Anyone got Sim Access Profile working? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi
I wondered if anyone had successfully used the Sim Access Profile capabilkity of the of TyTn to connect with a Bluetooth car kit. I'm trying to get the connection going with a Merc. car kit, but I can't get them to pair.
Thx

Hi petes, I have an slk 55 amg with command and bluetooth. The bluetooth in the command system does not work for pairing with a phone. Even though it says it has bluetooth. To use bluetooth you need an extra module.
Hope this helps...

Hi Dale
Thanks. I actually already have the module - the european version of the module is different to the US one in that it uses Sim Access Profile, rather than just acting as a headset. The TyTn says is supports SAP, but I just can't make it work - wondering if anyone's actually got SAP working.
pete S

Hi Petes,
I also have an Mercedes-Benz with the european bluetooth module. But I have a Qtek 9100 updated to AKU2 (Which is supposed to support SAP), but no luck at all. Actually the module can not even identify my phone and display it at the search screen of the comand screen. I tried also with a NOKIA 6230i (SAP Compatible phone) which actually I was able to see at the search list of the comand screen which means that the module is working with SAP compatible phones. What I will do next, is to try again with the new firmware I installed to my 9100 (T-Mobiles 2.21 Version) which has a SAP application for bluetooth (Something like SAP Server).
I can not do it yet because I am abroad and I will be back again 1st of September. I will let you know the results ASAP.
If you have any news from your site with TyTn please let me know because I was intending to change my 9100 to TyTn just for the SAP functionality.

Hi Barsam
The reason you can't find the 9100 when you search with the BT module is that it only looks for devices which identify themselves as Phones. The TyTn (and no doubt the 9100) identify themselves as Pocket PCs and so the (stupid!) Mercedes kit ignores them. The good news is that you can hack the registry to tell the Bluetooth stack that it's a phone. The bad news is that you can't pair with it. Getting it into the search screen doesn't mean it supports SAP - I could see my old T68 just when I was testing. Could you actually pair with the 6230i - i.e. when you see it in the list select Call?
When you're back, PM me and I'll send you the hack.

To tell you the truth I didn't try to pair the 6230i, but it's one of the phones that mercedes have tested on the bluetooth module. If I don't manage to do it with the 9100 I may get a 6230i. At least I can use the one that my brother has to test it and even copy my contacts to comand. Have you tried the hack with the TyTn? Can you tell me what is the the registry set to do that?
Where did you find out that the bluetooth module ignores enything elese than phones?

Make the following registry change
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\SYS]
"COD"=dword:52020C
On your own head etc.. Keep a copy of the current value of course. Then do a soft reset. You'll then see it as a phone. I've tried this, and can now see the phone, but can't pair. I've had a mail back from HTC that they're aware of some problem with the SAP and are working on it.

I wish a nice car kit would be released in the USA that supports SAP/850 & 1900/ external aerial...

hello,
i'm trying to get my TyTN working with my Meceder Command too... does anyone tried the English ROM-Update? Someone wrote that he can use it's TyTN with his Audi after updating the ROM. And tha Audi-MMI-System works also with SAP... perhpas after the ROM-Update it works with Mecedes Command System too...

I haven't tried it yet - I've been waiting for the TyTn update to come along, but nothing from HTC yet. If I don't get anything soon, I'll switch over to the iMate ROM and report back.

I have used a nokia 6233 6280 onmy E55 2005 with B/t Module
The mercedes module in conjuntion with the command system is problimatic, hoever I think I have another peice of the puzzle. With both the above phones they only worked using Vodaphone 3g cards Three 3g cards paired using SAP however could not get recieption....Mercedes say (there guessing) its the way the sim card is configured.....

Mercedes BT
I have a TYTN on order and Im desperate to find a solution to the issue before it arrives.....
As a follow on to my last post ...basically what I THINK found out was if the sim card was configured to work only on a 3G phone..(some networks do this so that they cannot be put in a 2.5g phone and constantly roam on).....then it would pair with the Bluetooth module in Mercedes however never get recieption.
I tried this on several phones including 6233 6280 N80 E61.....just to name a few....ALL PAIRED....however If I put a Vodaofone 3g Card in then IT worked .....IF i put a Three 3G card in it didnt.....BUMMER CAUSE I'm with THREE.....
I hope this helps in some way and Im more than happy to be corrected however these are my first hand expeirnces....I WANT TO USED THE TYTN in my MErc so Im keen to help in amy way....I have unlimited access to phones...so if anyone has any other suggestions Im happy to give it a go....
Mark

At the moment, you'll find that by default the merc kit won't even see the Tytn (it's a pocket pc, not a phone as far as Bluetooth is concerned). You can hack the registry to change this, but then the phone will be seen, but pairing will fail. Hopefully, the forthcoming firmware update will fix this - I've had mail back from HTC support to suggest they know there are problems with the SAP support.

