Wallaby Siemens sx56 unlock - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

I have read many posts on this site that pertain to unlocking the Wallaby.
I have not actually tried it yet becuase I read that the XDAtools does not work on a wallaby without wmodem.exe. I happen to have a unit that seems to old for the XDAtool unlock and I want to make sure I have this straight.
The Wallaby is:
ROM Version: A.30.09 ENG (upgraded from ppc2002)
ROM date: 01/01/04
Radio version: A.20.10
Protocol version: 324e4
Model No.: PW10B1
Thanks,
Kevin

Unlocking T-mobile Pocket PC

Hello,
I have purchased just last week T-mobile pocket PC in the US, however now I am back at my home (Eastern Europe) where we use GSM (Alcatel)
The following is rom and radio version:
Rom version: 3.14.40 ENG
ROM date: 11/26/02
Radio Version: 6.18
Protocol version: 324e4
My question is what do I need to unlock this to work with my GSM company. When I paid for this ($625) I paid a phone withouth service activation.
Regards,
Bucky
Hy.
Why don't you try this question in the unlocking-section?
Why don't you read the other tasks in this section?
To unlock your T-Mobile pocket PC you need a serial cable to connect your PC with your PDA and the XDA-Manipulator-software from www.xda-developers.com
An other problem that exists will be the different GSM frequencies. As you have in USA 1900MHz you'll have in europe 900/1800Mhz. But i'm not sure if this is really so. You have to take a look at your provider (Alcatel)
Regards
Stefan
Stefan, thank you very much for your prompt reply.
However, I have been reading that the unlocked versions of T-mobile
had a Radio Version 3* or 4*, and the RADIO VERISION on my T-mobile is 6.18, thus I am not sure if this software will work out or not.
Please reply as soon as possible if you know the answer to this one.
Hey Bucky.
Most people hav Radio VErsion 3* oder 4* becuase this are european Radio Versions.
The US VErsions have othe numbers like your 6* .....
Like the posting of a XDA Developer the manipulater should work with all available Radio VErsions.
Just try it......
I see. However when I read the xda manipulator, the developers say that they have tried this only on radio version 4.06 and 4.10
Quote: " We've tested this on Radio version 4.06 and 4.10. If you dare, please let us know if you find it to work on other radio versions".
I didn't find any message that someone tried with Radio version 6.18
Do you know anyone that has tried this on US versions of T-mobile?
We have reports of succesful unlocking on US versions as well. XDAmanipulator will work with any radio version.
Peter
Hey just to add I have been one of them. You have pretty much all the same settings as mine. Just follow the instruction on the manipulators site and it will work fine. You will be done in seconds.

Has anybody figured out how to unlock this?
Has anyone tried to downgrade the ROM and the Radio stack to see if this the XDAUnlock works.
I'm curious to see if I will run into Radio Stack problems if I attempt to do that.

i tried xda unlock, but it says error getting unlock code... what will i do now... im badly in need of some expert help here...
then you need to flash your ROM with SER v 1.2 which will unlock your device with the first boot
I'm trying to unlock my old XDA, I have foolwed the instructions given on this site but nothing seems to work......HELP!!!!!
The device information is as follows:
ROM version: 3.17.03 ENG
ROM date: 05/15/03
Radio version: 4.20.00
Protocol version: 32554
Trying it via the USB sync.
Any suggestions??
Unlocking XDA 1
I have read and read and read the forum on how to unlock my XDA 1 (XDA II was a sinch!) but the XDA 1 is causing problems. I started with the error below and tried upgrading my ROM - getting error messages on not being able to unlock and that I needed W Modem.
Can upgrade using SER 1.2 without a unix box, then unlock all using the USB cradle?
Hope someone can explain in even more simple terms
Appreciate it!
I notice that ser 1.2 works with TMobile in the USA but doesnt say anything about ATT Wireless.
Should I infer that the ser 1.2 isnt a good idea then?
My PocketPCPE is :
ROM:A.30.09
Rom Date: 01/01/04
Radio version: A.33.02
Protocol version: 1.3.3
Unit is a wallaby PW10B1
Thanks for any advice you can give.
Flash your xda using ser 1.2, this will unlock the xda, I suggest backing up your existing rom to sd card or using xdatools, once you have flashed the xda you can then restore your original rom using the sd card method. Using sd card method overcomes any country id/incompatible rom errors.
A Unix box is not needed, just a standard pc.
Flashing with SE1.2 isn't always enough. I've got an XDA-1 from T-Mobile that shipped with the following:
ROM 4.01.16ENG
RS 6.25.02
Flashing it to SE1.2 worked fine, but the XDAUnlock gave same "Error...unlock code" msg others have seen.
I'm very hesitant to get into RS flashing (for obvious reasons) but there really doesn't seem to be any other way around it in this case. Then again, I worry even that won't really solve the problem (e.g. if I go back to 6.25.02 RS won't the problem potentially just return?).
Hoping for some help unlocking it without RS flashing.
You could try xda manipulator and a serial cable, otherwise I think radio stack will need to be changed, before doing ANYTHING with the radio stack please read on this forum all the problems you may encounter, hopefully there will be a solution for you among these pages.

Step-by-Step instructions to unlock Siemens SX-56 (no cable)

This is site is excellent. I'm very impressed. There is a wealth of information here. I wasn't able, however, to find the answers I was looking for as of yet, so please help if you can...
I have two Siemens SX56 PDA Phones.
Both have ROM version: A.30.09 ENG.
Both have ROM date of: 01.01.2004
Both have Radio version: A.33.02
I would like to use XDAunlock.
I see that my ROM is too new for it to work.
Can I safely do the following in this order?
1. Overwrite the ROM with XDA developers Special Edition ROM v1.2
2. Unlock with XDAunlock
3. ReOverwrite the XDA SER v1.2 with the AT&T ROM A.30.09 ENG
Am I missing any steps here?
I will lose all my data and need to backup first right?
My PDA is just a "PC" and all my AT&T account data is on the SIM right?
Thank you for all your help.

Siemens SX-56 Upgrade

Hi all,
I'm a newbie as you will probably be able to tell shortly from my question below. I recently purchased and upgraded my Siemens SX-56 from the xdadevelopers special edition rom to a wm2003 I cooked at lumpistefan's rom kitchen. The upgrade was smooth as a baby's butt. Now, I have read about radio stack upgrades in this forum but I have no idea what RSU is. Do I need to do a RSU? If so, I would like to know how or be pointed in the right direction. I really read the forums and search for answers so please do not refer me to the search engine. The current device info is now:
Rom Version: 4.01.16 ENG
Rom Date: 2/4/04
Radio Version: A.20.10
Protocol Version: 324e4
Thanks in advance.
if your gsm works DONT mess with the rsu radiostack
it's the embedded software controlling the gsm part of the xda
and if it crash or make ones xda turn into the EU gsm system or US gsm depending on where one is located then one is in for a world of trouble
sx56
Thanks, my phone works fine so I will let sleeping dogs lie. One question...if the phone works, does that mean my gsm is working?
