Rename mail account - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Does anyone know how to rename a mail account that has already been created? I can't find anywhere I can change the display name of the mail account (re-editing the settings has the name greyed out)...

I don't think it's possible...

I assumed there might not be a function for it... but maybe if someone knew where these were stored in the registry I could change it there...?

There isn't under WM5. Please read my article on just this q: http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=600&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1

8525 "Fantom" mailbox in Messaging

Hi guys - I think I got a little carried-away cleaning up my storage card, and must have deleted one of my inbox's for comcast.net. Now when I try to readd my pop3 comcast account (which is NOT listed in the "messaging, accounts" folder list, my 8525 pops up a box saying "That name is already assigned to another account. Enger a unique name and try again." There is no account listed at all for "Comcast." The only account I have is for Xpress Mail.
I search the registry for everything I think could work. No luck. Comcast even shows up on my Today screen, when I have Messaging as a Today item. I can't open the Comcast messages, when I click on the "Comcast" reference, though... Nothing happens.
Can anyone assist? Please no hard-reset!
Thanks,
Mitch
I had the same problem. The phantom mailbox is in a mail database somewhere, not the registry, and I used some utility or other to delete it. Sorry to be so vaugue but I did find enough clues to work it out by searching these forums.
mailbox DB
OK - well thanks for the reply - that at least gives me a place to start looking.
thanks again.
There is another solution if you use a backup program with selective restore, just hard reset, restore backup except for mail settings, then redo mail manually.
Or, if you synced with activesync after deleting whatever it is, it may still be in the recycle bin on your pc. Don't know if this would be any good, but maybe worth looking.
Good luck

This was the article that gave me the clues. You have to be careful of course. I dug around in these folders/db's and deleted references to the phantom mailbox.
Good luck

Contacts ordered by First Name and not by Last name

Hello,
When I open the contacts app, all the contacts name is ordered by "Last Name, First Name".
Is there a way to modify that?? By registry? Or a tweak app??
Back when I had my Prophet with WM5 I think there was a way to modify that, probably by registry , because after that I never needed to change anything or use the old Outlook trick.
onesolo, check out this thread dedicated to your question.

[Q] Where are these settings stored?

I'm still working on setting up the perfect UC for my phone. I'd like to know where to find these settings (whether in a file or the registry, doesn't matter).
1) Regional settings
2) Windows live account (including e-mail)
3) Other e-mail accounts (POP3 as well as IMAP)
Thanks in advance!
regional settings would be in hklm\nls
so for me in ENG-US id use DefaultLCID 0x409
Live settings are here
hklm\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live
Not sure about pop/imap as i don't use these on my phone (and not quite sure what you're trying to do ), but try hlkm\system\inbox\settings or hklm\software\microsoft\inbox and search around in there.
I guess the easiest way would be to add a pop or imap account and just search the registry for the name of the account.

Run it before and after and compare the results w/ tools like "beyond compare"

Please forgive my intrusion, can someone please enlighten me as the what "UC" stands for? I have seen it mentioned a few times and just can't place it.

Interesting. I understand this makes a snapshot of my entire registry so it can be compared?

Thanks! The regional ones I would not have found without help.
I had already found that windows live folder, but I'm not sure if that actually restores my e-mail account too if I'd import it.
Krazp. Tried beyondcompare, but beside some system state keys and a bunch of hex values (maybe that's it), nothing along the lines of e-mail accounts changed! T.T
I do know it's possible to set them up using provisioningxml, but I just can't get it right that way, as I don't know the possible functions.
Very cool program Jack! Doesn't look easy to import Angelusz... I ran it against idiffce and came up with tons of changes at:
(incl subkeys)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\PIMSources\1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Security\CredMan\Creds\ (this one looks tricky because the values change each time)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Extensions\ContextMenus\Contacts\
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\Windows Live
*.mpb files in \Windows\Messaging
MxpDatabase.db
WindowsLive.vol
cemail.vol
pim.vol
edit: found this key too that wasn't in the change log... HKCU\Software\Microsoft\pMSN\SavedUsers

can't change email settings

Hello out there.
I can't change my email settings anymore. Also I can't create a new mail account. If I click on these buttons nothing happens. If I click longer I can delete the accounts that all.
What can I do? Please help.
Balba
My advice is to create your account with a alternative program, which is for example Profi Mail which I use with a pleasure. It's very easy to operate with it, and it's very practical, here is the version I use:
http://uploading.com/files/41d4fc78/ProfiMail.v.3.20.rar/
Read the text file in archive, just register it with CD-Key that you want: 543435, 634535334, 434232, 5643534, 654453, 5345 or something like that.

try softreset, delete all email settings, softreset and create new email.
Thanks.
For the second tip I can tell you that I deleted the accounts. But if I click to create a new one nothing happens at all. That´s great.
Anyone an idea? Is it possible that there is something wrong in my registry?

Email Address Name

This is specific to the HD2, but for some reason when ever I send messages from my HD2 on WP7 the name that shows up is just my initials. I might have filled something out quickly when setting it up to make do this, but I don't know where to fix it. My Gmail account has my correct name associated with it and so does my Windows Live account. Does anyone know how to change the name that people see as your name when you send them an email?
bump 10char
ill bump it once more
for those interested, I got an answer here:
