Sim Contact? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

i know this question is pretty retarded but i have messed with my phone for the last few hours and i havnt been able to figure out how to make my contact list not show the sim contacts and only show the contacts saved to phone..
Without being flamed can somone give me the info?

Can't remember a better way, but try loading the sim_manager in your \windows\ folder, move sim contacts to normal contacts, and erase sim contacts! Probably not the best solution, but it works.

Outlook contacts to SIM

Does anyone know of an easy way to copy ALL Contacts on the Wiz (8125 Moloski ROM) to my SIM? I've tried a bunch of different utils with no success, followed quite a few peoples previous posts with no luck either.
If anyone knows of a good program or utility that does this easily I would really appreciate. Preferably something free.
Thanks,

Hmmm, copy all contacts to sim card? Are you sure you want to? In the phone your contacts have all the information you can have in outlook. On the sim card you are limited to name and number. So for example if you have a contact with 3 phone numbers, birthday, and email address copied to the sim card you would lose everything but the phone numbers and have 3 entries for that contact, 1 for each number.
Oh I definitely want to. I will still have all my contacts saved in outlook (with all the extended info), but I do want a copy on the sim card to put in my CU500 for use on nights & weekends type of thing.
Anyone? This is really killing me here :-/

Saving Contacts TO SIM FROM WM5

im using a 8125, and trying to save all the contacts within my phone memory (or on my computer in outlook) to my sim card so when i switch to using my NON-PPC phone all my contacts will be there.

I did a search because I now want to do this and this was the only useful post....too bad no one responded! THANKS!
Hmmm... don't switch.

My contact list looks funny...

Hello all, I just received my X1, and I am loving it! Great way to start off the new year! However my contact list looks funny...Is there any way to change my contact list? For some reason after every name is a /1 or /2. I am getting my contacts through my sim, is there a way to remove the /1 or /2, or would I have to go through every list and take it off?
try copying your contacts on to your phone to see whether that resolves it. Some phones (my old sony ericsson phone used to) stores primary, duplicate, mobile, work numbers etc. with backslashes.
Yea mine was like that too. I didnt want to change it manually so I just beamed them from my old phone one by one :|
I know what you would've done... You previously had a SE phone in which you had stored contacts with various numbers Home number, work number etc...
Then you copied them onto your sim, before putting in the sim to the X1.
Now this is the way SE stores them on the sim...
great...no way to fix this all together? lol yeahh i had a k810i, which i don't find to be too old of a phone...i tried exporting from the sim to the phone too, didn't change anything though. Is there a way to export your contact list to the computer? I could just write up a quick c++ program to take in the list and remove all slashes and everything after that.
I wanna export my contact list into my comp
Im having problems finding for my contacts on the phone because of the overlapping of names with /1 /2 sort of titles... but before i do any changes and arrange the contacts, i wanna save them into a list on my computer. but it doesnt show on the microsoft office outlook contact list ?? help me~!
totally new to pocket pc here... please help!
greatly appreciated.
W810i to Xperia
Yea similar thing happened to me. I have a w810i and i saved all my contacts to the sim, and tried to copy them into my Xperia. The contacts were saved like
last name; firstname /m (mobile)
last name; firstname /h (home)
So what i did was I put the SIM back in my w810i and sent the contacts via bluetooth. You don't need a sim to power on the Xperia. However, i was unable to get "Send all contacts" to work. So i had to send one at a time!, it was a pain, but at least it's better than trying to removed the /m /h and consolidate the numbers into one contact.
Hope this helps!
I just corrected all contract one by one... the problem is the difference between a mobile phoen and a smart phone...

Double contacts in SMS?

Anyone else getting every entry twice in the contacts list in SMS? I've selected contacts only in the options on the people tab, and i've enabled the hide SIM contacts fix in BsB Tweaks, both made no difference. I even applied the new SMS hotfix, still the same.
Hi ! Me too ... Any suggestions ? Thanks~
Be careful! Do not just delete one of the two.. Here that resulted in a mass SMS loss where I had to restore from MyPhone.
Open up Outlook and see if the Contacts are all double. That just happened with me too. I deleted every second contact from the two listed there and now it's all ok again.
Right well it's definitely a case of it's showing both SIM contacts and phone contacts, rather than a general duplication. I proved this by adding a contact on the phone (but not the SIM), and it only showed that contact once in the SMS contacts.
Yes I still have this problem too. I have asked about this previously......

......but I still can't get this one sorted out!
Did you guys synch with MyPhone? Maybe that caused the duplications.
Oh, sim contacts.. Yeah..
I just 'fixed it' by deleting ALL my SIM contacts and syncing with MyPhone every time I install a new rom or hard-reset.
Well there is that, but i'm looking for more of a cure than a remedy!
Is there a tweak in registry or something that we could do to fix it? Anyone?

deleting your sim contacts IS the cure. sim contacts are a throwback to when phones didn't have their own phone book so all contacts were sim contacts.
the problemwith sim contacts used that if you update a contact, then restore from sim (or just as annoying merge from sim) then you end up with thee wrong details for that contact.
best to just get rid off the sim ones altogether.
Agreed, but the sim contacts are there as a backup, if for example you have to put it in another phone for any reason. Anyway, you can select which contacts to display in the phonebook contacts list, so why shouldnt we able to apply the same choices to the contact list displayed in messaging? Just thought someone with registry knowledge could work out a fix maybe?

deleting SIM contacts isn't the cure my dear. People save their contact in their SIM for reasons. For me, Its in case of emergency... e.g my HD2 suddenly broke down (OMG!!) and I desperate need to call someone WHICH I DON'T REMEMBER THE NUMBER, then in this case i can simply remove the SIM card from my HD2 and slide it in any phones that i can find on that time. And I'm quite sure there's lots of HD2 users out there which share the same thought with me
SO... still the same thing... Is there a CURE??? desperately need it...
i have this problem, did anybody work this out?

[Q] contacts emergency

The screen on my Samsung Focus no longer works however the rest of the phone works as I am able to place calls using the bluetooth in my car. However I have since picked up an HTC One X but I am at a loss on how to get to my contacts. I do not see any of my contacts on the windows live ID I used to set up the phone nothing seems to have backed up anywhere but they are on my phone somewhere since I can place a call using name recognition in my car.
so I guess I have 2 questions.
Is there something i'm missing within the Zune software to backup the entire phone like Itunes has?
Is there a way I can access the internal storage via my computer to fish out the contacts in my phonebook?
If anyone is able to help you'd lower my blood pressure and prolong my life. Thank You.
do you have a "sim card" if so all your contacts are in it!
Had 2 different places read the sim card. They said there's nothing on it. It's the first thing I tried.
Contacts are on the phone, unless you've specified you want them back-up'd somewhere else, online. I usually use either Outlook account or Gmail to sync my contacts. The contacts on the SIM are retrieved TO the phone, not saved TO the SIM (Settings, People, Import SIM contacts).
One way I see you could backup your contacts this is to get these 2 files from the phone:
"store.vol" and "PimIndex.vol"
These contain the SMS and the contacts.
For that, mandatory reads: this thread and this thread
You could explore the phone with Touch Explorer, but depends on too many things if it will work...
Another idea is to do it "blindly" with 2 phones: yours and another Focus side-by-side and trying to copy exactly where to tap...
There might be an app on Marketplace that backups automatically on skydrive. But you'd have to search for such.
Good luck mate.
