I have tried sip change but I can't get phone pad to work on the trinity.
It has worked a couple of times and when it does it is great. As other members have said it is more likely to work if you go from keyboard to transcriber and then to phone pad. When I installed spb diary it stopped working completely and so did calligrapher, which had been working fine. I have now remved the spb diary today screen plug in and calligrapher has started working but whatever I try I can't get phone pad to work ever .
Swede claims to have this working http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1097471&postcount=25
but id definitely doesn't for me.
It seems like the problem is a combo of OS, additional software (definitely spb diary) and maybe other factors
Does anyone have any ideas or a suggestion for a different T9 input program (not tengo!)?
Thanks for any help
yeah, set it as default SIP with SKTools, works everytime.

Hi,
please where can I find your PhonePad version? Has it all languages? If you can please post it to [email protected]
THX
I have the same problem. Works fine for a while, then it refuses to switch to the phone pad unless i soft reset, it just keeps reverting back to the keyboard.
I havent tried setting the default SIP, as I want the keyboard to be the default SIP, i just use the phonepad for text messages.
I haven't figured out if its clashing with any of the other software I have installed, (I have so many). Its annoying me though!
I have a similar problem...i can see the option of phonepad in the sip menu, but whenever I choose it it switchs back to keyboard...in fact I've never been able to get it to work.
Someone had me download a program called sipchange and its an app that makes it so you can change the preferred sip but even then it still goes back to keyboard...
Here is what I'm thinking could be a problem...
Right now, I have smart dial (since this is an HTC phone) but other than that, I don't have a keypad with numbers on it...so maybe I need a file somewhere with a pic of the keypad (1-0 a-z)
Does that make any sense?

Hi, when entering text on the touchscreen, if you click the small keyboard icon at the bottom you get a choice of input methods like Transcriber, Keyboard, Phonepad... For me, when I click Phonepad it just brings up the regular QWERTY keyboard, not the nice chunky Phonepad skin that 2003 used to use for T9 input. Anyone got this same problem or is it just me?
I've never had a 2003 device, so I'm not sure if it's the same as 2003 or not, but I definitely get a phone pad type thing when I click on phonepad with my Jasjar.
HTH,
Brett
Is it the same Phonepad you get with the 'Keyboard' option from that menu, or is it a sort of 3D modelled effect numeric keypad only with the T9 alphabet on the number keys?
If the latter, anyone any idea why mine isn't?
It's definitely different than the Keyboard option and it sounds like what you're describing... a sort of 3D phone dial pad thing with a couple of extra buttons thrown in (arrows mostly).
I have no idea why yours isn't working... as much of a pain as it is, maybe try a hard reset? I had a problem getting my LED to notify me of new mail messages... it seemed to work for everyone but me. Finally I gave in and did the hard reset and it's been working fine since.
Brett
Just as I got it all how I like it!
Is there a good, free, backup program out there for WM2005?
Ok this is weird, it wasn't working, then I messed with some of the Phonepad Options (changed language, unticked boxes, etc.) to try to trip it into life, and it worked!
Then stopped working
Back to just Keyboard now. Any other ideas guys? Maybe a registry entry that tells the device what applet to call upon to show the input method?
Mine is very dodgy too. It works at times and then at other times changing to is simply causes the standard keyboard to appear. I *think* it's a memory issue as I've found that closing all applications through the task manager, then changing the input method to Block Recognizer and then back to phone pad sometimes works.
I've tried more than one hard reset without any luck...

Glad its not just me. Damn that memory issue!
Try to make Phonepad als default
Same Problem,
no memory Problem.
Try to make PhonePad als default SIP. It works fine on my MDA Compact (Marican) GERMAN T-Mobile
But when i switch back to Keyboard it will hang.
Somewhere on this site's FTP ftp://[email protected]/ there is a phonepad application you can download. I did and it re-installed the program which then worked. You could try that. Good luck!
I had the same problem and used the a quick fix for it disappearing found somewhere on the forum,
something along the lines of do a reset
go into contacts
choose phonepad input method
and it will display correctly until next time it goes wrong.
However upgrading to the latest rom it has never disappeared for me yet.
03 has no such keypad. Not on my XDA2 anyway. There is a 3rd party app called Quickey though which does the job reasonably.
I think the problems with the phone pad entry has been fixed in the last 2 software updates from O2 - are you still on the old versions?
I had the same problems when I first got my Exec but not had any issues with it for a while now.
Smiffy.
Has anyone found the fix to the phone pad issue? Been around in the FTP site but do not find the phone pad application. Any kind souls to help?
there is no fix for the keypad issue i looked and looked and looked the only way i got it to reappear was by upgrading to a new rom it still wouldn't appear with any other rom previous to aku 2 either but now i am running on summiter's aku 2.2 rom for my wizard and it works great and the phone pad is there
Is there an solution out there?
I have the same problem with my htc p3600.. the phonepad does not appear...
Solution Found
I have a solution and it works for me...
1)Switch off any devices like WiFi, Bluetooth, and for the moment disable any start-up applications (from starting) - To minimize system memory usage
I have done it with SPB Pocket Plus. It can disable any start-up application becuase it starts in "safe-mode"...
2)Remove CF and SD storage cards - There have been some bugs reported for storage cards where they may drain system resources if too many applications are loaded on the cards.
3)Select the default keyboard as the default input method - To temporarily prevent other input methods from being the default method
4)Soft reset the device
5)Open an application like Notes/Word
6)Select Phone Pade as the input method by clicking on the screen's bottom right icon's arrow and selecting Phone Pad from the list of available input options.
7)You should be able to use Phone Pad in all other applications as well as switching on WiFi and the start-up applications.
For me works fine, after soft reset !!!
Please try this solution.... and give us feedback!!

