Intermittent problem making calls on O2 XDA Exec - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

I have an HTC Universal (O2 XDA Exec).
I've had the phone since the end of March and got it as new from an O2 store here in the UK and it has functioned as expected
I upgraded to the latest ROM using the ROM upgrade from the O2 UK website pretty much as soon as the ROM was published online and the phone has performed well.
ROM Version 1.30.107 WWE
ROM date 04/11/06
Radio version 1.09.00
Protocol version 42.42.p8
For the last two weeks however I have been experiencing an intermittent problem. I've had the problem occur maybe 4 times in two weeks
Occasionally I will dial a phone number and get a connection as expected. The person I am calling can hear me as expected but I only hear silence on the line. This will happen for many numbers that I try. I will then try a different number and I can then suddenly make a succesful call. Incidentally, if I try calling from another phone I can get through OK, so it's clear it's a problem on the phone and not the network
The problem is intermittent.
I took the phone to an O2 shop last weekend and they tried to make a call on the phone. They called their own store number and found the problem as I described above.
The problem does not always manifest itself so it's difficult to demonstrate it repeatedly.
Has anyone come up against this and are there any DIY fixes?
I've sent an email to HTC through their online support portal. I'm planning on giving their customer support desk a call if I do'nt get a response.
Many thanks

Bug in SMS on the I-Mate AKA XDA II

I am lucky enough to live in Dubai, so I went out and purchsed the beast today..but I have found a bug in the SMS part, if you address it to a person with a GSM Intenationl formated number i.e. +971 50 xxxxxxxx
then it automatical removes the "+" which then causes the send to fail, I can however make a voice call to that same person "Phone" does not remove the "+", is this new I dont have this on my old Qtek or my i-mate Smartphone ? , I have tried to change the "Dialing Rules" but that dont seem to fix it either...
and Suggestions...
Derek
BTW if i manually insert the "+" it does send correctly...
Just found out that if I dont go via "Contacts" but open the new SMS and just start to type the persons name , then a pop up appears with all matches , selecting the enrty here "does" select the right format i.e.
Via Contacts on "97150xxxxxx" is inserted into the "TO" field instead of "+97150xxxxxx" , typing via the "V-Keyboard" and selecting inserts "Derek M<+97150xxxxxx>"...
what if you replace
+ with 00
you can do that as far as i know at least on std cellphones
that only works if the provider and the local country supports the "00" the gsm standard is "+" for intrnational access... Last summer I could easly make calls from Canada, USA, Germay and South Africa without changing the numbers in my phone...so why should M$ change this all of a sudden ?
BTW the whole software seems buggy !, I used the PC2003 on my Qteck thanks to the ROM kitchen, but now on the HTC implimentation of the PC2003 things are far from well I have hade the device 10 hours now and have lost 8 calls in flight, had to reset the thing 6 times due to hangs (mostly in an app when you press the Green Phone Button)
Don't worry about that.
Send your message anyway and it will reach.
I tried it locally.
I'll try it internationally and let you know.
I was in the UK last week , and really poor performance on O2 , VF was better but I had so many "Cant Take The Call!"...
:!: I can confirm the bug. it amazes me, that this slipped past HTC quality control, since it is so obvious.
BTW: Replacing the "+" with "00" gets you into trouble with MS Outlook, which then cant parse the numbert any more.
Seems to be fixed allready.
ROM version 1.03.00 USA
ROM date 09/24/03
Radio version 1.05.12
I found that it can't cope with a leading zero in the STD code (e.g. +44(020)8.... ) but after correcting for that it worked just fine strait out of the box.

Not on my handset here with the same software as you stated. Mine does exactly the same thing, removes the prevailing + from the contacts number. Hopefully will be fixed in the next ROM upgrade.
Hi guys!
The "new" ROM version 1.60, either from T-mobile or Dangaard for Qtek 2020, does NOT show the problem with the leading +.
I had originally 1.03 USA, but can not confirm if the problem was there too.
Good luck.
T-mobile upgrade was the smoothest one I've made to date. Currently using the county-id-hacked one from Dangaard, cause I've a Qtek.

