Bluetooth home folder - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I am not sure if this is already posted elsewhere because I did a search and couldn't find that.
Does anyone know how to change the home folder for bluetooth recieved files? I need to change that to recieve files directly to my MicroSD card not in the main memory (which has not enough space most of the time).
Any help?

It looks that you cannot specify the directory for bluetooth incoming files.
MS Bluetooth stack does not have such a option.
You can solve a part of this problem by using "Dr.Yar bluetooth 1.51" software. It will add FTP bluetooth profile for your phone and it will give you a ability to choose the folder for saving files.
But!
Some sending devices use OBEX file transfer instead of using FTP bluetooth file transfer. For this cases standard MS OBEX profile will be used and files will be saved into "/My Documents" folder.

This software works great; be sure to double-click the bluetooth icon to Start the program.

Resco Explorer BlueTooth File Transfer

A workaround to enable Resco Explorer BlueTooth file transfers.
Uncheck Use IrDA via OBEX under General Options.
Select the file for transfer and choose Send To - Infrared Recipient...
This will take you to the Beam File... (Beam) screen similar to the one when you want to transfer files using IrDA / BT in File Explorer.
If the Xda II and the target device BT is enabled detection and transfer as per normal.
Took me a couples of days to figure that out too..
Good post.
Great, I was expecting someone to find something for resco explorer
Thanks
where can I download the resco explorer from?
I am using i-mate PDA2K with Windows 2002 but I couldn't send any bluetooth
message so far?
i use the file explorer to browse the vailable bluetooth devices near to me
but it's just showing Searching and nothing happens after that?
what is the problem?
you can download from here

Sending files via Bluetooth in JAM?

How to do so by file explorer??
AS u know Microsoft protocol for Bluetooth is so restricted even it can't send file via bt!
Is there any 3rd party prog. that solve such problem??
Yes, there is a program available.
The excellent Resco Explorer 5.2, allows Send by BT, earlier versions only supported Send by BT on iPAQs.

Very good value for money.

From File Explorer just tap and hold on the file and then select beam file from the pop up menu. Remember to switch on the BLuetooth first.
Of course you can send files via Bluetooth with MS stack!!!!
Total Commander for PPC (link below) - free and allows beam (IR/BT etc) from Total COmmander interface (which is like file explorer)

yogioz how kan you send file by BT in Total Commander? I can send only by irda
Mate - you use beam in file explorer (TC fixes this). Beam will use irda or BT - provided you turn your BT on first. You will get irda and below that is searching. The 'searching' is looking for BT......

Are you guys saying that without TC you could not get BT to work from File Explorer? I never installed Total Command and have been sending files via BT from File Explorer since day 1 of my magician!

Missing Bluetooth file trasnfer in WM2005 JASJAR

File Explorer does not support Bluetooth file trasnfer , I am using JAS/JAR running WM2005. AM I missing something?
there is a registry change you can make to add support for this - see http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Universal_Registry under To change the ability to receive files via Bluetooth (OBEX)
i've not tried this myself, though!
If you don't mind spending on 3rd party software then Resco File Explorer may be your best set and they now have a WM5 compatible version.
Likewise to transfer from your PC to the phone your windows PC file explorer should manage it provided your device is paired. But don't forget to turn on the bluetooth on the device and also the "accept all incoming beams" as this is often confused as being mandatory for IR transfers only.
Kind Regards
access is denied
when i try to change values it give me error of access is denied, can anybody help me
failed
followed all the changes mentioned in this post and try to send a file to my PC. It recognizes my PC but when i click on tap to send...it tries for a few seconds and then gives a status saying failed
I think it is at your PC end, and I have had similar problems depending on the bluetooth setup that I had on the pc, I could activesync on bluetooth, but not send files, yet on an alternative machine I could do both. They were running different bluetooth dongles and thus settings and drivers.

Where are all the bluetooth functions (esp. File Transfer)?

The only bluetooth functions I get on my MDA Pro are Headset and Serial Port. I'm desperate for File Transfer... does anyone know how to get it? Thanks!
They are there, just not visible..
Try sending a file to your Universal through BT, and it shall recieve it..
Make sure that the beam settings are "Accept all inncoming"
if you use the inbuilt file explorer on any file, you can press and hold, then select beam file. if bluetooth is on, it will:
1. search the infra red port
2. Search all surrounding devices with bluetooth on, and discoverable.
then you can just select where you want it to go.
Transfer files using bluetooth
Does anyone know how I could transfer a file from my Qtek 9000 to my Nokia N70 (Symbian OS) using BLUETOOTH. When I pair the two I get "Dialup networking” only I cannot find a way of transferring files from one device to the other. Please include step by step instructions if you know how.
Thanks

1. Enable Bluetooth on both devices;
2. Open File Explorer, go to the desired file, hold the stylus down (like right click on a PC) and choose "Beam File" (this works with Bluetooth as well as Infrared)
3. Choose Nokia N70 or its assigned device name when you see it on the list
File sent as a message not as a files transfer
Yes thanks i tried doing what you suggested, but it sent the file from the Qtek 9000 to the N70 -> recieved it as a message and i could not save the actual file anywhere on t he N70?
Well, what does the message look like? What type of file are you trying to transfer? I would expect you be able to save an attachment or something similar. I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the Symbian OS.

Either I'm doing something stupid here, but.. if I send a file from my desktop to my MDA Pro (BT enabled, accept incoming beams enabled) I just get a message saying 'ftp service not found on target device'
If I explore available services I can see DUN and Voice Gateway... am I missing something?

Im very familiar with symbian OS but new with PPCs so should be able to help!
Install a file explorer such as fexplorer onto your n70. Fexplorer on the root page has a mail option, and when you enter it, you can see all the files recieved via btooth/mms. Copy the file and paste it to your desired location using fexplorer. Alternatively, if the file explorer you use doesn't have the "mail" option on the home of the sw, visit x:/system/mail (x= c or e depending on where messages are stored) and browse throygh the folders until you find the attachment and paste it to where you want.
Thanks
Thanks very much, i did what you said, but the mail opton was not there, instead i found the Inbox directory and there was what i was looking for, so thanks again...

something like this? http://www.silentservices.de/btCrawler.html
Browse and BT transfer data from deviceA to deviceB
I check BtCrawler it does not let you transfer files between device, what i am looking for is something like a file explorer where (once two devices are connected via BT) then one can copy files (using a fileexplorer type of interface from one location in device A to another location in Device B. Veyr easy stuff really but cannot do it anymore in Qtek 9000 WM5, whereas in my Blueangel WM2003 i used to have that exact functionlity, and i used to do it by transfering files from my Cellular camera to my PDA.

OK, got you this time. WM5 only supports Obex-Push (trabsfering V-Cards and stuff). It currently does not support Obex-FTP which is exactly what you are looking for. Maybe some future updates from M$ will add this functionality, so I hope...
cheers
Thanks, but if you find any software that provided the " Obex-FTP" on the WM5 PDA could you please send me a message.

Bluetooth and File Sharing

Hi,
I would like to transfer files between phones using bluetooth.
I can set up a synch between two devices (e.g. my wifes Sony-Ericsson) but I cannot find any way of using the connection to transfer files.
Have I missed something simple?
Thanks,
Joe

Just use OBEX file transfer - that is, simple Beam File from your File Explorer on your Pocket PC (and send file or something like that on the phone). See for example http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=1065&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 for more info on file transfer issues over BT.
