Phone number display format - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I've upgraded the rom on my Hermes and phone numbers display in (XXX) XXX-XX format after I pressed 'Dial' [this is in the phone module]
The same display format is used for incoming calls as well while it is ringing.
Is there a way that I can change it to some other way like XXXX-XXXX ?
Thanks

If I remember right if you go in to regional settings and change the area of where you are it can change this, as well as a few other things.

You just want the ringer to RING without any other indication of an incoming call?
or
U dont want an INCOMING CALL ALLTOGETHER?
I gather it is the Former coz In the latter simply turn On <flight mode>
U can also set the device to recieve calls without Ringing by setting it to Pick up after <zero> calls.
Using a handsfree here would be an advantage.
U wont Miss any call.
I just want the ringer to RING without any other indication of an incoming call. Is it possible?

I doubt it... Seems kinda pointless, having the ability to tell you who is calling, but then deliberately turning it of..
yes, but when someone is calling, there is always a delay.
When you hear the first ring, the caller already heard it twice.
Maybe by disabling this, it would speed up the process a bit

That's the network, not the device.
It can't be the network, I never had this problem with my Nokia phones.
I personally think it's a flaw in the dialer application or in WinMobile itself.

Well... The cause may be that, but I doubt showing a caller ID screen will change the times....

I agree with texarcana here, the lights begin to flash on my phone when it rings a good few seconds before the screen get around to displaying the incoming call notification.
This is on WM 6.1, on my new HTC Diamond Touch.
I assume that notifications such as an incoming call or text message are either
A) A windows message sent to a background service awaiting it.
B) An application is executed with parameters describing the event
In either case, i believe it must be possible to redirect the notification in the registry. However, if the notification method is at fault (ie causing slow response, most likely to be true if B above is true.)
I'm going to investigate, I'll post an update of my results.
Im really sorry to bump this really old thread but has anyone solved this?? I would like to disable the incomming call notification too.. cuz I just added a full screen caller ID, but the damn notification pops up and covers the photos of my contacts.. so whats the point of the caller ID if i, not gonna be able to see the pictures
well i know its in Hkey_curent_User\controlpanel\notifications\phone
but im not sure how to disable it...
or even more important (for me) only disable it for a certain #...? thanks! anyonbdy
To Diamond I found. cab which options are unblocking "flash light for." in SOUND & NOTIFICATION it didn't give but nothing. I dug around in the HKLM/Drivers/Builtln/Keylight and Keypad register and I turned off LED generally speaking but I blocked buttons
first you'll need a registry editor, then edit the following key:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\Phone
Duration=1
change the 1 to 0
im not sure if this is exactly the fix you were looking for. its intended for stopping he default caller id bubble from blocking fullscreen caller id apps like s2u2.

Didn't work for my samsung i760, what about DispllayOrder? Set it to 0 too? Or what would that do exactly? I'm curious now, it's set to 1 so if all else fails, I could change it back to 1 again... I guess. I'd just like to know first before I go blindly jumping into something.. haha
Sidenote setting it to 0 did work I just had to reset my phone so remember to reset your phone after changing this, I see the curtain try to popup, or at least the frames but nothing after that... Although sometimes it does act buggy and I'll completely miss or be able to answer a call cause my phone will constantly viberate (No pickup on ringtone at all starting) then after the call is missed the viberating will stop but my phone will still be frozen... Thats when the screen is off though..
Okay after a few tests sometimes it does work and sometimes it doesn't work at all and the curtain will still show up... Then again screen off sometimes the phone wont ring at all, I'm setting it back to 1... LoL
I just wish there was a way or a more advanced notification manager, it should be just like being able to disable incoming text messages and disabling sent message notifications..
____
I'd love a fix for this too, as I already have a picture caller id with PocketX Photo Contacts Pro...
But it's annoying as all get out!! To put it politely, I slide to answer then I've got to press the left softkey too! In order to answer a call, if I could just disable the built in windows mobile caller id curtain then it'd be a heck of a lot easier...
Please let's get a scripter on this to start working their way around and tweaking it to be able to be disabled..
Thanks!!
________
As for ring delay which is also a few other posters concern of the phone taking it's own sweet time to decide when to start ringing... This is what I used for my i760, I'm sure someone here could turn this into use for any phone make and model:
Ring Time Limit Fix:
**772 [service code]
six zeros for the code (000000)
Scroll down with the d-pad till you see end of basic nam
hit right d-pad to change "exit" to "more"
hit middle d-pad to select
hit the down d-pad 76 times till it says slot cycle index
Change this to 1 or lower EDIT: By entering the value with the number pad and then you hit the middle d-pad to exit.
This changes the frequency at which the phone talks to the tower and will
start the unit ringing MUCH faster. the lower you go the faster but the more battery it uses. I find 1 gets the phone ringing within 3 seconds but doesn't hinder battery life.