Mercedes BT
Is there anyone who had paired Nokia phones with Mercedes BT(euro spec) successfully? I had tried for several Nokia phones (6230i/6270/6280) to pair with BT ,all failed. I can just find the 16-digit PIN on Comand, no phone appears on Comand. Phone & Comand can't find each other. Do I have to set other setting except the "bluetooth setting" for mobile phone? Even I try to "search for audio enhancements" and 'find no devices' at all .

Thanks Petes,
Did they give any idea on time frames?...Did you have any thoughts about my experience with the different sim cards....
Mark

I am considering buying the HTC TyTN and the Merc Bluetooth module so I am very keen to know if anyone can get this working.
Thanks,
Ady

Nope - no news on timescales I'm afraid - just waiting for the firmware update from HTC. I'm reluctant to try the iMate firmware at the moment - until there's an HTC to go back to in case something goes awry. Has anyone had a chance to try SAP with either of the newer firmwares (iMate or Dopod) - might give us a good clue if the HTC one's going to work.

I've connected my 6230i easily enough, just remember to allow "auto connect without confirmation" on the phone after entering the 16 digit code
I have tried my HW6915 pocket pc but like the other PPC's it is not recognised

A reply I got from HTC support on 21/09/2006 asking about the Merc SAP problem was:
At present the TyTN is only compatable with a limited number of kits. A ROM update will be released shortly to update this.

So fingers crossed that it will be soon and solve the problem.

I asked them the same thing a while ago and just checked back in on availability. Just got ...
"At present the HTC ROM for the TyTN is being written and tested and we expect it to be released in the very near future."
So, patience is a virtue I hear....

Bluetooth car kit and voice dialling question

Does anyone here use their MS Mobile 2003 “smart” phone with a Bluetooth car kit?
I wonder if you can help me…
With my old Nokia phone, it used to activate the connection to the car kit when I turned on the engine.
However, on the MDA Compact, I have to go to Bluetooth, select the car kit, and select “Set as Hands-free” every time I get into the car, witch is rather annoying.
Does anyone know how to make this automatic? Is there a third party utility perhaps that would monitor the availability of the car kit every so often, and connect to it automatically when it is available?
And another question, does anyone know of a good utility for voice dialling?
I tried Microsoft Voice Command 1.5, it is alright, more or less (apart from awful recognition of spoken numbers, even if spoken by upper class English people) it does recognise the contact names, witch is all that I need - however, I cannot get it to react when I press the action button on the car kit.
I still have to take the phone out of my briefcase, and hold it in my hand, witch is illegal whilst driving.
My dream application, would be something basic, that I can train for certain contacts that I call regularly (like with my old nokia phone, which appeal glows by the minute) – as this way, thick eastern European accents do not matter ;-)
Thanks in advance for any pointers!
I have the MDA Compact Working with the CK7W form Nokia.
Works good exept the voice dailing, You can thakeand disconnect a call with the remote controle.
But do you have to manualy connect to the car kit every time you get into the car?
Once it is connected, I can accept and end calls using the action button. so that is not a problem
No just hold the center button of the remote for 2 seconds, than it will connetct again

Hold on a minute, I have the same Nokia car kit, and my Compact when connected suffers badly with reported echoes at their end, not mine.
Do you have this problem?
I was to believe that this was a common problem not resolved yet!
Mike.
I'm gonna test this tomorrow in my shop, I will place a list with phones(other than Nokia) that will work with the CK7W[/quote]
My car kit is CK-1W
I am generaly happy with it, apart from the fact that on the MDA I have to manualy connect every time I get into the car.
I used it with many different phones, and it works fine.
so I think that it is the bluetooth manager of the MDA that is to blame.
my compaq Ipaw bluetooth manager was the best!
but this one, I cannot even get the activesync to work...
For the manual connect you have 2 blame the BT manager in w2003se.
I have good results with:
Nokia CK7W:
Qtek 9090
Qtek S100
Sony Ericsson P910(I)
Sony Ericsson P700i
Samsung D500
HP6340
Are there alternative bluetooth managers?
or a reg. hack I can implement?
thanks
Hmmm, I Don't know...Anyone?
Apparently not…
I had the same problems with my mr handsfree genius car kit, and i thought it was the fault of the car kit.
Just upgrade your rom to 1.06 and all your problems will disappear most likely.
Which rom do you have?
Andre
I have an old ROM.
however, all my atempts at upgrading it failed.
my device ID is something like TMOB-005, not 001
cracked update exe file did not help, running the scripts to modify the ROM files did not help...
in the end I felt inept, and gave up ;-)

