Universal Silver / Black Phone Skin + Carrier's - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

I made silver phone skin for Universal.
The screenshot shows Japanese, but you will see English if you use English ROM.
Enjoy!!

Added Black one.
Again, the letters depends on your ROM or mui setting except for "Video".

Vodafone v1640: Vodafone_Phone_Skin.cab
Orange SPV M5000: Orange_Phone_Skin.cab
Again, the characters on buttons depand on your mui setting.
Enjoy!!

Uoloaded carrier's on this thread.

Very nice, but this has to be installed in the main memory to work, thus taking up our precious memory.

very nice , can you pm me how to make it
thanks

cktlcmd:
Yes, this cab file is too big just to change phone skin. It would be possible to use skin files in storage after changing registry.
I recommend cooking your own ROM with your own skin (or mine). (Of course, you cannot use carrier's in this case.
mwang:
There are many *.bmp files used for phone skin. I haven't perfectly found which bmp file is related to each button.
Only with this change, you cannot change "Video" button. The *.dll files (phcanlrc.dll & phcanprc.dll) have resources for "Video" button. You have to change it if you want to change "Video" button.
You will need to change resources of "phcanOverbmp.dll" if necessary.
As for registry, you will find many keys under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Phone\Skin]

Not bad.
How to make s cab setup file? I think I would make a new one for myself.

I made this cab file using WinCE CABManager v2.0 released from OCP software at www.ocpsoftware.com

shugoh!
I can no find any carier's skins on FTP ?? at least today they are not there,
Can you advise? Please

It seems someone deleted phone skins on FTP.
I'll upload skins as many as possible on this thread.
Files are ZIP compressed.

I have tryed to run one of the files on an Emulator and the Emulator HArd resetted itself. Have you got any idea ??? will that happen with the device also ? PLus does it really mean that you can get rid of the ugly t-mobile phone skin but keep the Video button ??

Churchill:
I've never run these skin files on emulator, but these worked fine on my Qtek-9000. I also can swich skins with these cab files. I have no idea why these skins shut off your emulator.
Regarding "Video" button, these are included in dll files in my cab file. You can modify or replace it to another one. It would be possible to use T-Mobile "Video" button only. (i.e. use Vodafone skin and replace dll to T-Mobile)
P.S. I don't think T-Mobile's is ugly but this is only a taste.

hard reset problem <Emulator
i guess OS on emulator didnt have 3G function.
so relative files of 3G function, such like follows confilict with its owns.
phcanprc.dll
phcanOverbmp.dll
phcanlrc.dll
phcanhtc.dll
phcanrc.dll
anyway, shugo's sikins are for the Phone with 3G,
should not use on Non-3G phone.

You might be right abou that Asukal
Thanx

Best phone skin so far??
I've seen this phone skin...I love it...
And I've used the search function on this site, but can only find it available for smaller screen HTC devices... ie; KJam :x It does not work on the Universal.
I'm no expert, but can someone explain to me how (in idiot's language please) I can recreate this skin for the Universal?
I can use Photoshop easy, so once I figure out how to extract the relevant gif files, I can alter the buttons quite easily....
If someone can explain it to me, I am willing to email / post the results back here...
Here's what the skin looks like...

try spb dialer skin
hi all..
for those who is really bored with the original dialer skin,..
y dont u check the spb software house site..
they give a few free skin (it's made for their spb software actually)..
but the they still give the free dialer skin..
me myself use one of their dialer skin, quite ok though..
dunno if it's works with ur machine, but mine (xda IIs), not a single problem...
eventhough the site said it's not working on wm2003se..
okie...

Which of the 3 looks better?
I placed the *.BMPs into unlocked ExtendedROM

What's the program that makes those cool icons on the taskbar, and is it fast..??

"Wisbar Advance 2", you have to download from Wisbar website.
But you need to download the Theme from the web (done by somebody) it is call Pocket OsX.
http://members.chello.nl/ddelug/skin.htm
Be warn that Wisbar will slowdown the PPC a little bit.
I think the new dial pad from CrossBow Theme looks better.

how on earth do you change the keypad skin on a universal without going to registry all the time i thought its meant to chnage with the theme.
regards

I actually did registry edit almost manually.
First I copy the keypad related registry out into *.REG files. Keep this as a backup and make another copy to do a text edit and modified it manually. Basically the filenames are the same, I put the new skin in the extended rom, so I need only to change the texts "\Windows\" to "\ExtendedRom\Windows\". Afterwhich I copy the new *.REG back into the registry. Soft reset and NEW DIALPAD SKIN.

