Screen digitalizer out of run and hard reset - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Hi,
I've a problem with my phone : my dizitalizer screen is out of run and i have been done a hard reset of my phone.
Now the message "tap your screen to set your preferences..." (or something lika that) appears on the screen. Is there a solution to bypass this step or not to see this message after a soft reset ?
Thanks for your help.

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news but, "Tap the screen" means just that.
Whats wrong with the screen?
And just for your info, a soft reset is either:
1. Hold Power button longer that 15 secs and turn off / back on.
2. Pressing the recessed button on the right hand side.
A Hard reset is when you hold both the Comm button and Voice button at the same time and reset using the indented button. Keep them held while the device cycles and the reset screen appears.

Re: Screen digitalizer HS and hard reset
Yes I know but my dizitalizer is out of order so I can't tap the screen...
(I used my pdafone without stylet until now since my screen is out of order)
I look for a way to bypass this step because it's physically impossible for me to do the operation.
Thanks for your help.

Any idea ?

a solution
i think i've found a solution. the problem is the software 'welcome' that is in the startup folder of windows. Is there a way to remove it from the rom ?

cook your own rom
Well, people do cook their own roms. Xelencin and summiter do so regularly. moyofalaye has done so too. The welcome screen is part of the ROM as opposed to the extended rom, so that it is a more involved thing to remove it. On the other hand, I am sick and tired of changing my appointment with Dr. Johnson and would welcome a ROM that avoided that part.

WM5 Password Forgotten

Hi, a helpfull friend has set the WM5 password to strong alphanumeric and has forgotten it,or just wont tell me what it is. Can anyone tell me, how can I get around this to get MDA Vario working again?
Many thanks
I think a hard reset may fix.
But I am not to sure.
I have tried that, device is still coming up with password request.
All I can think of is flashing it with a new ROM but if it goes bad it could kill the device and I am not sure it would remove it but in theory it should. Other members may have some hacks to fix it.
A hard reset will definitely remove the password, maybe you are just soft resetting the device.
I have tried as says in manual many times, it comes back up with the password screen every time.
I can only try it with MDA:
Turned off
Turned on with password screen illuminated
Manual says:
88 Managing Your MDA Vario
To perform a hard reset
1. Press and hold the Comm Manager button and Voice Command button on
the device.
2. Keep the two buttons pressed, and at the same time, use the stylus to lightly
press and hold the RESET button.
RESET button
Voice Command button
Comm Manager button
I have tried it with MDA:
turned off
turned on showing password screen
Sounds like you are doing the reset wrong....
Hard resets are awkward - hold in the two top side buttons, press the reset and keep holding the top two buttons after you have removed the stylus from the reset hole. About four seconds should do it.
Hope that helps.
you'll know if you got it because you'll get a black screen with white lettering that says "press send to format" or the like
otherwise its just a soft reset. On an older ipaq I had, if I had a password it would ask on teh PC everytime I synched. This was with PPC 2003. I'm not sure if you'll still have a problem when you try to sync your data though.
Good luck.
Bilbo_28 & others - You were right, I was not doing a hard reset properly and getting only the soft reset.
It seems after doing it a few times, that the hard reset instructions in the manual should read something like:
hold in the two top side buttons, both the send and receive buttons leds should come on and stay lit.
Insert the stylus in the reset hole and observe both send and receive buttons extinguish
remove the stylus from the reset hole and keep holding the two top side buttons until:
The screen goes black and the following message appears:
Press send to restore
factory default,
Other keys to quit
Release the top two side buttons
Then press SEND to restore factory default
or press any other key to abort hard reset
I think an e-mail to T-Mobile telling them to update the manual would not go amiss !!
Many thanks for your assistance.
Thankz man
hey thankz man really got a great relief
Wow. I was doing the hard reset wrong. I had the same password problem. But now its stuck on the "align screen" menu wth? It moves the cursor around the screen and yet it comes back to the menu. I've run through it at least 10 times now

I m using manual but nothing happened

what shell i do???
i ve tried so many methods. to press gently reset button, to hold 2 buttons, then reset, then again hold.
nothing
AAAAAaaaaa
After you pushed the buttons & soft re-set with stylus, did you push the "send" key? (green phone hardware button)
no. but i read about pushing that button after message appeared on the screeen but it never appears.
hold down the comm manager button and voice memo button (both on top) then push in the small hole in the side with your stylus and hold it down until your phone boots up and gives you a message to send. Alternatively, you can go to Settings --> System --> Clear Storage, enter "1234" and hit ok.

O.K., then I can only suggest to keep trying until the message to send does appear, or hit send without the message appearing.
Can you boot in to your OS? If you can then just go to Start--> Settings--> System--> Clear Storage and that will do a hard reset for you.

Based on the info stated in his thread, I'm assuming he can't get past the splash screen. It sounds like some type of program was pasted to start-up preventing the device to get to the Today screen.
Prolly not the right way to do it but i was getting the same problem trying to "hard " reset my phone. he is trying it while the phone is on and displaying everything. personally i held it for 5 minutes and the screen never appeared. i then thought i was doing something wrong. by chance i tried turning the phone off and then holding the buttons which prompted me to press the send button. and there you go system formatted.