I've got mine set to 0 though, but then again, I don't get very many calls, plus I have my phone charging a lot. Also I always carry around a spare extended fully charged battery in my holster... Usually my battery lasts a whole day... But with it set to 0 my phone picks up and rings at the end of the first ring on the callers end.

Tips & Tricks

Thought this might be a good place to start listing any quick tips and tricks you might have discovered.
To Lock Device quickly
Keep finger on the Red (Call End) button and it will bring up some options including keylock.
Not sure if anyone's noticed this but when I end a call on my Dual there is annoying little delay of about 3 seconds before the actual call is ended so I searched the registry and found this:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\PHONE\PhoneExtendSetting]
And I changed the value of EndCallTime from 3000 to 1000 re-booted and voila no more delays when ending calls
Hold the on/off button for soft reset.
Smart Dialing
This is an advertised feature but apparently not too many people are aware of it. Go to the phone app and start tapping the first couple of letters of the contacts name and the name matches will appear for you to choose from. I find this much easier than opening up the Contacts app and scrolling down to the name you need.
after pressing send for phoneapp u see last calls.
If u press left/right on the highlighted contact the phone switches through home/mobile/office...
HKLM\Software\HTC\Biotouch\Biotouch\ regulates the FPS of the cubeanimation.
Change "DownFPS", "LightFPS" und "UpFPS" to something higher for a smoother (and faster) animation.
Disable 3G, if not needed (it drains the battery faster than GSM):
Edit the registry key HKLM\Software\OEM\UMTS\OpMode and set it to "1"
Then also you could change that setting
Phone Settings --> Band --> Network Type --> GSM
To activate the changes, open the comm manager from the Cube, disable the phone and enable it again.
In italy with Vodafone I can't able to select also the Network Band GSM/UMTS to "GSM(900)" but I have to let it configured as "Auto" or "GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(2100)"
Bits
Ello, new here.. no idea if this helps a few Dual owners but..
Apps found to work on the touch dual:
S2u2 (iphone slide to unlock app), works like a charm:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343256
HHC, HTC Home Customizer (name says it all), also working like a charm:
http://www.pocketemu.com/download4.html
gfreek, thnx for the EndCallTime key, works perfect and.. 1 less annoying feature to go
Things I'm still looking to solve:
1. Mp3 ringtone seems to fade out after picking up a call, for about 2/3 seconds the ringtone is still audible :S
2. Looking for settings for the Handsfree profile, i have an Lm959 bluetooth bracelet (how geeky, i know), works fine.. but only for calls, the device is capable of blinking the leds on receiving msgs, im looking for the settings to enable just that on the TD.
3. Polling frequency of the TD seems to be on the high side, f.e. it takes about 3 rings from someone before the TD starts "ringing", since voicemail kicks in @ ring 6 I miss a lot of calls.
I found a topic about just this problem with the touch(Elf) on sprint networks, with a quickcode (##7380# I think, well.. I'm not on sprint..so that doesnt work over here.. anyone with any clue would be welcome.. My current solution is disabling voicemail..)

to do this quicker go to settings => long press end key
and select automatically execute and then lock device
holding the red button then locks the device in one press
You can invoke s2u2 instead normal devicelock
just install s2u2, rename Slide2Unlock.exe to EndKey.exe and copy all files to windows directory, with resco explorer.
the ilock doesnt seem to be working on my touch dual. when i try to go to settings, the screen goes blank.
You need to disable directdraw, do it via the registry as you can't access the settings.

Go with Total Commander to:
\\registry\HKLM\Software\HTC\CommManager and change the key
"SupportedFunctions" from 4 to 5
then make a new map named "5" (without the quotes)
go to that map and make a STRING named "default" and the string must
be "3G" (also without any quotes).
Then turn the phone off and on again and there is a 3G setting in your CommManager. I did not manage yet to add a icon in front of it
(and also not tested the working of the new setting)
Thanks, someone also pointed me to Schaps' app that has that setting http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317070

ah found it, at least for UK Orange people:
Please bear in mind that the following code is only valid for phones on the Orange UK network.
The code to set the length of time your phone rings is:
**61*07973100123*11*??#
Where ?? is the time in seconds, e.g. to set the ring time to 30 seconds you would type the following code at the standby screen then press the green send button:
**61*07973100123*11*30#
To make your phone ring for only 10 seconds:
**61*07973100123*11*10#
The code works in 5 second intervals, i.e. you can set 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 & 30 seconds.

