Generic RNDIS Drivers not found & other Problems - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hello,
Just upgraded my 8525 to the latest and greatest ROM. Well ... greatest should really be within quotes!!!
I'm having 2 problems ...
#1) I cannot use my phone thru DUN. I select Internet Sharing. Disable ActiveSync on my PC. Select PC Connection as USB and Network Connection as My ISP GPRS. When I connect the USB cable, I immediately get a message box that New Hardware has been found (Generic RNDIS). Windows (XP-SP2) then prompts me to install the drivers. I click Next but it does not find them and throws an error that Drivers could not be found. I've searched the internet and HTC sites in vain, but cannot find anything that helps.
#2) When I connect my device using ActiveSync (4.5), I cannot get the device to use ActiveSync as a pass-thru for the internet. This results in any calls made to the internet to fail.
Any help would be appreciated. I'm back on the road on Tuesday and need to get this resolved.
Thanks

Mike,
I had tried that earlier today but it did not work. I unzipped the file and pointed the "Find New Hardware" wizard to that directory location. When I click Next it searches and finally returns with "The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software".
I'm confused. Aren't the Remote NDIS drivers part of the ActiveSync install? What am I missing here?

I have exactly the same problem, and I still didn't find any solution
I have exactly the same problem, and I still didn't find any solution

I also have the same Problem but a different situation
I would like to tether with my phone which I can do with no problem on most computers. However I have a corporate laptop that I cannot install activesynch on...So i just need the driver to install when I connect my phone via USB.
So i get the same error as the guys above me...so any fix to this problem that does not involve installing activesync would be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance

Hi everybody,
Yesterday I had the same problem, but I resolved it.
First, install Activesync 4.5.
Second, when you plug your device and it ask you for the driver generic RNDIS driver, you can choose the place of this driver (don't choose automatic).
So point the "Find New Hardware" wizard to that directory location :
C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\Drivers
Then Ok (or next I don't remember)! After windows'd install alone the good driver.
Enjoy your synchronization!
Bye bye

Upgrade ActiveSync

When I used ActiveSync 3.7, this version can not recognize Generic RNDIS. I’d upgrade this version into ActiveSync 4.5, its work.

Generic RNDIS Error for Windows 2003
Hi Guys,
I am also facing the same problem but I am using windows 2003 server.
I am using HTC Touch phone. Please help me out with some solutions.
Thanks
Murali €N

I had this same problem with my HTC Touch Cruise. Here's what solved it:
Go to Settings > Connections > USB to PC
Uncheck Enable advanced network functionality
Then the computer sees your mobile and sync begins (at least for me).

Something worth trying...
If you look at the driver settings for "Windows Mobile Device" under WinXP it shows a file called:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\rndismpx.sys
I'm wondering if the rndismpx.sys file is all one needs to use to install the driver so that WinXP will see the WM phone as a viable device and therefore allow you to use it's Internet Connection Sharing function to give the PC a data connection to the net?

Ok I too had this problem, and refuse to use active sync as it always muck up my special clock settings. This is what fixed it for me.
As i DO have active sync installed on my desktop system, and taking the advice of the persom who posted above, i just copied the "DRIVERS" folder onto a disk (From \Programme files\Microsoft Activesync), took that to the laptop i needed to install on, and installed the driver manually, pointing to the DRIVERS folder on th CD i just made. All installed, and "Pinging" nicely!

If you're having problems syncing with Windows 7 RC1, try the steps in this article.

