Anybody,
Could someone let me know where i can buy an unlocked XDA from here in London. Also, can an XDA be used with any GPRS network? provided you have the correct software installed.
Thanks

thank you, i will have a look
i have recently (last month) bought 2 unlocked pdas from totalpda. the service etc is very good but be aware that the items are not new. they are refurbished models. my ones are fine, although you can tell they have been used. also you dont get the handsfree kit or the cd-rom that normally comes with it.
if you do get one from them, DO NOT do the OS upgrade suggested by o2 as this will greatly interfere with any other service providers settings. which is the problem i have now!
thank you kindly for that sound advice. it's definately made me think twice, especially the fact that they are not new.
Hi
Give these guys a call teleford telecom or something like that
01772 880880
gto mine from there about 3 weeks ago, £225 (32meg).
i think that the units are new, but come with charge cables instead of cradles.
get the impression that they have them in stock on a time to time basis.
worth a try though.
again thank you Mr R J Webb for the advice, i am so glad this XDA forum exits its a wealth of information. great idea by the developers. i will keep you posted on the results of my call to teleford telecom, thanks.
thank you, i called Preston Telecom (i think) they were very helpful, but as you said their stock has been deplenished. again they are not new but from the descrition they may as well be. thanks again for the advice.
Try ebay uk
Hi
I bought mine from ebay UK from a guy who has contract with upgrade with O2 but doesn't need the phone and it was new. I had to use the xda manipulator to unlock the phone for use with vodaphone which I am using. There are quite a few guys selling new xda sets for about £200 for the 32m version and £300 for the 64 mb version. I got mine for £290(in April 03) but it should be worth less now (maybe £250 to £300). You do not need to pay exorbitant price for a new one and you got to make sure the guy selling the phone is not a cheat. So far all my purchases with ebay UK is quite safe and you could use a escrow service (intermediate service for a small fee which holds your money until the goods is delivered in good order before paying the seller) for added precaution. There is also a company in ebay UK selling the new 64mb xda for £149 (previously £199 only 3/4weeks ago) with a contract with O2.
thanks for the advice i am familiar with ebay, its an ok market place, but tend to be secondhand. i think i am going to go for the option buying a new one with O2 and unlocking it myself, thanks anyway.

Where to get an XDA II in the US?

I currently have an XDA I (Siemens SX56 AT&T) and would like to get an XDA II (unlocked) as soon as they're sold by a reliable US source. FYI, I called AT&T Tech support and they said an unlocked phone should work great, just swap the SIM chip over from my XDA I.
It looked like Phone4Devs would be a good source, but they went out of business. The other sources (below) I've found are mostly overseas and pretty expensive.

I'm sure I'm like many of you who would like to pay less than the $850-1,000 + Unknown Custom Charges, that overseas sources are asking.
There are many versions of the HTC Himalaya phone out there (qTek 2020, O2 XDA II, i-mate XDA II). It looks like the i-mate and qTek are the best for the US. Any feedback?
Let's see if we can find a good supplier in the US !!!
Thanks.
www.expansys.us
Use this link for USA marketed iMate or O2 XDA II. Sales tax charged in Illinois only.
XDA II Prices before Shipping
Benshop - US$905
Compume - US$830
Club i-Mate - $850
4Cellular - US$990
Mobilefly - US$880
PPCW-net - US$846
Expansys.us - US$833
I converted to USD where necessary and all are BEFORE shipping. Compume (Australia) and Expansys (World-wide) seem interesting.
and how about eBay ???
has anyone considered that option to acquire a/m XDA II ???
regards,
monika
Ordered an iMat XDA2
Gave up on Expansys.us. Ordered a iMtae XDA2 unit from PPCW.net (Arne). On route, looking forward to it.
Still trying to sell my existing XDA1 though, pass the word

cshields1,
I understand what you mean because I am currently waiting on Expansys.us too. When you get your phone please let us know of your over all experience with PPCW.net and also how the warranty or technical support is handle for the phone. I understand Expansys.us will play the middle man if you have an issue with phone during your warranty period (which is good considering we are in the US).

Where can I XDAII here in the US?

Anybody knows? T-Mobile doesnt carry the XDAII.
www.gsmphonesource.com
That's where I bought my phone, 750 Bones.. Currently cheaper than www.expansys-usa.com Plus it's the T-Mobile MDA II which looks better than the XDA II.. Same hardware though.

NeoCole: MDAII is not listed on the T-Mobile website (under handhelds). I also called T-Mobile and they have no idea what MDAII is. Did you bought it here in US? Thanks
MDA/XDA III
Where can I get info on the up coming XDA/MDA III?
I would like to purchase one but I can't find anything but one picture of it on a Czech website. Its great but where can I get one in the states?
Thanks,
MrBizi
The MDA III/XDA III is pure rumor and speculation at this point. It is NOT a product you can purchase yet, because it is not a product yet.
The XDA II/i-mate can be purchaed at eXpansys.com.
There is speculation that T-Mobile will carry the new iPaq 6300 PDA/Phone sometime later this year, but until I see it on their website, I won't hold my breath on that one either.
HTH!
I got mine at www.gsmphonesource.com, the company is in vegas where I live and was very helpful! Adam (the guy who owns it) even upgraded the firmware in my hbh-65 bluetooth headset to the latest version. (small fee)
I found that if you are looking for the latest GSM phones in the US then adam usually has them or can get them. I check his site regularly to see whats new, as he usually has it first. I have purchased several items from him. p800, p900, mdaII, bluespoon, hbh-60, hbh-65.
Check it out.

Where can I buy imate JAM in Sydney, AU?

Hi evrybody,
Is there anyone know where to buy an imate JAM (SIM free - Unlock Worldwide English) in Sydney? I'm living in VIE and I'm going to Sydney on business next week. So pls share the info with me: where to buy (at best price & quality )???
Thank you very much!
The XDA II and mini are available in David Jones in the city (7th floor). I haven't seen it anywhere else, the mini was about AU$1100 and the IIs has to be ordered in and costs $1600. The XDA II was about $1000
The XDA Mini, Xphone 2, and IIs have only just come into the Australian Distributors in the last week and are slowly going out to all stores in a major way.
Would expect that the IIs is going to be a hard sell stacked up against a mini, that is $500 less (I mean $500 for Wifi and a Keyboard is a little steep)
Rest assured all good electronics stores should have these babies in before Xmas
Harris Technology have had them in stock for a couple of weeks.
If you check out www.ht.com.au it will even show you what stores have them.
i saw one in a box in Capitol Square building down in Haymarket. it's one of those small computer shops... if i'm not wrong it's listed for $1100...
Thank you all!
XDA II mini available from Digital City, George Street, $999
I bought my XDA II mini the week before Christmas from Digital City, which is in George Street, just next to Wynyard Station, for $999.
