xda II with d2 vodafone

Hello,
i've a xda and use it with my d2 vodafone card, and everything works with it allright.
I want to buy me an xda II, do anyone knows wether it works too with an d2 vodafone card? Or is there something like a simlock, can I use internet with gprs an the all stuff people with O2-Germany can use?
I'm happy for all answers that can help me.
hi,
my t-mobile mda-II works without any problems with the d2-vodafone card. You can use every kind of connection you want. No SimLock on my device!
But you can´t use gprs with a callya card you need a real card.
regards
AleX
thanks
hi alex,
thanks for your answer.
I think xda II and MDA II are the same in everything. So I think I can buy me an Xda II without any fear.
I'm soooooooooooooooooooooo excited.........
Bye...
Connecter, I would be wary about buying the xda2 if you need to use it on another service providers network, it seems people are having an awful job getting them unlocked by O2, now I dont know what kind of Vodafone sim you have but it certainly isnt O2 so make sure before you hand over the loot.
now i'm confused
Sooooo,
now i'm confused.
Is there anyone who can tell me if the xda II works with my german provider "D2 Vodafone"?
I wanna have a xda II, but I also want to use my "D2" provider, and I want use all features of the xda II.
Can someone help me???
Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi
I do have the same issue with SIM lock or not, I want to use it on a swiss network.
I just wrote to the support of O2 Germany (where I got mine from), they replied that XDA2 does not have a SIM lock.
So I should be possible to use it on any network.
Why you don´t buying the mda-II Device? I can garantie that it works!
regards
AleX
MDAII works fine
Hello,
i bought a T-Mobile MDA II. There is no simlock on my device. Web-Browsing with GPRS ist easy to set up. The only problem i have is to set it up to send and receive MMs-Messages. But i'm still working on it.
Regards
Markus

Don't be. O2 in the UK sells the XDA II with a SIM lock, while O2 Germany sells the German version of the XDA II without a SIM lock (or so I've heard).
The MDA II also has no SIM lock, and at least in Germany is considerably cheaper than the XDA II. I got mine brand new from eBay for 560 Euro without contract.
You can easily flash the O2 firmware to an MDA II (for example, if you want the homezone indicator).
Cheers
Daniel
an unlocked xda2/mda2/qtek2020
should work with just about any gsm provider there is
like an unlocked nokia telephone does
Does MDA II have english OS or German?
alex

If thats a MDA III .... then what on earth is this then?

I recently saw the MDA III advert on the T-Mobile Site:-
http://www.t-mobile.net/CDA/tmd_mda_iii,20,,newsid-3146,en.html?w=1075&h=847
However, when I went to www.pocketpc.com, I also so this similar looking, yet inferior device known as the CU928:-
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmob...y.aspx?module=deviceDisplay;PPCPhone;apac;103
SO WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS, WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?
Is the MDA III officially the successor to the XDA/MDA II ? Or is T-Mobile taking a side-step ?
Amir
Its the same thing
Well Id ont know what you guys are talking about. To me it looks like the same thing.
How did T-mobile do this side step? How are those phones on those links different?
mda3 is also sold as qtek9090
Anyone know where qtek are selling these the video ive just seen of it is amazing.
Edit its got landscape mode ~~~
Can someone reply soon as Im thinking of getting one
that mean it got 2003SE
I dont think MDA3 means the same as XDA3. So the answer is no.
My question is though, how the hell is that the Wallaby? It looks totally different and has a sliding keyboard?
xda1 and mda1 were the same
xda2 and mda2 were the same
Wallaby is xda1
the one with the QWERTY sliding keyboard is called mda3 and qtek9090
and possibly xda3 and imate2 if they also deside to release the new pda phone from HTC

Maybe the device info screen says its running on the video says:
ROM version: 0.99.00 ENG
ROM date: 06/09/04
Radio version: 0.91.00
Protocol version: 1337.27
ExtROM version: 0.99.116
O2 are not going to releasing that phone as the XDA3... instead an HTC made XDA3 will be released next year.. or so I've heard!
the name of mda2 qtek9090 is
Blue Angel
btw
CU928 is special designed for Chinese UNICOM, of CDMA 1X network.

