Bought a Used T-Mobile Mda on eBay that had a phone lock.... - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Is there a software or any tricks to by-pass the phone lock (password) on the T-Mobile MDA? I'm new at this, if there is a way please show me step by step. thanks in advance.
: Best Regards Babysheep :

Have you tried a hard reset or a new rom?

If you mean the simlock: search for a thread on "lokiwiz", that enables you to remove the simlock from your phone and CID unlock your phone so you can flash another ROM on it. If you are talking about the password, do a hard reset or flash a new ROM on it.

I think I'm getting the same problems as the OP. I also bought a MDA off ebay, that's still locked to T-mobile, but I dont have a T-mobile SIM card. So I can't use the "lokiwiz" program because I can't even access the OS. I also cant get my IMEI number for the same reason. So I can't buy a code online. So I'm stuck. I'm also not in the US so I can't borrow my friend's SIM to unlock it or anything like that. Would flashing the MDA to a new rom stop this? I'll appreciate any help, thanks.

Hi, first off, how do you do a hard reset? and I tired new rom but I am not sure if i did it right or not . I have just read the in t-mobile site to perform a hard reset but due to phone lock, i can not hit start and go into settings.. Please help! I know this is not a sim lock. The phone is asking for a 4 digit phone lock password.. any ideas?

For a hard reset you need to hold the comm-button on the upper left corner of the phone and the camera-button on the right side of the phone while it boots up. the esiest way is to do a soft reset and then hold the two buttons till you get the installation screen on your phone.

I think this thread is a bit confusing, since there are two locks being discussed in here right now.
babysheep is having troubles with the password that is set by the previous owner, that can be solved by the hard reset as said by freezor. His advice is a fine way to hard reset, the T-Mobile way has the same results, but is not possible due to the password. Use freezor's method and you should be ok.
Jugges is having simlock problems. Can you contact the seller to ask for the IMEI code? Alternatively, you can perhaps buy a T-Mobile prepaid SIM, although I am not sure that would work. Perhaps prepaid SIMs are also locked from the phone. Flashing a new ROM will NOT affect the SIMlock, so that is no option for you. Perhaps you better post your problem in the lokiwiz thread, perhaps they can help you better than we can here.

I think I should have read into Lokiwiz deeper. I didnt realize that you can still sync with your computer when there is no SIM installed. This allowed me to install the Lokiwiz cab, and unlock it. So everythings working now. Thanks for the help.

Hard Reset
I am also attempting a hard reset; the problem when I do the soft reset while holding the com and picture buttons, the screen that appears is 3 wide horizontal bands colored red, green, and blue. The only text is IPL 1.08, then a little below that is SPL 1.08. Any ideas?

Can my SPV M600 be saved? [stuck in 3 color screen]

Latest update: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=363228#363228
Let me first say: I am unsure if my SIM is now unlocked and if it has a CID check. Therefore I'm unsure if the info in the related topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=62496 applies. Therefore I'm posting this new topic.
I recently got a Orange SPV M600 which as far as I understand is a HTC Prophet. I am totally new to PDAs but wanting to use it with my T-Mobile sim and with a fair amount of computer knowledge on board decided to unlock it myself using imei-check.co.uk/m600unlock.php
I ran the program and it said the sim was succesfully unlocked. However when I tried to power on the device after that, it was stuck at the 3 color screen only displaying the values:
IPL 2.10.0001
SPL 2.10.0001
This gave me quite a scare because the device is brand new. Soft and hard reboot bring me back to the same screen. This morning I tried running the tool again and the unlocked failed giving me a message that key / imei do not match. After rebooting it now also shows the value RUU at the upper right corner of the screen.
I read some of the posts on this forum and did a little research on Google. I think I know what my next steps should be but I'm terrified to toast my M600.. I already fell in love with it! Could you guys give me feedback before I try the following?
* Download and unzip:
xda:[email protected]/Prophet/Shipped_Complete_Updates/RUU_Prophet_2151327_21513121_021921_DOP_ASIA_WWE_Ship-NoVendorID.zip
* Follow the steps on http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde...tion On How To Upgrade with Bootloader method
Should that work?
PS: what does the RUU value mean and why did it appear after my 2nd try?
Thanks in advance guys!
Have you tried contacting IMEI-check's support?
RUU is. IIRC, radio unit upgrade and it should not have appeared.
Don't flash the rom, you might need to send it back to orange / HTC and there is no official orange downloadable rom as yet so if the device boots to 'dopod' or whatever they'll know you've messed with it. If the key does not match sounds like the unlocking has screwed your imei. Does the IMEI the app now recognises match the one you paid for the unlock for or the one on the back of the unit/ box?
Richard
IMEI-check support:
The unlock has nothing to do with your device problem. You say yourself that it already turned on directly to 3 color screen after you switched it off (sometimes this happens due to problems in HTC flash driver). For a firmware flash you don't need Orange. You can do this on your computer at home.
Both the soft and the hard reset bring me back to the same 3 color screen..

