Bluetooth ActiveSync Setup Help please. - Networking

Hi Members,
I have just joined the site and this is my first post to try and find a solution to the most annoying frustrating problem im having. I am trying to connect a o2 XDA Mini to my laptop via bluetooth over a belkin dongle. My system only shows com port 4 then 9 12 etc. I have tried using 4 many times. Both the phone and the pc partner ok, but then when i try to sync from the handset the PDA try's to partnet again and will not connect. I have tried other ports, no good! same result. I then searched google extensivly and tried installing other stacks Widcomm, blue soleil etc as i aslo have cards and dongles for those, still no joy. Is the phone broken? Well my wife has the same make and model. Her one wouldnt connect either!! whats the problem with this phone/PDA. Do you have to be a rocket scientist to use BT or what. I visited other sites and forums and posed the question there. Apart from one reply it appears no one seems to know either way. Any help or guides other than the outdates geekzone(2004) would be most appreciated as i think those guides were not created for WM5 systems lol
Thank you and fingers crossed lol

I've always had problems syncing over bluetooth.
I dont have a WM2005 device, but my XDA mini exhibits the same problems.
I did get my xda to sync through bluetooth on my windows computer, but that was using bluesoeil. Strange thing was, after i switched stacks to the normal windows one, when i successfully sync'ed through bluesoeil, it WORKED!!
A hard reset has happened since then and im plagued with problems.
If you use a mac and a PC like me, i found it very easy to sync my xda mini through bluetooth with a mac. (provided you have buy the software).
If you search even harder through google, theres a page i came across which shows you, through windows cmd line, delete ports and free some up. Havent tried it tho.
Anyways goodluck, try hard resetting and starting fresh if you wanna sync wirelessly that bad.

Try this
Try this , it may work for you. Also I found that XP SP2 is needed if you wnt to sync via BT
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=246847
Good luck
Ciao

works perfectly for me using different versions of vidcomm on the belkin and logitech dongles i have on various computers
on the pda i just choose the IMSync or whatever it's called as profile
and start activesync on the pda click on sync over bluetooth and it does

Heres something i found...
http://help.lockergnome.com/general/Activesync-Port-Availability-Bluetooth-ftopict26563.html
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315539
thats how to delete ghost ports from your system.
I got everything NEARLY set up, i cant set a outgoing port!.
I even hard reseted, still no luck, i think i just need to set a outgoing port to get this to work.
whitemoo.

ok...after restoring my backup from the hard reset, i rebooted the phone.
Then i got side tracked and went on the XDA-developers wiki.
Seeing that 'set up your own bluetooth personal network' article, i decided to set it up.
Figuring out that the original bluetooth stack is worthless, i switched to bluesoeil and rebooted.
Bluesoeil did not work for some reason, and couldnt find my bluetooth hardware, so rebooted the phone with the normal stack.
I went into the normal stack that came with my phone, and mysteriously, i could set outgoing ports!
I set the port my outgoing port to comm0 and tried to sync.
AND IT WORKED!!...its finally syncing!
Oh btw, i found this file in my ext rom: called 'default_BT_com_port0.cab' i installed it and it allowed me to set comm0 in the normal staCK. Previously before i installed that cab, i couldnt see ANY avalible com ports to set.
YAY!...whitemoo.

Hi
Thanks for the advise there it was appreciated. I have tried the different bluetooth devices two doggles and a card all with widcomm and microsoft drivers all have not worked blue soleil wouldnt find a serial port on my phone only dUN and Push obex. I have spent ages on this now i figured it just a worhless wm5 smartphone with a keboard.. oh MS if your listening re XDA Mini factor it in to the guidebook how to sync to an everyday computer to bluetooth. You provide the function but it dont work.. crapper ive had it with this overated smartphone with a slide out keyboard. worse thing is how much i paid for it. what a rip off!! I could get an old C500 WM2003 to BT sync on all three of these BT dongle/card.
Oh well thx.. Guys glad you got a result with yours bravo' lol
Many thanks for the input.