Is there an application we can use in order to Write SMS Messages or mail using the Phone Keypad like the regular cellphones?
Remebre the old tedious (Key 2 push push C, Key 4 push puss pus I, Key 1 push A, Key 6 push push push O)
I love my TYTN for the great little fast keyboard but find it a little annoying having to use both hands when I have to send just a quick reply message while I am walking (NOT DRIVING)
Any suggestions?

Thanks works perfectly for me. One problem though. Once I have selected Intelli Pad and I soft reset my device the normal keyboard gets selected again and I have to manually re-select Intelli Pad again. Is there a way that Intelli Pad remains selected elem after a soft reset.
Thanks and Regards

but precipitevolissi... OK!
I've just installed Phone Pad onto my M700. Seemed to install fine, but I can't find it. Dumba55 question no doubt. Can anyone help.
launch messaging or word, then go to the keyboard icon at bottom centre, beside it there is a triangle facing up. click on that and change to phonepad.
other way is to go to settings and change input method from whatever to phonepad

I've installed that. Ive set it to phone pad. Go into messages, and the settings always reverts to Keyboard. Go back into G4-sip and that is still set to Phone Pad!!
Halleilujah! I deinstalled everything and then install g4 SIP first then Phone pad and it works. It doesnt work by default by setting g4 sip to phone pad as messaging still uses kb, have to change setting in messages too!!
hi,just installed the pcm keyboard on my hermes.
now i want to setup the keyboard in the system settings, but if i choose the PCM keyboard and click OK, the pcm keyboard is still not choosen but therefore the standard keyboard.
another problem. if i choose PCM Keyboard and then Options, there comes a message up
Code:
PocketCM Keyboard has to be the current SIP in order to configure it.
And now?
tried a reset ?
Same problem here. I've been trying lots of different versions without success. I uninstalled many other apps, removed today plugins, enjoyed magical steps such as [reset, install, reset, select, reset and try to use] and even after hours and hours of setups I never saw what this soft was looking like :-(
I'm running WM5 on HTC wirzard (Qtek 9100).
You must download SIP Changer.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=271008
Then run Programs - SIP changer and change keyboard on PCM keyboard. Then you can go to Setting and set up PCM keyboard.

I did this twice, still doesn't work !
I had the same problem, Sleuth's SIP Changer fix it, never had that problem since.
Try doing it after a soft reset.
I had a similar problem, here is what happened with me:
1. I uninstalled v0.8 then installed the latest one
2. tried to change the options of the KB in the settings menu..
3. I got the same message
4. the I looked at the kb icon (down near the soft keys) and it was not set to PCM kb..
so all I did is changing it to PCM kb and then went back to options and everything works fine now...
this might sound very stupid.. but it worked for me... I can't understand why this happened in the first place.. but you can give it a try..
cheers
my problem was solved with the SIP Changer
Sorry for last post. I didn't understand SIPchanger needed a soft reset. This works now. Thanks !
i can load the software fine on my hearald but it comes out really big and doesnt fit on my screen. only the middle part of the keyboard shows up on screen. but that part fills 90% of my screen. can someone please offer a solution.

are you sure you did not install the VGA version??
Thanks Duke. Feel kinda foolish now appreciate your time.
Hey, I did the steps that you said and now my phone seems bricked. It gets through the boot screen and into the Windows Mobile 6 Professional screen and stops. Any ideas?
Till now I've been using the HD2's standard HTC keyboard as SIP, as I haven't found anything I was really satisfied with.
Until yesterday I installed Resco Keyboard Pro 6 Beta, which is just fantastic (read about it elsewhere in the forum). Perfect for HD2.
But now, I've discovered that a number of my apps changes the SIP back to standard HTC when I open them. Resco's option to make its keyboard the default SIP does work. After soft-reset, it's still the default SIP in most programs.
So I tried installing Fingerkeyboard, SPB Keyboard, etc, just to make sure it wasn't Resco's fault (as it's a beta version anyway...). The same happened with all the other 3rd party keyboards.
Is there anyway to prevent apps from changing the SIP? It's driving me crazy, have to manually switch back to Resco everytime I open those stupid apps (which I depend on at work ) Thank you in advance.
Use XDA google search and look for a programme/cab file called sipchange.
Install it then select the keyboard type you want as your default; problem solved.
WB
Not that simple, I'm afraid. My problem is not how to set Resco as the default keyboard after SR. Get that already with Resco's own inbuilt option. Then I tried using both SIPChange and default_IM_WM5.cab. It still happens, some of my apps changes the keyboard back to standard when executed (and it is not about setting the delay in SIPChange, I'm talking about after all the processes during SR).
That's strange. Never had this problem with Sipchange installed.
You are certain that you have set your preferred default keyboard via the sipchange utility? That's how you get the keyboard you want to boot up after a SR.
If yes then not sure what else to suggest.
WB
Hi, I am having the same problem. One example of such software is Lingvosoft, when you hit search key, the keyboard pop opens, but with default keyboard, even after using sipchange.
I was thinking maybe there's a way to disable the standard HTC keyboards all together through the reg. But that's asking for trouble/hard-reset
What to do...
I think the problem is that using SIPChange, DefaultIM.cab, nueSIPdefault, etc, none of these really changes the value of "defaultim" at controlpanel\sip. It remains with the standard keyboard's CLSID.
I'm really tempted to change this value to Resco's, but reading around here in this forum shows a lot of people having big trouble afterwards messing with this value (mainly because they used the wrong CLSID?) and required a hard-reset...
