Pocketmax Phonealarm 1.54 problem - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Phonealarm 1.54 is superb, but it's casuing me a very annoying problem, and I don't know why:
I like to have my phone set to "Vibrate" at all time. By that, I mean clicking the little speaker at the top of all WM5 devices and where you get the 2 sliders for volume of device and phone, at the bottom it has "On", "Vibrate" and "Off".
However since I installed Phonealarm my phone always reverts back to "On" - but I can't seem to work out why, there's no pattern to it - sometimes it just sits there on Vibrate, then next time I use the phone it's back to On. I can't seem to work out if things like going into the Phonealarm setup menu causes it, or clicking an alert in Phonealarm, or whatever - it just seems that after a while it'll revert to "On" without me asking it to, and it's only been happening since I installed Phonealarm.
Any ideas?

phoneAlarm 1.54
Its hard to say with this programme. The developer has built so much into this excellent app for so may devices, there always seems to be one problem or another. I would post a question in the support forum (www.pocketmax.net). Bruce (the developer) is pretty responsive. He may ask you to send a log ad he will try and fix in next version. I am waiting for 1.55, due out on the next few days
Regards
Chris

I believe you need to put the option to vibrate in all profiles. For exampe in the settings screen, if you go to a particular profile then click on sms notification you need to tick the vibrate option. To get it working on the ring tone as well set the ring option in profiles to "Vibrate and Ring". Remember to do this for all alerts for all profiles!

A way to have alarm sound when on silent/vibrate?

Maybe there is a way to do this, but I'm not aware - does anyone know of a way to enable alarm even when teh phoen is on vibrate or on silent? (this came to me because I set the phone to silent and forgot to turn I was late for work today)
enAlarmPPC
When you mean an application for alarms, then you should really take a look at enAlarmPPC. You can simply force a volume, and it will play sound even if in "vibrate" or "mute".
awesome... I think that's exactly what I need. Thanks
i use vibrate mode all the time, but don't like the fact that it silences your phone. But this is what i have found:
Instead of going into vibrate mode through comm manager or through a "profile" (like from the HTC Touch Today plugin), go to settings and then select Sounds and Notifications. Select Notification tab, and from the drop down menu select Phone: Incoming call and select vibrate. When you do this, your phone vibrate when there is an incoming call but is not silenced for other functions of the phone like alarms, music, etc.
Disadvantage is that it is not 1 simple step, so if you back and forth between ring and vibrate it is not ideal, but if you set it on vibrate all the time like me, it is ideal.

You could probably Mortscript it...
yea, the thing is I always change to vibrate when I'm at work/quiet areas and I'd liek to have a simple profile change button that changes it to a vibrate + ringer.

Give PhoneAlarm a try! Then you can create profiles.
I agree, PhonaAlarm solves it all!!

Are these options even availble?

Well I took the phone out of the house for the first time today. And all I can say it, how annoying it was being.
Is there anyway to stop the phone going of everytime is switching services (3G, HSDPA, GPRS etc) Everytime that stopped, swapped or got activated my phone went off. I was constantly checkingn it thinking I had mail or sms's, it was driving me mad
How can I get my phone to vibrate while on loud? Even though its on loud, its quite hard to hear when your out. But then if I put it on vibrate and I go inside, sometimes I dont feel it go off while walking or sitting down.
Any solutions?
Oh, and how do I set .mp3's as ringtones/alarm tones/sms tones etc. Can I only use the ones in the list?
The "Search" button is your best friend in here...why don't you give it a try first
Yeh I just get loads of random results for other phones.
I tried a few things but they didnt work
Edit: repeat post
I know this isn't much help but on my stock rom I managed to turn these off, it wasn't anything special it was in a menu somewhere, where I could stop it notifying me, so it is possible. Im afraid im no longer using that rom so I cannot check, the one im on at the moment has them off as default it seems.
Took me about 5 minutes to find the menus on my X1 (first WM phone I've owned) for all the problems you have listed. I suggest you either do a search or play around in the Settings.
Maybe the original poster is having difficulty 'cos they are looking for options not settings...
first thing I do when I get a new machine is RTFM no matter what it is (usually while I'm waiting charge, but not needed with the LiPo here) then start experimenting with menus. It's not hard...
There's an online help system here. http://devicehelp.vodafone.co.uk/GettingStarted.php?ModelID=344&e=0 I suggest you read it
What do you mean by "turning the phone off" what's happening ?
is the screen just going blank, (it does this or new users would be screaming about the poor battery life)
Is the entire unit shutting itself down?
Is the phone part (this is not a phone it's a pocket pc, the phone is only a part of it) turning itself off?
Maybe that's the problem, this is a very advanced device, people seem to be ignoring this..

Ringtones: Just select the file you want as your ringtone and hold down until the menu comes down and from the bottom of the menu, just select "Set As Ringtone".
Alarm tones & SMS tones: Files must be in .wav format and save them into your Windows folder. Once that is done, your tones should be available from the drop down list of tones.
Hey Guys, thanks for the solutions.
However none of tem were what I was after. I dont explain myself very well.
When I say, the phone goes off when switching between 3G, HSDPA etc i mean it either vibrates of beeps depending on which mode its on.
As for the vibrating while on loud. I have it on vibrate and ring which it does, but when I recieve an SMS it just beeps when on Loud. I would like it to vibrate too like it did on my old SE

I'm looking for an option to let the phone vibrate in small intervals and not one long everlasting vibration.
In the sound/notifications tab you can only select "vibration" and not the style of the vibration.
Am I missing something or does someone know an addon?

Search for VAlert, it allows incoming calls to "pulse" (and you can define the pattern).

Have exact same problem, think there must be something related to the amount of time the phone has been in standby too, if I test an alarm, by setting it to go off in 10 mins for example, it works fine, left overnight, never works....
I had issues with the alarm after using Klaxxon and uninstalling it.
I am currently testing to try and get it working each time and seems to be ok.
I reinstalled Klaxxon ticked force remove windows alarms and intergrate applyed the changed and soft booted the phone.
I then started klaxxon again and remove both ticks and soft reset again.
I then used AlarmFixWM to remove duplicate entries from the notification queue.
Not 100% if this now works 100% but seems promising.
Im sure there is an easier way but the above its what I did.
Found this thread which seems to be related
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=333521
Have installed SK tools, cleaned notification queue and set it to run cleanup auto in middle of night....
Alarm actually went off this morning...
Hardly conclusive, but gives me hope!
Odd, seems to be a longstanding WM2003/5/6/6.1 issue, not TD2 specific, but I moved to topaz from an artemis where I never had a single alarm problem... you would think if the artemis hardware could cope with my appointments list/alarms etc. then a topaz would be fine too...
P.
Alarm sounded again this morning
Happy Days...
Will post back here if problem reoccurs,
Otherwise, assume this has worked for me.

Hey popkid,
Any chance you could post exactly how to do this using SK tools? I cant seem to figure it out and I have this annoying alarm problem!!!

