Release Date for Tmobile in US - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Anyone know when Tmobile will be releasing the MDA Vario II in U.S.?

What's the point? T-mobile lacks compatible 3G capabilities in the US...

will my hermes work on Tmobiles 3G in the u.s?

i was reading this article and it said it wouldnt work..
Where are you getting 3G for T-mobile in the US? I only heard it was in NYC at the moment.
Sadly, the answer is most likely not.
T-Mobile is deploying 3G service on the 1700 MHz UMTS band, which the Hermes, and a lot of other phones, can not use.
My confusion is that T-Mobile USA has submitted the Kaiser for approval to the FCC, and the manual that comes with it lists the Kaiser as supporting 1700… in the Japanese version.
So are they using a modified Japanese version, or releasing it as a EDGE-only phone (which would be a mistake IMO), or something else? I sure don’t know, but I’m expecting to have to replace my beloved hermes with something else if I want to make use of the upcoming 3G.

After they fully release 3G, I hope that T-Mobile USA ventures into getting the Raphael since they NEED a good flagship of a phone in their lineup. AT&T already has the Kaiser and iPhone (not a fan, but it's a popular phone though)
But I'll be patient. I have 1 more year before I'm eligible for an upgrade, hopefully they'll have something worth it by then...
Answer
Absolutely not. It wont now and it wont in the future., T-Mo uses 1700 and at&t uses 2100. They will not interchange because neither side wants the others users sucking up they're bandwidth. Do not expect to see 3q dual band handsets that are "intended" for the US anytime soon.

Well, that's subject to a bunch of things, while AT&T may not want "T-Mobile Customers sucking up their bandwidth", EDGE is pretty fast in comparison to some DSL connections and the vast majority of T-Mobile customers get their service through AT&T towers. So, in a way, T-Mobile customers are already sucking up AT&T's bandwidth. Once quadband UMTS chipsets become common, or T-Mobile decides to abandon its 1700mhz plans, I'm sure that AT&T and T-Mobile will reach a roaming agreement just like they did with GSM/EDGE

Sounds like the best plan for them to come to their senses...This would be our best hope!

Topaz TD2 - USA - 3G network

Hi,
So it seems rumored that the TD2 will be available for ATT Wireless later this year (Aug/Sept). so that means there must be a 3G/1900 band version out there today right?
Does anyone know where I can purchase one? all the ones on Ebay are the Eu/Asia bands and not the ATT 3G 1900 band.
Hope I got all that right and it makes sence!
PS: I did play with a TD2 at a microsoft event last week and loved it.
As you already said:

Is the UK O2 Dell Streak fully compatible with all US AT&T bands - GSM & UMTS??

Is the UK O2 Dell Streak fully compatible with all US AT&T bands - GSM & UMTS??
Hello,
I was wondering if the UK O2 Dell Streak is fully compatible with all US AT&T bands - GSM & UMTS??
Specifically can it handle 850/1900 UMTS?
Thanks.
no they can not handle att 3g bands. the only streak with att's 3g is the beta att streaks witch have been blacklisted. you will only get 2g using att with the o2 phone.

Samsung Vibrant for use in Singapore

Hi,
I am kinda new to the android phone and need some advice about Samsung Vibrant.
Is it possible to fully use the phone, including HSPA, after unlock in other countries, such as Singapore ?
Anybody has ever tried this ?
Btw, I am on M1 network.
I understand there's difference in GSM band and 3G band among countries.
Personally I prefer Samsung Vibrant than the Singapore's Galaxy S I9000 because it's relatively cheaper (no secondary camera, which I don't need), and it has 4 soft buttons.
Thanks for your advice.
From what I can tell, it appears that M1 in Singapore uses the 2100/1900 bands for down/up. This is very typical of most European mobile phones, and luckily, all the T-Mobile US 3g smartphones also include these frequencies.
So simply, yes, it will (from what it appears with the info I can find) work on the 3g networks in your home country.
I am typing this from Singapore on my unlocked vibrant, using a local prepaid SIM from Starhub. 3g speeds are great.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Hi,
Thank you all for the quick reply, it's really helpful
T-Mobile Vibrant here in Japan on NTT Docomo with H and 3G working like a charm.

[Q] unlock for Bell Canada 3g?

Hi
Got the UK version of Streak which works on Rogers (EDGE only) and has 2.2 froyo.
Wondering if anyone knows if an unlock will appear anytime to allow device to be used on Bell 3g network?

You'll be dissappointed what I am going to tell you
Even though you are able to get your UK version Streak unlocked, you will not be able to have 3G on Bell network.
Why? Because of different frequencies....
>> Rogers/Telus/Bell 3G requires 850/1900 frequencies, and
>> the 3G on your UK version Streak is using 900/2100 frequencies.
However, the good news is that if you want to use 3G on Rogers/Telus/Bell, you need the unlocked version (come with froyo 2.2) of AT&T that is available for sale only on Dell.com. Maybe, you can also get it from ebay.
