total commander - editing the registry - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Could someone please help me and tell how to find the registry files in vario II (tytn). I just installed the Total Commander as registry editor (the only one that the Vario II let me install...) but can't find the registry!
Thanks!

Go to \
Then go to the dir named \\
There you'll find a directory "registry"

Please make sur eyou follow my articles - I've also elaborated on this question in my Registry Editor Bible (see http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/menneisyys/UltimateRoundupOfRegistryEditors.asp ) . In a nutshell, enter '\\\' directly as the path and, then, select Registry.

Instruction on how to generate working .reg files on WM5 ?

Hello,
can anyone tell me if there a good instruction somewhere about producing an executable .reg file for the WM5 platform (Qtek 9000 PPC as well as Qtek 8300 Smartphone) ?
It should contain modifications to the registry which should be applied upon exectuting this file.
(With thge help of a second such file I'd like to reset the initial reg values back.)
Thanks in advance.
well
just look inside a .reg file with notepad.
example:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.2bp]
"Content Type"="image/bmp"
"Default"="bmpimage"
"PerceivedType"="image"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.3gp]
"Default"="3gpfile"
that's it...
im sure u understood what should be done...
To make it executable you need to write a custom app or import the reg settings into a cab and load the cab.

How do i make a .reg file delete a value in the registry ??
I think you insert a - before the key
I'll have to google to confirm, but I'm cooking right now

Yes, just this would be my prime question:
Is there any documentation on how to make it executable by "transforming it into a cab file" ?

Reg edits

Ive been looking for a while on this forum and wish to edit my registry to fix my camera etc..
The reg settings are no prob.. but could somebody please explain to me exactly what i need and how i go about editing the reg.
There was a a .cab file posted that told me to "put this on your phone then run it"(to fix the camera)
how do i run those files?.. i cant seem to find a file manager of any sort on my phone and active sync, although it lets me see the files, will not let me run them.
Any help anyone could give would be great.
I know this will be pretty simple for most people here, but ive only had this phone for 2 days and cant find any simple step by step instructions for doing things like this anywhere.
Check out gsfinder+ as a great free file explorer.
Check out PHM Tools for a free registry editor (there's another as well, called TRE I think).
I use Klimst (?) registry editor. Many people will recommend Resco or Total Commander to do both of these functions.

Thanks for your help.. it seems i totally forgot about the fiel manager there already (duh), and have now found the prog to edit reg settings.
thanks

Who knows how to use Total Commander to edit the registry?

I need help editing the registry using Total Commander. I have it installed and running on my herald but i don't know how to use it as a registry editor. Can anyone show me how to use it? I am trying to change "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SOFTWARE \HTC \CommManager \WLAN= "Windows WLanMgr.exe " "DeviceName" = "{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006} TNETW12345"
go to the root directory, to get there, keep hitting up folder, then hit the "//" and there should be 3 folders, go to HKLU and then find the file and edit it
i'm pretty sure its the "//" folder
there are only a few folders in the root,so it shouldn't be that hard to discern
thanks for letting us know how to access the registry editor files. i was going crazy trying to find it in total commander. on my tilt it shows up as this: \\plugins and then from there you'll find hklm which is hotkey local machine. thanks again!!!
Adding entries to the Registry
I also had trouble getting into the Registry in Total Commander but have done that now. When we are advised that a particular entry should exist and it doesn't, does that mean we have to create one? And how do you do this in Total Commander? I can't find anyway of adding entries. Thanks for the help.
disable
is there a way to disable total commander? i f'n hate it!!!ahhhhhhhhhhhh!
I use only registry plugin in Total Commander to edit registry..the best way because I have two sides to copy registry strings and other stuff..
Does anyone knows where to get more plugins for pocket total commander!!?!?
Thanks, that worked for me also!
It's helpful. thanks.

Editing registry

Sorry if this question is a bit dense.......
I have a Pioneer in-car Bluetooth system that cant see my Hermes (SPV 3100).
I have found this solution below on another thread. Could anyone advise:
1. Where to fine the registry file (I cant find it anywhere through explorer)
2. How do I update the registry?
Many thanks for any help...
Solutions:
Change the COD (Class of Device) from a PDA device to a smartphone device.
This can be done this way:
1. First make sure you've got a backup, or remember all settings you change in the registry.
2. Edit with a registry editor the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\SY S\COD
By default my vario II does have the value: 1048852 (decimal)
Change this to: 5374476 (decimal).
3. Soft restart your device
4. Voila! Your device now identifies itself as a smartphone, and my pioneer unit finds it without problems.
search the forum for a registery editor..and then edit the required registery
Thanks.
I now have Total Commander installed. Where are the registry files?
TC is whowing the following directories:
Application data
ConnMgr
Docs & Settings
My Docs
Program files
Storage Card
Temp
Windows
..and then half a dozen files
i dont think it edits the registery files.....
use this one ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=29661&d=1155247044
or this one http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-phm-registry-editor-v0-70.html
Loaded and registry changed. I'll see if it connects to the Pioneer system tonight.
MANY THANKS for the advice