SMS Bug in new Qtek 2020 phone - unable to send to Vodafone
Hi all,
I just received my new Qtek 2020 PDA phone from Expansys in the UK, down here in New Zealand. At first things looked great (eg. working) but when I went to send an SMS message, it failed , no matter what format I used. Then I came across this forum where the same problem also existed. My phone has the following versions ...
ROM version 1.03.00 USA
ROM date 09/24/03
Radio version 1.05.12
Protocol Version: 1.337.12
ExtROM Version: 1.03.21
Does anyone know where an upgrade can be obtained for an unlocked Qtek 2020? I am still waiting on a response from Expansys.
Snowman.
well one have to make sure that one is using the localizer because it have alot to say about how such things are handled

Need advice: Can't receive calls until I make one myself

Hi
I've been following this forum for a while and you guys seem pretty competent. I believe you are my best shot at fixing my rather serious problem...
I have several simcards, and two of them are showing very weird behavior in my Qtek S100. I am running the latest official ROM for my specific Danish Magician, the MA_DANG_WWE_10600_115_10500_SHIP.exe, downloaded from this site.
When using one of these bad simcards, I can't receive calls until I have made one myself. All incoming call are sent directly to voice mail. Restart the phone and I have to make a call again! Seems to me like my Magician doesn't log fully on to the cellular network?
The rest of the simcards are working fine. The big problem is that one of the card making trouble is the one I am paying $50 on each month
I was under the impression that this problem could be related to some of my simcards being 16K only, so I had one of them replaced today, but still no go. Of course I could have received yet another 'old' card, but what are the odds?
I have done a number of soft/hard resets and ROM/radio up/downgrades, but it doesn't change a thing. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Random Reboots :-(

NOOO!!!
Is my XDA2 on its way out?!? I've had it since the end of 2003, but since I dropped the original O2 ROM back into it (Post-WM2k5) and applied the updates from O2, it's rebooted on me twice. Once I was in the train station playing Solitaire and it dropped out on me, and it did the same again about 45 minutes ago shortly after I connected it to the PSU. Battery at 40% and 90% respectively, so that seems unlikely to me.
would help if you stated what version it is you call original o2 rom
I call it what I downloaded from the O2 site, shipped out as an "Upgrade" (which is a complete ROM image)
ROM version: 1.72.00WWE
ROM date: 03/15/04
The update includes some fax software and other software upgrades, no ROM.
Mine has just done the exact same thing. Did it a few months back too. :?
If anyone has an explanation I'd love ot hear it
Mine used to do it before I upgraded to WM2003SE and 2005. But since going to 2005 its fine, just wish I could use MMS
Problem I had with 2005 was that I couldn't get the contacts out of my SIM. But I might have just been having a blonde week.
Strangely, the problem has not persisted.

Trinity: calls go directly to voicemail

I am using PocketPC smartphones ever since I bought my first QTek 1010, and I gave up the TyTn for my Trinity.
I upgraded the firmware to the latest (03 April 2007) release - which allowed me to install and use TomTom.
Since then, I often encounter the situation where callers get forwarded directly to my voicemail, without the phone even ringing.
I have to reset the phone to bring it out of this lock.
Do you have similar experiences?
Cheers, Stefan

I had this issue a while ago, but it hasn't happened in some time now.

Cingular 8525 plz help.

Hello,
I have a problem with delayed SMS/calls; I often receive my txt hours after they’ve been sent, also at times phone calls don’t come through. I've also noticed that it searches for network at least 3 times a day possibly even more. I have already tried hard resets, reinstalling the Rom and Radio also bought a new battery, however nothing fixed the problem. In addition I have contacted the provider and they’ve informed me that nothing is wrong with the network.
Cingular 8525 T-Mobile WM6 on Fido network.
ROM Version: 3.62.502.3
Radio Version: 1.54.07.00
Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you.
which rom are you using... have you thought about using a different rom and/or a different radio...? I'm assuming that your phone is unlocked, but using the OEM rom? I would try upgrading the radio first, just a thought, but it may be a reception problem.... have you confirmed the phone number that is being used for the text messages... It should be correct, but you never know... Anyway, just some random thoughts... Hope one helps...