Tytn / Vario II and Pioneer P55BT

Hi all,
I've got a Pioneer P55BT headunit in my car, and it has support for bluetooth to use it as a handsfree, however I cannot connect my Vario II to it, as it doesnt detect it as a phone, so doesnt come up when trying to pair it.
Has anyone managed it? or have any advice?
Cheers
have you tried pioneers tech support on this one? I know its not directly helpful, but if they are not currently aware of a problem they cannot patch the firmware

Solution
Hi,
I've got exacly the same problem with a Vario II and a Pioneer DEH-P75BT. After a lot of email's and phonecalls with pioneer in the Netherlands, they came everytime back with the answer "Your phone is not on the supported models list". Yea i knew that already.
Before my Vario II is always used a SDA without problems. I discovered that when i select hands free from the vario itself, it pairs without problems. The radio just have some problems with discovering the Vario II.
The problem:
The vario II identifies itself as a PDA bluetooth device. The pioneer modules are searching for a phone or smartphone, so it just ignores the Vario II.
Solutions:
Change the COD (Class of Device) from a PDA device to a smartphone device.
This can be done this way:
1. First make sure you've got a backup, or remember all settings you change in the registry.
2. Edit with a registry editor the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\SYS\COD
By default my vario II does have the value: 1048852 (decimal)
Change this to: 5374476 (decimal).
3. Soft restart your device
4. Voila! Your device now identifies itself as a smartphone, and my pioneer unit finds it without problems.

You're a legend... did as you said and all worked perfectly!! well after I remembered what the code was to pair it, lol 1111.
Cheers tho, appeciate it.

that's got to be worth adding to the wiki!
how's it done?
I would def say so, sure it's a problem on a number of devices (i.e. stereos)
It's also a solution for other devices using a Microsoft BT stack.
Maybe it's worth to make it a general wiki update?

Vario II working with 55BT
After several tries with 55BT, I have finally managed to connect it.
The way to do that was only by using radio and not PDA. Wherever I tried to pair the devices from PDA, I was getting PIN code screen over and over.
However, after running detection as advised in the manual from the radio side, all was running fine. What might have helped was the pairing with other phone (Motorola RAZR3 to be precise) and pairing on position 2. Magic but was my case Generally, the worst thing with 55BT was the duality if I may say so of the buttons and knobs changing its funcion is different steps of the pairing - simple mistake and you need to start over.
Given the problems, I have tried Sony BT5000 and it worked like a charm, but I was afraid of the sound quality, given the mic is builin in the radio.
Finally I have decided to go Blaupunkt route, but can confirm, when paired, 55BT was working fine, althoug some echo was present during call.

The problem described above is that the radio doesn't detect the PDA. As i understand from your post, is that your radio does find the PDA by default, right? Or have you paired the pda once, and registered on the radio? This shoud work by default.

flue,
I have the HTC Prophet pda and the pioneer DEH P75BT and have just changed the value in the registry as you suggested (haven't had chance to test it yet though) but I trust it will work.
Have you used the BT Audio function on the stereo to stream music from your pda to the stereo yet?
My experience is that it's a painful process to pair but the quality of music once paired is second to none. I eventually gave up with it though because of the dreadful pairing process.
Could this be to do with the COD? I mean is there a seperate COD code for a wireless stereo?

Hi,
I don't really know if the prophet has a different stack of modified stack for a2dp because i don't use that phone.
I've got the universal and tytn phone here. I never figured out how to get the universal working without stuttering. My conclusion was it's a lack of processor power.
The vario II does work better with a2dp, especially after a soft-reset.
I never got pairing problems with both of them for a2dp. The radio connects fine and directly after choosing "set as wireless stereo" on the phone.
This does have nothing to do with the COD. Even with the COD set to the default value (pda), and you set your radio as headset/wireless-stereo from the phone, is should work without problems. Even registering on the pioneer should be possible then.
The only thing it doesn't with the default COD is automaticly connecting to the bluetooth headset when powering on the pioneer device.
I seems that the pioneeer deh-b75bt does not have the funcionality to auto-connect a2dp, such as the headset does. Too bad
Thanks for the info flue.
I've now had chance to see if the phone will auto connect with the new COD and can confirm that it does. So well done that man!!!!
I can also confirm that both times I tried "set as wireless stereo" it paired with no problems and I was able to listen to mp3's on my phone through my car speakers in almost perfect quality!
BTW I installed the Tornado A2DP hack in order to get A2DP working as the Prophet isn't capable of it without it.
this procedure don't function with my TyTn on mercedes Benz Bluetooth kit.
It recognized the phone with a 16 numbers code but don't pairing. Someone have the same problem ?
Hi guis!I've got an HTC MTeor smartphone and pioneer bluetooth car stereo.Excuse me for the stupid question, but I couldn't understand how to change my phone COD from PDA to smartphone.Where do I have to type this code?Or what settings I have to change? Thank you in advance
I have a DEH-75BT as well. Have anyone found out how to get adress book transferred to the radio?
/Kasper
StoianZh,
The MTeor is a smartphone and its COD will by default already be set to smartphone. No changes are required.