1) Fire up SK Tools
2) Hit Tools (Bottom Right) --> Settings
3) 2nd Tab "Automation"
4) Toggle "Notifications Queue" to "Use in Auto Mode" if it isn't already
(Take a look through other run options to run and deselect them if you don't want them running automatically)
5) Toggle "Scheduled Run" to "Yes"
6) Set time/day/date etc. to run (Mine is set to run at 3.30am every day, probably overkill!)
7) Set "Silent Mode" to "Yes"
and you are good to go
Alternatively, to fix your Notifications Queue just once:
1) Fire up SK Tools
2) Category (Bottom Left) --> Maintenance
3) Select "Notifications Queue"
4) Action (Bottom Left) --> Mark Duplicates (should be a fair few if you are having alarm problems)
5) Action (Bottom Left) --> Delete Marked
Hope this helps, post back if not!
Good Luck
Pauly
Thanks Pauly, ill see if G-alarm wakes me up in the morning!!
Dunno if you guys can help, i got Klaxon and alarm is fine, but if i snooze using shake then it never goes off again!
Can you show me your settings or give me any ideas?
My solution: Whatever alarm you have, install HTCPedia Topaz Setting Tool, go to Power Settings and set AC Resuming and Battery Resuming to 20 seconds, works EVERY DAY for me with Klaxxon.
That change made no difference when I was having my difficulties, think that gives the device longer to process your notifications queue if it is large, but if the notifications queue has other issues then it won't help.
P.
Edit: SFAIK Think G-Alarm changes both of these registry values to 120 seconds on installation, That is what they are set to on my TD2
they are located in HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\Timeouts\ if you wish to edit directly,
"BattResumingSuspendTimeout" and "ACResumingSuspendTimeout"
But does that fix the snooze function?

doesn't sound like the same problem you have to be honest, the notifications queue stuff is related to the alarm never going off in the first place...
I'm not a klaxon user, but have had it installed in the past, are you sure that you don't have the light sensor alarm deactivation switched on or it set to switch the alarm off (rather than snooze) on shake?
P.
Thanks for replying mate, how would i know about the light sensor bit?

I thought there was an option in Klaxon itself to use the light sensor to deactivate the alarm when a light is switched on?
Ah... Ok... just checked Klaxon release docs and it seems that isn't implemented yet... so thats a red herring!
It does say though... flip phone over to snooze
and shake to deactivate
I'm guessing that whatever you are doing is triggering the deactivation rather than the snoozing....!
One way to check, if you enable the integration to TF3D in klaxon then the time noted for the next alarm on your front page should increment to the next alarm set once the alarm has been deactivated, but not if it is snoozed, I think anyway.
P.
hey, yeah sorry i turn it over! it used to work with stock rom i think .. do you know what each option does in klaxxon? might just try g-aram or something?

No, sorry not sure, guess there is some sort of sensitivity set somewhere where it determines whether you are shaking or just turning over, I used to use the turn over function in klaxon when I had it and it worked fine... in G-alarm I get what you describe btw the sensitivity is set such that when I turn it over it thinks I'm shaking it and deactivates, so that may not provide the fix you are after either... and G_alarm isn't free... if you hunt around, I'm sure there was another klaxon thread on here (possibly by the developer himself) that had some details of the sensitivity being changed between releases, may be a reg edit you can do to fine tune it?
Good Luck!

Reminder problem

hello.my problem is:i set in "Notification Sounds" ringtone for "reminder".now when i set "alarm" on "on" ,so when after alarm ringing,so playing two ringtones together.them which i set on "reminder" and "alarm".everyone similar problem?thanx and sorry for my very very bad english
no one hasn't this problem?when ringing sound in alarm, playing melodies which i set in alarm and playing melodie which i set in reminder together crisscross
I'm not sure if I understand your question correctly but I am having an issue which I have only just noticed this morning.
I set my alarms for work and I always use the snooze sound which wakes me up the best. This morning no snooze sound. When I tested the alarm I realised it was using the reminder sound which was set to a quiet alert sound. Changing the reminder sound in the settings also changes the alarm sound.
IS this what you mean?
So, I have similar problem regarding reminder but not the same.
I think it has a serious bug, and our problems connect somehow in the background.
1.) In some cases (I can not define the rule) there is only reminder sound, not alarm. It is absolutely strange because it is not loud enough to wake me up.
2.) First I have set up 3 schedules: 5:00, 5:30, 6:00 without description text.
After I have modified them to 5:00, 5:15, 5:30, and I have given names for they.
What happens? The reminder sounds 5 (!) times, at all of the above schedules, even at 5:30 2 times! It is really strange.
Of course, probably it can be cleaned based on the registry, but this is very dangerous. What will happen after the next modification?
Any idea to fix it?
richardirv:yes, this is it.when ringing alarm, leo playing two songs together.for alarm and for reminder...
Double sound in reminders & alarms
Yes you are right.
This has been present for a long time with WM6.5 and HTC Sense/Manila.
I am guessing it is because 2 systems are operating.
A workaround I use is to assign an unobtrusive sound to reminders in WM sounds & notifications, like alarm-high frequency and a different alarm sound.
I don't think there is a fix for this.