Typically helpful....
I do not think it co-incidence that you are doing a flash operation ( unlocking) and now the device will not boot. It should reboot after unlocking according to their documentation and if it went to the tri-colour screen something was amiss after the unlocking then, quite possibly becuase of it. The unlock completed succesfully the first time then?
Don't flash the dopod rom, if the IMEI now has a mis-match you may need to send it back to orange for repair / reflashing. They will be able to tell if there is a dopod rom on there and may refuse warranty - I wouldn't mention the unlocking if I were you. There is no official orange rom you can try :-(
Richard
I do not have a receipt for the phone.. is the ROM at least the one I should try if I do try one?

In the UK at least you do not need a receipt for the phone - it is based on seriel number.
http://service.htceurope.com/
Once you have tried flashing the other roms they can tell you have been flashing it and may not give warranty service, but hopefully all it really needs is a rom anyway. My warning is just in case it is not the rom that is the issue and you need to send it back.
When you run imei-check's app now what IMEI does it give for the device?
Richard
Good question, I just checked and the IMEI in their tool gives me the same one as I wrote down before the operation. It is the same as on the box and as the one I payed for to get the key for and used the first time around.
I hoped the flash would solve my problems and I tried flashing the M600 with the ROM mentioned above. 100% completed and all looked good until the reboot.. Again it will not go further then the tri-color screen with the exception that the SPL version has changed:
IPL 2.10.0001
SPL 2.15.0001
Anything left to try?

Get back to IMEI-check and ask for more help? They may claim that the unit was faulty before unlocking but if so how could the unlocker run? Or try posting at www.modaco.com to see if anyone there has any ideas.
Which country was the device supplied in? Did you check the seriel in the link I gave? If it's from the UK you could send to a friend or collegue to return under warranty without paperwork ;-)
Sorry.
Richard
Well at least we made progress, a hard reset now let's the device boot but.. after I went through the settings I pressed start and it automaticly powered off.
I then inserted my T-Mobile simcard and rebooted again to find myself in the tri-color screen. Another hard reset once again let me reboot but during the boot of Windows Windows it says 'Data crashes. Please contact your service center.'
Where in the Netherlands do you live?
I have succesfully dopotted two M600 phones and I have had one repaired by Orange, for broken speaker. They did not seem to care that I flashed it to dopod.
I might be able to help you out on this one.
send me an e-mail on [email protected]
Thanks,
Robin

Richard
hi
i couldn't speak to the guy who tried to unlock it, i spoke to his collegue and all he could say is that he tried to unlock by logs
now he couldn't tell me what did he use
i have tried to hard reset it but it comes back on that screen
:? :? :?
Try to load the no id DOPOD ROM.
This one will install when the M600 is in that 3 colour screen.
I did it and it worked for me.
I tried to CID unlock with a tool that contained a specific WARNING NOT TO USE for a certain ROM version, which of course I did anyway.
The warning was correct. My M600 was stuck.
By reflashing I resolved the problem.
You can always bring it back to Orange and claim that this happened after you've let the battery go dead; you did not get a chance to charge on your 1,5 month holiday ..........
Good luck!