Use outlook on your PC
First do a Select All on your contacts* You may have more than 1000 contacts and if so may wish to break this up into one or two attempts to provent overloading the PC.*
Then choose Action->Forward as VCard
On the mail that appears choose File-> Save Atachments.
Save the VCFs to a folder and move them to your phone.
In the car use SmartExplorerEN or Resco Explorer and Select All the VCFs. Choose Send Files Via Bluetooth and the Headunit will appear in the list. Send them all to the HU

Hi,
I have a HTC TyTN and a Pioneer DEH-P4900IB
I have the same problem as described. If I pair the phone with the Pioneer it will work fine, but as soon as either the car-stereo or the phone's bluetooth has been switched off, it will not automatically connect.
I can either re-pair it, or alternatively choose the Pioneer radio in the list of paired devices on my TyTN, click update, re-choose "Handsfree" and click save.
I have now tried your solution, and unfortunately it hasn't solved the problem.
I still have exactly the same problem. When I turn on my car, the radio will search for bluetooth devices but ends up displaying "NO TEL".
Can anyone help with a solution to this problem?
Thank you in advance.

Hi, I have a Pioneer P75BT. I've used the COD hack, which works very well. Thanks to the original poster.
I've found that I have to leave the Vario II in discoverable mode in order for the P75BT to connect to it automatically, even though the P75BT has the Vario II registered. I can also connect it manually.
I don't like the idea of leaving my Vario in discoverable mode all the time, but it looks like thats the only way to automatically connect each time, unless someone has found another solution. Perhaps its not so much of a problem as I tend to turn off bluetooth on the Vario II when i'm not using it.

Can any HTC pda/phone Autoanswer on Bluetooth ?

Hi,
1) has anyone any first hand experience with ANY HTC pda/phone that could autoanswer on ANY bluetooth headset
1a) my experience is NO ! (Verizon XV-6600, A&T Tilt)
2) Unless there is a yes answer to 1)....
how could this have gone unaddressed thru so many generation/models/reviews of PDA/phones ?
2a) I can't accept that this is a "feature".
Jeez, just about every "dumb" bluetooth mobile phone does it just fine.
3) For the individual(s) that offer directions to ->Settings, etc...
it doesn't work for bluetooth
4) For those that say Handsfree profile is required...
AT&T Tilt supossedly has Handsfree 1.5, and bluetooth autoanswer doesn't work !
5) This is a serious flaw/oversight/disability/etc. !
How many versions/releases from Harrier to Kaiser, to have not corrected this.
Someone from HTC please step up and address this. Please ?!
did you try PhoneAlarm.
it is possible to create a profile in phonealarm, and automaticly respond to an incoming phone call..also while using bluetooth
First step, run SAPSettings to activate the comunication between SIM an BT
Then Settings -> phone -> more -> automatic pickup is working for me.
Hi,
Neither SAP nor "bluetooth SIM access" were referenced at http://www.america.htc.com/support/tilt/docs/ATT_Tilt_English_GSG.pdf
Thanx anyhow.
The Tilt was already returned and I've stayed with the XV-6600 (bigger screen, coverage footprint, faster broadband, cpu "feels" faster, software/accessories investment).
I will correlate your advice with the XV-6600.
I'd like autoanswer to work, but more importantly...
I strongly feel HTC should address/correct this in their production.
Regards,
Can anyone make it work on their HTC phone ?
Hi,
Pardon the redundancy.
Omitted headset models from original post.
With HTC so visible in the PDA/phone
market, how is it that...
1) they probably don't have a unit which
can perform AUTOANSWER via any(?)
bluetooth headset
Tested (Verizon) Audiovox XV-6600
(HTC Harrier with camera)
phones: (AT&T Tilt) HTC 8925 (Kaiser)
headsets: BlueVoice, iPhono[063C],
Jabra BT110, Jabra BT200,
Logitech HS02-V07
Mobile Freedom,
Logitech HS03 V04 Traveller,
Motorola HS810,
Motorola S9 "Rokr",
Nokia BH-800, Nokia BH-900,
Nokia HS-37W, Z-E-N
2) no(?) review has ever pointed this out
3) there are a number of generations
between the models I tested,
I don't think any intermediate models
(e.g. PPC-6700) could AUTOANSWER either
How, has HTC missed this so
consistently ?
AUTOANSWER:
an incoming call will cause a handsfree headset to automatically connect to the caller within a specified number of rings and/or seconds, without wearer intervention (i.e. no buttons to push, nothing to touch).
OK, if you've read this... just try to make it work on your HTC pda/phone with any bluetooth headset you choose.
AutoAnswer is a standard feature on just about every smart or dumb phone.
So, I'm just asking for someone/anyone to confirm that it works as designed on ANY HTC pda/phones for any ONE or more bluetooth headsets.
The Sprint Mogul (PPC-6800 ?) is reputed to have undergone recent firmware upgrades adressing specifically bluetooth and other issues.
Try it !
I'm curious.
IF you get it to work, please post an affirmation to this thread of which models phone/headset were involved.

