dail phonenumber from appointment - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

I put appointments in mij Qtek9100 with microsoft automation
Is there a code so that the wm5 sees the number as telephone number like in contacts?
If so i want to cal the number by pressing the "hyperlink" phonenumber

I know that you can add Tel:5551212 for example in the notes field and it will create a dialing link.

Thanks,
I will try it.

I have tested it
The pocket pc create the dialing link when you put a "enter" after the tel:xxx
If i "copie "tel:xxxx" with automation is dosn't see it as a phone number.
is there a special character to end the number, or the pocketpc change is to a dialing link in his own pocketpc software ?

Dialing numbers from contacts with (0) in telephone numbers

I have lots of my contact numbers stored as numbers like +44 (0)1234 567890. However, when I try to dial it on my MDA Pro, the phone dialer complains about the '(0)'. Does anybody else have this problem and is there a solution (other than updating all of my contacts !)
Thanks
Peter
I doubt if there's an easy solution.
Non-standard phone numbers just wont dial in Windows Mobile. Looks like a conversion will be necessary. Sorry!
Paul from modaco once wrote a tool called something like outlook tools, that converted numbers with international codes etc.
See if you can find it, or complain and PM me.

MS Bug in telephone codes
I discovered this years ago that Outlook does not allow you by default to store a number in a usable format. Way back in 1999 when i was using some TAPI software to dial the number on my phone from Lotus organiser using a standard modem and a 2 way telephone jack, everything was cool.
Then when the company upgraded to exchandge server and Qutlook we lost this simple capability. We just got used to in putting all numbers in E164 format ie no leading 00 and the ful international code.
But there were lots of apps for outlook that came out for phone day in the uk when we changed to the 01 and 02 number prefixes. They just editied all of the numbers in the outlook data store. You can probably find a shareware or free ware app on www.download.com

OK, so that wasn't the answer that I wanted but I guess that I have no choice. Oh, for my Nokia phone back .....
the 0 issue
Actually you don't need to input the (0) in neither Outlook and PDA. Here is how I do this:
In desktop Outlook, always input telephone in this way: +44 (1234) 567890. (
I suppose 1234 is the area code, if no area code, plesae make sure there is a space between +44 and subsequent number)
Sync to your PDA, and when dialing direct from Contact, Although the PDA will dial +44 (1234) 567890 but actually it's still a national call as long as you are in the +44 country.
When dialing direct from desktop Outlook, it will automatically remove the +44 and add (0) in front of 1234 if you correctly setup the country code and area code in your Outlook.
All my numbers are +44 (7777) 777777 on purpose so they can be used if I'm abroad. If you have the +44, AFAIK there's no need to have a 0 anyway.

here's a same problem just from a different angle...
Sorry it's not a solution but here me out:
Topic: the mess Outlook and phone dialer phone number format made...
How do you people keep your contact's phone numbers? In which format?
I keep my PC Outlook contacts in the Windows phone dialer correct format
i.e. + [international code] [ (area code) ] [number]
when I inport/sync these contacts with my Qtel9000 I get all the contacts exactly as I entered them in Outlook but the Qtek 9000 wont dial correctly
FACTS:
fact no. 1: Outlook separates phone numbers in groups of>

fact no. 2: phone numbers entered this way are stored in a format>
+381 (064) 6185250
fact no. 2: Microsoft Phone Dialer recognises this number and dials correctly
via a voice modem... (headset or speaker/mike required)
Question: what hapens when contacts entered this way into Outlook are sunchronized with the
Pocket PC (Windows Mobile 5.0)?
Answer : all contact's numbers are entered into the Contacts list in the 'correct' format.
(the same format with the bracket, as is noted in PC Outlook)
My findings: the problem arrises when you use your mobile capable Pocket PC
(i.e. the super cool Qtek 9000) and try to dial someone on to his mobile or office phone that are on another

the Pocket PC, or Windows Mobile 'Phone dialer' dials EXACTLY

does not understand the spaces and the brackets!!! and offcourse
the mobile operator returns an error voice message that a wrong number has been dialed!
What am I to do?
Can I find/download/install a proper phone dialer (i.e. MS Phone Dialer) that comes with Windows?
Phone Dialer 1.5
Developed for Microsoft by Active Voice
http://www.activevoice.com/dialer
bottom line is that CISCO systems aquired this Phone Dialer in 2001 and Active Voice discontinued developing/supporting whit app. (link on the Active Voice site is outdated and no support on MS site, as well)
(please do not post solutions as: "you should reformat your number entries etc. because I have 800+ contacts and counting...)
P.S. what I gathered is that this is not device related it is just OS and app related. I had the same problem with my previous Nokia phone... (I did not solve. Actually I thought I will solve with this device...)
I've set the Dialing Rules with my country code and area code (Mobile etc.) So, I don't have a clue what am I doung wrong

Calling Card dialing

Has anyone found a utility or a way to automatically dial numbers using a calling card? This is a rather convenient feature in my previous (non-WM5) cell phone that allowed me to import my corporate phone numbers and then use automatic calling card to dial them without editing hundreds of entries in the phone book.
I have noticed the "Callingcard" code sample at MSDN, however, there does not seem to be a compiled binary available anywhere and I do not have the development environment available.
Any help or tips appreciated.
Ihave been using this one
It is one of the importat things for me
so I use Program called "Long Distance Dialer (Pocket PC Phone) 1.3"
it works on WM2003, WM2003SE and I am runing it right now on WM2005

Thanks! I did not realize it even runs on WM5. However, it does not see to go past dialing the access number - goes to reorder / busy tone right after. Is there a trick / fix to it?
I am using it on HTC Wizard
I never had that kind of problem
I don't know how to help you
This is my settings
Name: My card name
Acces#: my number (only numeric )
Dial Seq : PIN/Destination
Wait: 1Sec Pin : My pin
Wait 1 Sec Destination
then I go to Contacts I right click on the name I want to dial , it gives me optioon >> Dial using : then Name of my calling card .
When I click on that it gives me list of the phone numbers unther that name .
Since I call from USA I do need to select option << Add 011 before number >> but I do not do it because I added 011 to all phone numbers that I call with the card , in the Contacts
I hope this will help.
Good luck

I installed Long Distance Dialer 1.5 on my PPC. I like it so much that I want to register ($4.99). However 1.5 cannot be purchased anywhere anymore. Did anyone manage to purchase a registration key for 1.5? Or alternatively are 1.3 registration keys inter-changeable with 1.5?
This seems like a great piece of software, but it won't seem to accept pins less than 4 numbers. I have all my number listed with the country code first, so I need to add 00 to call them. In the past, I've configured my calling card feature to use 00 as the pin, which works great, but I can't get this to do it and I don't want to manually add 00 to all my numbers!
Many thanks for any help,
Paul
The link is to version 1.3. What you need is version 1.5. A quick Google will give you two or three sources.
1.5 has no limitations, but has an annoying trial notice pop-up each time you use it. Where can I purchase a registration key?
Thanks for the reply. I've downloaded v1.5, but it still won't let me enter a pin of less than 4 digits. Any thoughts?
Many thanks,
Paul
Solved the problem. In v1.5 you can put spaces as well, so, even though it needs at least 4 characters, I can put two spaces and then the two zeros.
Best,
P
Interesting - I was trying to solve my problem with the software dialing only the calling card access number. I defined an address book entry with the whole number with pauses - and still only the access number gets dialed. The card I use follows the "Number followed by PIN" model with a second dial tone after you dial the access number and a third one after the called number. Any ideas what could be causing the issue? Could it be that the Wizard does not recognize that the call has been completed after it dials the access number?
free and the best calling card dialing software
this is reply to betstu2004 request i.e compiled binary from msdn betstu2004 mentioned about
its in cab format and is attached for downloading.
here is the procedure for installing and using it:
1)copy the cab file in ppc and install it
2)then using any registry editor we have to edit the values of number to be dialled and the pin number of the calling card,to do that
open registry editor
go to:
hkey_current_user
then software
then microsoft
then calling card
in this option you have to edit two entries
1st is Number which is your calling card number
2nd is Pin which is your pin number
save the changes
then to use the software
go to contacts
then
with stylus touch and hold the contact(international) you want to dial
you will see an option
call mobile using calling card
click it
and ppc will start dialling using calling card software with stored calling card number and pin
once the card is finished you can input the values of number if different from previous one and pin again
in some cases the new number and pin will only be saved in the registry after soft reseting the phone
you can even adjust the pause time which is 2 sec by default
this software is working perfectly on my xda exec and i hope you all will love it
cheers
My email to the author (VSOFTCODE) of LDD bounced. Looks like I will have to remove it after the trial expires.
Edit: I just managed to purchase a licence through Handango after all.