IntelliDialer Custom Skin

for all those who don't like the T-Mobile IntelliDialer Skin
i have tried to make that of O2.
have a look.
After installing the IntelliDialer cab file. Download the ZIP file, UNZIP it and paste all the files in your pocket pc's /windows directory. Soft reset if you don't see the change.
anybody knows how to access the IntelliPad Skin???
i'll try to modify it too.
Does this dialer work on the XDAII ?
The IntelliPad skin is in the dll's.
You will have to extract, modify & import the resources from all dll's in the IntelliPad cab.
You can use PE-Explorer (on the PC) to handle the dll's
It is do-able
I am very interested. Could youn please stick to blue-ish and skip any O2 logo's as that makes the skin of general interest.
I can try to add the skin into the roginal cab's if you like.
BTW: Do you have Intellialer working on your Himalaya???

Nope, as soon as you switch to landscape you end up with the crappy T-Mobile sking although when you go back to portrait it works fine
@VW_ELM: If you could export the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone registry branch into a .reg file and post that, that would be great!
Awesome! thanks!
I saw some guy on hofo bragging he had the JAM version of this... any difference?
This version only doesn't support land because there are no landscape images included with it. See edsub's post for complete list.

change skin for phone?

Hi Fellow XDAers,
I have just got an MDA Compact (T mobile but unocked) but cannot find out how to change the telephone skin, even to windows standard. On my XDA2 I had this as an option, but win mobile 2003 second edition doesn't seem to have it. Can anyone help me find it or point me at a downlaod site?
Thanks

Skins for the phone
Try these nice app.
And see for yourself..
the first one contains two skins; exctract and copy-paste the folders into "Skin" folder after you install xdaskinchooservp.exe to your JAM
The guys did a fanatastic job, didn't they?
I've some at my site.
Using these on my Magician device too.

Candy red phone skin is superb, thanks
Hello,
As a none techie, I am very grateful for your help and assistance in providing some skins. The candy apple red is my favorite! Nowinstalled and will stay there.
Many thanks

sorry guys, but dont u have a problem with original skin? i mean when i press number button i can see original skin of the button instead of installed. am i the only one? thanx in advance
The depressed button always reverts to the default. This is held in a dll file called tapres.dll. The software does not modify the dll so the pressed button will always appear as default.
Cheerio
Howard
thanx. actually i've already changed dll in registry from oroginal to one, i downloaded from the second post's skin. but one more question. i have i-mate jam with 12 firmware. i cant change place on the skin where the number appears. it is still white as in original skin. anyone knows what can i do to change it? thanx

The smartdialer in my MDA Pro is colored red, while the phoe dialer skin is blue. This does not look very nice. For some reason T-Mobile like to give the MDA Pro a real T-Mobile look and feel, including T-Mobile dialer skin and smartdialer skin.
The Qtek 9000 ROM however should have the smartdialer skin in the original blue color.
@dreamtheater39,
I notice you are from India. How much did you purchase the Jasjar for from there in Bangalore? Its great that you get this stuff in India so fast, only downside being its friggin expensive there!!!
Skin Remover
Hi,
I am no programmer or so, but I tried to remove the skin from T-mobile.
Maybe someone likes.
It removes the carrier logo and the T-Mobile colors.
The only thing I cannot remove is the color of the VIDEO-button.
Copy to your MDA-PRO and install to the device, not the storage-card.
Try it out, you can uninstall again.
Best regards
Mike
I guess all of you got my question wrong!!!
I was asking if someone could extract the exes for the smart dialer phone application from the universal, and not the skins!
@universaldoc
I do not have a universal (as yet!), i'm waiting for someone to be able source it from a non-gray market channel here...!
However, i have an xda2 and a xda mini with me....
Thanks everyone for your replies!

Thank you for your utility. The point is that I only want to remove the T-Mobile logo from my dialer (= carrierlogo.gif in WIndows directory). Could you give me an idea how to copy a new carrierlogo.gif to this directory or even remove it completely? Now I can not remove or overwrite anything in my WIndows Directory.
Thanks
You have only to copy an empty file named carrierlogo.gif to your windows directory... a 0 byte file
Thats all

WORKS FLAWLESS!
Is the smart dialing still working with this skin? I just love that app...
They say not to install on Wizard...
You installed the ETEN dialer?
installed, changed the bitmap (inverted colors).
it works, but not intellidialer.
Then it`s a no go 4 me
procedure:
1) install E-TEN_M600_Dialer_Skin.cab on PPC
2) copy each Pcv*.bmp from Windows directory of PPC to your PC;
3) open each bmp file with MS Paint and invert colors (this is only for the aspect, not the functionality):
4) copy the bmp files back to PPC;
5) softreset.
*) the speed of the dialer is the same
*) I don't know a rollback operation different from harderesetting;
Can you give me the link for the CAB?
follow the link at the beginning of the thread.
Yes, ok thanks
It works perfectly....
I think that the only way to go back without an hard reset is to bring back the registry key pointing at the .dll
no Smart Dialing
How would i go about changing the the main colour. I did'nt really want a blue dialer.
cheers
these are the grafic file. do what you want to the colours but don't rename or change size or format.
originals before colours inverted if you're partial to orange
works on Dopod 838,
it's a beauty, very helpful when you use to dial with yr fingers instead of the stylus

Give it a try, you'll have to hard reset if it don't work as i don't know how to uninstall. but i was so fed up with the the standard small buttons on wm5 i just didn't care.
use this cab file to install cos it puts every thing where it should go and sorts out the registry setting.