Yes...my Att 8125 aka HTC wizard and my Att 8225 aka HTC Hermes...my advice to you...learn how to use the device....
ljinsane,
I've gotten the feature to work with Motorola & Jabra headsets on (AT&T/Cingular) Motorola V600 & Razor, Sony-Ericsson T62U + DBA-10 bluetooth adapter, and a Blackjack.
I'm pretty confident it's not operator error.
What headset did you use ?
Were you indeed able to converse with whomever called you, by just waiting for the headset to stop ringing, and without touching the headset and not touching the Wizard 8125 and/or Hermes 8225 ?

You're the 2nd to have success with a Tilt.
Someone else (different forum) had success with the AT&T Tilt +Aliph Jawbone.
Trust me, I did the setup for the Tilt when I tried it with my headsets.
I want to go back to the AT&T store and see if I can demo a Tilt + Jawbone combo.

Make that the third. It sure as heck works with my Tilt using the "Stock" feature in conjunction with my S9 BT headphones.
boys i beleive it's matter of some settings.maby you must make some tests with different settings with bluetooth to manage it
in dutty's and helmi_c's lite roms and with the HTweakC_2.1b(yes with this program!!) i make the settings of bluetooth and everything works perfect.
when you open this program in kaiser you have at opening an error mesage of ""unsuported device"" but a lot of it's options works perfect in our kaisers
try it and see what i mean
Gsleon3,
That's good.
Hmmm, now you're having success with a combo
Tilt + S9/Rokr, that failed for me.
OK, Plan B
I would like to respectfully request model & firmware version, both phone & headset if possible,
from responders (past & future) if you're having success or failure.

Autoanswer: Tilt + (S9 Rokr or Jawbone) - No Love
OK guys,
How come nobody's stepped up with the firmware info (at least for the successful pairings) ?
Just got back from AT&T brick&mortar (store).
They had a demo Tilt w/o SIM, but claimed it wouln't 'work' (make/receive calls ? - as it paired w/ my bluetooth headset just fine).
Anyways, store manager's Tilt used.
Also, had to open a new Aliph Jawbone and charge it for 15 minutes.
Tilt set for Autoanswer in 3 rings + Jawbone
did -NOT- work.
4 rings then silent as call went to voicemail.
So, c'mon guys I need to know those firmware levels.
A picture of your phone displaying its firmware
level would be even better, if you know what I'm saying.
Failed AutoAnswer of
AT&T Tilt marketed in Portland,OR:
ROM version : 1.57.502.2
ROM date : 08/25/07
Radio version : 1.27.12.11
Protocol version: 22.45.88.07H
Regards,
I have the Spritn Mogul with the latest ROM from HTC that was released Nov. 29th. My auto answer does work. I have the Plantronics Explorer 350 Bluetooth headset.
Wooohoooo it works.

Hi,
Neither SAP nor "bluetooth SIM access" were referenced at http://www.america.htc.com/support/tilt/docs/ATT_Tilt_English_GSG.pdf

You need to read more carefully.
SAPettings
Exitao,
At first reading of your reply, I realized I'd searched the Getting Started Guide rather than the User Manual.
Just searched the user manual... no SAP.
http://www.america.htc.com/support/tilt/docs/ATT_Tilt_English_Manual.pdf
So, with all due respect... what has SAP and/or SAPSettings to do with "native" (out of the box) support of AutoAnswer via bluetooth in the Tilt ?
I don't know of a bluetooth phone without AutoAnswer, and the ones (excluding HTC) that I've used all performed as expected.
I apologize if you perceived my rantings as a quest for third party solutions.
My goal, is to authenticate that there is a
deficiency in bluetooth/AutoAnswer support in the Kaiser/8925/Tilt as marketed.
And, if it helps to innoculate future generations of HTC products,
that the above deficiency seems to have a "linear" heritage dating as far back as the Harrier/XV-6600.
Thirdly, I'd like the function to work as expected in all products but,... that's just me.
Regards,
Dj1018,
Thanks for contributing.
I'm happy for you, sincerely.
If someone with earlier firmware on a Mogul could share,
we might have some idea of whether there is a problem, HTC knows of it, and understands and/or can correct it.

