- Changes to Signal indicator on top bar
- New Network Connection Settings added
Plus is reportedly upgrades the machine to AKU2.3.

sweet... but don't i have to do some crazy thing to my MDA to beable to get this ROM on there? I heard updating the ROM is hard

I am running this ROM, and I can tell you it is not too hard to do. Start by downloading lokiwiz from here.
Specific directions are included in that thread, but it is as simple as copying the enable RAPI cab to your device and running it, and then connecting the usb cable to the computer and running lokiwiz. do both the Super CID and the SIM unlock now (this may not be nessesary if your device is a t-mobile MDA, but it is best to just do it now, just in case...)
Once you are unlocked, it is as simple as downloading the ROM, connecting the USB and doubble clicking the installer... Follow the prompts, and you have a new ROM
I personally am running the 2.26 T-mobile ROM, and I really like it... If you haven't upgraded from the stock rom, I would reccomend giving it a try.
I hope this helps... And If you have any questions please let me or someone else know... It is better to ask a stupid question than fry your wizard...
EDIT--- The link to Lokiwiz I posted is to an upgraded version that I don't know how to use, it appears it has been upgraded for the newer ROMS, but dosen't work the same as the older version... If you have an MDA I would try the upgrade without it.... SORRY

It's an official rom no need to unlock anything - just download it and follow the instructions . . . .

OK
so my stupid question:
1. Does this update change the radio ROM, IPL and SPL?

Yes it does Change Everything
IPL: 2.26
SPL: 2.26
ROM version: 2.26.10.2
ROM date: 6/7/06
Radio Version: 2.25.11
Protocol Version: 4.1.13.12
OS Build version: 14955.2.3.0

Don't know if you can adjust you topic title but there are a few threads already running in the "Wizard Upgrading" section.
You're talking about the T-Mobile 2.26 version. That's not realy new. So if anybody wan't some answers just check the "Wizard Upgrading" section. 'Cause that's where it should be

Ah damn! I just upgraded to 2.24, is it worth doing this uprgrade?
If I installed all my programs to my Memory Card will they still be on the program list or will I have to load them all up again?
CHEERS!

Ok, maybe a silly question but...
Can I put a US carrier's ROM on my UK phone? Like the radio stack is compatible and all that?

Thanks Starcruiser1229, yeah I upgraded my rom ... although i still can't get EDGE to work (and im supposably in an EDGE enabled town) but that is a whole different subject.
anyway, thanks.

anyone no longer need nullkb?

hey - where did you find the site http://www.t-mobileapps.com ?
does TMobile publicize this site at all? (not that it seems to show much)

In previous stock TMO ROM, landscape mode with keyboard open popped up the virtual on-screen keyboard. I used NullKB to keep that from happening.
Now, with the new ROM released today, the virtual on-screen keyboard doesn't pop up in landscape mode.
Just checking with everyone else.

Yep, I've already did with xelencin's 2.24 T-Mobile rom from this site. One catch though there is a slight difference in the keyboard layout between the U.S. and U.K. but you can fix that by a reg. hack.
Use Total Commander and add the hack :
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale = 0809 hex
I have a O2 XDA Mini S using the U.S. T- Mobile rom. I haven't upgraded to the new rom yet.

The link I believe is part of T-Mobile's parent company. If you login to your T-Mobile account and select MDA as your phone, then click the link "support for MDA" at the top of the screen it will take you to another screen which has the link "System Upgrade"

Kind of ironic, I was just browsing around before posting about where to find upgraded ROMs!
I'm running a UK Tmobile MDA Vario, but I'm in Canada. Just to be sure, if I download this ROM and then do the keyboard registry hack, I should be good right? I'm still on ROM version 1.6.2.4 WWE
Thanks!

You should be, I'm in the U.S. and won the UK device from www.4WinMobile.com . It was running software branded by the company O2, I flashed it with a U.S. T-Mobile Rom and haven't had any problems. The only real difference in all of the HTC Wizard devices is the Version of WM5 Rom your running and the Extended Rom put out by the company selling the device. (I am in no way an expert this is my understanding from what I have read,)
I hope to have time to upgrade to the new rom this weekend.