Problems after WM6 Upgrade :(

After (I think) successfully upgrading to WM6, I've had a few problems...
1) I can't seem to soft reset anymore (holding down Power at the top + the reset button)...it seems the only way I can now reset my unit is by physically removing the battery...
2) I can't access the bootloader SERIAL mode...I can access the options for the kernel hive and formatting storage, but no success being able to get into USB mode to reflash my unit
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated - I only bought this phone on Friday
1. This was hard reset in WM2003 - for soft reset just press the reset button
2. You need to press and hold power+reset+record(WMP) buttons at the same time
I suggest you read WIKI first before asking questions which are answered a million times
Thank you for the prompt reply.
I can understand your frustration with many people constantly asking these questions, but please don't make me feel like an idiot when I've actually read the Wiki and tried Googling the problem prior to posting.
To clarify, I know *how* to access the SERIAL option (I had to do it to upgrade from 2003 to WM6 to begin with). My point is that holding Reset+Power+Record doesn't work anymore. It just continues the boot process and goes straight to the Windows Mobile splash screen. The reset button, in and of itself, does nothing at all. I've tried everything from just tapping it a few times to pressing and holding it for upwards of 30 seconds...but it doesn't seem to do anything for me.
Try to hold and press power+record+cam buttons then press reset while holding those buttons.
Yeah, it does nothing...I have a feeling that the actual reset button is no longer working on the unit...not sure if that's to do with the upgrade to WM6, or if it's a hardware problem and just happens to be coincidence :-/
don't take xplode's advise wrongly. it's just that reading AND understanding the WIKI is important especially for beginners like yourself.
if you think you've successfully upgraded to WM6, it's probably because of the "Congratulations" message that was displayed... well, you're almost there, though not quite.
try to fully understand the no/yes/yes instruction in the WIKI... the reset+power+record combination is NOT what you should be doing. it has been replaced by another... here's the thread that could guide you... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=327978&highlight=kitl
and here's the pertinent wiki page...
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel_WM6_WizzardUpgrade4
good luck and welcome to the BA community.
Anyway if this that you try to explain is that the hardware buttons no longer work, you can try the MTTY method, if you have read the wiki you already know what exactly to do
Thanks raymonds, I will try not to, but I just don't want people thinking I'm yet another new member that doesn't read anything before posting, because I know how much I hate that too...I tried reading up on my problems for 4 hours last night before deciding to post because I couldn't find anything else to help.
I have successfully upgraded to WM6 and went through the no/yes/yes steps - the issue is that I want to go back to WM2003 or WM5...they seemed far less problematic for my phone for some reason..one problem I'm facing now is that my BA, pure and simple, no longer recognizes that I have a cellular carrier at all, making it essentially useless as a phone. When I try to go into SIM Manager, it hangs for a while, then goes into the screen saying that only emergency calls can be made...but when I try to put in my PIN, it says "Unknown SIM error", though the SIM works fine in my other phone...
I'm trying to use the Power/Reset/Record to either try reflashing in the hopes that'll resolve my issues, or downgrade...either way, it's not allowing me to do so, and I obviously can't do this while the phone is booted into WM6. It just seems like the reset button is no longer working, since neither combination that uses it (Power+Reset or Power+Camera+Reset) works anymore.
try to downgrade with MAUpgradeUT_NOID.exe, and then reupgrade, another thing you can do is to reflash the radio rom. The MTTY method resets bootloader settings which may be the solution to your problem.
MTTY under Windows XP is explained HERE
xplode, mtty requires one to do the power+reset+record combination, which he currently cannot do.
is this a second-hand unit?
Hm, there was another way to put your device into bootloader mode but i have never tryed it, in most of the WM2003 upgrades there was EnterBL.exe, and when you copy it to the device and execute it the device goes to bootloader mode...
but it also creates problems - read here
Also i had problems in the past with the latest version of MTTY (1.45) and used previous one 1.01 which worked like a charm
Sweet - thanks xplode and raymonds for your time.
Unfortunately I can't try these as I am at work right now, but I do appreciate the suggestions and will try them as soon as I get home.
If I can't get it to work, oh well - off to the service depot and a (probably) expensive lesson learned.
Please keep us updated, about your issue
Thanks guys...
So, I'm taking it that the radio stack is now corrupt, since it's no longer even showing a version number on my BA. I tried the methods xplode suggested - when I enter the unit into KITL mode, I take it I'm supposed to use USB Active as the transport method, since MTTY won't recognize a device otherwise, and my phone just boots into Windows from that point.
When I try to run MTTY though, all it does is display "kITLª" over and over again...I'm not sure if that's normal, or even how to enter a prompt of some kind...
I'm starting to wonder if maybe I should just take it to the depot, pay the $75 I was quoted, and learn my lesson... :-/
Any other suggestions, or am I just totally doing what you suggested wrong?
You do not need to enter KITL because this is used to debug your WM build using Platform builder
Just try to put your device to botloader mode and then use MTTY to instruct the bootloader what to do, or just reflash radio and then new rom

phone wont boot into boot screen :(

Hi, and welcome to the forum. (See! I was nice!)
Telling us that 'something went wrong' isn't really enough for us to go on.
You need to describe exactly what happens to your Ameo when you power it up, so we can give the correct advice. What do you see on the screen?
sorry lol
when i do the hard reset it does the usb boot screen but goes to a gray screen that asks me to format microdrive and then flash it. i think the op system been wipped but i cant get it to the rainbow usb boot screen for active sync to fix it
You can get it into bootloader mode by holding down the comm manager and camera buttons, then soft resetting.
From there you can re-install WM6. If you didn't succeed in unlocking the unit, you'll need to use the T-Mo compatible version of WM6 which you can find here - http://uploaded.to/?id=wbbw2u

T-Mobile MDA USA weird, "fixies" dont work, stuck in "press send to restore"

