tytn in US - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi guys,
Heading to NY over the break. Was wondering if someone could suggest a few shops where i may be able to pickup the tytn for cheap. Also if i bring the tytn back to the Uk will i have problems getting a charger etc for it ?
Thanks in advance

TyTN's here come with a universal power supply (2 round prongs) & a US adaptor. I don't think you'll have any problems finding a UK adaptor for it.

Any shops you can recommend that sell it for cheap ?

funny thing, i have the opposite problem, i bought a tytn on ebay for 310 BP (603 USD), and i have to find a US adaptor for it..!!
I am not sure of the currnet prices in NYC but i know in Canada the price is closer to 800USD...
Safe travels,
a.

Try these places:
DataVis (Midtown on 5th & 38th)
http://www.datavis.com/webapp/commerce/command/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=466867&prmenbr=2000
*Instore prices are sometimes higher than thier website.
J&R (Downtown across from City Hall on Park Row, just off Broadway)
http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4132416
-Lee

thanks guys

J&R has the Tytn. Price without contract was $799 when I checked a couple of months ago.
I would seriously avoid buying anything from DataVis (I don't think they carry the Tytn anyway) - they only return for store credit, and can be quite obnoxious.
There's also another New York-based company selling the Tytn (Mobile City Online - http://www.mobilecityonline.com), but I don't have any experience with them. They're selling the Tytn for $739.99.

Where to by a Phrophet in North America?

Hey guys,
After weighing out the Atom vs Phrophet debate, it looks like a buddy of mine and myself have decided on getting a couple i-Mate Jamin's but now the thing is trying to find a seller in North America. Preferrably in the USA because I'm sure it'll be cheaper since we have access to an American credit card and an American address. So far on eBay I see them going for $650USD/$750CAD. Only one seller is selling the i-mate Jamin. What's the lowest price I can get one for especially if I buy two at one time? If anyone is selling used in excellent condition how much does a used Jamin go for? Thanks a lot guys.

Where to buy an O2 XDA ATOM?

Hi guys im after an O2 Atom or HP version of it, can some one recommend a website (besides fromebay) that I can buy this from?
Thanks
Well, there aren't really that many places that will ship to the UK, and provide a really good price for an Atom.
I was hoping to get mine from expansys, but, I ended up buying of ebay.
Although I did, I got it for the cheapest price, brand new shipped from Japan, and had it within 5 days of purchase.
It comes with the full O2 warranty too, which was a plus, and I've had no problems with my Atom since I got it.
Is this phone sim locked? What cost would be good to buy from Ebay!
AS
Hi guys,
I am living in Hong Kong and easily can get BRAND NEW O2 Atom (& accessories).

Cradle & Battery for Atom
Hi socialworkersmith,
Spare battery for Atom is available, however, first time to hear cradle for Atom - is that official item from O2 or just 3rd party stuff?

I'm in Hong Kong rite now....went to Mongkok the other nite, and saw the myraid of handphones from everywhere...yup, and the WHITE Atom (otherwise officially named as Atom PURE) is in town.
I believe the functionality is the same as the original ATOM, just colour wise, it is pure gleaming white.
Is USD760 from those shops in Mongkok? Heard most items selling there are parallel imports, stolen or 2nd-hand. So buyers beware.
Hi henrylim,
Go to big chain store like Fortess, Broadway, CSL, PCCW, etc. The normal price range is now HK$5,600-5,900.
As always, do pay special attention if the selling price is significantly & suspiciously lower than normal range - that is true anywhere in the world.

As always, we have to pay special attention if selling price is significantly & suspiciously lower than normal range - either you are smart enough or others are smarter than you...... normally, it is the latter case

I bought mine together with a Kingston 1 GB flash card at US$ 750 in HK, in that large computer store... you know where it is, don't you?

Best way to get a Hermes cheap!!!

Guys, I'd like to know how you all go about getting your Hermes and how much you pay for it.
Since I live in a country where is costs like $1000 for the Hermes, I was wondering what would be the best way to go about getting it for cheap like it is in the US and UK.
I tried asking a few of my friends in the states to pick up one of the cingular connections which offers an 8525 along with a 2 year contract for about $400, but that would mean they have to get an extra connection.
I've noticed that there are a lot of people who sell these kind of phones on ebay which have been unlocked for around the same price.
Is there anybody you guys would recommend? or is there any other way I can go about getting the 8525 or equivalent for around $400 Brand new.
Hope yu guys can help out ASAP. My friend in the US leaves in another 2 weeks. It has to reach him by then.
Thanks and Regards

Ah, the gansta stronghold, as we call it.
Thanks guys...
@ $5 x 24 = $120.00... Really? The only other place I saw that kind of a price was on Amazon where an 8528 was going for about $125.00 with a 2 year Voice and Data Plan from Cingular which at it's cheapest would cost you around $80.00 a month.
Hope somebody else can point me out to a good deal. I'd prefer the M3100. Like our Mr. Activ Moderator pof pointed out... it's looks neat

Yes it's true, around $120... but it's a two year contract. In total the monthly fee is $25 including only 12250 packets and free calls from 1am to 9pm inside the softbank network...
SoftNank in China
I got my SoftBank Hermes 200 phone in China for US$450 unlocked with English ROM.
Managed to find what looks like a decent seller on eBay.
Let's see how it goes. Brand New 8525 for around 450.00
Check this out.

