GPRS & 3G setting, important !!!!! - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo General

ok, this is a strange issue and i am not too sure about it, so correct me if i am wrong.
When i use my Universal, i use the Hack which enable my GPRS/3G always on, it works great and when phone call comes in, the dis-connect the connection and re-connect it once you finish phone call.
But with Athena, after i apply the same Hack, although the connection is always on, but you CAN'T received any phone call ! So i turn the Hack off and do some more testing. I found out when i use Opera and connect to internet (3.5 G), i can't receive phone call, but when i close the program, the connection change to 3G (instead of 3.5), then i can receive phone call again.
But notice here, the 3G is still on when i receive phone call, so it doesn't disconnect any more.
So important to remember don't use the Hack on Athena, otherwise you can't receive phone call.
Anyone can explain this?

active GPRS, calls don't come in!

I've doubled checked with different SIMs/providers,
and both 1.03 and 1.60 versions....
Going into explorer, activating GPRS, downloading a large page,
and calling my phone from another cellular, I get "no answer"
and the XDAii never rings!
Has anyone experienced this?
Any solution?
Clearly, Voice should override Data according to GPRS standard,
and it did work for me on Treo 270 and Treo 600. But not here?!
tmobile does this to me with an XDAI
tmobile does this to me with an XDAI running 2003 from yorch, the basic rom, not the tmobile version.
A little useless to have gprs on all the time if you can't get calls, no?
gprs on vs gprs active
well in my case:
GPRS is on, but no data in the last few seconds: calls get in
GPRS is on and data "active": no calls get in
So, it is a problem of being "active" and not just "on" for me.
Like I've said, two different providers (900 & 1800) and both SIMs
worked correctly in a TREO 270/600.
GPRS & Calls
In my case, running an Orange M1000 with a version 1.52 ROM, the call gets through even if I have an active mail sync running using a VPN client and GPRS.
The VPN connection however is killed, but GPRS is re-enabled once the call terminates. The VPN client apparently does not re-connect automatically as it should, but this is not an M1000/XDA II problem.
This is how it is supposed to work, I believe.

Yes, same problem here. If IE is loading a page, the calls go to voice mail. The phone does not even ring.
How can we get around this?
So it is confirmed! help!
Come on people, now I'm pretty sure this is not related to
my locale (hebrew support) and is a global problem with the XDA II.
I can't believe someone else haven't checked it yet?
It is annoying to look something up on the net only to miss a call...
Some other people, please confirm this?
load a big www page in PIE and dial your own number.
Re: So it is confirmed! help!
Ummm....
Try doing this with a P900, Nokia 6600 etc...
I think you'll find this is a 'feature' of GPRS - when GPRS is actively transferring data, the phone bit doesn't work and calls go straight to vmail.
The dual bit - voice calls + downloads - is called 3G
Strange,
when i sync my email with active sync over GPRS the incoming call goes thrue but if i download a page with IE the call gets directly to the voice mail
any ideas??
regards,
Yann
My understanding is that there is nothing you can do. If GPRS is dl'ing, most calls will go to vm.
Should not matter which phone you have.
i'm pretty sure i have seen this confirmed in the documentation for my XDAII that whilst actively browsing using GPRS you cannot receive an incoming call as its downloading data, whether it just be page data or a file download. To recieve an incoming call GPRS can be connected but not active.

it happened to me when i click on save password everything i enable gprs.
to deal with it u need to either uncheck the save password or delete your previous setting and add a new one. now this time DO NOT check on save password when connecting to gprs.
hope it helps.

Wireless Modem

One confusing problem that i want to solve: When i am connected to the Internet via the "Wireless Modem" application, then i can't receive any incoming call even it is no data transfer over the air(GPRS). Every phone is available for receiving this calls when it is no data transfer active. But my Himalaya not. The other side is ringing to me but i can't see anything. No missed call no incall..nothing. I can lose lot of important calls when i use Internet(WModem) at same time. The problem is the same also for SMS's. Is it some solution of this problem? Or is it somewhere over the net any application that can toggle the call forward to any other phone? I will be greatful for any suggestion. Thanx.

Qtek 9100 Data connection during call making and reciving

hey all i i just got the unlimited data package u get with a hiptop. its suck i had to get a hiptop just to get the data package but thats neither here nor there. well i want to know if there is a way to make the gprs stay connected when i make calls. currenty gprs stays on when i recieve a call but for some reason it gets turned off when i make the calls. i like to hav my msn always connected to the internet so i can get messages and email instantly . right now everytime i call someone i got to go and turn msn back on .
im already using the always on reg hack but like i say it gps turns off when i make calls
Can't do.
The device is not a Class "A" device - which it has to be to keep up both a voice and data connection at once.
There are no Class "A" GSM devices on the consumer market at this time - from anyone.
yeah, but it could at least re-establish the data connection after the voice connection has ended :>
msn auto reconnect
is there a hack to get man to reconnect byitself after a call uve made a call and been reconnected to gprs?

Data Connection Dropping after an amount of time

I have a sprint Mogul and on the Sprint network. I just recently got my phone last week and I had a mogul in the past. After getting my new phone from last week I flashed it with the new rom from HTC. Everything is going well but like after different amounts of time when my screen is off I turn my screen on and it shows the notification bubble saying that the data connection can not connect at this time.
I was wondering what was up with this because it has gotten really annoying that this hasn't happen in the past.
Thanks.
Is this the official Sprint 3.35 ROM, or the leak or custom ROM? Also, when you get the message about being disconnected, can you simply reconnect to Vision or do you have to soft reset?
It's the official sprint rom and yes I am able to connect back when I use an app that needs to use data.
OK so there are no errors, it just disconnects. I had this problem too when I flashed my ROM. Try the reg edit below and your Mogul should keep its data connection alive. It should only disconnect and stay disconnect if you do it manually.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections\Sprint PCS Vision
Change AlwaysOn dword to 1
Alright I will try that thanks!

Will making this registry edit prevent incoming calls coming in until you manually turn off the data?
It shouldn't. An idle data connection, when the arrows are grey as opposed to solid white, has no effect on incoming calls. With an active data connection, you can receive calls if you're on EVDO. However if you have an active 1xRTT connection then incoming calls will go to voicemail.

Wi-Fi Turns its self on during a call HELP!!!

Help
For the last week when i am on a call the wi-fi turns its self on evry time, the only thing i have done is install S2U2 on my HD2
bump!!!!!!!!!!!!
I also had this problem. Lately this problem has gone. But is is strange!
I have this problem also. Do you have push email enabled?
I also have this problem and yes, I have push email enabled. But I cannot resign from this becuase I like it. How to make not turning on the wi fi during call? It's so annoying.
well, since you can't have a cell data connection and a phone call at the same time (at least for edge, I'm not sure about 3G) the only way Activesync can stay connected during a call remains Wifi. That's why I'm guessing it is turning Wifi on. Anyway, push email/calendar is more important for me than touching Wifi toggle icon in my homescreen after a call
