Modify ExtRom for Hermes (WM5) - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

I've asked this question quite often in this forum, but until now nobody can help me. I'll try it again and hope for good news here.
Like in bepe's kitchen for WM6 Hermes ROM, I need it for WM5. I have to modify the ExtROM only, some programs in it should be deleted (branding) and some cab-files must be included. In WM6 kitchen this can realized with the folder OEMOPERATORS. This folder comprised all of these files and can modified as you like, with cooking a new nbh-file as following (very easy).
Is it possible to do this also with a WM5 ROM? Which tool can be used for this (looking for "WM5 ROM kitchen for HERMES")? What is the different in file structure between WM5 and WM6?
I know, WM5 is "old" and not the favoured OS in this forum, but technical reasons squeeze me to testing this.
I'm looking forward to your statements and hope for support.
Thanks in advance!

Can mkrom cook WM2003 rom now?

it seems that kichten can cook WM2003 rom now, but how about the standalone mkrom. it takes quite some effort to set up a kichten and what I really need is just putting a few my files into rom. all the customization can be easily done afterwards and backup to SD card.
So my question, can the mkrom cook wm2003 ROM?

I'm trying to figure that one out too... All I want to do is replace sounds and ringtones and the boot image in the 4.00.16 rom with my own and a couple programs only. I've already sat up the rom from a rom kitchen (not my own) but now need to do the fine tuning.
Any suggestions on a mkrom 2003 edition? :?:

the 2003 ROM with the highest available

I do need a solution. Since it seems that I'm to hard to be understanding I'm tring this way
- what is the ROM version of WM2003 which have the highest available space to be added in a kitchen ?
The problem is that I want to find the on with 3,906 Kb and not with 2,119 Kb. Also where can I find it (can I cet it in Jeff's kitchen or somwhere else) ?
And lastly: are any funcional differences between 4.00.05 - 4.00.10 - 4.00.16 except the operators personalization ?
Thanks again,
Decebal
Don't think there is a 2003 rom with that much space available. Take a .11 rom and take out the progs you dont want. Since the compression factor is not used in mkrom or the kitchen you will have tight fit no matter what you do.

Cooking a Tornado Rom

Hello.
I think ive been reading for the last 5 hours about this topic.
I've managed to dump the ipl spl splash gsm os .nb files using typhoonnbfdecode.pl.
Then i managed to decode os.nb using prepare_imgfs.exe -nosplit option and then make_imgfs.exe. The next thing recmod crashes.
Ignoring that crash, I've changed a folder in the dump rom and I've tried to compile it using BuildImgfs.exe and make_imgfs.exe but nothing happens actually.
Would you please give me advice on this topic? I need to replace the keyboard driver from a orange aku2 tornado rom to a i-mate rom.
its been a "long" time since i wrote this.
what have i found more? i now know to compile the files back *the nb files to one nbf file*.
so i now have a dump directory but i can't compile it.
if you have any advice on this, please help.
Hey
I'm interested in cooking a new Tornado ROM as the old AKU2.0 is, well, OLD! lol.
could you point me in the direction of a nice comprehensive guide on cooking a rom? and what software would i need?
thanx
i know like almost 80% of the process but i cant compile the .nb or .nba file after i dump it.
Hey
Do you have all the necessary files to do the rom kitchen?
------------------------------------------
Device-dependent packages:
DEV:
[li]DEV_Himalaya_v1.50.rar[/li]
ROM:
[li]ROM_Himalaya_v1.50_3.00a.00.rar - 128MB RAM[/li]
[li]ROM_Himalaya_v1.50_3.00a.32.rar - 96MB RAM / 32MB RAMDisk[/li]
[li]ROM_Himalaya_v1.50_3.00a.64.rar - 64MB RAM / 64MB RAMDisk[/li]
Independent packages: !!! Both should have the same AKU !!!
OS:
[li]OS_AKU_2.0_v1.50.rar - AKU 2.0 (Build 14847)[/li]
[li]OS_AKU_2.2_v1.50.rar - AKU 2.2 (Build 14928)[/li]
[li]OS_AKU_2.3_v1.50.rar - AKU 2.3 (Build 14955)[/li]
[li]OS_AKU_3.0_v1.51.rar - AKU 3.0 (Build 15096)[/li]
LOC:
[li]LOC_AKU_2.0_v1.50_[ WWE | GER ].rar - AKU 2.0 [/li]
[li]LOC_AKU_2.3_v1.50_[ WWE ] - AKU 2.3[/li]
[li]LOC_AKU_3.0_v1.50_[ WWE ] - AKU 3.0[/li]
------------------------------------------
basically the above but for Tornado instead
I'm assuming, because we're simply using a different AKU update, and not an actual NEW OS update, (as when people were upgrading from WM2003SE to WM5 i can understand there would be driver incompatibilities)
so, it should really be as simple as basically extracting the relevant keyboard/joystick/camera/hardware button drivers and inserting them into the SPL rom?
could you post what you have currently?
or better still, could you zip everything up and email it over to me at gmail? its duke.stix [at] googlemail [dot] com
i really wanna upgrade the AKU on the tornado! the aku 3.5 update on the pocketPC's looks a whole lot different!
ah, the thing is i dont have anything right now.
its useless all this work if you dont even know how to compile the final product.
when i will do the succesfull compiling of the dump i will do the cooking.
hello everybody
please share a simple Tornado ROM kitchen

The best ROM to choose?

Hello!
I have seen that there are pretty many roms to choose from. I would like to ask you which ROM you would recommend installing - from the number of posts I can see that bepe's rom is the most popular, but on the other hand there are also many complaints...
Personally, I do not have time to test all the wonderful ROMs you publish, that is why I would like to limit myself to only one developer (and his roms).
Thank you for help!
Best regards,
Theriel
For me it is the Bepe 0.67 - I have an O2 Orbit 2 Pola200 handset
Very stable and has the latest Radio stack and hard spl
Read my signature!
I'm with Jibreil on this one.
I've tried Bepe and swtos ROM's but ASerg runs faster and better for me than the others.
I would choose ASerg if it wasn't for all the stuff I do not use (Total Commander - I have Resco, PIM backup - I use sprite, don't need CVSD, nor voip, nor Advance Configuration Tool - I do it manually, keyboard - I use PCM, I don't need black bars.... etc).
Except for the fact it contains in majority things I would never use it looks very good .
You would not use Aserg, so which one DO YOU USE?
At the moment? None (i.e. original). I am waiting for bepe's new release (as he said some couple of days ago that it is going to be released soon) but well... if there was something better to choose I wouldn't wait then .

Kitchens for himalaya rom

there are lot of kitchens on these forums, i was hoping that in this thread we can give links for all the kitchens available for himalaya rom, for wm 2003, wm2003se, wm5, wm6 and so on..
if there are kitchens which support other devices besides himalaya then it should also be mentioned
thanks
