expansys... question is how do I stop unwanted programs from ExtRom to install?
Thank you
My guess is you can't stop them from being installed in original ROM cause that's how it's built. But unofficial, custom ROM builds tend to modify ExtROM.
What can be done is accessing of ExtROM and removing programs from there, but I haven't read much on this subject. Check this for example http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285519
I am not sure if it is what you want. To stop all the crap from network provider from installing after hard reset I used to soft reset the device as soon as it finishes startup. There is a message for about 2-3 sec that customization is going to install. I then press the reset button and have clean OS (except some small customizations like internet settings and some icons).
one other way to do it which worked for me. i installed Total Commander CE then in the command line I typed \Extended_ROM and it showed the contents of my ExtROM. i deleted all files from there, did a hard reset, and of course nothing was installed from extROM.
unfortunately, some unneccessary programs are in the ROM, not extROM. and there's just no way to delete them, but to create custom ROM....
hi dim4x4 and Adigital
thanks for replying, what I actually intend to do is stop installation of crap software when hard resetting (like clearvue pdf viewer)that are built in to the extended ROM. I just want to install those ones that are necessary to run the machine. I will be getting the HTC p3300.
In my case ClearView is in the ROM, not ExtROM. Try Dopod custom ROMs, they have Adobe Reader LE instead of ClearView.

hi guys..i m using a HTC touch (GSM) with WM professional 6...hw can i reinstall/reformat the OS completely...i try google and search here bt all thy give is hard reset, not reformat the OS..so no choice bt to ask help here...pls sumbody guide me....thk u vy much 4 ur time...=)
What do you mean by reformat ? If you want to return to factory settings, hard reset is the answer.
HI
Did you install a cooked rom and you want to return to the original HTC rom of your Device , If so you need to search and download the official rom specific for device model and flash it (your device will become locked again unless yoy had a hard SPL)
If you Didnot install a cooked rom and still have the original one but having some problems may be due to installing some programs then all you need is a hard reset

oh..i didnt install any cooked rom, jz tat my phone awiz hang for no reason (no application running at all jz msg) and sumtime restart itself, so i sent to shop n thy say mayb its virus n ask me to format it...so any idea hw to solve tis??...btw can i trace de virus??thx...
Hard reset reinstalls your original rom new as it came out of the box but it will erase all data and programs you added to phone
Hanging ,resetting and slowing may be due to virus(not common on WM) or more commonly low memory (too much prog or data on internal storage) , Bad or incompatible software
Antivirus
There are several antivirus prog for handheld devices (Kasersky , McAfee etc) search Google buy or use a trial version and check your device
If infected after removing virus it is better to format SD card
Reformat OS = Flash.

Yes, hard reset also clear memory too.
but to be extra safe, flashing is a better bet.
Flash to stock htc rom.
Hard reset clears your phone completely
to backup your data you can
Use SPB backup(I had it on HTC software disc in thge box) this will back all your settings ,contacts , messages and programs into an exe file on SD card after hard reset run it and everything is there again BUTif the cause is virus or bad programe it will retun to so i prefer that you dont backup programs
PIMbackup is also a free tool to back your messages and contacts only
how to flash locked htc has stock on logo plz help rely need on [email protected]