How use ATOM as modem to connect my laptop to internet

Hi.
I have an ATOM and I would like to use my MacBook and my Laptop PC to connect trought the ATOM EDGE funtion using Bluetooth.
I can easly navigate in internet using ATOM internal browser and programs but I'd like to use as a modem it.
Can anyone explain me how does it work to connect to my 2 Laptops (one per time)?
I tried connecting it before to the net then using WiFi or bluetooth .. but nothing to do.
Very sad.
I'd like to use it much more but is always swithced off closed in the box!
Thank You very much for your help
Ciao
Cixi,
I had the same request and was actually coming back to my original post to update it with the information that i got from O2 and finally I managed to set up for oth a USB modem connection and a USB one. I have attached the USB Modem driver but saved as a .txt file so you will have to open it in note pad and rename it as a .INF file (can also be found on the companion CD that shipped with your Atom) to this post (if uploading allows).
Below are the detailed instructions from O2 to set up a USB connection.
Regards
Chris.
Wireless Modem via USB for XdaAtom
a.) Installing USB Modem driver
1. On your PC, launch Microsoft Activesync. Click on File  Connection Setting
2. Uncheck “Allow USB Connections” and “Allow connections to one of the following” then Click “OK”
3. Microsoft Activesync is disabled.
4. On your device, tap on Start  Programs  Modem Link
5. Select “USB” for the from the Connection drop-down menu.
6. Tap on “Active” and connect your USB cable with your device and the USB port on your PC.
7. Windows XP will recognize the device as a new USB device an will start to install the required modem driver.
8. Select “Install from a list or specific location” and Click “Next”
9. Select “Don’t search. I will choose the driver to install”.
10. Select Modems and click “Next”.
11. Click on “Have ****”.
12. Now browse the location where you have stored the modem driver and click “Open”.
13. Click “Next” to continue the installation.
14. Windows XP will notify you that the driver isn't digital signed so click “Continue Anyway”.
15. Now the driver will be copied to the appropriate location.
16. If the installation was successful you will get a notification from Windows XP. Click “Finish”.
b.) Configuring USB Modem Driver
1. On your PC, Click on Start  Control Panel  Phone and Modem Options
2. Select “O2 USB Modem Link” and click “Properties”.
3. Select “Advanced” tab and type in Extra initialization commands and Click “OK”. (Command is: AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","YOUR_APN_NAME","",0,0)
** Depending on which service you wants to create a connection to, you have to use the appropriate APN name and replace the “YOUR_APN_NAME”. You may want to refer to your operator or its web site for the APN names.
c.) Create a Dial-up Connection
1. Start  Control Panel  Network Connection
2. Click on “ Create a new connection”.
3. Open the "New Connection Wizard" in XP and select “Connect to Internet” and click “Next”.
4. Choose “Set up my connection manually” and click “Next”.
5. Select “Connect using a dial-up modem” and click “Next”.
6. Tick on “O2 USB Modem Link” only and click “Next”.
7. Type in any name for your connection and click “Next”.
8. Type in Phone Number “*99#” and click “Next”
9. Type in Username and Password required (if any) and click “Next” then “Finish”.
10. Press “Dial” to connect to your modem connection.
11. If everything worked fine, you should able to get connected.
d.) Disconnect USB Wireless Modem
1. On your device, tap on “Deactivate” to disconnect Wireless Modem connection.

you so funny!

And as Kropotov points out, he was very helpful in assisting me on the previous post that he references above and that i was coming back to update prior to seeing your post.
Attached is the set up instructions for BT Modem link.
Diffence is that with USB modem the connection is of course faster than BT. Also your phone can still accept phone calls while your using the USB modem link but go straight to your Voice mail if your using the BT modem connection.
Thank You All.
Do you think it will work with MacBook Pro too?
I left the Atom at home and now I'm around so I can't try your settings in windoz but as soon as I get back I try them so I can tell you more.
I prefer BT communications since I can swap between PC and MAC easly
Thank You anyway great persons here.
Any idea on how could I achive this with SuSe Linux 10 running KDE?

Hi, you don't need to install anything, just plug your atom via usb cable and run internet sharing application, tap connect then it should be a usb modem.
How about Atom Exec as modem to connect my laptop to internet
How about Atom Exec as modem to connect my laptop to internet by using Vista
any idea?
Why All That?
Read first post and was thinking why you need to connect your Atom Life as modem with manual setting while its just one click away
Assuming A) you have GPRS connection and phone data settings are working as told by GSM provider, you can browse on your phone.
Assuming B) On your pc/laptop you must have installed either ActiveSync 4.2 (WinXP) or later or Mobile_Device_Centre in any version of Vista and you are able to connect your phone to pc. NO NEED TO DISABLE, KEEP THEM WORKING.
If you are ready with above two things, just do one following step.
Step 1) Start >> Programms >> Internet Sharing >> Connect. THATS ALL, YOU ARE ALREADY BROWSING ON YOUR PC.
Only two options are seen in INTERNET SHARING, first to select is USB and second is your GPRS connection profile.
Someone please tell me why all those manual things are required, just for browsing on pc/laptop.
thanks
thank you very much!

vista don't recognize hermes

Please note that with the "old" notebock, with vista too, i have use the Hermes without problem.
Just connect via usb and all works fine.
Now with the new notebock (same os (wm6.0 in ppc, and vista home in the notebock)) i have problems.
Vista dont recognize hermes.
so i cant connect ppc to notebock.
Some ona have idea how can i do a connection and a sync with vista.
Ps
i have install the wmdc but dosent works.
Please help.
pps
i have try to unceck enable advanced network funcionality, but when i do this i receive this error:
Fallied to disable RNDIS to use serial.
nobody can help me?
Damn
im going be crazy.
if i use internet sharing and conect the pda with notebook all works fine.
Pc find the rnids device and i can go to internet.
But if i try to sync the pc dont reconize the ppc...
welcom to the VISTA world
I've had nothing but issues with Vista and WM6 on my Hermes.
The few things I can suggest.
1) As you say Disable the Advanced networking....
2) Connect directly to a USB port, not through a hub.
3) Try soft-resetting your phone between connection attempts.
4) Remove associations between Vista and your phone.
I find that the first time I connect it everything's good, but on subsequent attempts it's hit and miss.
If you are using vista, there's an update for Windows Mobile software on the microsoft website.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/devicecenter.mspx
you need to install 6.1 for it in order for WM6 to work with vista.
Cheers