Hi again,
I have tried to contact o2 re this matter they tell me it cant be done via activesync and bluetooth. Has any one else managed to sync an XDA min via activesync to there computer. I am running xp pro SP2, Activesync Ver. 4.1 of the cover disc with the phone. I downloaded 4.2 and 4.5Beta to make sure none work. Google searches reveal nothin g on the subject. The model i appear to have is the WIZA200 version with WM5 rom version 5.1.195 (build 14847.2.0.0).
Any clues folks
thanks.

Can anyone help me please with this problem?
Thanks.

Bluetooth sync not working!!!

:x i have been trying to get the bluetooth sync to work to no avail. i am using a 3com bluetooth usb adapter on my pc and card on my notebook. i am having problems with both when i try to synchronise. i can see my i-mate has been discovered and bonded; i can send files too. but i cannot synchronise. either there is a bug in the PDA software, or its really hard (needs a rocket scientist) to use!!! either way its dissappointing. can anyone help?
by the way my nokia and ericsson phones sync fine with my current setup.
I have the same problem using a toshiba portege 4010 with bluetooth built in, it works with my Nokia but not with the XDA i am using aytivesync 3.7.1
I would also like some help or ideas please
Thanks
John
Got bluetooth to work once
I got bluetooth to work only once using a Billionton USB Bluetooth adapter. The software is neat, but requires so much messing around with to get the PDA to actually synchronise in bluetooth mode. Unfortunately, I could not get it to work again. Should have documented what I did the first time.
After trying lots of times, it works. I sycronised a XDA2 in bluetooth mode.
There are a few important things
1. You first have to sychronise the XDA2 in USB Cradle to build a standard-partnership between desktop pc and XDA2.
2.remove the XDA2 from the Cradle.
3.look which com-port your bluetooth serial port is using
4.take these settings over to the active sync settings (must be exactly the same com port)
5. pair the two devices
6.start active sync on the XDA2 and sychronise via bluetooth
It works.....
i made a better description with screenshots (in german) but i don't know how to post it.
I use a toshiba laptop with bluetooth built in, but when i scan the available bluetooth things in the XDA 2 it only finds "voice gateway" and "SSA" or something like that, there is no serial port listed, when i scan a phone (nokia) it finds "dun" "serial port" "fax" etc etc.
So i cant connect my XDA2 as the only profiles it seems to have are Voice gateway and some SSA thing, so as there is no serial port listed i cant use activesync, i have bonded with both the voice and SSA thing to com ports from 5 to 9 and get a connection, but as its not a serial port it will not work with activesync.
Sorry for my terrible description of the problem, but if yours works i am sur e it will make sence to you
Thanks
John
Your right ! The XDA2 provides no serial port profile to my Bluetooth stick too. And thats why the Bluetooth GPS Receiver doesn't work.
I know this sounds strange, but with Active Sync Bluetooth definitely works.
Yes I finally got it to work a couple of days ago with a certain type of bluetooth usb adapter and software. All I can say, is that bluetooth is not very user friendly!!!! Activesync should have it show up just as it shows "infrared" in the connection settings. This will make it very easy to select it. In this day and age, you cannot expect a technology to be successful from mass usage if it is not totally idiot proof. BLUETOOTH is not.... WIFI will rule!!!!
Hi so have you bonded to the "ssa" profile, and then what ever com port you used you then changed activesync to use this port and it then works, because i tried this and it done not work.
I also have a tomtom bluetooth that a friend is borrowing, but by the looks of it there is no point in getting it back as if there is no serial port on the available using bluetooth that will not work either
Thanks
John
try this link. it may help u set up your bluetooth with active sync - http://www.bluetoothnews.com/features/ActiveSync.htm
@applecom
No. You just have to pair the Devices. Don't connect to any Profile.
Pair them and then start Active Sync from the XDA 2 and connect with bluetooth.
activesync and bluetooth with xda II
start > settings > system > bluetooth settings > Activesync over blutooth (START)
Nutty but there you go.
XDA II Bluetooth ActiveSync
I noted if you add or change the registry will work even better :
\HLKM\SOFT\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Activesync
