COM OPEN ERROR when starting USB in WirelessModem - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

I have been trying to establish a USB Wireless Modem connection between my laptop PC running XP Pro and my MDA Pro, but as soon as I hit the start button it gives the "COM OPEN ERROR" message in the MDA and the PC says it cannot identify the USB device. I already disabled ActiveSync and there are no Port conflicts (my PC do not response my MDA GPRS modem)
What can I do to solve this problem?
Thanks in advantage.

There are two ways that I use to get around that error:
1) Have ur Universal turned off; and then connect it to your computer.
2) If your Universal is turned on, do the following:
a. turn on "wireless modem" app, and then choose "Bluetooth" or "IrDA" for connection type
b. Press "Start" and then "stop"
c. then rechoose "USB" as the connection type, and press "start"
d. connect your Universal to your computer.
hope this helps.

Try this first start wireless modem app. then activate it and then connect it to ur laptop & make sure the setting in M$ Activesync to connect via usb cable is unchecked .

Vario II does not connect with ActiveSync

Hi... something happended with my Vario II or PC. Now when I connect my Vario II to the USB port, ActiveSync cant find it ('Not Connected') and Windows says: 'USB Device not Recognized'. I reinstalled all software that came with the Vario II, but its now working... Anyone help me, please!!!
Hi Jannen,
I've seen this before - but it usually cures itself after a PC and phone reboot (I would guess you have done this already. The issue appears to be either Windows USB host, your phone or the cable/connections on your USB cable.
I would suggest you try the following and see what happens...
1. On the TyTN goto Start > Settings > Connections > USB to PC - change the setting here from what it currently is.
2. Try a different USB cable if you have one.
3. Try a different USB port on the PC. Possibly on a different USB host if you can do that.
4. On Windows goto Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager - look at the error appearing in the Universal Serial Bus Controllers. This might help identify the problem. Also try re-installing the drivers from here.
5. On the TyTN goto Start > Programs > Accessories > Wireless Modem - ensure this is not active. I think it automatically stops when you exit Wireless Modem but it does change the USB behaviour.
6. Install the latest ActiveSync program on your PC. I'm currently using 4.1 and 4.5 BETA and both are Ok. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/activesync/default.mspx
Post the response you see to each of the above and it will help diagnose and hopefully fix your issue.
Gav.
Works finally!
Thanks for your help! But took a while to sort it! I tried all those steps, again and again, with no result. I even updated the Active Sync etc. But after a soft boot of my Vario II - its finally working! No idea where the problem was though, one of those Windows mysteries is my guess.... :/
Thanks again!!!

unable to connect my sgs with a usb connection

when i connect my phone with a usb connection, there is an MTP application window that keeps flashing, this window just keeps opening and closing and on my pc i receive this message : installing device driver software
MTP USB Device - Failed
why is this happening?
Have you installed the USB Drivers that comes with KIES? if not do it.
If you want to just use normal mode then goto settings/about/usb/external drive . Then when you connect to pc you goto notifications on andrioid and select USB icon then Mount.

Yu Yureka USB Connection Problem

Since many guys are not able to connect their yureka phone to PC so for them this thread might be helpful. I was also facing the same problem, even USB computer connection setting was not popping up. So following are the steps to resolve that problem.
1. Go to Settings -> About Phone -> Tap several times on Build Number to enable developer Options if you haven't enabled it yet.
2. Now You can see one setting titled "{ } Developer options" under Settings Menu. Tap on developer options and enable "Android Debugging".
3. Now connect your phone to PC via USB cable. Now You will see that your phone is successfully connected for debugging. Now without disconnection your phone from PC, go to settings->Storage->Menu (Three vertical Dots at top right corner of the screen). Now click on "USB computer connection", now the usb setting pop up will come. Now enable Media Device (MTP) checkbox.
4. Now you are ready to access your internal and external sd cards of your phone. Enjoy

- When connect to other android the pop-up show but can not choose other option (pic 2)
- I tried download mode connect Odin, but no signal of connection with PC
- When I boot to recovery to choose flash adb, screen show "unable to open sysfs usb node (No such file or directory). Trying configfs.....(pic 3)
Could you please advise us how I could do to fix the error
Mny thanks,
Type the following sequence on your phone's dial pad *#0808#
The USB settings on your phone should come up. Try selecting MTP+ADB and see what results you get.
You should try other type C cable..