You can shop online thru here. Based in HK.
Hi Henry,
Thanks for the link. I'm trying to avoid the X01's. Looks like this one works up to about USD 550.
I got my Cingy 8525 from Craigslist (SF Bay area) for $400 about 4 month ago

Where to purchase x7501 in Australia

Hi guys, i know this is not a normal question in these forums but i don't know where else to look.
apart from ebay, is there any other way an australian can get their hands on an htc x7501?
any help is appreciated.
thanx in advance
After extensive searching, the only place I found was ebay. Also, just making sure that you know the X7501 does not have a front camera for video calls. Only the X7500 does.
that would be because the X7501 is only for the North American Market, the X7500 is for the rest of the world, but obviously it depends on orders from the retailers and networks as to whether the distributors will bother to import it.
i would say Ebay all the way, or from a reputable worldwide online retailer such as expansys or someone similar.

WHy do you want a 7501 rather than a 7500? Did you realise the 7501 is the same but just missing the front camera?
Unfortunately, when I asked the same question of HTC on Oct 24, they replied "
"There is no plans for a release of HTC Advantage X7500/X7501 at this current stage. The shift is due for release last quarter of this year, hopefully this will suite your requirements."
The Shift doesn't suit my requirements so I ordered a 7501 from Mobileplanet - it arrived yesterday!
I asked HTC where I could buy Dopod U1000 back in March this year. They replied that they will not be sellin this device in Australia and New Zealand.
They said the Telco in Australia wanted to charge them an arm and leg for 'testing fee', which HTC refused to pay.
So I got mine from Singapore, and found out that no testing is needed. It just worked.
I don't see SHIFT doing well at all in Australia. It's too small to be used as a Vista machine but too big to be carried around. It's too battery poor, and too slow. I do see Advantage/Athena doing very well in Australia. It is almost a perfect device.
Thanx for the reply guys. i know the differences between the x7500 and x7501 but the increase in price just for the front camera is not justified. i dont use video call anyway.
i'll check out mobileplanet, how much did you pick it up for?
also fixerboy, how long did it take to be sent to you from the day you ordered it? and how much was the combined price with shipping in AUD? was there any customs fees?
thanx
Approx $A1200 inc shipping and a 4 in 1 cable - Ordered approx 10 days ago - said backlog was until Nov 22 but the day before yesterday, the tracker said it was backlogged for 9 days - then it showed up yesterday so approx 12 days from order to arrival.
excellent news. i might order it today. i had a look through the checkout process, do you remember which shipping option you chose? in other words, which ones apply to australia? is "rest of the world - 3 - 4 days" the only option available to australians?
also, how did you pay? credit card, wire transfer?
thanx

My guess is that he is in Great Britain as the ebay listing is in GBP.....
Location
Correct UK, This is a UK English Shift.....
As it turns out I was already watching this in My Ebay before I saw the thread. Sadly as stated previously though, only shipping to UK.
Best of luck in selling.
really need one, just lost my x7500 today..
please let me know if u can ship it to Canada, thx
International
Buy it now and as long as your paypal address is certified i'll ship it to canada.
We may need to adjust the postage (I've stated £18 in UK, i think it'll be at least double that to canada)
maybe i just bid on it? thx
I am international attorney and have interest. Would you consider shipping to USA? (At my expense of course) Please advise on USD price if this is possibility. Also advise as to whether swaps or trades would be in order as feasible alternatives (e.g. I have 3 HTC TILT (Sprint-compatible) phones I would be willing to part with or augment within such a transaction.
SORRY!!!!
It's sold...... Thanks.....
If anyone is interested, I am selling a NEW HTC shift. I only bought it on the 21st Jan 2009.
I bought it for a friend (I do IT work privately) and he now says that he doesn't want it.
I am selling it for €600 (plus shipping) which is the price that I paid for it. I will include the invoice to prove this!!
The device has not been used other than to check that it works.
If anyone is interested, please contact me. nicholas at cross dot lu
Forgot to say... the shift is UK version, and I will ship worldwide so long as you are willing to pay for insured delivery (will be approx €30).
Here is the link to a certain site that I shouldn't mention: item n°: 140298568640