IsBTASsetup from 0 to 1
Hi
I have changed the registry like you said, But how dose it work better, the only problems i have are when i ask activesync on the XDA to connect over BT it oftern trys and says port in use, i just retry a few times and it works. After doing the reg edit it did connect first time, but is this what you ment by "its works better"
Thanks
John
As this my first ever post, I don't want to come over as smug, but I took delivery of my XDA 2 today and it synced using bluetooth after about 25 minutes of 'messing'!
All I did was delete all the bonding between the PC and the XDA and told it to sync via bluetooth, initiating from the XDA, I thought that it had failed...but then the XDA sprang to life and 'Bob was my uncle'!!
Very impressed with my XDA 2, having used an XDA for about 8 months.
Andy.
Bluetooth Sync
What I meant was it has become easier to get XDA II sync via bluetooth. Please note that you have to unpair your PC first then change the registry and pair again. If your PC's Bluetooth dongle support Headset profile ( I used anycom USB220 which has this profile) you will see your XDA II asking you if you want Headset profile added and Activesync screen for bluetooth appeared as well. Changing the registry will always make the sync work is what i noted. Seems like XDA II Bluetooth supports many profile just that dont know how to make it works.
Bluetooth Activesync problems
I'm on the verge of giving up on this! Think I should stick to USB sync...here goes...
I've tried the tricks mentioned in the forum to try to get my XDA II to sync via bluetooth with my Sony VAIO laptop (it has built-in bluetooth). I can get the two devices to bond (I enter the PIN number on both the laptop and XDA and it succeeds) but then I try to run the Bluetooth Activesync setup (in Settings-->Bluetooth Settings on the XDA) I get an error message every time that says "Please bond with other Bluetooth device which supports serial port or Activesync profile as your Activesync partner!"
I thought I already HAD bonded the devices? Any ideas?
Cheers
Carlton
Finally sorted it out. Delete the partnership that you already have. Start from start>settings>system>Bluetooth Settings. When you clik start, then pair your device again. After the pairing, you will get the message that Bluetooth Active Sync is now ready.
Still no joy
Thanks for your help Merc.
I tried doing exactly what you suggested but still doesn't work. This is what happens:
I deleted the existing bond on both XDA II and PC.
I went to start>settings>system>Bluetooth Settings and clicked on Start. This gave me the message "Please bond with other Bluetooth device which supports serial port or Activesync profile as your Activesync partner!" like before, then automatically opened the Bluetooth connections control panel in the "Mode" pane. I chose 'Discoverable' and clicked OK. I then went to my PC and used the Wireless Link control panel and clicked 'Add' (to run Bluetooth connection wizard) which searched for devices. It found my XDA II and I entered the passkey on both XDAII and PC (same passkey on each).
The Bluetooth connection wizard then told me that the XDAII was offering DUN (dial up networking) services. I selected this and then clicked next. Was I supposed to select this (actually, it made no difference when I tried again without selecting!).
The wizard completed and both the PC and XDAII notified me that the bond was successful. I then waited and waited for something else to 'happen' (like a message to say that Bluetooth Active Sync is now ready.) but nothing happened. I gave it a couple of minutes.
I went to Activesync on the XDA and tried the 'connct with Bluetooth' just in case it had worked, but nothing happened. I went to Activesync on the PC and tried using a different COM port for infrared/serial links (as I assume this is what bluetooth uses) but no joy. I only had COM3 and COM4 showing in the connection settings in activesync, which surprised me as I thought there would be more.
That's it. I tried 3 times but still no luck. Any other ideas are greatly appreciated!
Cheers
Carlton
The
Your procedure is just like mine. But I used "On" and discovered the PC from the PDA. Do not use "Discoverable". Let me hear if you have any luck
The only way I have got it to work is assigning the bluetooth serial port to COM 6. Then set Activesync on the desktop to COM 6.
Any other COM port just won't work. Anybody else got it working on a different bluetooth COM port?

Newbee: How to install WidComm? And dose it work?