Thanks works fine!!
chaniana - BIG thanks - it works flowlessly.
Now - if I could only get it to dial the number before the PIN!
reg key
Well I know this is not a warez site but
would it be wrong if I give out the reg code ??
I think not ,because the software no longer supported by the developer.
what you think ???
One more thing !!
I have Version 1.3 which I bought from www.pockeatgear.com
where did you find v1.5 ???
Let me know
DNO
this is cool....
chaniana , i have been looking for something like this for a while... i have 2003 not 2005 to be able to complie or change this...
I am just migrating form treo 650 and am missing a program TakePhone. what it did it let me create rule
e.g. any number starting with a string it will use a calling card so i could set +44 use a calling card x
that way when i disl a number it will intercept the call an see the first few digits, if +44 it will dialthe calling card and wait for me to hit a button to enter a pin then eait for another button to dial the number, all in a few strokes i was dialing international and never had to change my contacts. when i was there in UK all i do is disabke the rule and voila i am in business...
see if u can do this
i did something similar in VS2003 creating from scratch an app that would list the contacts and i enter a ph and pin in 2 seperate textboxes and hit dial, got it to make a call to the 1800# but could not figure out how to dial the rest automatically so i am stuck
Long Distance Dialer 1.5 at handango.com.
Just pay the 5 bucks, it may inspire others to create affordable useful software!
This software doesn't work with PocketInformant. Any solution ?
I installed Long Distance Dialer 1.5 (Trial), entered Calling card (access#, PIN)
I can see new menu item when I right click "contact", but when I select "Dial CCard" NOTHING happe! No call started.
I'm using Wizard.
Hi
I am not able to see any context menu once I tried using by stylus
I am on WM6.1
Is it still usable
cheers

phone number display problem and dialing numbers with extensions

Hi All,
Great site!!
I have 2 questions:
1 - When I use smart dialing from my hermes I use the direction arrows once I have found the contact and choose the work number of a contact that has an extension as +1 (999) 999-9999 x 9999 I then get a dialog saying "Invalid entry, please try again."
This same entry dials fine from speed dial or dialing from contacts, any suggestions, it's a real pain to manually dial the whole number.
2 - I have my numbers in outlook 2003 and they are formatted with the +country code format, so all numbers have a + in front of them.
When I smart dial, I can't see the last number of the phone number it only shows
+1 (xxx) xxx-xxx
Again it's really annoying as the only way I can find the number is by dialing and I usually use the smart dial to find a phone number when I am looking for someone's phone number.
BTW I have tried to edit the number and remove the + but outlook put's it back. This is actually good when travelling.
Thanks in advance,
I apologise in advance if this information is somewhere on the site, I am not lazy and I did read quite a bit before posting.
ROM version: 2.15.502.3
WM5
on my outlook, I have the phone num , ext and the phone will dial and wait for pickup before dialing the ext.
of course, i am not using the country code feature, so...
I would be happy with that behavior.
If I could change the font to be smaller in the phone application at least I could see the whole number.
Thanks for sharing.

[search] DTMF dialer

I think i saw a program here wich was able to work as a DTMF dialer, but i´m not shure.
I need a program wich can generate the dtmf-tones from my outlook contacs and add some special number in front of them.
My problem: here at work we only have dect-phones with a storage for 20 numbers. I have all numbers im my private phone so i´d like to have my private phone make my work phone dial the given number plus a special string ( "01" and my password) and so on.
Does anybody know such a tool?