WIFI => HTC P3300 variant (T-Mobile MDA 3 Compact)

Hi all,
Firstly, I think this is an excellent phone!
I have the T-Mobile variant (MDA compact 3) but I was gutted today when I found out that T-Mobile de-activated WIFI on it.
Apparently it can be activated ... is there any truth to this? Is there any way to get WIFI working on this phone? Are there any firmware upgrades or similar available?
Thanks alot,
Porac69

No, becausse it is HARDWARE disabled. If you manage it to solder a WiFi-Chip in your MDAcIII then please tell me how

yummi, yummi, yummi, aint this a beauty! wonder what the price is gonna be!?
Yup that's definately an option, but besides the Price i'd like to know about the Reception... The antenna can't be very big. But i think it's amazing that we reached the time a WiFi Chip with Antenna can be put into a Micro SD Card, that's just fascinating

bad reception on dutch T-mobile network - need to upgrade?

There are a lot of dutch P3300 or MDAC3 users that seem to have problems with the reception. I myself have this problem as well and even whenh I have all bars for reception on my MDA get the voicemail when I call myself.
If I then call "Outside" for examply my voicemail, the problem is solved and the phone rings when I call it. It seems some kind of weird sleep mode ???
Are there any dutch mobile phone users that had the same problems and fixed it by upgrading their rom?? If so, which ROM did you install?
Almost all T-Mobile users in Holland have this problem. The problem is known to both HTC and T-Mobile, and they are apparently working to find a solution.
Some people have even gotten temporary replacement phones (such as a Vario) until the problem is solved.
OK, so it is the T-mobile network that causes the problem.
This means that if I would go to Vodaphone or KPN the problem would be solved?
As I understand it, yes.
I have a regular P3300 on Telfort/KPN and don't seem to have reception problems.
OK,
I know enough.... I will cancel my subscription with T-Mobile and will go to KPN
hmmm. ok. Why post it here when this problem has broadly been discussed on the tweakers.net forum?
anyway, you know that there is no solution for the T-Mobile network.

Yes there is..... KPN in this case
I have already aclled t-mobile to cancel my subscription and have opened a subscription on KPN network
I have unlocked my MDA and will install a different ROM and run it on this network
I guess it is too late, but are you using the T-Mobile MDA Compact III?
I am using T-Mobile (Netherlands) with the HTC P3300 English version and I am getting better reception than ever did with my last phone & carrier.
I've even had great reception in the middle of Hornbach
Maybe it has something to do with the actual phone and not the provider
Bad reception
I have the same problem with the MDA compact 3 in combination with T-Mobile. I understand that you changed from the dutch version to the english version. Can you explain me how to do that.
Thanks in advance

I unlocked my MDA via IMEI.co.uk and afterward I first installed the official Dopod Rom followed by the Powermap ROM. Since then I don't have any problems.
I figure that this is because both the roms use a different (higher) radio rom version then the T-mobile ROM
same problem

GPRS settings for O2 UK

Hi,
I recently obtained an HTC Hermes (MDA Vario II) which I am using with a contract O2 UK SIM card. It's working fine for voice and SMS and the WiFi data connectivity is also OK but I can't connect to O2 GPRS because I don't have the right settings for WAP.
O2 won't give them to me as I'm supposed to get them by running the "get settings" program flashed onto the device, obviously I have the wrong version as the device was originally sold by T-mobile.
If anyone's got working settings for network connectivity and MMS on O2 UK I would be most grateful if you could post them.
Cheers.

The O2 Payg settings are here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1286112
The rest I can post later if needs be, but they are reasonably easily Googled.
Mike
Here is a cab file I use for O2 uk settings, it can be set up for PAYG or monthly contract.
@BOZ
That's just too easy, in my day you'd have to fetch out a stack of punch cards - nowadays it's a cab file for this an exe for that! What's the world coming to!
Mike
Hi Mike, using the cab file instead of inputting by hand means I save enough time to make a nice mug of tea!

I will stick to the mug of tea, my other half thinks I am super glued to my pc, at least a cuppa keeps her sweet, especially as I am pulling that new Russian rom apart.