Any source for downloading ? even if it is only a ROM-image
Pls send mi address as well...
I already posted in another thread, please note:
The image can be downloaded on the first site...
however, I have just reflashed my XDA/MDA with the older irish ROM, it has plenty more features than this one, GPRS standby and ISDN call type.
Don't trust the version numbers

Well thanks for ur enlightenment but this is a newer version for the Qtek and is newer than the version delivered on the 64MB version...No one said that it is the BEST for a XDA\MDA ! thats why it was on a Qtek support page! so I dont know what you mean with Version Numbers ?
I wanted to say that although it is the newer and the most recent version I've seen, it is way "older" in the mean of capabilities That's why I said not to trust version numbers. The Irish (3.15.15) ROM is way "newer"
Btw I didn't want to confuse you, it's just that who would want to apply this update if there was a better one? So I report this one is not worth updating.
P.S. I have mistaken Dutch ROM for Irish, just keep looking for 3.15.15

It's just it's absolutely pointless for an average for-rom-update-looking-xda-user to download and try this ROM. Is that so hard to understand? I believe not

then i will make a new tread of it, just for all those other strugling users like myself, who realy didn´t dare to touch the settings, afraid the magic would end....

WM2003
Hey guys,
Which version of WM2003 does NOT have the t-mobile features built in? I've tried 4.01.16 and it rocks except it has a lot of these t-mobile builtin functions (such as it's internet explorer connections being designed for t-mobile) which doesn't work for me since I have an O2 XDA and use it in the Philippines though at the same time I don't want to give up the benefits of having WM2003. Which version ROm should I get? WM2003 4.01 BETA?
Thanks in advance for the advice.
4.01.00 has the Tmobile stuff in it as well. I think 4.00.16 doesn't, but one thing you lose is the Settings menu to choose 1900 or 900 MHz band. You can change this in the boot menu, but in my experience this sometimes leads to a cold boot.
For the past 6 months I've been running 4.00.11 ROM with 6.18.00 Radio,
that was cooked in one of the Kitchens. I use it on T-Mobile USA network and have run it throughout Asia. It is mostly excellent. 3 questions:
1. The original details about the T-Mobile upgrade stated it runs LANDSCAPE mode on the fly. I really want the upgrade, mainly for this feature. This feature no longer is advertised. Is it in the upgrade?
2. There is a rom kitchen listed in this forum that has the new ROM 4.01.16 listed as a choice. Does anyone know iif this version is the newest T-Mobile version or just an earlier beta? Does this version have Landscape mode?
3. The original ROM kitchens discussed how thier cooked roms were less memory intensive than official ROMs because they eliminated some kind of T-Mobile architecture. Does anyone rmember what this was and if it is still true?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Band changing with t-mobile software
Just out of curiousity, is the hardware for t-mobile and XDA exactly the same? I mean can I actually switch the band to the US frequency when I'm there and get my phone to work there?

I think the great differance between original ROMs and cooked Roms is, that the free space in the ROM can be used for own programs and the programs will still be on the device after a hard reset....

Qtek 9100 1.6.7.1 ROM available

This is buried in some other threads, so here you go
(First off, I take no responsibility! Dumped using aWizard tools, and you can find more info in that thread on these forums.)
ROM version: 1.6.7.1 WWE
date 11/28/05
radio 1.13.10
protocol 4.0.13.24
extrom: 1.6.7.101
Here are the links and anyone is welcome to upload it to the FTP...

http://www.richardgoodwin.com/Qtek_9100_1_6_7_ENG_Extended_ROM2.zip
Note that it doesn't contain radio firmware, etc. It is just the OS and ROM2.
n return I ask for your comparison in terms of speed, included apps, stability, etc. versus your current version. Reply to forum....
how do we install the nba?
Here's the thread with aWizard. http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=37386
It's very easy...connect via usb, make sure Activesync is connected, then (going from memory here, but the tool will prompt you anyway )
Enable RAPI
Unlock (if not using a Qtek)
'w' to write the file
cross fingers and wait for phone to reboot
But again, only do it if you're comfortable! I am no Qtek representative
Ouch, i got rom-version 1.3.7.13 ... Is it many new fixes in this one?

