Difference between 'normal' ROM and 'extended' ROM (s200)? - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 General

I am wondering what exactly the difference between the "normal" ROM and "extended" ROM - if there is any difference at all?
To be more precise, if a ROM is unlocked by the seller, does that automatically mean, that the extended ROM is also unlocked?
Can I flash a ROM with an update if the ROM is unlocked and how does the extended ROM come into play in terms of ROM updates?
This is in regards to the Qtek s200.
Thanks for any advice on this one!

Change Rom?

Is it possible to change or downgrade my rom with a cooked rom? i bought an XDA with wm2003 4.11 rom.
Yes this is possible, you could use either a new rom (which you can cook in a rom kitchen.
Or you can use the sd card way.
but the rom's in the kitchen are lower than my rom
T0722 you can still downgrade
even if the rom is a lower version
or are you asking IF you should downgrade to a lower version ?
Actully, I'm looking for a better rom. probly a 4.00.16 ENG rom. I only see specific telecom roms. what's the diff anyway?

i've seen t-mobile updates of WM2003 but i don't think it will work well in asia. because t-mobile uses the 900/1900 while in asia we have the 900/1800 frequency.
That will be no problem. The site i linked in the post above is from T-Mobile in Germany. We also use the 900/1800 frequency.
But i didn´t find anyone, that has an new MDA with the original t-mobile wm2003 Software....
Regards
Stefan
you have the rom? the site is in german can't understand it.
Yes and No , all new T-Mobile MDA`s have WM2003 , but this ROM you can`t get alone(without MDA) .
At the T-mobile site(Germany) is only PPC2002 upgrade .
Sorry for bad English

Qtek 9100 1.6.7.1 ROM available

This is buried in some other threads, so here you go
(First off, I take no responsibility! Dumped using aWizard tools, and you can find more info in that thread on these forums.)
ROM version: 1.6.7.1 WWE
date 11/28/05
radio 1.13.10
protocol 4.0.13.24
extrom: 1.6.7.101
Here are the links and anyone is welcome to upload it to the FTP...
http://www.richardgoodwin.com/Qtek_9100_1_6_7_ENG.zip
http://www.richardgoodwin.com/Qtek_9100_1_6_7_ENG_Extended_ROM2.zip
Note that it doesn't contain radio firmware, etc. It is just the OS and ROM2.
n return I ask for your comparison in terms of speed, included apps, stability, etc. versus your current version. Reply to forum....
how do we install the nba?
Here's the thread with aWizard. http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=37386
It's very easy...connect via usb, make sure Activesync is connected, then (going from memory here, but the tool will prompt you anyway )
Enable RAPI
Unlock (if not using a Qtek)
'w' to write the file
cross fingers and wait for phone to reboot
But again, only do it if you're comfortable! I am no Qtek representative
Ouch, i got rom-version 1.3.7.13 ... Is it many new fixes in this one?
rgoodwin Can You post all ROM using 'mtty' & 'psdread'?

Yeah this will be more helpful.
I don't have an SD card, which seems like it is required to do what you are saying...?
extended rom version?
What is the difference betwen the normal and extended rom version?
I unlocked (also CID unlocked) mine SPV M3000 and run now a Qtek 9100 version on it...
Hi Sorry if this is a stupid question,
but I'm assuming that the ROM upgrade - http://www.richardgoodwin.com/Qtek_9100_1_6_7_ENG.zip
will update the OS ONLY (ie WM5) and NOT alter the contents of the Extended ROM??
I ask because I want to keep my T-mobile UK customisations (Found in the extended ROM) as they have my internet settings etc. I dare say one day I'll get around to finding out what they are so I can ditch the T-mobile stuff.
P.S Just in case I have backed up my extended ROM stuff just in case
Thanks in advance
John
Correct, the OS is the OS, the Extended ROM is separate
Anything cool in that Tmobile Ext ROM?
Not really, it seems to customise the look of the PDA - easily altered using Pocket Plus, and it sets the IE homepage and settings. What all the others do is anybodies guess??
Mine has these:--Seems a lot- I wonder what they all do and whether they are really needed??

Hi Mate,
Could you tell us what is your after-upgrading Windows Version is?
Mine is 5.1.70 (build 14406.1.1.1), if your WM5 version differs then there is at least one reason to upgrade my Qtek9100 rom (1.1.7.9). Otherwise it seems that 1.6.7.1 is the same as 1.1.7.1 in terms of OS
Thanx in advance
Sorry if this is a silly question, but can I use this on my O2 XDA mini s?
Will I lose or gain anything over the O2 ROM (that was shipped with the handset)?
The one feature I REALLY want is A2DP so I can use my bluetooth stereo headphones.
Thanks for any advice.

Thanx for your info!
Build change doesn't look very attractive to me coz it might be localization and other minor changes. Still waiting for AKU or other significant changes ;-)))
extended rom ?
Hi
I'm new so I might asked stupid questions
I got my PDA for 3 day and thanks to the posts here, I unlocked,
put some other firmware on it etc...
What is not clear for me at the moment is the extended rom issue ?
Is this a sort of addition ?
Can anyone help this newbie ?
Heya rgoodwin,
What was the original source of your ROM? Did you modify it in any way? The ROM that TMO UK offers is version 1.6.2.4, so yours appears a bit more "advanced".
Sorry if this info is posted elsewhere - I even went to your site, rgoodwin, and couldn't find a listing. Nice low carb story, btw!
Can you update the ROM without losing any data on the device?

Mine arrives tommorow

Ok my O2 XDA Minis arrives tommorow i want to use it on vodafone and would like to install the fastest available rom from anywhere what do you recommend for best performance dont want all the corporate ****.
What is the score with regards to unlocking and flashing the rom with a different firmware to 02
Cheers
Chris
You should alwaya go with the newest ROM ... and I think it's ROM 1.6.7.1 WWE.

Not necessarily - there are issues with that version, e.g. WiFi bugs and locked Extended ROM. Best one IMHO so far for speed, reliability and memory is this

I have the above ROM and it works fine (I downgraded from 1.6.7.1 UK) but I just hate the splash screen. A good rom compilation, but a half-assed splash screen... :?
Just do a basic install when it asks you and then delete the 2 o2 icons in the startup folder.

Radio upgrade
What kind of device are u using?
There is no such thing as a WM6 or WM5 radio rom. The radio ROMs are seperate from the operating system (WM6 or WM5). Make sure you use a radio ROM that is made for your device.

hi im using a O2 Atom Life.
SeanFromSoCal,
My o2 WM5 rom has some minor issues with autoband switching while users with WM6 rom for o2 reported no problems with it. so that's why i'm wondering is there anyway to extract whatever files in the WM6 and flash it over my current phone/WM5 rom.

HTC P3600 & Dopod D810

Hi.. I am using a Dopod D810, and was looking through the HTC Member's Club on their website for system update when I chanced upon an rom update for HTC P3600.
To my knowledge, D810 and P3600 are actually the same. So my question is, is it safe to use the rom update? There is another older rom update that is for D810 in the site. But if I am to update the rom, I might as well go for the latest one.
Anyone can help me on this?
yes they are the same. but rom update always has risks. make sure you have hardspl installed before updating any rom
