Is this the Messenger only ? Or is this the complete Live package which also has a plugin on the Todayscreen...?
And does it still mix the MSN contacts with the Outlook ones ? (ie. double entries)

Complete Package with today plugin.
It sync the contacts

Hi delivery1979,
just a simple question: is it better to install it in the phone mem or it works fine in sd card also ?
Thank you in advance ,
M
p.s. I solve my doubt: the program didn't ask me anything. thanks, M.

As a general rule, install all applications that "attach" themself to the OS(like today-plugins, fix', theme-managers etc and everything else that is loaded automaticly when booting up) to the phone, and everything else(games, GPS, ++) to the storagecard... That way, you won't get errors if you take out/loose/break the SD-card

it does not work on my wm6 device

Don' work too on my lastest HTC rom FRA with GPS.
:-(

what kind of problems you have?

LIve Messanger sucks because it syncronize with the name on your Contact folder so you will have a lot of MSN ID in the contact folder... And if you try to delete the new add on contacts folder you loose it on MSN too

THe cab don't install on the PDA :-(

Its working on my Trinity WM5 with new official GPS enabled ROM. But it has messed up my contatcs with adding all msn IDs there. Now I have deleted those from my contacts but fearing signing in again into Live Messenger on trinity, in case I loose all IDs in messenger as well.
The other problem is, I can only sign in if I am using WiFi to connect to internet, but it doesn't sign in if I use GPRS/3G data connection of the network provider. WHY ????

on mine its sign in with both gprs and wifi when my wifi is on

For other drives they can't connect by using Wifi like p535. I don't know why.

Did this earlier on.
Deleted all the extra contacts on my ppc.
Went onto my desktop, signed into MSN and all my contacts were gone.
I have to ask how stupid are these people who design this crap?

Had the same thing happen to me. Now that I deleleted contacts from trinity they are gone from my messenger live on my pc. This is gay.. So now how do I add them back, resend invitations?

How exactly do you install it. Once unpacked I just have a folder with a lot of files, but how do I install it as a .cap-file?

i have the same problem whit contacts, someone have a solution ?

Isn't there an earlier version which doesn't merge the contacts, cuz this sucks BAD!
F-ing Microsoft idiots

The trick seems to be that once you've synced all contacts to the desktop, you start merging the rest of the contactinfo of existing contacts to their MSN-counterparts, so you get an 'MSN-enabled' contact. After that you delete the old version of that contact and you should be fine...
But then again; i've got that from hear-say... so don't blame me if this doesn't work (i still don't dare usin' the new Live Messenger myself)

Using Hotmail

What is the best way to set a Hotmail account through Inbox ?
I installed Pocket Hotmail but, after I create a new account in Inbox using Hotmail, this account does not show up with the other Accounts.
Moreover, if I go to my Hotmail account using PIE (msn.com), I can read my received messages but NOT the attachments, whether they are standard pictures or Word documents or whatever.
Any clue ?
Try installing the Windows Mobile 2003 patch.
Its available at: http://www.frieger.com/photmail/wm2003.html

Sorry to hear that, I guess its still not ready then. Maybe you'll have better
luck when the full version is released.
Try the New version 2.5 Beta
Hello
give their New version 2.5 Beta a try it might do the job http://www.frieger.com/photmail/beta.html
regards.
Othman
I tried the both V2.2 with the WM2003 patch and V2.5 beta and no luck
No luck for me, either!
In the previous version, after creating the account, I couldn't find it.
With this latest beta version, I found the account I created, but the inbox showed empty (although, actually, it was not).
Ok found another Hotmail program called HTTPMail ($5.00 to buy) by Adrian Software and its working great on my WM2003 upgraded XDA I. So can somebody give it a try on their XDA II and report your results.
HTTPMail can be found at:

You've lost me on the dialing, confirming you're connecting via GPRS, right?
If so why are you using (2) different connections?
no Gprs
I use internet trough a dail-up connection
and i retrieve e-mails trough a pop3 server (work)
And now i want to have one e-mail account calling work, and the other internet
Dailing problems solved
Ok solved the dialing problem
So it is calling internet, but now some other problems, like not known protocoll.

