Redirecting TRINITY sound to handsfree - P3600 General

After reading very long threads about this issue, many changes in the registry and some full pda restores, I haven´t found the way to redirect all the sounds to the handsfree in my TRINITY.
Has anyone managed to make BTAudio or any other program work with a Trinity?

I think that as long as the handsfree headset you use supports the A2DP profile then all audio is redirected to it without the need for any registry hack. At least that's my experience with my SonyEricsson stereo BT headset.

2 Types of Redirect
One is with A2DP where the bt device is compliance to it. I do not have one but I believe it will work fine.
Another way which I am using is via the Handsfree Voice Command channel. When a voice command software(Such as Cyberon Voice Speed Dial) is installed and when the recognition is triggered(usually by a button on headset), all audio is redirected to the the headset.
So the trick is to keep this redirection longer.
This is can achieved by changing two registry settings.
- Change the duration to something longer, like FFFF.
- Invalidate the voice command software execution.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand]
"VoiceCmdDuration"=dword:FFFF
"Path"="\WINDOWS\invalid_sddialer.exe"
With that, I have lost Voice command via my headset but I hardly do VC at all, and if needed, I had associated one of the button on my dopod to launch VC but I need to speak into the phone instead.
Not sure if this is the best way but it's the only way I know of untill I figure out other.
FYI, I'm currently using Dopod D810 with lvsw ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299771) and a Motorolla H700.

Hello,
I agree with this.
I had not been able to get the Trinity to redirect audio to a sony HBH-IV835 heandfree device.
Since I've change for a Sony DR-BT20NX headset with AD2P profile it's working like a charm. No more registry hack or software needed.
Then registry hack only concern improvement of audio quality (bitpool and so on).
Sadly i'm not able to use real stereo (replace the use of joint stereo) because it's generationg a slight annoying hiss sound.

Is this still the status, also with WM6?
I can't believe it's not possible to redirect some kind of way like I've been reading in the Tornado treads.

Yeah, I'm also can't redirect all sound to my headset (Plantronics Pulsar P590) by one click or by launch some program. Every time I need launch BT Settings, open Devices tab, tap'n hold on "590Plantronics", and select "Set as hands-free" or "Set as Wireless audio".
Can't find other ways to do it - no registry hacks, no other...

Does this help maybe?

I did not test it yet...

No, it doesn;t work too... All discussed programs (BTARouter, BTAudioNav, BTAudioToggle) are just redirect phone calls to the my headset. No audio output at all (headset icon doesn't appear).

Just found this:

Anyone try it on Trinity? Its a new program to me.

I just tried it. Didn't work. I could hear it activating the speaker on the headset as I launched the app (soft hiss) but it didn't re-direct any audio. Voice calls only through the headset (which is the same as without the app installed). I guess it really only works for smartphones.
The registry hack worked for me but I need voice command so it's not really a permanent fix for me.
I'd be quite happy to buy a new headset too but I don't want something bulky or with wires everywhere like all the stereo ones on the market. The single ear clip on ones are just so quick and easy to use...

I saw a lot of different registry hack around here..
The one thath works on p3600 is?
I've tried a lot of but no one works.
I dont't need voice dial so it can be good.
I use my p3600 with a BT Helmet.. so I'd like to listen to tom tom inside..
thanks a lot.

Hi
I have the p3600 and a sony mex-bt 2500 and i can redirect all audio to the carcit but i have to connect with the audio (A2DP)conection and not the headset conection so you'r divice has to have the A2DP profile to work.

Still no solution?
Hi you all,
is there still no solution for the Trinity?
I am actually experiencing the skipping problem, but I would be half-glad if I could redirect audio in mono to the headset.
Please advise!

Get headset that supports A2DP profile and it works fine. I have Plantronics Voyager 855 stereo, and it works flawlessly in mono or stereo mode with modifying any registry hacks. Music sounds awesome too with this headset, just like my bose earbud phones.