Now I have been looking for 2 days on this forum, and I cant find it anywhere!!
Okay, I would like to be in my bed with my PDA, and surf the internet.
I dont have a Bluetooth dongle my self, by the guy next to me has. And I have permision to use his internet connection. (Less than 10 meters away, it about 3-4 meters).
So one problem is that I cant use the BT Active Sync, to surf the internet (I dont know if this is how it is done), like you can surf while the XdaII is in the cradel.
So I have been surfing around, and I think I need the WidComm BT stack to be able to surf the internet over BT. But how is this done. I have downloadet files, and read alot on this forum, but I cant seem to find any install guide those cab files and other thing to the PDA.
And then I have read about alot of users that has had problems with the WidComm stack, and say that the M$ BT stack can do the same in the latest update, but I cant find the settings, it all looks the same.
So if any one can help a XdaII (or PDA) newbee, with an install guide and some of your sugestions for the networking, then I would be realy happy.
BTW, if you also know how to set up an audio gateway on the PDA (for my head set) then that wold be great as well. And maby to get the button on the headset to do M$ voice command (if you have it install), then that would be fantastic.
Try downloading bluetooth tools and see if that works for you.
http://bluetooth.i-networx.de/index_e.html
I did that, but it did not change to much, it only gave me a "call last number" function in the head set, but not any thing with the network
BT and COM
i am having a hard time with it as well, I have win XP pro, and a sitecom USB BT dongle, the drivers for the dongle dont seem to work, it is has if the XP drivers have taken over, all the guides seem to use settings that are not available to the Windows XP BT drivers,
at one point i thought i got it, instead of connecting my XDA to the PC i did it the other way about. This time windows detected and setup some COM ports, although at the moment its at com 13 and 14
(this can be changed by doing to Device manager, selecting the port, properties, advanced, and changing it to whatever you want, it will say the port is in use, but none of the other ports 1-12 are infact in use (although it says they are) not sure if this will generate further problems?
So i think thats the PC side sorted?
now the PDA side, just before i updated PPC2003 i tried this and it didnt work, i then installed those BT tools and it came up with the cool servies page right at the end of setting up a link.
But didn't work, with hindsight i believe it would work if i had connect as i explained above, adding the XDA to the PC.
I then updated PPC2003 useing o2's updater.
setting up a link using the BT settings right after the update did have some extra settings to do with com ports but it still doesnt work and the connect via BT on activesync isnt there.
Then i tried those BT tools everyone is going on about
i get the BT icons on the desktop but thats it, nothing else happens. The cool services screen fails to pop up after setting the link and the connect via BT in sync is also missing.
this might be of no use but at one point useing standard drivers from XP and PPC2003 SP1 i did get a message saying it couldnt connect because it might not be a smart phone or PPC or somthing like that. im totally stuffed with this.
oh it does connect in that i can transfer files TO the XDA but not the other way about.
Hello folks!
This is how I've done it...
1- I installed Widcomm version 1.3.2.7 (on the PC) (BTW I use a Cheap-o-Epox USB dongle)
2- I Downloaded BT Tools (http://bluetooth.i-networx.de/index_e.html)
3- I established an Activesync connection through Bluetooth (this is done on the PocketPC by using the Activesync/Tools/Connect via 'computername')
4- I configured Widcomm to always trust the incoming MDA2 Bluetooth connection.
5- That's it, works every time... (well actually sometimes works on the second try but works nonetheless)
Good luck!
Rayan
I've also had some success with the Widcomm stack, but I have one problem.
In order for the bluetooth connection to work, I need to log into an account on the XP machine. If someone else then comes along and logs into another account, then my bluetooth connection is dropped. Also, if I don't log into an account, then I can't use bluetooth.
Basically, it seems to be the case that instead of running as a service, the bluetooth stack is running in user accounts. Anyone else got experience with this? Is there a way to configure the installation so that it runs as a service?
Hi Guys,
I have a similar question... is there a release due / tools available to fully utulise the bluetooth stack like the ipaqs for example. Ipaqs can locate and connect to devices as a 'hunter' but the XdaII just seems to be the 'hunted' when it comes to establishing a connection. Is there any way to make my otherwise excellent XdaII a bit more agressive when it comes to seeking out bluetooth connections??? I have already installed the Bluetooth tools v1.01 but this doesn't help the actual 'seeking' connectivity part of things
Can any of you bright sparks out there help ???? If enough people wanted this functionality, what would it cost to develop if it is not available maybe ???
just a thought. Cheers all.