my HTC thunderbolt just updated to ver 2.3.4.
I used to use an app Auto answer by everySoft.
In my car the hands free would automatically answer incoming calls
in 6 seconds. After the update it doesn't work.
I tried several similar apps and the same error message ver 2.3.4 killed them.
I drive with hand controls, so i really need auto answer.
Any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated.
I did some research and found.
The MODIFY_PHONE_STATE permission was marked as "for system use only" in Android 2.3.
While this was never intended for developers and publicly endorsed by Google, there are hundreds of apps in the marketplace using it. Unfortunately, a seemingly innocent checking by the Android folks has now crippled many popular apps for Android 2.3+.
If i root the phone, can this be changed??

rSAP connectivity

Sadly enough I have noticed that the xperia X1 does not like my premium volkswagen carkit. As used in passat or audi or skoda superb, bmw, Mercedes, etc.
I have an RNS-510, but have also tried it with a RNS-310. Both having the premium carkit in it. Also called carkit III.
It uses rSAP to enable transfer of contacts and phone settings control.
I have tested with a nokia N95 and it works perfectly fine with that after you enable the remote sim access profile. Also known as SAP.
Sadly enough, the X1 refuses to connect. The carkit just says the phone is not compatible.
Anybody have any clue what to do?
Maybe a custom ROM which does have this functionality? Or a tool that can be added?
u r talking about remote sim access right?
my rom (cmex absolute touch) got an option to enable it under bluetooth setting (connections)
Yes or You use this little cab! Works perfectly with VW Golf VI PRemium Handsfreekit. I used the smaller file, but if it dont works try the bigger one!
In the bluetoothsettings you should find the sap profile after the installation, and in the programs a small utility to activate it. the Xperia himself has no SAP Profile!
wow!
I definately came to the right place! I will try this out tommorow first thing and let you know if it works!
Thnx's again. Also considering your rom now achmed20, because I believe this is quite basic functionality which should have been there in the first place!
As I said, I'll let you know if this worked!
not working yet
Well, that helped, a bit.
I get to the connection screen, have to enter the 16 digit pincode and after that the car just says connecting, and stays doing this for a minute or two and then just says failed or not compatible.
So I'm a lot further, but it isn't working yet! I'm thinking because of all the things I have tried, I might have broken it somewhere, but unsure how or what.
Thinking of maybe flashing it with a different (custom) rom, to see if that might fix the problem.
Anyone have any other advice?
no experience with the kind of trouble your having but if you want to try off on a fresh start, i would do a hard reset, then install the cab fix that was recommended.
still not working
I just installed the cmEX absolute TOUCH rom and did a hard reset after that.
Enabled rsap on the last tab of bluetooth and the car says its connecting and just does that for a long time (after entering pin code). Sadly enough, it just times out.
Anybody have any clue what could be the problem? I have the feeling we are allmost there, but there is just a little thing causing it to time out.
rsap even says it's connected to my skoda and everything.
From what I can gather, the cmEX absolute TOUCH rom is based on a touch HD.
more testing!
Okay, from what I have been able to gather, the following is going on.
The carkit is trying to log on in a frequency that it cannot handle.
I have been able to connect the carkit, download the address book and make calls with my Xperia now. No problems what so ever....except one. I was using a SIM from a collega whom has a different network!
I use t-mobile and my collegea has kpn/telfort. Doing more research, I have learned that kpn/telfort and vodaphone use the 1800 band frequency. And that t-mobile uses the 900 frequency.
I am not entirely certain at this point that this truly is the real problem, but, my phone works, my carkit and car works, so all the software bits are in sync, but only using a different sim. Rebooting the phone, changing nothing but the sim, makes it completely broken again!!
I'm using a RNS-510 with the Skoda/VW premium carkit. If anyone is able to shed some light on this and what possible fixes could be, I'd really like to hear!
I have been looking (and mailed) if a fiscon unit could potentionaly fix this problem. They also have units which intergrate with the system.
But I'd rather find a software solution, obviously. Sadly enough, manny cases can be found where people have problems, often, with no solution. This problems is *NOT* specefic to the Xperia, I do realize that now, since the new ROM, rSAP is working just fine.
more complex then ever....
Okay, things just more complex then ever before.
My x1 using a HTC touch HD rom base and rSAP from HTC (default in rom).
KPN sim = works and can call
Vodaphone sim = logs in but carkit crashes on trying to connect to cell towers. But car connection functions.
T-mobile sim = connection to carkit never gets finished.