MP3 via BlueTooth

I need to listen to MP3s throught the bluetooth headset.
I don't need a good sound quality - it's just for speech.
I just want to play that MP3 continuously (again and again) so I'd be able to put on paper as much as possible.
So is there a way to play a MP3 (or any other sound format) using the BT headset?
i think it require a bluetooth profile which the xda2 dont currently support
I use a SouthWing BT headset, bought on Ebay.co.uk for around £35.
It supports both the BT handsfree and headset profile, which the XDA2 supports too.
I can listen to MP3's or use it to take or make calls. You should be able to use any BT headset that supports the headset profile, most only support the handsfree mode.
MP3s through Bluetooth
I have a Plantronics M3000 headset when I bonded it with my XDA II I selected the option for the headset profile from BT Tools. When I switch on the headset mode from the Today Screen I get a bleep on the headset but no audio is transferred to the headset it still comes out of the speaker. Do I need to tweak any other settings?
Im guessing that the Plantronics is not fully compatable with the headset profile.
Thanks for any help.

OK. Where can I get the required BT profile? Does the Widcomm driver have it?
It normally works on my PC - I can listen to all sounds form PC throught the BT dongle and BT headset. So it's just a question of driver. Where can I get it for my XDA2?

Can u provide more details please? I couldn't find your mentioned headset from Ebay.co.uk
This ie the companies web site - http://www.south-wing.com/
When I was setting up the pairing on my XDAII it recognised the earpiece as having the headset protocol and asked if i wanted to connect using the headset profile or the handsfree profile, I chose the headset one. It still works perfectly as a handsfree earpiece but also allows me to listen to anything played with the windows media player, which i use for MP3's.
It also works with a PC using a bluetooth dongle, I use it as a handsfree phone for my home phone.
how does it handle music ?
i mean does it play one channel of the stereo
or does it play joind mono ?
to me listening to music with 1 ear is pretty useless
can you please also elaborate which rom version ? pocket BT tools installed or not? which BT stack?
the headset and handsfree profile are supported by MOST BT headsets
my jabra 250 suppprts both profiles, but I am never able to channel windows media output through the BT headset ((
so any info would be very insghtful

I think you must be the only person on the planet that has mp3 working through bluetooth without any patches/hacks/etc, can you please elaborate more because it doesnt work for anybody else.
I am using a Plantronics M1000 (M1500) with iMate 1.52.00WWE.
With Pocket Bluetooth Tools I can use it for Phone calls but not MP3.
Annoyances are -
1. I can't initiate dialling from teh Headset unless I dial from the phone and then hangup (even if BT permanently on).
2. If I leave BT permanently on the Headset battery goes flat very quickly in standby.
3. If a Call comes in on Call Waiting, the call transfers to the phone and I can't get it back to the Headset

Bluetooth/XDA 11 Integration

Yesterday, I tried w/ Kai's Bluetooth Headset patch
I've found that it doesn't work with XDAII.
So, I'm still waiting for the new patch.
Besides, does anyone know what Tobias, Pocket Tools developer, is doing?
I've sent emails to him serveral timee But there is no reply. His website also stop progressing as well.
Headset Profile
So, the XDA 2 does not have the profile that allows MP3's to be played through a headset. But does anyone know a profile that allows voice dialing from the headset? South-Wing has voice dialing from the headset but captin is the only person i know who has it working on the XDA 2. Anyone got any suggestions?

Unfortunately, it's not as simple as just a profile. Since a third party voice dialing software has to be manually added to the XDA II (its not built in), the headset would have no way of knowing which application to "activate" when the headset button was pressed. The only way I see this happening is, if someone can hack the bluetooth stack to detect a headset button press, then route the command to a voice dial software installed on the XDA II. Ideally, the dll would have an interface that would allow you to select the application you want executed when the bluetooth headset button is pressed.
Rumor has it that the iPaq 6300 won't have voice activated dialing either - and it will have the best bluetooth software stack around, the Widcomm stack. If it won't support it, I wouldn't have much hope for the XDA II unless some hacker decides to give it a try. But it sounds like a lot of work.
Reply from South Wing
I sent a email to South Wing about compatibility with the XDA 2 and i got this reply
The XDA II does not support the Bluetooth hands-free profile which is used by the NeoVoice USB headset and gives access to the various hands-free mode features of the device.
However, it supports the headset profile also supported by the NeoVoice USB. This means you can make and receive calls perfectly and use functions of the headset like voice dialing.
Overall, without the hands-free mode capability, the features you would miss on are only the following ones: rejecting a call, transferring a call to the phone, last number redialing and disconnecting from the phone.
The headset is available online from expansys.com (type NeoVoice in the search box) where you may acquire the USB cable and car charger for little more.
There you have it from the horses mouth, hope this is some help