I found the answer to how to install the .cab file, just copy it to your device and select it in file manager, it then install's itself.
If I manage to connect my GTek 2020 to my BT AP with this I'll let you know!

blue tooth acitvesync difficulites

I have recently installed a bluetooth dongle to my desktop (Smart mdular Tech USB short range wireless). Try as I might, and I've read all the entries from other users for configs, short cuts, tricks - the lot - I still cannot get bluetooth active sync to work. The only thing I haven't tried is hard reset of my xda, which I am reluctant to do for severa reasons. To add insult to injury, now my pocket outlook and pocket IE will not recognise the GPRS connection and will not download. Any suggestions would be extremely helpful. Cheers. Guts

have you followe these guides ?
when you say xda you mean xda2 right ?
The blue tooth dongle and XP sp2 are working - I've downloaded the appropriate drivers. The systems are paired - and I've continually tried the procedures for activating the bt activesync - I receive the same default message from my (yes, it is an) XDA 2. I have gone back through again to double check my settings, still no luck. Guts
i had a problem like that when i installed some version of vidcomm when i removed it anything worked just fine
you have to rebound with the pc of cause
and make sure that activesync is set to use the com port that the bluetooth is set to incomming

Magneto and I: The first week

The following should give users an idea what they are in for if they decide to take the plunge...
It happened again. Out of the blue, my XDAII froze, then turned itself off. I closed my eyes and there it was, this terrible electric 'bling bling' sound. I didn't have to open my eyes to confirm that another hardreset had just happened on my XDAII. No particular reason. As if my XDA wanted to tease me, it had just decided to clear everything in its memory, all installed programs. And now? installing everything again? when there was no insurance that it wouldn't hardreset itself again?
No, I said to myself, not this time. I opened the file explorer on my PC and did what I thought I would never do: I started the upgrade to install Magneto or better known as Windows Mobile 2005 on my XDAII.
When I downloaded the Magneto files, I thought to myself that I would just keep them for storing. You never know. One hardreset later and suddenly Magneto sounded like a godsent to me.
The upgrade went smooth, very smooth in fact. Before the upgrade I deleted the extended rom files and storage files. Maybe that helped.
All OK? Not quite. I could not connect to my PC and activesync via USB. Everything worked well via Bluetooth, but USB? No chance. I found out that it had something to do with XP and not having the servicepack 2 installed. Well, no choice. Goodbye USB sync. I could live with that since I still had bluetooth.
Once I had Magneto running, I started installing my standard programs. Most of them worked. The only one that did not was WorldMatePro. OK, I tried to live without it.
I installed most of the programs into Storage. They all worked. I even tried to install some of them into Buzz' RAM disk. A few worked as well, some couldn't be installed there. Well, I anyway planned to use the RAm disk for storage.
I was actually surprised that XCPU_Scalar worked. Well, even Magneto is now overclocked to 530 MHZ on my XDAII.
I also installed PocketZenPhone and Pocketbreeze. Somewhere I had read that these programs would not run on Magneto. But no issues on my machine! They both worked. The only issue I have with Pocketbreeze is that the category icons & colors are gone. Pocketweather also worked fine. Again, I was surprised that Magneto was so compatible.
Unfortunately, PocketContacts was a dead-end. "No contacts found" was the only message I ever got from it. Goodbye PocketContacts.
I had a few more programs in my folder on the PC, but the memory on my XDAII with Magneto is limited. Very limited. Very very limited in fact. But for me not such a big issue as I do not have too much necessary software on my XDA. I could live with this limitation for time being.
Anyway, I wanted to try Magneto for a week and see if I stayed with my new friend.
After I made the first few phone calls with Magneto I was impressed with the dialer. Nice interface. Also, it seems to me that the phone connects much quicker to the provider than before.
But why didn't they include something like the intellidialer? Well, the new contacts application is quite nice, so I will use the contacts instead. Not too bad.
Then, on day three, the disaster. Suddenly, the screen stopped reacting. Well, it actually didn't stop, it just didn't react to the places where I touched it with the pen.
I was already thinking about "hardreset", when it came to me that the screen orientation was wrong.
I had installed Vitobuttonmapper and mapped <rotate screen> to the record button as press and <start bluetooth> as press & hold. I figured out that I must have pressed the record button not long enough, therefore the <rotate screen> command was executed. But somehow, the screen orientation remained in Portrait but the touch screen was now in landscape.
I managed to fix this problem by changing back to Portrait and making a softreset. Then I tried to repeat this error. Yepp, the <rotate screen> was the culprit.
Consequently, my Magneto has no screen rotation anymore. But I can also live with this.
The rest of the week went fine. Magneto is stable and smooth.
Now the final question: Will I stay with Magneto? Yes, I will. I am often travelling and therefore I need a device that I can rely on. If I'm on the road and my XDA hardresets, I'm dead. Therefore Magneto is the solution for me. No hardresets, and even if the battery goes dead, I'm safe.
But one thing is clear to me. When the first Magneto devices come out, and hopefully there will be the Magician with Magneto, I will immediately retire my XDAII and buy one of these devices. Magneto is the future. No doubt about it.
What do I like the most about it besides the "goodbye hardresets"? for sure the softbuttons. Just great!
I hope this was useful.
Cheers
Pat
Hmmm.... Interesting.... Very, very interesting!!!!
I think I'll try Magneto real soon... However, I have a question: Is it possible to return to 2.06.00WWE just in case?
Thanks for such detailed story!