T-Mobile MDA USA weird, "fixies" dont work, stuck in "press send to restore"
Hi, sorry for my poor English is not my first language
I have a T-Mobile MDA USA and happened a weird thing, my phone works properly, was CID unloked and sim unloked with TNT_5.0_Wizard_TouchFLO ROM but 3 days ago I put the USB (PC)to charge the battery, lately when I back to pickup my phone I see in the screen of the phone open and close or put an quit windows explorer(mobil) repetitively, i try to close manually tapping in the "X" but explorer continues opening, then I see in the bar where you put the web address the number "3" and "8" was typing continuously, like when you hold pressing the buttons, but nothing was pressing or making pressure to do that, since I cant close the explorer with the "X" I turn off the phone, when I turn on instead to load normally, appears the Align Screen and for some reason will not recognize the Screen Tapping to align the screen, so, I turn off/on again, but in this time shows a black screen with "Press Send to Restore Factory Defaults, Other Key to Quit" in withe letters, it is stuck in there since, before to put this tread I have read this forum and still I am lost, because i do a Soft Reset or Hard Reset #1,#2,#3, I enter into a bootloader mode to re-flash the ROM with CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE ... IPL/SPL 1.01 and when finish to flash, its suppose the phone restart and windows loading but instead that I get again the same black screen with "Press Send to Restore Factory Defaults, Other Key to Quit" in withe letters, ok, maybe with other recently ROM, then I enter into a bootloader mode to re-flash the ROM... AGAIN... but now with ruu_prodigy_226102_22610105_022511_tmous_wwe_ship... IPL/SPL 2.26 ... and AGAIN I get the same black screen with "Press Send to Restore"... I try to press send key always, but nothing happens, is still stuck there always, I could not get past that, I would really appreciate any help. Thank you so much.
I hate to ask this, at the risk of sounding too obvious, but are you sure that it was CID unlocked properly? I have a Cingular 8125 with IPL/SPL 2.25 and I know it was a hell of an effort to get it CID unlocked, five or six tries before it worked properly and I was able to flash successfully.

yes was CID unlocked properly, I do it with lokiwiz02b like 3 moths ago and I use Wizard Service Tool to see was really unlocked, I could flash any ROM since was unlocked I could use crosbow, faria, Molski even TNT.20273_Professional ROM's but I prefer use TNT_5.0_Wizard_TouchFLO because I feel my phone works more stable and speedy... searching in treads I see Im not the only one with the same problem (stuck in a black screen with the legend " Press Send to restore factory default, other keys to quit" in white letters) but in that treads no one get answer how fix this problem or how get out of the black screen.
like I say before I could put my phone in bootloader mode and re.flash the ROM wherever I want to try running ROMUpdateUtility and always I reach 100% then, when its suppose the phone restart and you will see the windows logo or T-mobile, don't happen that, instead I see the famous black screen with white legend, so the legend says me "press send"... I press send, or any key and nothing happens... I read in other treads when you press send the phone formating but this is not the case, just don't do nothing,.... realy I need some help here
thanks
Hey!
I have the same problem as described above. I've been using CR96 Touch HD WM 6.1 with soft SPL unlock for couple of months with no problems until tonight when I noticed that my phone is hanged. I did a soft reset, but the phone gets stucked at "press send to restore factory default, other keys to quit" screen. At that none of the buttons work, soft resetting just puts it back to this screen, the same goes for taking the battery out. There have been no software or registry changes within weeks - just using basic phone functions. Is there any way how to fix this or what could be the problem?
Thanks in advance

Swype 3.9 has locked my phone!! Aargh!

I went ahead an installed Swype 3.9 and after it performed the soft reset after installation I can no longer unlock my phone with the 4 digit PIN I had set on it.
It's a new phone but I don't want to have to master reset it. I wouldn't even know how to!
What can I do now? Would I need to install a ROM or something to get it working again?
re-installing rom will result in you having to hard reset anyway.
Is there no startup delay for pin (similar to s2U2?)
Have you tried the PIN for the simcard?
I don't know the PIN for the simcard, it's an old simcard.
The slide to unlock screen comes up asking me for my PIN. It's a 4 digit number that I won't forget that I chose for the auto-lock function on the phone. WHenever I put my PIN in the phone reacts as if I got my PIN wrong. There's no chance I'd get this particular 4 digit number wrong.
What does 's2U2' mean?
slide 2 unlock app allows for delay before it automatically locks phone and asks for pin.
It is an installable cab.
If however it comes up immediately you will have no choice but to hard reset as it is clear you know the number an are trying to put it in carefully.
sry.
it's a known bug with swype 3.9 on phones that do not have a t mobile vendor id.
as far as I know hard reset is your only option. (there are several threads about it)
stay away from swype 3.9 ESPECIALLY if you use a pass word
OK, thanks peeps.
I'm going to look for a guide to reflashing the firmware.
I've put my simcard back in my trusty old K550i :-/

I had the same problem with Swype. Turns out the only way to solve it is a hard reset: With the device off, hold both volume buttons and press the power button. Follow on screen instructions.
No need to flash the firmware, just don't install Swype!