Maybe if you backup the registry first and then if you don't like it just restore it back, may work as uninstall
Do you think this will work on qtek 9090?
thx

How to switch to Diamond clock in Cruise ?

Hi all,
I want to switch from the original clock that are default in Today screen in Cruise to something that looks like the Diamond clock.
That is all I want to do, i don´t want to change the entire interface only the clock.
Is it possible and how do i do it ???
Thank you guys, you ROCK !!!
//Peter
Ps,
Why do i want to do it?.. Simply because I'm getting tired of seeing that same old clock, day in and day out.
the clock is made of images stored in windows directory or in htc home dir.
You can search for diamond style htc home packs, open the files and copy into your pda only the files corresponding to the digits.
Thank you for the quick response.
However, I'm kind of a noob and would very much like to get some solid advice on to what to copy and to where and what to delete and so on...
Othervise I will **** things up and be stranded with a screwed up home screen
Cheers,
//Peter
HTC Home Customizer
is the name of the game
http://www.pocketemu.com/download4.html
(for free)
then you need a diamond clock skin such as LPASO's (look for in this forum).
I did it myself - it works very nice.
cool, thx
I will try it out, this was exactly what I was hoping for
edit:
Sorry to bother you guys with this but i only find a cab for the entire diamond theme.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=404415&highlight=LPASO
Can anyone point me where to find only the diamond clock skin ?
again thank you,
//arcspin
Get it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393451
and remember, you need HHC v1.0.
As much I like the software HHC it is huge just for me to switch the clock skin.
Is it possible to replace to original .png files for the standard clock to the .png files in the clock folder found in the "Diamond_HHC_Theme.zip" ?
That way I don't have to take up 4mb of memory just to switch clock skin.
First of all, is it this simple ?
Secondly, if it is that simple, what are the .png files named that are the standard clock skin and were do i find the on my TC?
Many Thanx,
//arcspin
If you find files need to change and give me place to change, I will make for you (cab) I create allready for dailer in diamond style only for original wm.6.0 rom you can check my 4shared.
this HTC Home Customizer not work for me
I am also looking how to my original HTC Home plugin make with more buttons still only 4, and look close to diamond
Still With Original Rom....
Once you have setup your clock & the rest (icons etc.) in HHC, you can get rid of the program and all its files (ie, uninstall & delete directories) and still keep the custom cofiguration of HTC HOME, which is saved as a set of files in \windows folder.
That way you can save that 4MB+ of memory, and still keep the diamond clock, but you cannot customize HTC home any longer.
YES!
Luckily and to save you doing a search (please search forums first it wil save you getting ripped) i have attached below.
Unzip them and copy to your HTC home file on your device. Copy and paste in the correct place and it will replace the files only to do with the clock and nothing else.
Please make sure you do a backup of the HTC folder on ur device before copying new ones, just incase you f#@k things up!!!
I always copy folders or files to a TEMP folder on my sd card, if you play alot and you make a mistake (and you will) then you have a life line!!
Also HHC customiser does not work with original HTC plugin, you have to unistal and use HHC one, which is kool, but may invalidate your warranty. For a noob i would just use the clock face files for now.
Have Fun!
Thanx Timmy and you all for this nice info.
Yes, of course one should do a search, my bad.
It was also my bad that I didn't quite understand if it was just to replace some .png files or if I had to do something else as well.
Now, that you have explained it to me it looks like a simple operation for sure.
Thank you and I will back up my files....god advice *smile*
cheers,

Jay,
If you want to customise HTC home fully, ie with 6 tabs and change the icons etc use HTC customiser, search for it here.
If full customisation is not important but want fully functional 6 tab, use the cab file attached which i got from a wm6.1 Rom on here.
Hope i understood you properly ;-)
I want start-settings-today-items- and push (htc home) and I lkie (options) button become active (and choose how many tabs i like)
this cab can help me ???
i use original rom with 4 buttons
Jay,
You cannot customise the default HTC home which comes on the Touch Cruise.
If you want options for how many tabs you want you will have to unistall HTC Home on settings/remove programs. then do soft reset.
You can then try HHC customiser (do a search for link) or try the cab file i posted. This will install a cooked version of HTC home which you can then choose number of tabs and the order.
The good news is , if you dont like any of the "cooked" versions you can do a hard reset and u then have original one back again.
What ever you do, do a full backup using sprite software that came with the phone before you do anything!
My friend can you post this sprite becouse I don't have? I saw on www.htc.com downloading for diamond but I can't take (other serial)
No can do bro, it came with the device on a cd. If you dont have the disk google it and purchase the lite edition, it does what u need and is pretty cheap 20$??
Its a good backup and has got me out the ****e when playing around.
This cab which you gave almost good but music tab start windows media player and not active buttons after in home plugin
maybe I have I never chek cd
