USB unable to connect; but able to charge - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

All,
I am currently able to charge my TYTN, but unable to get a USB connection to activesync; any ideas?
I have tried switching off the usb advanced but i doesn't work...
When I soft reset while the USB cable is connected it starts up in bootloader but does not show it is connected via USB.....just nothing but the bootloader startup screen.....
IPL is 1.01 and SPL is 1.04.
My rom is the latest South African....
Ant help would be very nice,
Cheers,
HJ

sounds like a firewall problem. Try disconnection from the internet and disable your firewall. If it connects then, adjust the firewall settings before reconnection to the internet.
I had the same problem with EZ Firewall

Nope, it is not the firewall, it used to work perfectly and it suddenly doesn't...
2 different computers have the exact same problem..any ideas?

I'm sure you've probably tried these, but just in case:
Reset device & stop activesync on device (memory/running programs)
Reboot laptop/pc
check in task manager that activesync is not running in the background
Delete existing partnership in Activesync & set it up again

Yeps, tried all of that.....even ahard reset....
But still no succes, now back to syncing via IR....

Just :
START > SETTINGS > CONNECTIONS > USB to PC (then untick this box)
Then try again, worked OK for me!!!

use USB switch program
try install this program in your PPC and after that change activesync via serial instead of RNDIS.
worked on my Unieversal but i do not know yours

i don't think you need this program as it is already available in control panel -> connections -> usb-pc

hellejoep - any progress in solving this problem? I seem to be having the same problem with mine - tried activesync 4.2 and 4.5 on two machines - running the latest SA ROM.

Any ideas?

I had a defective cable. It did exactly what you are describing. All other cables worked fine.

Syncronize S200

I have been trying to sincronize my S200 Qtek but it is impossible. I have made several hard and soft resets and tried with three different computers. I have installed 4.1, 4.2 and 4.5 beta versions of ActiveSync, but it is always the same: ActiveSync seems to turn on but no sincronization initialize when I connect my S200 to the USB port.
I have also made a format and reinstall windows XP but I can't syncronize information... please help me!
I have also tried to install "USB killer" without success...
Did you disable Win XP firewall? You have to disable it or any other firewall that may be installed.
If that solves your problem search MS site for how to authorise ActiveSync for your firewall.
Yes, in fact when I reinstalled windows I didn't install Norton because of the firewall. I have also unactivated windows firewall... but no sincronization occurrs
Maybe you could try another USB Cable? Or try to sync using Bluetooth?
Can't sync my S200 either...
Don't think it's cable because it is brand new :'(
Have you tried to upgrade to the latest activesync right after the installation of windows? (found here)
And perhaps some overactive antivirus programs can bug up syncing too sometimes. Did the installation of new hardware go well after you plug in your device?
When you plug in, did nothing happen or was there a small screen saying it was getting information from the phone? If yes, were you able to setup a connection (guest etc) and after that it didn't want to sync?
Got this issue resolved the fault was some tweaking I did... See, I use fixed IP with my router so I disabled the DHCP client service on services.msc... So activesync could't get the right adress from the prophet... Still don't know how I manage to make that assumption about this problem, but gladly I did
Hope this help other people with similar problem...
Same issue

Can't sync Qtek 9000 with Vista Ultimate

I just installed Windows Vista Ultimate, and then installed windows mobile device center. But it dosen't do nothing, when I connect my PDA to the USB, the first time it told me that was installing the drivers for the PDA, but it didn't recognize my Qtek 9000, insted it just installed a network card with the name "Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter", when its finished I started the Mobile device center, but nothing happens.
I try'd lots of times, but nothing. I reinstalled all, but nothing.
Anyone has any6 soluction.
Thanks
Had the same problem.
First, make sure your device is connected.
Go to control panel - network - and click manage network connections. Find your device connection and click properties - Tick all the items there... that should do it.

I haven't used a PDAViet ROM for some time. I did have a problem getting WMDC to recognise my replacement G4 after I upgraded it to a beta of Jwtight's 2.02. Reflashing the ROM solved the problem. Three other things (1) are you connecting through a USB hub / have you tried a different USB port (2) have you checked that USB connections aren't disabled in WMDC and (3) Have you got the latest version of WMDC - it was updated about a month (or so) ago.

1 - no, i'm connected directly to the pc, and i try'd all ports available;
2 - how can I check that? My WMDC dosen't do nothing, don't even start and I unistalled and installed again many times;
3 - I think yes, because I downloaded it from Microsoft.com, and made all updates available in Windows Update.
I think I'm going to try and update my QTEK with a diferent ROM, maybe the lateste WM6 2.02.00.

I would. Also sounds like you may have a problem with WMDC, which is not particularly reliable at the best of time, IMHO.

Trouble with activesync and my smartphone

Hi!
I have tried now on two computers (one old windows 2000 platforn with activesync 4.2 and the other with Windows Vista Ultimate x64 with WMDC) and on the old platform it starts to connect but after a while an error. On the new I get no connection to WMDC. I always use my USB cable. The cable works, both loads and turn my loadinglight from yellow to green. My smartphone is a QTEK 9100 Windows mobile 5.
The error occured after I did scan on the phone for duplicated files and removed them. Afterwards it just wont sync. I have tried some tools, turning of firewall, reinstaling and all of the stuff recommended on the WMDC but now I am lost
What should I do?
wwwlewis
You may have removed a critical file that you needed for syncing when you removed the duplicate files. Does whatever program you used for that have a restore option? If not, you may need to backup the files you want to save and do a hard reset.
I have tried a hard reset now and it still dosent work. Now I am deeply lost
Try going to start-->settings-->connections tab-->usb to pc and either check or uncheck the enable advanced network functionality check box and see if that fixes it.
I have the same problem...
I have the same problem, i can't sync with my pc. it only shows a balloon that said "Unrecognized Device". I can not find the usb to pc box to be checked... pls help me. thank you
I have tried to find the pc to usb tab but I just can´t find it. I am running a swedish version of wm 5, but it still should be under connections. But it isn´t.

[Feb 12] [Q] Cannot connect with ActiveSync

Installed BsBTweaks on my HTC HD2, but now ActiveSync won't connect to my phone. PC O/S is Win XP SP2. I'm running WinMo 6.5 and have the latest ROM for the device from my provider, version 3.14.531.1. I get the message: "Critical communication services have failed to start. Try resetting the mobile device, and then connect again." I haven't yet made any changes to the device using BsBTweaks, I only installed it. Have tried rebooting the phone to no avail. I have to use Disk Drive mode to get at the pictures on my SD card. Is there a way to get ActiveSync working again? I'd probably donate to the developers if this problem could get corrected and I can reasonably figure to keep and use BsBTweaks. Thanks.

Restarted the PC - worked like a charm. Thanks a million. I can breathe again.
...And I just made a modest donation. Thanks very much.
Troubleshooting Sync Connection with Your Computer
You can often solve any temporary sync connection problems by disconnecting your phone from the sync cable, waiting a few seconds, and then reconnecting it. However, sometimes you may experience persistent problems related to your network connection (for example, your Internet connection). You may be unable to sync your phone while there is an active network connection on your computer, or the network connection may be cut when you connect your phone to your computer. If this happens, you can try switching to a serial USB connection for your phone:
1. On the Home screen, slide to the Settings tab.
2. Tap Menu > All Settings > Connections > USB to PC.
3. Clear the Enable faster data synchronization check box.
4. Tap Done.