No on-screen buttons during incoming calls [Solved]

Hi,
The query is about the "Answer", "Ignore" & "Mute Ring" not getting displayed in the incoming phone canvas in portrait mode, whereas the same is displayed in landscape mode.
In Jade, I would like to know whether there are any registry tweaks available to have the "Answer"(green color), "Ignore"(red color) & "Mute Ring" on-screen buttons displayed during an incoming call?
I had to use the hardware buttons (green and red physical buttons) to answer or reject an incoming call.
I have made few observations, which are listed below:
1. I have made the registry tweak to enable Landscape view. When the phone display is in Landscape view, if I get an incoming call, the "Answer", "Ignore" & "Mute Ring" on-screen buttons are displayed. It is only in portrait mode it isn't getting displayed.
2. The "End call" (red color) on-screen button along with few other option buttons are displayed on screen.
Thanks in advance
[Update:]Few more observations
I noticed something while receiving call during portrait and Landscape modes - There is a white backgound image that covers the entire screen in the portrait mode (over this image is where you see the default/custom caller image and the phone number). This image is the one that must be covering the 3 buttons, I am referring above.
Similarly, if you notice the background while dailing a number, you would see the image to fill only 30% (top part of the screen). Rest is the place where you have few other buttons and "End Call" (red color) button.
Hi, its me again,
I am still not sure on what needs to be done to have the on-screen buttons available during incoming calls.
Though, I was looking at the /Windows/ directory in the phone and found an image by name "IncomingCall". But not sure what to do with it.
Also, I am wondering whether there are any XML files to govern the placement position & size of the caller image and phone number that gets displayed during incoming call.
Now, I really doubt whether this is how it is in all Jades or is it just mine not displaying
[Update]:
I was searching the xda-developers > General discussion > Development and Hacking forum to get any info. Found an application called Minimal Phonecanvas (link here -->). Installed the full cab file as instructed. When testing, I could see that when I receive a call, I see the "Answer" and "Ignore" on-screen buttons, but I am not able to use them (meaning: when I touch the buttons either to answer or reject calls respectively, nothing happens.
The dialer screen options (for making outgoing calls) works perfectly though as described in the software description.
No luck still
[Update 2]
I want the incoming screen to look like this: Is it at all possible?
I too would be interested in an answer on this if anyone has the know how.
Jakai,
When searching the net for a solution, I happen to dig upon an application called Phone Canvas. Details are available at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=430354.
I tested it and it works fine. (Note: It doesn't work exactly as how I wanted, as mentioned in this thread. But, it may solve your requirement. Though I do not prefer it).
Note: after installation, your battery icon may always show a full strength. A registry fix is provided in the same thread on page 54.
I tested both on jade and works fine.
Hi,
Its me again
The following registry folders exist in Jade:
HKLN/Security/Phone/Skin/DIALER
HKLN/Security/Phone/Skin/PROGRESS
May I know whether the following folder value can exist?
HKLN/Security/Phone/Skin/INCOMING
If so, what are the entire sub values that exists for the same. I just want to test, if has something to do with changing the incoming call phone canvas as requested in the above post.
thanks.
After so much of researching the Internet. I couldn't find a simple registry tweak. But got settled with S2U2 (slide 2 unlock). It has the slide to Answer option with various setups. Actually, I am more satisfied than the original "Answer", "Reject" buttons, I wanted to enable.
If any one need this, just search this XDA forum - development and Hacking section with keyword "S2U2".
Thanks.
hi, i also have the same problem. is this really the default settings of incoming calls for htc touch 3g???or is it a bug or something?

Dialer with redial + easily edit/add/del the last phone number ?

Hi,
i'm wondering, that no dialer can do what every normal handy from the last 15Years can do that.
example for better explaination - on non wm phones (nokia, sony, etc...)
1.) make a call 12346789 (i make a mistake and missed to pressed the "5")
-> end the call manually
(then i see/hear, that i made a mistake and now wants to make a new call with the correct number.....)
2.) click on "green button" (switch to phone mode)
3.) click on "green button" again (shows the last called numbers) + filled the dailing line with the last number and now it should be possible to EDIT the last number. So i go left with the cusor and insert the missing number "5"
in all wm6 or wm6.5 dialer i never saw this function again.
ok - not very often the user makes a mistake,
but also very often - i call a number: +49123456789 the main number of a big company, then i hear in the phone call, that the person which i want have the dialing extra-number 567.
SO, then i must call the whole number again + must add the extra dailing number 567. this is really uncomfortable !!!!!
it can't be true, that i have to input the hole number again ? or ?
is there anywhere a solution for it ?
maybe we should try to hack this ?
some ideas - or who is also interessed on it ?

phone number display format problem

Hello got a problem. I am using the stock rom and I have a little issue here.
The system displays all numbers in US style, regardless my locale settings. Whatever language I choose it will display the same.
Also tried morelocale 2, didn't help.
I am using exdialer however when somebody calls me it will show the number in usa style. Also messages are shown that way.
Seems to me like it's a system wide settings, is there a way to set up all numbers to show without spaces?
Thanks in advantage
problem still here. tried all kind of locale settings, with or without apps. nothing ...