Hmmm. Interesting. But I still don't see how voice dialing can be supported through the headset. Again, the XDA II has no built in voice dialing software, so there's nothing to standardize on. Therefore, your only option is a third party dialing app. So, if you were to install something like Microsoft's Voice Dial, the headset would have no way of knowing that it needs to call the Microsoft Voice Dial EXE when you press the headset button. Other bluetooth phones that do support voice dial can use headsets that, when you press the headset button, can call standard API's that initiate the voice dialing capability on the phone. The XDA II does not have this standard API set.
Anyway, I'm still more interested in pushing standard sound like MP3's and audio books through the BT headset. But the voice dialing stuff is interesting nonetheless.

Skype (or musik) through bluetooth - it works

go to hklm\software\oem\voicecommand and set the value of "launchapenable" from 1 to 0
when activating voicedial from your headset (press connect button at the headset 2 sec.) it diverts all audio to the bluetooth.
works also with musik.
pressing the button again it disconnects the bluetooth and the main speakers are active again.
in this case the original voice dial does not work anymore until you change the value back to 1.
for me a good solution because i don't use voice dial and prefer insted skype and headset.
Very good tip...will try that!
Cheers...!
Works on QTEK S100 with Jabra Bt 250 Headsets?
Do you happen to know if the BT specification of the EXEC allows it to transmit stereo audio? Say from a mediaplayer to a BT car kit?
If so, that would send me over the edge and Id have to buy a BT carkit!
...ohh, on 2nd thoughts, it would also depend on the bandwidth too. Anyone know what sort of frequency range BT stereo may be limited to?
for stereo output is another reg.hack needed i think. because pushing the voicedial button at the handset it activates the bluetooth headset profile for listening to the voice but voicedial doesnt start. so you can use it for normal micro and loudspeaker.
maybe anybody knows how to activate in this case the "high quality audio profile" by editing the registry instead of "headset profile"?
Great job, The sound (in music) is good ? i tested this but the sound wasnt good.... I think my headset isnt good for music.
yes it depends on the bluetooth profile. for good quality "high quality audio" (A2DP) profile is needed.

Works -but not great
very tinny muffled sound on my moto HT 820, was hoping it would work as well as the bluetooth stack update for the magician.
Sound does come out in both ears on my stereo phones. but I dont desire to listern to the tinny sound.
Still great find and discovery. Just hope someone can progress it to A2DP asap.
sorry, but can anybody tell me how to edit the registry in WM5? I never did it before. What tool do you guys use? Is it something free?
Thanks.
I used PHMREGedit
Here's the link:
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/phmregistryeditor.shtml
andyes....it's free.
Tried it with my BT200
I know the registry works....but cannot get it to play on the headset.
It works...becos upon pressing the phone button on the head set for 2 sec, the audio comes from the handset. On redoing it again, the audio goes off from the handset.
Mine is working fine. I really like the way its now.
Thanks a lot.
Ooops....
my Bt200 wasn't working. That's why there was no audio coming from it.
Need to figure out why there is no audio coming from the headset.
Sigh another problem!
So basically, the registry works.
Im using Total Voice COmmander and it works with WMP.. No need to install another software to play music thru BT.
I just press my Jabra headset twice and it goes "Say Command".. then I say "Play a music"..
Sometimes it's stubborn and Calls someone or Says "Today you have no Appointment" but I guess with a lot of practice, my Dopod understood what Im saying and played me a song.. Now, Im having trouble with my Dopod catching the title of the song i want it to play. I've placed voice tags on the songs and 50% of the time, my dopod got it right.. got to work on the other 50% though..

Bluetooth Audio Gateway, next attempt

The btagsvc.dll on the Universal does exist, but it is empty (same with the HID dll). So that may be the reason why Audio Gateway is not working (getting the system sound forwarded to the BT headset).
Now, a friend showed me an interesting trick. Run a music file or any other program that outputs sound (like a navigation instruction from TomTom) and then press the Speed Voice Dial button.
Interesting, isn't it? So maybe all we need to do is prevent SpeedVoiceDial from exiting again?

If you're talking about the M$ stack on the Universal, then you'll have to elucidate a bit more than that - unless you mean:
"The A2DP profile is introduced in AKU 2.0 of Windows Mobile".
But then isn't that scheduled for first quarter 2006. Even then, surely it's down to HTC to make it available for the badging suppliers, o2, T-mobile, etc., to decide IF and WHEN to issue the update.
I tried the LaunchAPEnable = 0 registry hack but it won't stick. My Jabra 110 headset would only receive the audio for a few seconds and then it would all fall back into the Xda Exec. I'll try another headset just to be sure but I'd have to agree - this seems far from being solved.
EDIT: indeed it works with another headset (Solteras Halo). Is the Jabra too agressive in it's power saving quest?
nice to see its doing you head in master   the jabra bt250 is the same as is my logtech and motorola bluespoon 3-4 secs via voice dial and nothing

I've been using a bluetooth headset (Jabra BT-800) to listen to audio books just fine on the JarJar Universal. There are two ways (so far) to get it to work. One, if you install Microsoft Voice Command and use the registry hack found in this forum to make it the default via the Voice Dial button, run it, then let it cancel on its own, the BT audio connection stays intact for running regular audio through it.
The second (and free) way is to use a utility found in the I730 forum in pdaphonehome.com called BTAudioToggle. Written for the I730, it works on the Universal too. I imagine it will work on all the flavors of the Universal. Connecting your BT headset, followed by running this BT app will also activate the BT audio connection. Its pretty rock solid though its mono, not A2DP
Nice application but it only works for Universal for a few seconds. Then it returns to the device with the voice dial application activated.....
So, it seems that I have to disable the voice dial application. Anyone knows how????
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
I tried the BTAudioToggle on the Xda Exec, and it doesn't seem to do anything .
@chris_khho: try a different headset. As I wrote the Solteras Halo was working fine with the registry hack but the Jabra 110 would only work for a few seconds. I'll need to check what profiles each of them suports.
RE
Hi!
BTAudioTogggle works on my QTEK 9000 for a few seconds when Voice Speed Dial is activated. Once Voice Speed Dial ends the music transfer stops
Mine works fine and I've played my audio books for more than an hour and it never dropped. I'm not sure why it doesn't work for you guys. Maybe the reason the BTAudio hack works is because the MS Voice Command setup is installed and the BTAudio hack just makes use of it.
You know, now that I think of it, I have an I730 too and before the BTAudio hack came out, I was already using MS Voice Command to activate audio over BT. I think there's a (good) bug in Voice Command where VC does not release the audio stream if you activate it, then don't give it any commands. The BTAudio hack just made it easier to activate.
OK I see.
I tried this:
hklm\software\oem\voicecommand and set the value of "launchapenable" from 1 to 0
And it works with my i-tech clip s and jabra 258 (not sure the model no.), and WMP but it doesnt revert to BT headset after finished call....
Yes it is "mono" but its good though....just wait for AD2P..... Many people are working on it I think.....
Great People Great Work!!!!

Bluetooth Mono Headset + Redirect sound to it

Hi,
I been trying the BtAudioNav to redirect sound to my bluetooth hands-free but it doesn't work on my Trinity.
Anyone has try it with success?
Most mono-headsets do not support the A2DP profile.... so it is to be expected that this doesn't work for music and stuff...
However, i had it working once on my old Fujitsu Loox 600...can't remember how i did that though, but it has a different BT stack anyway...
Or do you just mean the phone-calls being redirected does not work ? Please try to be a bit more specific
Phone-calls works but for example redirect sound from GPS soft to headset not!!. With BtAudioNav should works but with my Trinity not.
Not all phones are capable of directing all audio to the mono bluetooth headset using the handsfree/headset audio gateway profile. Many of them are designed to ONLY stream voice calls. I'm not sure if this is due to the hardware or software (possibly a combination?), but some phones are capable of streaming/redirecting all audio entirely (as well as mic input) to the mono headset. I guess the Trinity doesn't. I've only heard of a few phones that actually work with that BT audio utility you're using, and they seem to be mostly older models, but that's just a guess. Anyway, perhaps there's a way to redirect all audio through the stereo bluetooth profile instead?
1. Copy the folder BTAudio and its contents to \Program Files
2. Using a registry editor amend the following entries from:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand
Path = \Program Files\BTAudio\BTAudioOn.Exe
VoiceCmdDuration = 86400 (DEC) = 24 hours
3. Softreset