I have the same problem. But let me just say that I have 2 harddrives on my PC. Both with Win XP + SP2. I tried to synch Magneto on the harddrive I frequently use but it DOESN'T work... So I tried booting my 2nd harddrive. This 2nd harddrive has a fresh installation of Win XP + SP2 and other essential utilities like Office suite, WinZIP, etc.
And guess what...activesync 4.0 using USB WORKED using my 2nd harddrive. Very ODD...

YES it is possible to return to 2.06.00WWE...I have done exactly that.
I have been running Magneto for about 1.5 weeks. And I must say it's GREAT! But as you know it's just a leaked version so it has a LOT of bugs. So I've decided to go back to 2.06.00WWE until Magneto is more stable/reliable.
How to configure Connect via bluetooth ?
I done the WM2005 installation and i manage to connect via USB with everthing sync. But i like to know how you can setup the activesyc via bluetooth ? I own a Level One bluetooth dongle and i did try to connect via bluetooth in WM2003 before i upgrade to SE. Now in Wm 2005, i still have no luck to get it work. Help !!!
I m using Windows 2003 and had configure Comm 5 in ActiveSync 4.0, added bluetooth serial port 5 in widcomm drivers. And also i pair my XDA2 with my machine several time to make sure it is paired. I try everthing include try to do file transfer from my deskop also no luck.
Btw, i can't discover any ActiveSync service in "My Bluetooth Places", i can only see "Dial up networking, Push Object". I do c actvesync in WM 2003.
Everytime i choose "Connect Via Bluetooth", will get this message "Cannot find an existing Bluetooth partnership with a PC that supports ActiveSync. Would you like to set up a patnership now ?" Yes/No button. But i had done the pairing before that ?
please help.
Change "Secure Connection" to "Not Required"?
Works for me, without Magneto (yet)

I've got the same problems with activesync via Bluetooth. My device doesn't seem to recognise the Activesync service on my Sitecom Bluetooth device.
With 2003SE I didn't have any problems. Madkat's proposal didn't work.
Update to WM5
You are lucky, I was tryed whole last night but fail, it always give me the message "Error 101 - Connection error". USB connection is very good, I could do everything with cable
Re: Update to WM5
I have got the same problem connecting bluetooth adaptor D-Link DBT-120 with o2xda2 running on 2k3 not se. Anybody help?