extended rom version?
What is the difference betwen the normal and extended rom version?
I unlocked (also CID unlocked) mine SPV M3000 and run now a Qtek 9100 version on it...
Hi Sorry if this is a stupid question,
but I'm assuming that the ROM upgrade - http://www.richardgoodwin.com/Qtek_9100_1_6_7_ENG.zip
will update the OS ONLY (ie WM5) and NOT alter the contents of the Extended ROM??
I ask because I want to keep my T-mobile UK customisations (Found in the extended ROM) as they have my internet settings etc. I dare say one day I'll get around to finding out what they are so I can ditch the T-mobile stuff.
P.S Just in case I have backed up my extended ROM stuff just in case
Thanks in advance
John
Correct, the OS is the OS, the Extended ROM is separate
Anything cool in that Tmobile Ext ROM?
Not really, it seems to customise the look of the PDA - easily altered using Pocket Plus, and it sets the IE homepage and settings. What all the others do is anybodies guess??
Mine has these:--Seems a lot- I wonder what they all do and whether they are really needed??

Hi Mate,
Could you tell us what is your after-upgrading Windows Version is?
Mine is 5.1.70 (build 14406.1.1.1), if your WM5 version differs then there is at least one reason to upgrade my Qtek9100 rom (1.1.7.9). Otherwise it seems that 1.6.7.1 is the same as 1.1.7.1 in terms of OS
Thanx in advance
Sorry if this is a silly question, but can I use this on my O2 XDA mini s?
Will I lose or gain anything over the O2 ROM (that was shipped with the handset)?
The one feature I REALLY want is A2DP so I can use my bluetooth stereo headphones.

What is not clear for me at the moment is the extended rom issue ?
Is this a sort of addition ?
Can anyone help this newbie ?
Heya rgoodwin,
What was the original source of your ROM? Did you modify it in any way? The ROM that TMO UK offers is version 1.6.2.4, so yours appears a bit more "advanced".
Sorry if this info is posted elsewhere - I even went to your site, rgoodwin, and couldn't find a listing. Nice low carb story, btw!
Can you update the ROM without losing any data on the device?

Last Official ROM

Hello,
Can you please tell me what's the last official ROM for the G3 Wizard?
I tried lots of ROMs, WM5, WM6, official, not official, the most stable one was 2.26 from T-Mobile.
Is there any other official version better than this one? T-mobile, Qtek, I-Mate, I don't care.
Thanks

There seems to be a maintenance release out from T-Mobile here. I haven't installed it, so I can't comment.
Can you please tell me more about that release?
I don't have a valid T-Mobile number to see what's in there. Maybe you can PM me your phone number?
Thanks
When I looked at it further, it looks just like a different path to the 2.26 version. It confused me because it is on the same page as the Dash WM6 upgrade.
No, it is not on the same page! T-Mobile has a 'default' page where you choose your device, then they redirect you from there to the correct software.
In their opinion it might be more 'user friendly' but I think it is confusing: you select your device in first place at the t-mobile site, then they redirect you to the firmware download section and let you select your device again ... strange!
so, after all, is there any other version than 2.26 ? something newer?

Not in the US. The only one newer than that is a german AKU3.3 ROM from T-Mobile Germany. But I asume you wouldn't like your phone in german ... T-Mobile UK has version 2.21 and from other manufacturers (rebadgers) like I-Mate they are even older: 2.17 and lower.

That's too bad !!!
And I assume they won't release any newer ROM right?
At least they did not announce anything - but HTC is always good for a surprise! Even though the T-Mobile MDA is discontinued by T-Mobile there is still a big chance that HTC will release a WM6 version sooner or later (if enough customers are going to bother them!!! )
Hell that would be nice, but i cant see them doing it otherwise they have to release more updates when WM6 starts getting AKU updates every other month.

As you can see on all that 'public' and 'official' releases: You never get A L L released AKU versions of WM for a device - only a few 'selected' one's.

Could you point me to this ROM?
I'm not a T-Mobile customer and even if I would be, I wouldn't like me phone to be branded. Does installing this rom make my phone pink? That's all I fear
I am not sure to which rom in my post you're reffering to! No, it will not make your phone pink! If you ever want it unbranded (well, almost unbranded) make a hard reset and when done with the screen alignment and skipping the password setup just soft reset the device before the CUSTOM ROM gets a chance to install itself automatically!
To be more clear: you will shortly see the today screen and then a message pops up telling you that customization will start in 3 seconds - this is where you should perform the reset ...
Downside:
You will have to manually configure your device for MMS and GPRS.

Softbank X01HT questions..