after a day of frantic search & many failed softwares, this one did the trick. 'qyach'.....many thanks for this.
now my Jasjar & Jabra work perfectly with TCPMP & Skype. Voice command continues to work from the Jasjar mic.
I couldn't ask for more.
THANK U ONCE AGAIN !!!
Tried VJVolubilis, Bluemusic and BTAudio (with both of the 2 registry hacks referred to in this thread). None of them worked on my Trinity. Would very much appreciate someone shed more light on this issue.

Hi,
I got the Motorola T305 to connect to my TyTN and the audio gateway routed to the T305. Everything sounds great but I get this annoying beep once every 5 seconds. Does anybody know how to get rid of it?
Thanks,
Sean
JUST SORTED IT on my TRINITY all workin fine
Only problem is, as the article suggest it disables the voice commands!! I can live with this as I only want to stean the TOMTOM voice when using the satnav while walking or on my bike.
What I had in mind was a a couple of icons, one to make the registry changes for the BT Audio streaming and the other icon to toggle back (ie change the registry back to voice comand via the BT headset). As far as I can see (once BTaudioOn.exe is copied to my Trinity) the only difference between turning my Jabra BT250v into an audio streaming headset and a phone headset are the two registry changes; and then change them back to give me a Phone headset again.
Can anyone tell me if this is possible to use a .REG file?
Can it be written on a PC and then copied to the Trinity so that it runs?
Will reg files run the same on a PDA and they do on a PC?
Thanks in advance

Can anyone make an app in which you can configure which feature you want?

2) Change to Voice Command
3) Change to a redirection program like BTAudio.

OK, the solution I posted does work well. However it just killed my battery life. I think that whenever the BT is paired, even in the regular mode (not streaming to the mono BT) it uses the full amount of battery as if it was streaming to it. I think the battery life was even reduced without a paired headset as long as BT was not disabled.
I guess I am still looking for a better solution too.

After editing, VoiceCommand function is LOST .
All sounds will be re-directed to the blutetooth headset when you press the button(voice dial) on the headset.

Possible to send all audio over bluetooth?

I've spent days searching and trying all sorts of tweaks but I can't get anything to work. Can anyone PLEASE help!
I use Tomtom 7 and I've always sent the voice instructions to the bluetooth speaker in my bike helmet (just a handsfree paired item). I've previously done this on HTC devices with BTAudio and a one line registry tweak. Can anyone offer a solution to send all the audio to a bluetooth handsfree on the HD2?
I really hope someone can help, I've got the HD2 setup just right except for this last remaining item.
Many thanks,
i have the same problem...
@noony i think u have already enabled in bt setting the option "manage system audio in handsfree device" if u didnt...try that
for me doesnt work maybe its a headphone problem i see a sort of "fhhh" when any sound is played on phone but still come out from the speeker
another issue... every time i start a call with bt the volume is at the lower level..internal and headphone too! and the last is very strange because with my artemis didnt do

Yes I've tried the "manage system audio in handsfree device" option. I can get some background noise on the headsets (I'm trying with a Scala Rider and Motorola 700 & 850) but I never manage to get any sound.
Can anyone please offer a solution? It's a big disappointment for me if this isn't possible. Any suggestions welcome, many thanks.
My Observations
I pared it with my BMW and for the life of me cant ger any audio (music) over bluetooth ( the phone works fine) I then tried it on a $20 bluetooth earpiece I ocassionally use for the phone and guess what I can play music over it fine.
I tried and tried again in the car but could not get it to work.
I think some bluetooth devices will not work. Is there a different specifiaation for bluetooth ir BT1 and BT2 ??
I havent checked into this yet.....