I'm totally lost. Using a friends N95, all the sims work flawlessly.... which makes me even more clueless, because the carkit reads the sim data and then connects using it's own radio to the cell network.
Please, advice? How can this be fixed? Is there a different version of the HTC rSAP software available maybe?
The plot thickens again.
Using my sim card in my X1, not working. Original ROM, Original ROM + rSAP extensions, cooked rom from touch HD with native rSAP. Just non-functional.
Using the exact same phone, without the t-mobile sim but with the KPN sim, works perfectly, no problems what so ever.
Using an older Nokia E50, both sims work flawlessly, also my t-mobile sim.
This leads me to one conclusion and that is that the HTC rSAP implementation is seriously bugged.
Anyone have any idea on how to proceed? Somewhere I have read that the HTC's wouldn't handle 3G or UMTS sims and only use older ones. But, using the KPN sim I connect to 3G and it works. Also the nokia E50 of N95 can use any network and it just plain works. There for that statement is wrong in my opinion and it is caused by buggy software of HTC.
Anyone have a good idea on how to proceed? Lots of people having this problem and buying nokia's, but for no real reason other then buggy software it seems.
I really like my X1, and payed a lot of money for it, so I really need this to start working.... Please assist and help, also people with a diamond or other HTC, using the same software.
sadly enough, no progress
Did some tests again today, but sadly enough, no progress yet.
I'm going to try and get a hold of a Touch Diamond and a Touch HD and see how those preform with my sim. If my suspiciouns are correct, they will also fail, making this a combination of bad software with bugs with certain sim's.
That is the conclusion I am faced with right now... sadly enough, no idea how this can be remedied.
Are there developers whom might be able to write a reliable rsap implementation or will HTC ever come with a working version?
What do you guys think?
Sonyericsson will not provide SAP for the Xperia. Thats the point....
Been in contact with support
I have been in contact with Sony-Ericsson support and they tell me they cannot make the X1 compatible, because it is not just software.
Off course, to me this sound like total bull****, seeying I have allready had an raap connection with the X1. But this was either using HTC software add-on's or using a rom that was based on the htc touch HD.
Sadly enough, I cannot work without this functionality... and thus will be forced to sell my phone and buy... a nokia.... not bad, since I have had nokia's all my life. But I really really do not eNjoy beying forced to do so.
But everybody has known that the xperia has no SAP Profile... in every test, in every Datasheet you can see it! Why you buyed an xperia?
Wrong order
I orderd the x1 around the same time I orderd my new car (Skoda Superb II 2.0 TDI Ambition Business line ).
The car came with a carkit that can only do rSAP, but it is very very nicely intergrated with a external antenna, full adress book acces, etc. etc.
To my amazement, there was no rSAP on the phone, while all current high end models do carry support for it. Thus thought that a simple program or rom fix would provide it.... sadly enough, while some stuff works, it is very very flaky.
So it's a combination issue, off course I realize that. But I'd rather replace my phone and sell the x1, then having to change the carkit piece in my car (it is far more expensive). And still, I just cannot believe that such a basic function, is not in there.
Especially because it is made by HTC, which do carry this functionality!
So the problem was created by having both products in the same time frame. And my reluctance to believe such a high end phone would not carry this protocol.
From closer reading though. It seems that the x1 (with a custom rom) is not at fault here. If my speculations are right, any htc device with rsap from factory even has a big change that it is not going to function. Also reflected by my tests.
Using a HTC touch HD based rom on the X1, rsap is added and functions brilliantly using a KPN sim. Vodaphone works sometimes and crashes the carkit now and then and using a t-mobile sim, it does not work, at all. Since I have a t-mobile business account... it doesn't work at all for me.
I have not been able to get a hold of a Touch HD or Touch Pro to test if these problems also form on that phone, but will do so when I get the change.
So for now, even the HTC software seems to be bugged and thus I have formed my conclusion that my best option is to go back to nokia (which I have used for about 10 years now). The x1 is great, but not beying able to call in the car.... that just isn't going to work for me.
The new N97 looks pretty decent....
I have a jetta 06 tdi with mfd2(dvd version rev c) and skoda (kufatec) bluetooth modul installed by myself. I can do a Synchronisation of the Phonebook with Names and Numbers , dialed and missed calls , incomming calls with Names and i have a option to accept or decline a Call from the fis display , using my Multifunction Steering Wheel. Everything working perfect with my Xperia x1i.
Hmm
Most likely that module is a fiscon module or an older part of skoda. Am I correct?
The fiscon does not use rsap and older premium carkits from VW also did not. But their newest carkits included in the passat CC and skoda superb II are rsap only.

