SMS Text Tone - PhoneAlarm - Disables automatically! HELP - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hi,
I am using the latest O2 ROM with the latest Vodafone ExtROM, which works fine, APART from when I use PhoneAlarm.
The default setting for notifications of SMS messages is no audio alert, no vibration, no LED, just yes to display message. Is there anyway of changing this, I've searched the registry and can't find it.
Before I installed PhoneAlarm, I could change the alert to play "notify.wav" for a text, and it worked fine... After I installed PhoneAlarm, I've gone into the profile settings, and the default for SMS Alert was "<SYSTEM>" which is muted like detailed above. I've changed all the profiles so that it's set to "notify.wav", saved it, but it still mutes the settings like above.
This worked fine on the T-Mobile ROM, is there anyway to fix it? As the T-Mobile ROM is SLOOOOOOOOOOOW.
Cheers guys (and ladies)
-Dave.

Looks like it's nowt to do with the ROM, just downgraded to the T-Mobile one, and up to the iMate one.
Whatever I set the SMS tone to in the profiles section of PhoneAlarm, I then go to the notifications tab in Settings, and the SMS Text Notification is muted. :-/
I have the trial version of PhoneAlarm, but don't think that's owt to do with it; not going to risk paying for the full version if it's gonna do this :-/
Anyone any ides please? :-/
Regards.

I have the registered version of phone alarm and my sounds&notifications in settings are different to what i have set in the phonealarms profile settings screen.
Best thing to do is set your sms sound in phonealarm and save settings. switch to another profile then back to the one you have just changed. and send yourself a text.
It should sound as you have it set in PA rather than the settings you have in settings\sounds&notifications. I dont think you should go into the S&N settings as PA takes over from them the next time you switch profiles. Just make sure you have stated a sound to play rather than using <system>.
Hope this helps.

Voice command 1.6 and vibrate...

I was wondering if there was any way of allowing voice command to still voice the notifications from the calander while the phone is on vibrate...
I dont want to have to switch a bunch of things in the phone when i walk into work to get it to work correctly... I also have htc home - schen 2.10 and would like to be able to actively switch through there for the different sound options...
is there a reg value that i can edit? or something with the htc home that i can setup to just vibrate under the last option in the menu to my custom settings to set to just vibrate and stop sounds and notifications but allow the voice command come through without issues?
Thanks,
Dan
You can use a "silent" ringtone and set the phone to ring & vibrate. There is one around called silent.wav -- you can probably find it if you search for it.
that will solve one of my problems, but what about silencing the notifications for text messages... i want everything to vibrate but the voiced reminders....
uhm maybe use the same wav file for notifications too?
notifications can play a sound and vibrate at the same time?
Check out settings>personal>sounds & notifications>notifications. The event option is a dropscreen and you can pick the different things to configure.
Cheers...
brilliant... i was looking for this before but had a blonde moment appearantly...
now, is there any way to setup the sound settings in the htc home to revert to different ringer settings with the 4th option on the page? so at work i could have it work as one setting, and outside i can select the first and i can have it revert to ring and everything as normal?
i would like to custom set the different profiles...
Problem is windows mobile doesn't have more than 3 profiles. If you want more your going to have to install a 3rd party program.

Customization question?

Does the x1 have a way to customize the sms(email, mms) notification sounds because in Sounds&Alerts there's one option: to change the ringing melody only.
when i got into settings sounds & notifications notifications
i in the event dropdown have tons of both mms and sms sound and notification
options like what sound to play and if it also vibrate
both sendt sms and recieved sms and ... also for mms

Really? I have the stock ROM and it allows both alarms + ringtones + mp3s etc.
Which ROM do you have?
i'm not sure...how can i see what rom i have?
...and one more thing-there's a logo VODAFONE at the back of the phone?Does this mean that they've messed up the menus?
i found it ...but i stll don't know how to check the rom...
THis is a basic part of Windows Mobile, I can't see Vodafone messing with it. You are going into "Settings" then "Sounds & Notifications" correct? Or I suspect you haven't chosen the correct event in the drop down box, as for Messaging:New Text Message you don't get a Ring to change, it asks you which sound to play...

SMS sound gone

Hi,
I dont know when or why this has happened, but suddenly my sms sound was gone. I read some threads that referred to this happening because threaded sms was disabled the wrong way. But i have threaded SMS enabled, aswell in settings as in HD tweak. I turned in settings - sounds & notifications on: Events Programs and Notifications. Although i originally had those switched off because i dont want those sounds. With that turned on now when i get a text message I hear: Boss you have a new message. Like wtf... I just want the original SMS sound back. Can anyone help me? Btw i Run Dutty's rom 1.7
greetings.
Little bump i really want this fixed and searched entire XDA and google cant find nothing.

So sorry to hear this. You seem to be not far away from a hard reset, right...? Good luck, anyway!

What is the ringtone you have selected ? Make sure that ringtone file is available under the Windows folder.
By trial and error, I found that SMS ringtones are picked up from Windows folder only, whereas all the other tones (incoming call, reminder etc) are picked up from Windows/Rings or My Documents/My Ringtones folders. I could be wrong - or have a bug in my HD - but this works for me ....
Cheers !!

No SMS sound - Shipped ROM 1.66

I have No SMS sound and Shipped ROM 1.66.
SMS comes in, device doesn't make any sound.
No special software installed or anything like it. Nothing.
This is my third HTC device, never it has been a device in which HTC just did everything right. Even the ultimate basic feature of SMS notification doesn't work. LOL and it's the latest shipped ROM. They'd better start to focus on basic features instead of high tech weather animation. Damn I am so pissed of, missed many important SMS and saw them in hours delays.
haveyou checked the sms notification settings?
settings menu all settings sounds and notifications notifications tab change the dropdown to message new message and check the settings.
had this too, maybe after installing Net3.5 or BSBtweaks, donĀ“t know...
after re-selecting it never happened again...

Sound notification problem?

Right,
It seems that sometimes I am getting problems with my sound notifications. Basically the SMS or Email notification sometimes works fine, like normal. Then other times, I get a SMS or Email come through on my HD2, but the sound notification doesn't go off? I don't have the phone on silent, nor vibrate. So I Have to reset the HD2 in order for the notifications to work again.
Anyone else coming across this problem? If so, how did you get "around" it?
Cheers.
Bump.......

Have you changed the manila language?
No, I can only understand English, so wouldn't have changed the language settings in Manila.
Go to:
Settings>All settings>Sounds & Notifications>Notification Tab.
And see what you can do with all those settings there,it took me some time to customize them all to my liking,it is working very well now.

All the same settings since I set the phone up from new (about 2 weeks ago).
Dunno what it is, but I can remember I used to have the same problem on my HTC Kaiser (aka : MDA Vario III)
Grr..
Do you use the 3.5mm jack often? (ie. headphones, speakers, etc. for listening to music/movies) If so, when you unplug them from your phone, your sound settings will automatically turn off/slient. Not necessarily silent or vibrate mode, just off/lowest volume setting. This has been happening to me since day one even with custom ROM. Don't know how else to fix it. I just always change the volume settings right after I unplug.

I've found that since upgrading to the most recent T-Mobile ROM on the website, when I get a text or email the phone will play all of the message or email alert, even if I open the text or email, it continues! Very annoying.