Reminder notifications: SOUND without VIBRATION not possible
Hi, I got excatly the same problem, two sound when the clock alarm is activated. I can stand with this... but today I have found even worse problem and I am totally disapointed this htc software...
So, when I setup calendar apointment, and create "Reminder notification" for this lets say 5 minutes before event, then of course I get a pop-up with: "delay" or "cancel" the event. But the problem is with SOUND and VIBRATION for this reminder event. Namely, I can not force the phone to make a "Reminder notification" sound ONLY, without vibration. When I go to: settings, sound and screen, reminder sounds, I can turn on switch for reminders. This is OK, then click on reminders to go in and here a problem: VIBRATION: OFF, ON, ONLY. When set up to OFF and confirm, the main switch for reminders is changed to OFF! So no sounds for reminders at all!!! When I switch it on again and go into reminders settings, and choose VIBRATION ON and confirm and go back, main switch stays on but this means that the only configuration which works is to have reminder events with VIBRATION AND SOUND... totally crap
can anybody investigate? Thanks in advance.
Reminder issue
Hi I'm also having an issue with the alarm function.
On Monday I set alarms for 5:00, 5:15 & 5:30 (just in case I get lazy and sleep in)
On Monday night I turn them off, but they still sound on Tuesday????
I spoke to HTC and they said I need to reflash the latest image, which is total rubbish and a common answer to every single problem you send them.
Is this the same issue?
Is there a fix?
my workaround is to only ever set/change settings for anything like alarms or reminders in the windows settings (settings menu all settings clocks and alarms or sounds and notifications)
using the manila pages (tap alarms on home page, or settings, sound and display) always screw things up.
it seems themanila pages arent correctly integrated, in that they don't correctly feed the settings back into the windows settings. also, they don't seem to use the same paths for sounds.
look at the available alarm sounds in manila alarms, and compare it to the available alarm sounds in windows clocks and alarms screen, and once you have set a sound for an alarm in winmob, have a look at the sound for that alarm in manila alarms.
i haven't seen this problem since i started only using win mo settings pages for setting alarms.

[Q] Notification Issue

Hey I am new to these forums and the CM7 ROM for the shift. I put it on last night and I am having some trouble with the notification settings. On the stock sense ROM I was able to set my notifications to vibrate when I got one, mainly a text message. On the CM7 ROM for notifications I can only put it to "no noise" at all or a ringtone, like a beep. I would like to have a vibrate option but I cannot seem to find one. I appreciate all the help. Let me know if you need any more information, thanks.
try this: go into settings then sound setting, then under general tap on vibrate and set it to always..
or u can open up ur messages then hit menu and then settings the scroll down to notifications make sure notifications are checked then go to notification settings and tap vibrate and set it to always

That worked! Thank you, I didnt even think about going about it that way.
I had this problem too...
Go to Settings>CyanogenMod Settings>Interface>Notification Power Widget
Now check "Notification Power Widget" and then go into widget buttons.
Pick whatever tickles your fancy, but make sure toggle sound is on. You can also change the types of sound in the bottom "Sound Modes" Category and you caan change the order if you hit "Back" then "Widget Button Order".
Now reboot your device and when it turns back on, slide down the notification bar and at the top there should be a toggle which looks like Vibrate/Sound/Silent and that's how you change the sound!
I am also having this issue. i have no vibrate on any text messaging or even gmail .
I have the newest cm7, have tried turning vibrate on where ever i could. Wiped and re flashed but have the same problem .
phone will only vibrate on call and when i change from silent to vibrate.