Strange, confirming that you have hotmail set as your "Domain" in your Inbox settings and "HTTP" selected as your Account Type?
If so try doing a soft reset and see if that helps!

Qman thanks. Finally a good solution that works
Hiya,
Ive just purchased HTTPMail and got it working nicely on my xda2 over a bluetooth connection. The only thing that isn't working is the sub folders. It downloads the folder names but none of the content.

Thats good news on the bluetooth connection, thanks!
BTW just checked my online sub-folders and they're empty too, so go figure!
But here's a long-shot, while at your Hotmail Inbox, go to Tools, Manage Folders and check the folder that you want synchronized. Let use know how this works out!
Also it would be nice if you deleted your duplicated postings, it appears that your send key may have got stuck!

Windows live mobile beta problem

Hi everyone,
I have recently installed the Windows Live Mobile, it was working perfectly but now it seems that there is a problem with the 'synchronise'.
When I click the synchronise option, the email can be synchronised, but not the Contacts & Email. It always fails. also, when you open the Messenger, it always no contacts online, but actually there are.
Anyone has any ideas of this?
Thx in advance...
The online contacts appear after ~ 10-20 sec. As for the sync, I do not know.
I have the same email sync problem. I figured it's because my perticipation is still pending for the offical beta enrolment. I downloaded the file from another source so I thought it maybe there server seeing that I'm not part of the beta program yet. Are you part of the beta program or did you do like me and get it from the forums?
My only compaint about this version is they still didn't fix the issue that when you sign in to messenger the first time it adds all your MSN Messenger contacts to your address book, which they are already there so now there are duplicates. I have there full contact card with all there details and now a second one that just has there email and messenger name. It should be smart enough to see that that email addresss and IM name already exist in my address book and link to it instead of creating another one.
Yeah I got the messenger from the froum also.
I have tried to login the Windows live mobile using another ID, it works fine, but just not mine.
I dont know...
I don't like how WLM mobile takes all your messenger contacts and automatically puts them into your 'contacts' on the phone, which ends up in my contacts folder in Outlook. That's horrible, I don't want the two mixed up and now I have no choice, mix them up, or don't use it?
Go delete them from my contacts folder in outlook, that deletes them from my messenger contacts as well!!
Pocket MSN never forced your messenger contacts to be placed or synced into your 'contacts'.
I got that problem too

My messenger contacts suddenly appeared as offline. Strange. No reboot or relogon could fix it. They could IM me but I could not contact them. I suspect that this has to do with the beta, maybe they simply block old betas to force the legitimate beta testers to use the latest version.
Hi guys,
Can someone point me in the direction of this download? I registered with MS Connect but havent had anything back from them yet.
WLM works well on my N91 but i dont have it on my TYTN
Thanks

Doubt you'll hear anything from them, I registered a few months ago and for some reason their registration system was TOTALLY cocked up, so I ended up with a mangled registration and they point blank refused to offer me any useful help.
So now I can log into MS Connect, but I can't see the right live beta tests to join them properly... It sucks. Guess I'll just have to wait on this one.
is the latest WLM on the FTP i couldn't find it? can somebody mirror it somewhere?

Live Messenger problem

I have got the Touch yesterday. Everythings work finde except the windows live messenger getting some troubles.
Live messenger could not show any people in the ONLINE list after first time logon. I 've reconfigured my msn account, without any problem at first time.
but... the problem happened again. Any idea?
Yessssss, I haven the same problem : no contact and error message !!!!
There's a new version of the messenger client, linked on the hermes general forum.
The new client works fine.
@ bencassie Can you copy/paste this link please?
1st search result on google for "xda developers new messenger" and you get a post with this link -

What's the lastest build of WLM?
My Touch comes with 10.6.0026.2700... getting "None online" problem.
Can anyone provide a .cab file? (I don't have any windows installed)