Im not sure we can post a direct link here to another website , but there is what im using in my Jetta : http://www.kufatec.de/shop/product_....html/XTCsid/9f268df051bdc7806c7825cc426d606c
Old Version
Ah, yes. That is an orginal skoda part, but it is the older version from the Superb I and not the Superb II. That uses the other profiles and not rSAP.
touch HD behaves just the same
Hi everybody.
I had the chance to test both X1 (rSAP from cabs in post #3, thanks by the way) and HD (native rSAP implementation) on a VW touareg premium car kit and I must say they suffer from the same problems: most of the time the connection is established, but immediately drops and enters an endless loop of connection/disconnection, where everything can happen: car kit crashes, phone crashes, vodafone goes bankrupt, etc.
What hurts the most, though, is that very rarely and randomly, the connection with X1 is firmly established and everything, for unknown reasons, starts to work fine. This drives me crazy, for it would be a lot easier to cope if the feature wasn't available full stop.
Nonetheless, this makes me think a solution must exist somewhere, but I'm too much of a noob to find it...
Hope this helps, byebye.

Mercedes BT Remote Sim Access SAP, any news

Hi everybody,
is there any news using the Mercedes Bluetooth SAP cradle with the HTC Touch HD?
Comand will detect the Phone, but then won't trigger the authentication dialog on the phone but instead gives up immediately.
Thanks
Frank
The version using remote SIM access will not work, you have to replace it with the Hands Free Profile adaptor Mercedes Part No:B6787 5877, which works fine but doesn't use the antenna and amp built into the car, it uses the phone's own antenna so connection is not as reliable. Has been working OK for me though.
SAP compatibility
Yeh, I would of thought a high profile phone like the HD would support this.
I have had to settle for the far inferior HFP with poor connectivity and reception.
I don't think it is rocket science, but perhaps less of a priority for our wizards at XDA.
Would welcome any suggestions besides changing my phone or my car.
I'm using the MB Bluetooth cradle adaptor in an '07 ML. Pairs up and works great for answering and dialing out but there is no access to the HD phonebook or previously dialed numbers. Sad as the wifes iPhone is 100% compatible.

I have exactly the same problem, just added a new post on this!
I find that once you flash a rom you can have full functionality but when you add any extra programs you cannot view the address book or the recent calls.Very frustrating.
It would be awesome if someone stumbled upon a tweak that would correct the problem. I'll try some bluetooth setting changes in montecristoff's HD tweak and report back if I have any success.
I am using the VW Passats Sim Access Profile and this works perfectly. Make sure that the SAP is activated under the bluetooth settings on the phone..
I also cannot sync the adress book, but had the same problem with my old Touch. Guess this is a WinMob problem. A workaround is to use the SIM Manager and copy your contacts on your SIM card as well, they won't show up in the contact list anyhow. Then have the car sync with the SIM card and all is ok...

Thanks,I've tried that, unfortunately it still does not work.Considering this state of the art equipment, its very sad that there is still no solution after many years(given that I am sure this is possible with a little effort by the people in the know how).Mercedes have screwed this up big-style..again
Actually, I'm not sure its MB's fault. Like I said the wifes iPhone is 100% compatible and so was her Motorola razr before that. To me this points the finger at WM.

Actually it's Mercedez's fault. MB is known by the lack of support for BT connection on their cars...
My father has a CLS, and by default only supports a handful of mobile phones. He has a SE k800i and the CLS wont go with that phone. And there's a official list, from MB, with only a few phones that work with the builtin BT on the CLS.
On the other hand his phone works like a charm, like my HD, on my BMW S1. This also includes full support on BT SAP.
Shame to MB
Note: I don't know if these issues have changed lately, ie more support to more BT phones from MB on their cars. Maybe now MB has more support on this.
I've got a jvc headunit which is pairing nicely and auto connecting with my hd, one main issue though it it doesn't seem to be sending through the id3 tags, anyone managed to get these sent through from htc touchflo 3d?
i`m having the same problem! using the HTC Touch Pro with Mercedes Bluetooth HFP Cradle on E Class. Everything works perfect, except the thing, that i can`t see my contacts on the Command!
Any suggestions, please
N95 and SAP
I have a Nokia N95 8gb and I'm thinking of buying the Mercedes bluetooth SAP-profile for my CLK. I was a bit surprised though when I read on www.viseeo.se (in Sweden) that the SAP-profile does not import the contacts from the phone memory, only the SIM-memory.
Anybody using N95 with the MB SAP that can confirm this?
I prefer original MB products of course.
Thanks!
I can confirm that the N95 8GB works with the SAP module but you do have to copy your contacts onto the SIM.
Rapidly starting to regret getting a new Sony X1...
Are there any news about this problem?
I cannot connect the htc touch hd with the BT craddle from my mercedes glk (partnbr: A2048200535).
I had no problems with accessing the phonebook (POL and SIM) with the HFP Module on my 2005 C-Class (Comand) and my Orbit. The 2009 C-Class uses a different system so I cant say anything about the HD. BUT, I had good success (in the former car) with this little software when it came to the sync of bigger contact lists: JetWare Mobile http://www.jetwaremobile.com/
Lets you choose what contacts you want to sync. Perhaps it helps you with your problem, too.