Re: How to configure Connect via bluetooth ?
Thanks everyone for the solution. I had to revert back to 2003SE by Xdajojo version, because 2005 did not connect with usb or bluetooth adapter. activesync 4.0 does not seem to work properly on my device (O2 XDA2). I changed back to activesync 3.8 and worked properly with 2003SE. I can even go on internet using activesync. Also I have TOMTOM 3.0 Bluetooth version wich did not install on 2005. I will wait until proper stabilised version of 2005 is released by xda-developers team.

Problem with Bluetooth: After sync, I cant enable it anymore

Hi,
at first: i already did a hard reset... didnt help.
so to the topic: when i am syncing my device with active sync everything works fine. then i disable bluetooth on the touch dual.
after doing this, i cant enable it again, whether in the connection manager nor in the settings table for bluetooth. it spends 10-20 seconds with doing anything but then jumps back to "off". then i have to restart my touch dual and after that i can enable bluetooth normally --- till i sync the next time.
has anybody got a clue, why this is happening?
has anybody the same problem?
no ideas? anyone?
lastpush for today, its midnight now here in germany ;-)
good night
I too have a similar problem like yours all of a sudden I can no longer sync with bluetooth properly for some bizzare reasons it connects and it just hangs can't do anything i.e browse files or tranfer on dual however it works fine via USB but with bluetooth it has mind of it's own it just work now and then, sometimes I have to wait at 20 minutes for it to sync properly weird
Tried everything re-boot, re-paired the device, system restore, did hard reset on dual, re-installed WMDC 6.1 even to the point downgraded to WMDC 6.0 still now joy!!!
Can't fathom what's wrong!! it was working fine couple days ago did not install any new apps on my laptop and I have a Microsoft Bluetooth stack as it's well know that WMDC has issues with other bluetooth stacks i.e. toshiba, widcomm etc... this WMDC is driving me nuts!!!!
Any tips would be appreciated I'm almost giving up! getting used to the old fashioned USB sync.
Running Vista Ultimate if that helps!
i will get a new touch dual on saturday or monday next week. i then can tell you, if its a problem with the touch dual or with the pc you connect to..
but for testing you could try to send some big files over bluetooth from your touch dual to another bluetooth phone.
I've got some problems just with the Toshiba BT drivers on my laptop... it seems that the Serial Port Profile is not recognized as "Active sync" connection in the BT device manager on the Dual. I have to change the serial port in Active Sync on the laptop (to a wrong one), change again to the right port (com7) and then refresh the services for my laptop in the BT device manager on my phone. After that the sync works again...
I've tried with Microsoft BT drivers and it works fine ! Somethimes i have to stop BT on both pc and Dual, and start it again....dunno why...
I've reinstalled the Toshiba BT drivers because on my laptop with M$ drivers i can't able to shutdown the BT device... so i have to switch the com port and refresh the services everytime.... a little bit tricky but it works...
Regards,
Raid.
well but in my htc touch dual i cant swith bluetooth on after syncing *g*
i always have to soft reset
is there any registry trick or something i could try?
Bluetooth issues here, too!
Please advise if this is a known feature.
I only got my Touch Dual yesterday. So far seems a great device. However, I can not get it to turn on the bluetooth at all!
Everytime I try it says bluetooth error!
I can't pair with anything at all.
Many thanks for any help.
well now we are four people with the same problem...
I think we have to wait till the first rom update, or a custom rom...
I emailed HTC support - their suggestion is that I try a hard reset - not done yet.
If no luck with the reset then it might be an electronics issue! If so it will be a discussion with Orange to get fixed.
I will update you on progress...
Well, I can confirm, as expected that the Hard Reset did nothing at all!
A new phone is on its way to me apparently...!
i have same problem with you..i had hard reset but bluetooth still did'nt work...i had hardSPL, change radio and ROMs but the problem still exist...