If he is using the same version of WM Device center on both computers and i am assuming he is, then i doubt it will fix the problem by downloading the latest version as i have that version installed on both my pc's.
I had the same problem, where windows just detected the device as an unknown device and therefore wouldnt let me sync.
right click on my computer and click manage, then plug in your device and see if you have any unknown devices appearing if you do right click on it and click uninstall then unplug the device and wait 10 seconds then plug it back in, this solved it for me. Although i still have to do this every so often. But at least it allows me to sync with both my pc's

Cannot Install Windows Mobile remote adapter (WMDC) Error 800F0204

I have recently installed Windows Vista on my computer and hooked up my also newly formatted PDA HTC TyTN with WM6 and as usual i cannot get them to work together, even speak. This by usb cable.
As i connected it to Vista it popped up asking me for a driver which i chose to install when Windows update said there was an update for it.
Error messages included:
This is my greeting message as soon as i start my computer and login to Vista:

Installing the driver like Vista want to:
http://www.premier69.com/images/stories/Capture1.JPG
And the not so helpful error message:
http://www.premier69.com/images/stories/Capture2.JPG
If any of you would like, in order to help i can allow remote controlling of my computer.
I will offer compensation via paypal for anyone who will take the time to remote connect to my computer and fix my problem, i have been trying for a very long time now and i cant figure it out.
we can discuss level of compensation but be aware i am by no means rich.
If I understand u, try this
1- donlod Window device center from here
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...f1-e46a-4a5f-a791-09f07aaa1914&displaylang=en
choose for Windows Vista (32-bit) or (64-bit)
& let me know
I have already tried that, i downloaded the x64 version for my vista installation and i start the install file, the progressbar loads fully then retracts and the installations program self-closes. no messages or anything.
i am serious when i say i am really stumped by how my system is acting...
try installing WMDC in safe mode, sounds like a file permissions problem
yup i tried that too, it didn't even open the installation wizard.
Got same problem - fixed with changing registry permissions
hi guys,
i was battling with this for a few days after a reinstall of my laptop. updated to vista sp2 and there you go, couldnt sync and got the error.
after mucking about i saw there were some access denied errors for the registry. this is what i did to fix it:
registry key in question:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Svchost\WindowsMobile
- Right click -> Permissions -> Advanced
- Took owner ship of the registry key
- Gave the Users group Full Control.
Then in device manager:
- Uninstalled my Microsoft Mobile Remote Adapter
- Scan hardware changes
and then it installed properly and am able to sync again
aj
thank you
Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
i have been in this issue since 2 days, and what got me crazy after i have read your post that I'm the one who restricted the access to this registry using a domain policy(I'm a network administrator) for security reasons, but i don't know why i didn't got it @ first.
I granted my self the permission and it was able to install the drivers and letting WMDC starts.
thank youuuuuuuuuuuuu again and again and again.

Is this the first time you will sync your unit with your PC or you'd been syncing with your PC before and just have this problem now?
....from the first time i brought it.... until now...
any relation with my rom 1.40.721.3 ???
Do you get an error? is it connecting at all?
currently i use it as a modem for my pc. no problem at all except using activesync 4.5
Have you tried re-installing the ActiveSync using the provided StartUp disc ?
i already done that. but i download it from microsoft.com.
You could try to update the device drivers in XP
(Control Panel --> Device Manager --> Portable Devices --> Touch 3G T3232 --> right mouse click --> update drivers --> let it search automatically)
there is no "Portable Devices" in my xp Device Manager...
if you use the device as a modem you can't use active sync as well. I have noticed a handy little feature on this phone that when i plug it into a pc it gives me an option on the phone to use the device as active sync, mass storage or modem.
I would sugest that this is your problem, there is an option to always use the option you selected so if you chose alsways use as modem then you will never get an active sync go to settings, connections then usb to pc and see what you have got selected, i have the option ticked to always ask me.
Tom
i know that option, because i can read & write my storage. when i use it as a modem, at same time, i cannot access the storage.
right now, i copy cab file to storage in order to install the program...

HELP!! Windows 7 cannot sync with HTC TyTn

Connecting my device to my windows 7 pc does jack ****. Every time it tries to install some 'Generic Driver Serial', which then fails, and WMDC doesn't connect. I don't know why. Similarly, on the device activesync there is no option to 'sync', just bull**** about making sure i have synchronization software. WMDC seems to be a large step BACK from activesync.
You could try to change the "Enable advanced network functions"-setting in Start -> Settings -> System -> USB to PC.
I had the same problem and this helped.
Regards, din1316
Automatic updates needs to download an "optional" update for HTC devices... Connect Hermes and do an update... Seems to be a mongrel to do but works fine once its installed...
i had that same error on my cousins hermes. what i did i went to device manager and updated the driver and it worked
now all i gotta do is find a way to get internet sharing to work