Are you guys have a Chinese TOUCH?
I had no problem with Windows Live.
If you have an English TOUCH,
I had no problem with Windows Live either.
Now, if you have an English WM6 but loaded a Chinese OS on it, then it may or may not work (mine didn't) with Windows Live.
Windows CE just like its damn older sibling Windows, applications can run into conflicts; PAIN in the rear end.
I own a Dutch Elf, and the problem occurs here as well :-( No errors or anything, just no-one online. They can message you though, but you appear offline in their contact lists :-\
Edit:
Just installed the newer version of WLM, and now its working great
Can someone post the link for the latest WLM? The one I have on Touch is 10.6.0028.2700

If your touchs' MSN Messenger has problem showing online contacts, this version can fix it
Does this version install over the old one thus taking no extra storage space?
Yes, it will install over the existing but it seems that it does take more memory space...
No update necessary
I've found out that deleting your password in windows Live and login in Windows Live with another account and accepting the license thingies again it works like a charm. (long sentence, lazy today)
WLM Build 1400.CAB
When im trying to install this,
Im getting a error, about: you dont have the rights too install this blabla
Anyone knows what to do know ?
I have a french HTC touch and the problem is the same. the only way to be really connected is to configure the connexion on each time.
If i only ask him to connecte the touch seems to be connected but is not.

About Live messenger WM6, pls help!!!

hi,
When i tried to sign in the messenger, it warned me that my MSN contact list will be added to my phone list which is the last thing I want to happen in this world.
Is there any way i can use live msn without messing up my phone contacts?
Pls advise.
Mark
Yeah, I didn't want that to happen either so I just installed the older version of MSN and was able to stay clear of those issues.

Be carefull with that! I just did the same on my Trinity running the official Dopod WM6 ROM (SEA), and guess what...: after reboot i entered my device-PIN (NOT the SIM-PIN!) and it said 'wrong password'
Had to hard-reset...
I dunno what exactly caused it, but i DO know that before PocketMSN, and after rebuilding my device without it, i have no issues at all...
I decided to leave MSN untouched in any way (i didn't really use it that much anyway)...

Thanks for the heads up.
I was running the 'Official' Dopod ROM but I removed it and flashed back to AX3L's ROM because all of the bugs I encountered with Dopod's ROM.
Using AX3L's ROM, I have not have any issues with MSN like this, but I will look out.

If you open Windows Live and go into the options, you can configure the sync settings.
Options are...
Select what you want to sync on your device:
Contacts and Messenger
Merge Duplicates with Outlook
e-mail
This will prevent your messenger contacts merging with your outlook ones.

I cannot seem to log in to windows live or messenger. Help!
I don't know if anyone has found a long term viable solution to this problem yet, but I have a workaround that some of you might be interested in adopting.
Step 0 (Prerequisite): Please make sure that all your contacts on your phone have the their Messenger email addresses in the "IM Address" field on the phone (or in outlook).
Step 1: Sign in to Live ID and merge all contacts with Outlook.
Step 2: Go to "contacts on the phone and file all contacts as "First_Name Last_Name", to allow at a glance comparision.
Step 3: Open Messenger on your computer desktop and disable "Receive contact updates" for ALL contacts.
Step 4: Manually Edit the contact information for all duplicate contacts on phone and remove EVERYTHING except the nickname from the contact in Messenger on the computer
Step 5: Switch Windows Live ID on the Phone and sign in again. Merge contacts and they should be fixed. If not, repeat process for recurring contacts by clearing all information from Messenger on your computer desktop.
CAVEAT: Do NOT delete messenger contacts from your phone or your computer in an attempt to fix this problem.
NB: This procedure does not seem to work for Non MSN (Read Yahoo) contacts on Messenger.
to solve the problem on ppc you need to upgrade your live messenger by using thi one wich i fixed

Anyway, I once had a sync problem with windows live and was unable to fix it. Seems that it´s a bug in the program so I had to dump everyting and start all over with a fresh install!
Thanks for the reply. I had to delete the account and re-install it. The crazy thing is that it shows a few names in the contacts list of MSN IM until I delete and reinstall...TJ
Sounds like ur sorted, thought I would post this anyway.
Found it on www.htc.com, only thing is you must register to be able to access this link. You can do that without a device S/N though.