URGENT HELP REQUESTED - HD Stucked

hi guys!
long time with no post from me but today the stupid thing (HD) did it again
i installed an app for home page tweaking and after the soft reset my HD dosen't starts right
it boots, does what it does but it sucks on the black screen with some icons on the top bar and the names of the soft keys on the bottom bar. i can only turn ona anf off the screen by pressing the power button, but nothing else. screen doesn't react, soft keys don't react either
i don't realy want to hard reset it because it took few months to make it working right, but i would do also this if there is no other solution
BUT...
when i try to hard reset it it stucked again in the tricolour mode with "SERIAL" word on the botom
what is this? i can't write anything so what is this serial all about?
so, please let me know if there is any solution for:
1. step by step booting in order to skip the process or application that cause the stuck?
2. how can i hard reset the thinggie?
thanks a lot!
Had the same problem after I installed HTC home and HTC customizer...after a soft reset, TF3D failed to load and the phone froze. Had to hard reset in the end--thankfully, I run a backup once a week, so I really didn't lose anything. I was able to run 'Clear Storage' before TF3D's startup fail managed to freeze my phone. So it's all good on my end...
Backup backup backup...a little too late...
Maybe you are not doing the hard reset correctly, you press and hold both Vol up & Vol down keys, whilst holding down power button aswell until it turns on. Hard reset screen should come up.

Sounds like a software issue Hard Reset sounds best
What you are seeing (Tri Coloured Screen) is the boot loader it probably showed up because you didnt hold the volume up key when doing Hard Reset
its not a problem just remove battery
then do hard reset (make sure both volume buttons UP/Down are press at the same time and press power button ..........follow what the screen says
thank you guys for your opinions
i know how to do a hard reset (cause is not the first one) and i tryed severl times before i post my request here
finaly i manage to do an "upgrade" using USB connection from my rom version to the same rom version. strange but this is what i did, and then i was able to do the hard reset in the usual manner
now i am working hard to restore all applications andtweaks that i had
luckily i use often backup and i still have contacts and personal infos

Soft Reset a TP2

Is there a simple, free app to soft reset my phone. I wonder who thought win mo had progressed to the point where an occasional soft reset would not be needed
You can use Advanced Configuration Tool:
Menu - Soft reset
MemMaid has the same option, but it is not free.
Get HD Tweak here, and you get a tweaker that can be used for settings, plus an HD Soft Reset app you can add to the start menu.
http://www.montecristoff.com/hdtweak.htm
Or check this topic.
There is also that little button on the side of the phone... Little hole. Use your stylus... says "RESET" Unless for some reason, that's not on all TP2s...

I find it a pain I need to remove the back cover to do that. On my fuze (touch pro) I just had to use the stylus and I could push the reset button which was at the bottom of the phone.

... Am I being punk'd? Like, seriously... is the T-Mobile one some miraculous feat of engineering that they were able to put the reset button on the side of the phone? Seriously. Mine is on the right side... Are certain yours isn't on the side of the phone?
*edit* After doing a little more research, I found that for some reason, the TILT 2 has that behind the battery cover. Sorry for my response. I was seriously just flabbergasted...
yeah very stupid design flaw there... I was flabbergasted when I purchased it!
Windows Marketplace has an App called "Reboot" which is exactly what you're looking for.

google or forum search for psShutXP if the above link doesn't work.
Its a free cab that does soft resets. You hold the power buton for 2 secs and a menu pops up to either display off / turn off / soft reset or cancel.
Can't use just hold the power button for three seconds and tap yes at the dialog box to power off the phone then press the power button again to power on? This works for me on my tmo US phone.
Soft Reset made easy
I contacted HTC to ask the difference between a soft reset using the hard to reach reset button and just powering the TP2 off and then on. They said there was no difference and the red power button would perform a soft reset.
Obvious question then is "what is the reset button for?"

Theres a number of ways you can soft reset the phone.. from powering down the unit to navigating to a soft reset shortcut in the start menu to pressing the red reset button on the side of the phone.
I guess using the reset button on the side of the phone just became habit on the touch pro (fuze) so when I need to reset my mind automatically goes to popping off the cover so I can get at it EVEN though their are alternatives. I'm sure I'll get over it

Sure, powering off and then power on is the same as pressing the reset button. But consider this: what if your device freezes so badly that the power button is no longer responsive? The reset button is now your friend
(or you can pull the battery, but that's doesn't sound very safe to do)
That being said, HTC did a silly job putting the reset button under the battery cover. They should just hide it in the stylus slot like they did with the original Touch Diamond and the Touch Pro.
xdaShutdown
Mate,
Check out this.
xdaShutdown a beautiful application...already in the first sticky thread of this section

HD tweak is a tweak program like the Advanced Config tool that has a built in soft reset with it. It is free and is on this forum. Has many other uses as well.
Here Try this, made a cab from Josh Koss's rom. This will place an icon in the start menu that will reboot the device when pressed
u can also use the htc clean ram app i never soft reset my tp2 i just clean the ram @ level 3 twice a day try it ul love it
I prefer Slide 2 Shutdown the best... It gives you the option to Slide to Power off your phone, Slide 2 Reset your phone, or Slide 2 Sleep... Pretty cool UI...