It gives me some hope that you've got it to work with one bluetooth device. Can you please let me know exactly what you did to get the $20 bluetooth earpiece to work?
Thanks,
yeah that was my idea but without a stereo bt device i cant try to myself...i ordered to vodafone one with some of my tons of points...3 weeks and no answer!
I had the same issue and on my old phone, the HTC Touch HD, I used the following program to my satisfaction:
BTAudio
On my HTC HD2 however this doesn't seem to work anymore. :-(
it does the same thing of the inbuild bt option on hd2 its just a "quick link" to place on the bar
anyone of u have any problem with bt device volume? before i have an Artemis and 3 different device i used the device volume was every time the one i choose...now every time a new call starts phone volume its right but device volume jump to minimum level and every time i have to press + button like as i'm playing videopoker to dont miss fist seconds of a conversation
Works fine with Jabra 3030, all audio over it, music, system sounds and calls.
Maybe it's only working for bluetooth devices that are setup as stereo. Can anyone please offer a solution here?
I've installed a 6.5 rom (dutty v7 - thank you) on my HD and after a sprite restore (level 2) bluetooth audio divert works fine. Although I notived that the bluetooth options remained the old settings (possibly due to my backup restore) and the divert was done using the BTAudio. Sorry to keep asking but if anyone can shed light on this.
Is it possible to tweak the HD2 so that audio can be sent to any bluetooth headset/handsfree or is there some hardware limitation that stops this from being done?
I've tried every app and tweak that I can think of! Please can anyone help, even iof it's to let me know why this can't be done.
Thanks,
its what we all are trying to do......now i think its only a bt device problem...if it support bt2.1 and a2dp with edr seems to work all good....
i solved in car with headphone in the box...but bluetooth should be much and much better without any cable that always have to remove nodes (its the right word? sorry if not hehe)
I'm connecting to my HD2 using Jabra Stone, an A2DP headset. When I selected the stereo headset profile on the HD2, it redirected all system sounds to the headset: reminders, SMS alert, soundtrack for videos, audio player....except phone ring. I used BT Audio over a non-A2DP headset before with Diamond2, but the ausio is very poor, and the connection drops very often. Since I changed to A2DP headsets, the Diamond2 and HD2 supports it out of the box - no hack needed.
So look for A2DP headsets if you want to redirect audio.
Thank you to everyone that has helped with replies. I've now got my answer. If the bluetooth device supports A2DP then it works! (just won't work with mono etc)
I've now tested my HD2 with over a dozen bluetooth devices ALL A2DP enabled headsets regardless of if they are cheap or expensive!
Thanks again for everyone taking the time to help.
I have an LG HBM-220 bluetooth and cannot put audio to in, only phone calls!
How can i manage to do it?
I blame it on the stupid Widcomm Bluetooth stack... If the HD2 used the better MS stack, BT would play nice with with more of our periphirals and apps
I can't use MSVC properly with BT either....
the solution is to go to the bluetooth settings, select your device and connect the stereo audio connection.
Way back, Microsoft decreed that ONLY the phone app could use a mono BlueTooth headset, although any audio could be redirected to a stereo A2DP headset.
In order to get around this you need to fudge the sytem with something like BTAudio or TekSoft's BlueAudio.
The latter worked on my XDA Orbits (1 and 2) but does not work on my Touch HD with Dutty's R6 ROM (WM 6.5) possibly because BlueAudio requires the Microsoft BlueTooth stack and I suspect Dutty's ROM has the Widcomm stack. But I could be wrong about that.
BTAudio sort of works on my Touch HD, but outgoing audio is speeded up like I've been breathing Helium.
So no current solution to yet another idiotic gotcha from Microsoft.

Hmmm. When I conect via gprs to youtube aps I can hear the voice in my mono headset (jabra 2020) but via wifi and computer as modem voice is only in phone speaker. So maybe we should look gprs or youtube aps reg tweek.
Guys
i have a nokia HB-100 headset and i'm experiencing all kinds of strange behavours
sometimes system sounds including music ...etc get directed to the headset and some other time it just directs calls no matter how hard i try thru soft resets or unchecking then checking the "play system sounds ..." option!
very strange, any insights about this? is there a tweak to go with or is it a known WM defect?