Hi all, I've received a really deal good for a Softbank X01HT. I was wondering if like the other Hermes, the only difference in this unit is the button layout and OS language. If I upgrade to any other Hermes ROM will it function like a regular Hermes? Thank you for replies.
Yes, basically it will work as long as you have your device SIM / CID unlocked.
I say 'basically' because of I found some incompatibilities on my HERMES (a AT&T 8525). It does not accept the German T-Mobile ROM and also not the ORANGE CH. Other than that I did not get any problems.
You might wanna read the HERMES UPGRADE sections in the WIKI first? That should get you started!
Thanks for your quick reply Junner, I appreciate it
Another question has arisen; the unit I'm getting is in english language, so presumably a different ROM has been flashed to it. Does this mean that the phone is now SIM unlocked? Or does Softbank have english versions of their phones as well? Mine will be a white one, not sure when it was manufactured.
Hello,
If its already in English then chances are that it was flashed with a WM5 English ROM. If you're lucky, then the phone could be SIM unlocked, but ROMs can be flashed if the phone is Super CIDed... The white edition models were made after Softbank issued an update for all their phones..
My bet is that your phone is Super CIDed.. but heck, you'll never know these days, you could get lucky and have it SIM unlocked!
Softbank do have english versions of their phones, but the X01HT is just one of their exceptions...
I'm using the Black X01HT flashed with a WM6 Rom.. and its great! You won't be dissapointed!
Hey nesy, thanks for the heads up. I've got the phone in my hands, it works great. It's been flashed with some version of WM6, not sure which flavour. And it's goot IPL 1.01 and SPL 1.40.Olipro. My guess is that this was unlocked by imei-check, and it must be SuperCID too. Will be sure once I probe the internals with mtty. My only concern now is whether if I'm able to upgrade the radio, since I've read reports of some people being unable to flash over radio 1.14.something.
Is there really a downside to being stuck at radio 1.14 found in the Softbank phones? If so, what are they? Improved reception? stability?
well my softbank phone was at radio 1.14, I was able to upgrade it without any problems to 1.50.... you dont really have to upgrade, but I found that any version above 1.2 had better battery life...
I have a X01 that I just bought with a Chinese ROM (I am currently in China) and it was already unlocked. I had no problems putting an English Rom on. Be sure to change the keyboard layout to Japanese, I had mine set to Chinese for a while and 2 buttons were different.
Question: What are the advantages to upgrading the radio? Can anyone provide a link that explains how to upgrade / advantages to upgrading?

I also just upgraded to 1.41... I use the method that temporarily Super-Cids it. But dont ask me how that works because I have no idea.
Could you link me or PM me with how you did that? All the wikis stated that I can't upgrade the radio to anything else because of the bootloader. And I tried it too, the radio ROM gets flashed, but upon reboot, the same old version number is shown. Thanks in advance.

Hey dude, there are many advantages to upgrading the radio.. especially if you're still at 1.14... For instance, in Japan and China, the networks are UMTS here... although radio 1.14 gives satisfactory reception, higher versions improve this as well as enabling HSDPA (higher 3G download speeds) . The battery management is improved, and currently I'm using radio version 1.48 (1.50 was a battery sucker when using WM6)
you should read this before upgrading the radio:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Hermes
and read under 'Upgrading and Cooking'
and to flash the radio you HAVE to install Hard SPL.. this is a modified bootloader for the hermes.. and also it prevents it from bricking when you upgrade the ROM or radio.
Get it and the guide here:
http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=30&Itemid=27
Finally,
Go here:http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_ExtractedRadioRoms
and choose what Extracted Radio ROM that you want to install. Download it, run the EXE file and run through the program wizard.
After the radio has been uploaded to your device, it should reboot and you'll hopefully see some improvement!
Also another thing, be sure to search the forums, there are many great guides here, much better than my attempt
Hopefully that answers your question Pasan, you could try to do the method mentioned above by courtlandre which is to temporarily SuperCID it, but I didn't use that, i ended up unlocking my phone and SuperCID'ed it... so that my upgrade process will always be stress-free

I am using SPL 1.10 I think (wiki or a sticky will have instructions on how to install this).
Then I just downloaded the radio rom and installed it. Worked fine with no problems.
Thanks neshyd, I once tried upgrading to HardSPL 2.30 but it didn't work, upon reboot it was still on 1.40.olipro. This phone was unlocked by the imei-check people and they may have done something to prevent future SPL upgrades.
