HERM100 vs HERM200 - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General
What is the difference between these two variants?
I get the impression that the HERM100's are made into the carrier devices like Orange M3100's, VarioII's, Dopod 838's etc...
And the HERM200's are made into TyTN's
Does anyone know for sure what the score is with the two types is though?

As long as I've read on the forum, the main differences between HERM100 and HERM200 are the processor clock speed 300Mhz on HERM100 and 400Mhz on HERM200 and the keyboard layout. It seems that HERM100 was used on some early development divices. You can find a lot more information here:

No, the 300Mhz was an early development version. Both HERM100 and HERM200 have a 400Mhz processor.
We still don't really know the differences.
My guess is just like the Wizards the 100 and 200 will dictate the base form factor before operator customisations go on (silk screen, plastics etc.).
For example the Vodafone branded Hermes is an HERM200 and I would suspect the Dopad 838 for example would be a HERM100 as it uses the other main button layout.
Like the Wizard I doubt there are any noteworthy differences in the hardware and in due time I would suspect the ROM's will be interchangeable.
Really enjoying the few Vodafone branded Hermes I have to test on but I do find I am missing one or 2 features from the Wizards that I came to love. The wheel is a nice but not quite as nice as say the 4 way jog on SE P910 I had many moons ago.

Agreed, that a 4 way jog/wheel would have been a nice extra touch.
I like the layout or HERM100 devices in respect to the D-pad and surrounding keys...

Really a good guess! I believe, your right! I posted it to the Wiki.
My Orange SPV M3100 HERM100 device came shipped with a battery model number HERM160 with 1300mAh capacity.
My HERM200 HTC Tytn branded device came with a HERM161 batterywith 1350mAh capacity.......
Make sure you get the HERM200 if you want those crucial extra 50mAh! :lol:
After some research I found they are the same with little finishing differences.

on the official i-mate website the specs read 1300 mah battery. is that a typo ?
which vendor makes the better version of the Hermes. i live in the US and i would not want to get an american version of this phone since american vendors usually butcher the crisp european phones that come in (god knows why)
what do we know about HERM300 and in the TyTN version (herm200) it comes with 2 different ext-roms 106 and 105 , anyones take on that ?

imate JasJam is HERM100 device, so it comes with HERM160 battery which is 1300 mAh.

Do not worry about the extrom, you can change it to your liking without having to reflash.

I don't really care... differences are minor and hardware it's the same... only buttons and color changes, and 50mAh difference in battery is not too much noticeable.

As there seem to be HERM100 devices shipped HERM161 batteries I updated the WIKI accordingly
I have a UK T-Mobile HERM300, 1350mAh HERM161 battery.
of course there are differences
herm100 has toppoly front panel logic boards
herm200 has hitachi boards.
herm100 and herm200 has different LCD panel models.
herm200 has LCD 60H0056-00M while herm100 has 60H00037-01M
there are many other diff. between those two cousins.

I have a Softbank X01HT which is a HERM200, but it comes with a metallic surface 1300mAh batter marked HTBAA1

Would be good if people learned that its not possible to measure performance just based on megahertz.
Dual processing , greater battery performance . Benchmarked already to perform better than the Magician . WM2005 helps out a lot here too , it's a design thing and the developers have listened . Battery technology is not moving as fast as chipset technology so enhance the processor and the operating system to compensate. Makes sence to me . If your not convinced, then wait , I'm sure there will be loads of reviews coming up soon. Shallax , I'm sure you've seen this but this what the wizard will be put on Ebay for. Yep, definitely sounds good... but I need a phone NOW! Maybe I'll upgrade later down the road ;p And yes, being without a phone is pretty bad - having never smoked I can't really compare ;p

IMHO HTC messed up with the qtek s200
Hi all, I was really happy to recieve my qtek s200 about a month ago. I don't wan't to ***** and complain a whole lot about the s200, as it generally is a nice phone and overall good improvement over my previous qtek 2020 from some years ago. A few minor querks could be the low volume and placement of the power on/off button, but nothing I can't live with. This post, however, is just to hear if anyone else feels, as I do, disappointed due to the fact that you are not able to change the roms, as easily, as you might have come to expect from HTC devices. Come on! I buy a WM5 device for well over £350, and then I DO EXPECT that things will run smoothly, including rom upgrades. But, no! I for one am really dissappointed. I cannot flash any roms, that are available, outside those "soon to be comming" from the place I purchased. I am still waitning. I-mate seems, however, to support their customers well, but qtek will not even recognise my IMIE number from the reseller where I bought my phone. So now I have the option to either wait or pay extra to get a danish rom on my qtek s200! What will they think of next?! I can only say that I am beginning to loose faith in qtek and HTC for that matter. Please prove me wrong :roll: Kind regards, Gnuig

We *always* have had to jump through vendor id hoops with HTC devices to load different vendor roms, just because someone writes a tool to get around this easily doesn't mean it actually is easy! and Qtek are *well known* for their lack of support - it's a reason often given why their devices are cheaper to purchase than i-mate. Moan about Qtek, not about HTC - they didn't make you buy a Qtek product.....and in future buy an i-mate, or JAFWM to load roms more easily or search for the leaked roms when they become available from Qtek. I guess a more correct title for this topic could have been: IMHO HTC messed up the qtek s200 -> IMHO QTEK messed up the prophet! I do however, compared to my previously good experience with the qtek 2020, feel that HTC still made the device... so as to allow QTEK to lock it "more" from the other brand names i.e. i-mate, jafwm etc. I do agree, I should have read more on the Qtek s200 before buying and xda-dev does a good job informing and all, yet it is difficult for anyone (especially a nob) to find just the right post... telling you NOT TO BUY the QTEK S200, if you hope for good support on a prophet. Living in Denmark, I actually believe that Dangaard Data (qtek distributer) does give good support, just not on qtek's purchased abroad. I have learned from my mistakes, and still would say, IF EVER, I was to buy another WM5 device, I will only buy from a shop in Denmark... we also get 2 years service, which don't think you get abroad as a standard. Anyway, you could be right about qtek on the average. I just whish I had purchased mine 1) either in Denmark og 2) NOT AT ALL. Back to my Nokia 9500 for now. Cheers, Gnuig
I don't get it. Why do you want to change ROMs all the time? -- And why would that be such a strong determining factor in you choosing not to use the device, especially since, as you say, it's actually an improvement over your 2020? Personally, I'm waiting patiently for the next official S200 ROM update from Qtek. I love my S200!

This is what I have been looking for in 3 weeks, because the Qtek-service in Denmark is not working until (last time I looked at www.qtek.dk ) the 18th of april. I have the following devices with me now: Dopod U1000 (WWE) O2 Xda Atom Life ETEN Glofiish M700 ETEN Glofiish X500 The best voice quality (phone) is Dopod U1000,then Atom Life and X500 (ROM version 354) The best responsiveness is Atom Life, then U1000 and X500 The best video quality with Core player is Atom Life The best battery life is X500 U1000 is great to use with its board features (VGA out...) and 100% replace my laptop...

htc 8125 vs htc p4300?
whats the differences? i know they are tiny because i had a p4300 and i needed parts and bought parts for an 8125 and they fit exact match right in and they look nearly identical but the price difference's are quite different?
Electronically, and with WM5 ROMs, they are identical. The only differences are cosmetic. P4300 has a dark trim, 8125 has a silver one.
